Meghan Markle poised to exit ‘Suits’ after she finishes filming Season 7

2013 USA Network Upfronts

It’s being taken as an article of faith by royal-watchers that Meghan Markle is exiting Suits after she finishes up filming on the seventh season. We actually haven’t gotten that confirmed at any point though – USA Network has made no announcements and Suits producers have not said that Meghan is officially leaving. I would assume that Meghan told producers months ago that she wants this season to be her last, but God knows. Suits could go on without Meghan. But could it go on without the star, Patrick J. Adams? From Deadline:

As USA Network’s popular legal drama series Suits is prepping the second half of its seventh season, I hear that co-lead Patrick J. Adams is not expected to continue as a series regular in Season 8, which has not been ordered but is considered unlikely. Co-star and fellow original cast member Meghan Markle also is eyeing an exit. The contracts of all Suits original cast members are up after Season 7, so both Adams and Markle will have fulfilled their current obligations. USA and Suits producer Universal Cable Prods. declined comment.

Rumors about Adams looking to move on after seven years on the Toronto-based series started to circulate a couple of months ago. Adams was a fresh-faced young actor who got his big break when he was cast as the co-lead opposite Gabriel Macht in Suits, landing a SAG nomination for the first season. A lot has changed since for him professionally and personally, with Adams recently getting married, so I hear he started contemplating a next chapter in his career this past summer.

Like with Adams, Suits also helped establish Markle as a TV star. Her Rachel Zane character on Suits had been closely linked with Adams’ Mike Ross since Day 1, so an exit of Markle alongside Adams would make sense. Rachel and Mike currently are engaged, with Suits creator Aaron Korsh teasing to Deadline that their long-postponed wedding may finally happen in the upcoming final Season 7 episodes. For the past year or so, Markle has been in a relationship with the British Prince Harry while continuing to work on Suits.

[From Deadline]

As a Suits non-watcher, I would say that the easiest way to handle this would be to just have Meghan and Patrick’s characters get married and run away together, and have that be the end of the show. There’s apparently a Suits spinoff show in the works, so maybe that’s where the focus should be. We were also told that this season of Suits will finish filming any day now and that Meghan is due to move to London permanently and SOON. When will this happen??

Meanwhile, there’s a really dumb story in the Daily Mirror about how the Queen has invited Meghan Markle to spend Christmas with the royal family, and Meg wants to do it but she doesn’t want to be away from her mom, so the Duchess of Cambridge has offered to house Meg’s mom for the holidays. None of that will be happening, people.

No engagement announcement. Queen said to wait a year. Harry is no fool, will not rush in.

    • Sunfuntravel says:

Hey did the queen text that to you it did she tweet that or DM you? Cause u cray

      • HoustonGrl says:

@Sunfun This is a pretty well known rumor at this point, that the engagement announcement is delayed.

      • notasugarhere says:

It is a rumor touted in some arenas and not in others. It remains a rumor, not associated with an official royal source leaking.

We don’t know if they are even considering marriage. If they are, I don’t see a problem with it. It is their relationship, they’ve been together 16 months now. If they know what they want and they’re going for it, so be it.

      • rinserepeat says:

Arena? That’s a generous take on the cesspool that crazydeanne and trolls run on tumblr. They cherry pick and twist information to feed their delusions. This particular “well known rumor” is their take on the Daily Beast article that concludes no one knows when or if Harry and Meghan will announce an engagement.

They flood DM with the twisted despicable lies they spin using multiple aliases and they have attempted try the same here. Only to be frustrated by the push back they receive from women who have not internalized the misogyny they wallow in. Celebitchy was even named as disreputable because the women here clap back.

So while I appreciate your diplomacy, I think it more effective to let them know they are seen.

      • Princessk says:

@rinserepeat….your analysis is spot on girl!

    • HH says:

I don’t feel like they’re necessarily rushing into things. I can’t speak for Meghan because she wasn’t papped as heavily, however in regards to Harry, he is clearly very serious about Meghan and is acting differently. He has the comfortable stride/attitude we saw when he was with Chelsy, but is tons more mature about this relationship. It was kept under wraps until they were ready. I’m assuming “ready” means going the distance.

    • Megan says:

I think HM is very keen to see Harry settle down and marry. She would much prefer he be seen as a devoted family man than the party prince.

  2. Bridget says:

Is it really news that the actors on a show that isn’t likely going to be renewed for an 8th season, who’s contracts are finished, are looking to the future?

