The Weeknd and Bella Hadid are ‘hanging out, he still loves her’

Well, I guess the Relationship Roulette Wheel has finished rotating. The result? Everyone is exactly where they were when we started. Just as Kaiser predicted, it looks like The Weeknd and Bella Hadid are circling each other once again in the wake of The Weeknd’s split from Selena Gomez. As we know, Selena has decided to revisit her off-again/God no, don’t-again relationship with Justin Bieber. So The Weeknd, who is still searching for an ‘e’ to complete him, has reunited with Bella, for whom he supposedly never stopped caring. Good lord, this sounds like a B-list rom-com plot.

The “Starboy” singer was photographed leaving his supermodel ex-girlfriend’s apartment in New York City on Tuesday night, just a few weeks after splitting from Selena Gomez—who’s also been hanging out with her ex, Justin Bieber.

Multiple sources confirm to E! News that The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) and Bella have been “hanging out” again, and though they aren’t official, their feelings for each other are still very much there.

“Bella and Abel have been in contact since Abel and Selena split, but they are not back together,” a source tells us. “Abel reached out to Bella asking to hang out and catch up, and she decided to see him and see where things go. She knows that if they don’t date again, they can at least be good friends.”

“He has expressed to her that he