    • Talie says:

The word is that the show will be renewned for 8 and 9 with Gabriel Macht in the lead.

      • Bridget says:

The above literally just said “it has not been ordered yet and is considered unlikely”

      • Millenial says:

That would be totally fine with me, to be honest. Mike was the most boring part of the show and his “big secret” storyline was poorly thought out. It was exciting the first season, but they shouldn’t have drug it out to the 4th or 5th season.

I honestly would just watch Gabriel and Gina Torres all day long. I wish she were still on the show.

      • Talie says:

Hollywood Reporter has a vastly different account saying it will go on.

      • AG-UK says:

oooh I don’t know I stopped watching at season 4 I think but he is always screaming he can’t have a normal conversation without LOUIS or whomever is the person he is talking to. JESSICAAAAA

      • rinserepeat says:

@Talie you are correct. I believe it’s one of the trades (Hollywood reporter) that says Suits is expected to be renewed for seasons 8 and 9 w/Gabriel leading. It’s USA’s 2nd highest rated show.

    • Sunfuntravel says:

Bridget it is renewed for season 8

  3. Darla says:

I LOVE that shift dress she is wearing.

  4. Talie says:

This was always going to be the tell for me as to whether an engagement was close by…it would quietly leak that she was leaving Suits. The Hollywood Reporter basically confirmed it. I didn’t expect her costar/love interest to also exit, but he did recently get married, so it’s possible he wants to move back to the US more permanently, so it worked out for everyone.

  5. V4Real says:

Please let this work. Ole girl is giving up her career for the Prince.

I love her freckles. My cousin is her complexion and has freckles like that.

    • MousyB says:

I dont think shes “giving up” anything… Her show was about to end anyways and she wasnt necessarily an in-demand actress. She also seems to be way more into humanitarian projects anyways, this is a smart move professionally and personally imo. She’ll have the platform to do a lot of good. Win win situation all around.

      • BorderMollie says:

The show made it to 100 episodes, so she’ll get her syndication money from it. She also hobnobs with Canadian ‘royalty’ here too. She’ll be absolutely fine.

  6. Astrid says:

This is starting to drag on…..

    • V4Real says:

As long as she doesn’t become a waity Katie.

    • minx says:

      Really.

    • Abs says:

We’ve known about them for just a year. You weren’t around for the Waity years

      • MousyB says:

Agreed. I think its just the coverage that’s annoying – not them. This is hardly Waity territory lol

    • LAK says:

      Imagine the 8yrs of Waity.

      • notasugarhere says:

And the 5+ years of Sophie and Edward. For those saying MM could not live with Harry at KP unless they were officially engaged? Sophie lived with Edward at Buckingham Palace for several years before their engagement.

      • Princessk says:

Meghan is 36, she cannot live with Harry for years. Also the speculation and innuendo with these two is on another level completely compared with other RF couples in this age of social media and trolling. Harry needs to shut people up and make it official.

    • Maria says:

Look on the bright side. A year from now we’ll be almost halfway into Trump’s term.

      • notasugarhere says:

Universe, please don’t let Emperor Baby Fists still be in office by then.

Santa, all I want for Christmas are indictments and impeachments.

      • Bella Dupont says:

        @ Maria

Reading your sudden trump reminder, felt like getting violently slapped back into consciousness by an unknown hand…….only to realise I’m lying half naked with no shoes on, beside a stinking skip/dumpster, under a derelict bridge, far far away from home, with no cab fare to go back home and no idea how I got there,

        Very grim indeed.

      • Lady D says:

Time to use the saved-up Santa wishes:)

      • Maren says:

Hopefully, he will either be indicted, resign or the bucket of KFC will do their job on him.
As for Meghan, she is a “tv star”? Really? I never heard of her before she hooked up with Harry, so success for her, whether she marries him or not.
And the Queen wants her there for Christmas? I doubt that very much. The last article said after the Queen met her, she wanted Harry to take his time. I think Meghan is too good for Harry, but I can’t imagine QEII and racist Philip is happy about this.
And there is NO WAY Kate is going to have Meghan’s mother at her house. Good Lord, that is just crazy. Meghan and especially her family, are going to be scorned by the hoity toits.

    • Talie says:

Lainey claims it might be later because they need to live together, but I don’t buy it. You don’t have an actress give up her career for a “maybe”.

      • Imqrious2 says:

        I agree. I’m hoping for a summer/early fall wedding
        🎊👸🏽🤴🏼

      • nic919 says:

Agree completely. You don’t drop a career and move to another country to just try things out. Lainey is hedging bets only because she was seen as having insider information at one point and now wants to seem more neutral.

      • Ravine says:

Hmm, but didn’t Cressida start working in some nonprofit / arts organization after finishing dance school? It was speculated at the time that she had been advised to find more “suitable” work than modern dance. Whether that’s true, we’ll never know, but she did quit that job to pursue acting shortly after their breakup. So the idea of Meghan leaving the performing arts to devote time to an uncertain relationship doesn’t seem hugely far-fetched to me. That being said, Meghan has an established career, so she wouldn’t make the decision as lightly, especially given she’d have to move so far away.

  7. aquarius64 says:

Looks like the engagement is happening. Meghan leaving Suits is being reported in Variety and other legitimate industry publications.
No stay with the royals unless Meghan has the ring. If Mom comes to England Harry would have to pay.

    • notasugarhere says:

Sophie lived with Edward at Buckingham Palace for several years before they were engaged, and may have stayed with him at Sandringham during Christmas at some point in their 6 year courtship. Sophie and Autumn were also pictured arriving at BRF family events (wedding anniversary parties, etc.) with the BRF before their engagements too.

      • Nessa nessa says:

Y’all keep bring up Sophia but key point…Meghan is American…she can’t just live in London just cause. She have to apply for a visa or fiancé one & get married within 6 months of getting it. She can’t live in London at KP without a reason. Sophia isn’t a foreigner, Meghan is.

      • notasugarhere says:

As I wrote below, if she moves to the UK on an entrepreneur visa and starts a business (or charity)? As long as she has the £ 50,000 – 250,000 required investment capital, she can be in the UK legally for 4 years on that entrepreneur/investment visa.

      • mint says:

She is dating a Prince of the United Kingdom, I don´t think that she will have Visa Issues. They will pull strings for her.

      • Maren says:

@mint, I know the BRF is tone deaf, but in this particular climate that is populist, nationalist, Brexit, how do you think Meghan having strings pulled for her will go over with the public? She is going to have enough trouble being accepted – start treating her better than normal folks, and the outrage will be huge.

      • SoulSPA says:

I just remembered that UK citizenship can be acquired with an investment of minimum half a million British pounds. And yes, the scandal that Al Fayed with the tens or hundreds of millions investment in the UK economy and living there for decades could not acquire it. I know that also Cyprus and maybe Malta and some countries from the Caribbean have a similar scheme for citizenship.

      • Liberty says:

I think they’re already engaged, too, and simply ready to be together. Love is like that 😍

And yes, nota, I agree that rule will make it easy for her to come in according to the laws with a business investment even if unmarried.

      • mint says:

@Maren: I totally agree with you but I don´t see Meghan getting deported from Kensington Palace either.
I mean isnt she already allowed to avoid customs at the airport, so Harry can pick her up straight from the tarmac

  8. Abs says:

Deadline, Variety and Hollywood Reporter had the story last night. They are usually spot on. Patrick has worked on numerous other projects this past year including ome with his wife and his storyline as the fraud has been over. Good timing for both of them to move on. Suits will be full on Darvey from now on, poor Louis

  9. Pix says:

I do watch the show and I think her role was diminished this last season. There is no chemistry between her and Mike and it’s interesting because they used to be kinda hot. I think they might have to kill her off though because her dad on the show is so good and I’d hate to see them lose that character.

    • Abs says:

No, they filmed the wedding last weekend. Her and Mike will live happily ever after somewhere outside Suits. Nice for the fans who have waited for the wedding for a long time and nobody has to be killed off.

  10. Eliza says:

How does someone without a work visa move to London permanently? Like legally isn’t that a mess?

We all know its her last season. She’ll be moving to start a new life with her prince. I don’t know why we need a weekly reminder. Unless they’re actively trying to get people to be over it before it begins. Because I’m already getting fatigue.

    • Nic919 says:

She can through a marriage visa, but the marriage has to happen within six months of the move. Which is why I never thought she would just move to the UK without an engagement. She can’t just hang about in the UK for a year.

    • Merritt says:

If they are engaged she will probably get a fiance visa. Since she won’t be getting a paycheck, going to a few charity events prior to getting married shouldn’t be considered work.

    • notasugarhere says:

There are UK entrepreneur visas that require investment capital of £ 50,000 – 250,000. That would allow her to be in the UK legally for up to 4 years without being engaged, as long as she invested that money in starting a business. If she wants to start a charity, it would be a question of whether that counts as “investment” or something else.

    • SoulSPA says:

@Eliza – I am not an immigration specialist but as far as I know: she is not an EU citizen ( with the mess that Brexit entails for EU citizens on the UK) so she has to qualify for a UK residency visa. I know she could get an investor’s visa or a study visa on her own. In either case she would have to work or study to be able to maintain the visa conditions. I am not sure that charity visa exists. Unless she is sponsored by a UK charity or a company that can prove her skills are outstanding and that they are unable to hire a British (maybe UK?) citizen for that particular position. She, moving to the UK and starting off a new charity seems unlikely but again, I am not an immigration specialist. For a spouse visa, given that she is from outside the EU, she will need to be sponsored by her spouse that would have to prove he has a certain income level per year to support her unless she can prove she has enough income. In either case she has such a public profile that questions will be asked. No way she could escape public scrutiny unlike the BRF who get away with basically everything and anything (cough cough).

    • Hudson Girl says:

I lived in London because of a Student Visa. Maybe she’ll take a graduate class? It would give her a chance to hang with Harry full time and make absolutely sure this is what she/they want.

  11. Bettyrose says:

Does the show get any better after season 1? In an era of prestige tv, it’s the definition of bland.

    • Citresse says:

Yeah, I caught a few scenes Ie- lawyer having an affair with his therapist? I don’t know. It comes across as a cheap rip-off of other legal dramas. Though I did like Markle’s wardrobe.

  12. DiligentDiva says:

    Where’s my “It’s Happening” gif!!!!!
Meghan’s gonna be a Princess, I’m so ready for this.

  13. Harla says:

I find it interesting that rumors were swirling that H&M would announce their engagement once Suits ended, sometime this month, but after tea with the Queen now rumors are coming out that Meghan will move to London, start her own charity office and live with Harry for some time before announcing their engagement, seems as though HM felt that getting to know each other better and spending some real time together was the smarter way to go. While a part of me understands that this is probably the wiser course of action, the other parts want a big royal wedding full of pomp, circumstance and tiaras, lots and lots of tiaras and I want it now!!

    • Luca76 says:

Smarter but also once Kate has her kid he doesn’t need permission to marry right? So it’s a good work around if the royals are being racists.

      • Nessa nessa says:

He will still need permission to marry since he is 6th in line once the baby is born. So it holds no merit.

And that Tom article in daily beast basically says we don’t know anything & waiting until the baby was born was just thrown around as a possibility. Either way she can’t live there unless age is engaged or have a job.

      • notasugarhere says:

Or she starts a business or charity under the 4-year entrepreneur visa.

      • Nessa nessa says:

Or a charity isn’t a business so it doesn’t apply & even still that takes time. So no she can’t just move…unless she already got a business going now….and we don’t know about it.

      • notasugarhere says:

I don’t know if a charity counts as a business under that visa, I don’t know if it doesn’t. Unless everyone else getting that entrepreneur visa is required to open their doors immediately employing X number of people from Day One, she wouldn’t be required to either. If it takes time, it may be paperwork was filled out months ago and it is signed, sealed, delivered, and waiting for her to walk away from Suits.

If she starts a charity that is a social enterprise, where she fronts the money, people learn a trade at the charity (like Prince’s Trust offering funds for occupational training), and employs people? Then it likely counts under that visa.

Something like the JustWork Economic Initiative. Heck, she could make a deal with them to create a JustWorkUK to go along with the Canadian one. I think that would qualify her for the visa.

  14. Nessa nessa says:

No shade to Miss Markle but this news explains more clearly why the hold up on renewal. Like Mike Ross or not, he is the show…or had been since it started along with Harvey Spector up the rear. So idgaf mike is gone, it’ll be an issue of what will the show be? It makes sense that they marrying Mike & Rachel off before they go away. Have to make sure Gabriel signs to have it go on.

It’s weird because he would drop little hints here and there he was done. Him coming back to social media, getting rid of his sponsored car, etc..

Yeah…Meghan won’t be at any Christmas celebration until she is married. And HM damn sure isn’t gonna have her mother there. That’s not happening…even if they announced they’re engaged before Christmas, nope. A damn lie…

    • Lady D says:

Why is it a lie? She has Sophie’s dad there each year, why not Meghan’s mom, especially if she is that concerned with Harry’s happiness?

      • Nessa nessa says:

She isn’t married….so yeah it’s a lie. Aka neither will be there until Harry & Meghan are married. I literally wrote that…was it not clear? Serious question…

      • notasugarhere says:

It isn’t a lie to point out that both Sophie and Autumn showed up at family events (not official engagements) and stayed with their royal boyfriends on royal property before they were engaged. That is a separate issue from who has a visa. It is a fact that both those ladies were included in family events before any engagements were announced.

Sophie’s widowed dad seems to be a favorite of HM’s along with Sophie herself. He has been part of royal Christmas and Easter for years, staying with the royal family during the festive seasons.

      • Princessk says:

So nice that Sophie’s Dad has been invited and nobody knows about it. RF should not be heard or seen except at weddings and christenings. Middleton family take note.

    • rinserepeat says:

If there was a delay in announcing the renewal (there was not) why would that shade Meghan. NO. Mike Ross isn’t the show and never was. Even with his departure IF she had wanted to stay her story line would set her up to do so.

  15. perplexed says:

I thought they were definitely engaged until I read this story today about Patrick J. Adams leaving Suits. Will this show even be on if he leaves? Mike, his photographic memory, and Harvey are the whole point of the show!

    • Nessa nessa says:

Yeah it’s going on….Gabriel & Sarah signed on and the show will refocus on them.

      • perplexed says:

Well, I suppose Harvey and Donna being together more could ease some of the frustration.

Harvey and Mike have an important dynamic. I don’t think MM’s character is as pivotal to the show. That’s not a slam on MM, but more of a slam on the writing of her character which is kind of annoying. The character she has to play is kind of irritating.

    • nic919 says:

The photographic memory was always hilarious because even if you remember the case law you have read, the job of a lawyer is to interpret those cases to the one you are arguing because the facts are never identical. Oh and you don’t have to memorize things for court because you prepare briefs and submissions. As a real lawyer I always thought that was a useless gift that a non lawyer writer gave Mike because it really doesn’t help in real life practice.

  16. Peace says:

Ever since Tom Sykes (whom Lainey swears has authentic royal sources) of the Daily Beast wrote that story about MM and Harry having to live together for at least a year, nothing about the possibility of the engagement happening this year has been written. Lainey who is an avid MM fan picked the Daily Beast story and couldn’t puncture it.

    • Renee says:

Meghan and Lainey run in the same circles. She tries to pass stuff off as speculation but she probably has more insight than she lets on. When it comes to these two I tend to believe what she says.

      • Nessa nessa says:

No she don’t…no one has an idea what they plan to do. Let alone a chick she spoke talked about her dogs with. They aren’t friends…all she will know is any inside gossip like any other gossip rag. Not from Meghan herself or anyone.

    • rinserepeat says:

Actually that article doesn’t say they have to live together for a year. One source speculated that and the conclusion was that others had other speculations and no one knows and Lainey made clear she doesn’t know today. She’s simply wondering (like the article and the rest of us) about when the engagement announcement will take place.

Anyone who believes what she says should believe she doesn’t know…since that is what she says.

  17. SF says:

    Wish them both well.

On a more trivial note – I need that 60s dress she’s wearing in the top photo. Whose dress is it?

Thanks, all — and love to H&M. (The couple, not the shop. Oh hell, love to them, too.)

    • notasugarhere says:

No luck on an ID on the dress. She wore it to an event in 2013, that’s all I can find.

    • HoustonGrl says:

If I had to guess, I would say Tory Burch.

    • Lorelai says:

@SF: re: the dress, all I can find is that it is (apparently, if the person who posted it on Pinterest is correct!), by a designer brand Novis. I tried to find Meghan’s exact dress and couldn’t, but it definitely looks like it fits in with other Novis dresses. I hope you can find it! It’s very pretty.

  18. HoustonGrl says:

I think the engagement will be delayed until after Kate gives birth. I used to be annoyed by that but now I can see why. It’s too risky to plan an engagement around it, better wait until she delivers, God willing all goes well. I think we’re looking at a Christmas 2018 wedding.

    • notasugarhere says:

The entire BRF world doesn’t stop for things like engagement announcements and it wouldn’t need to be planned around KM’s third pregnancy. W&K surprised everyone (including HM) with their announcement while everyone was out doing official appearances, but that was unusual.

All they need is an hour when Charles, Harry, and Meghan are all in London at the same time and no one has a royal engagement scheduled during the hour it takes for the announcement and photos.

They might not choose to have a wedding while Kate Middleton is expecting, but that would be a choice they make not a requirement. For example if they announced now, the wedding *could* be May/June after the third baby is already here. They wouldn’t need to plan their engagement announcement and wedding around when KM is expecting or her vanity related to her post-birth figure.

      • HoustonGrl says:

The entire BRF does stop for engagement announcements because they have to line up everyone’s schedules and move according to protocol. It’s completely a family affair which is why marrying into that family is hard, because you are no longer an individual. Above all, you put the Queen first.

      • nic919 says:

William did not give more than 2 hours notice about the engagement announcement and so the Queen never gave her official consent until a few months before the wedding. Charles and Anne also had engagements that same day because of the short notice.

That said I think Harry is more respectful of the the Queen and her time and so I think he would provide more notice. He was also caught unawares by William’s engagement announcement.

      • jeanne says:

        @nic19

people always say that on here that william sprung the engagement photo call/interview on the royal family but how is that so? what is the gossip behind it? it had to be planned to get all the cameras/interviewers there, right? how on the fly could it have been?

      • notasugarhere says:

HM and PP weren’t at the engagement photo call for Charles and Diana, Edward and Sophie, etc. so they wouldn’t be required at one for Harry.

Only Charles (possibly), Harry, and Meghan would need to be at the announcement, not anyone else. Those are the only three schedules that would need to be consulted.

      • SoulSPA says:

@jeanne, sorry I am bumping in. William is known to be the golden boy and petulant. He gets things his own way with the di card. Plus, how could he not? Diana managed to do the infamous Panorama interview, guess where? Royal premises. Nowhere less than KP if I remember correctly.

  19. Donna says:

This has been a long distance relationship. She’d be marrying into a formulaic, stultifying institution. I’m no fan of hers, but it’s not rocket science to see she brings far more to the relationship than Harry. I hope, with what she’s giving up, that she takes the time to get to know Harry better, then decide if she wants to be a part of The Firm.

    • Bess says:

If Meghan does eventually marry Harry, I hope that she ‘s thought long and hard about having a support system close by to help her navigate marrying into the BRF.

    • SoulSPA says:

Hahaha! I get your point Donna, but Harry, through absolutely no merit of his own but by virtue of birth, brings virtually unlimited funds, luxury that the average people can only picture but are unable to really grasp, media attention that Meghan obviously loves, and a careless life that that tough cookie Meghan can enjoy. No shade towards Meghan since I believe she could bring self confidence and some work ethic. But I am making no illusions. Say they get engaged – they will live together for a few months with little to show so that they will not make mistakes until the marriage. Then marriage and a year or two protected while living the high life. Then eventually babies and more breaks. I am pretty sure of one thing though: she will be no Diana-like and she will be no Kate Dolittle of Lamebridge. She will definitely Sparkle.

Your concern for Meghan’s well being is…touching. However she is a full adult woman who has been up close and personal with the “formulaic, stultifying institution?” you can only hazard a guess at. I’m sure she is well qualified to make decisions for herself.

Suits should have finished 2 seasons ago!

I agree on the “get to know better part”. They need that not as much as knowing each other but looking on how she adapts to the new rules of a royal member or better said to see if she can play that part. God knows Kate took all the time in the world and still when she married she was still not used because Will kept her as a side piece all the time. I hope for an engagement soon and a marriage later. That’s the only real way for her to be somehow part of the family but not fully.

Most of what you write is related to Kate Middleton’s inability to embrace and learn the role, plus William’s unwillingness to commit to her for a decade. Someone else might be able to step in, learn quickly, and adapt just fine.

It did seem like Kate wasn’t included in William’s life before the engagement, which is how it should be IMO. Until you’re committed, especially as a royal, there isn’t much reason to include someone in your inner family circle. Makes breaking up much more difficult on you and your family if they’ve been hanging around for years and years! It did strike me as odd, however, after 10 years of dating that Kate wasn’t a little bit more familiar with her inlaws. They were pretty young when they met, so that’s a factor in the lengthy courtship.

Kate still doesn’t seem familiar with her in laws. I think she just doesn’t care about anything but what William wants. And if the BRF won’t let anyone learn the ropes unless engaged, then Meghan won’t be able to do anything royal like until they are engaged. Which I think has been discussed and she is moving there because they are.
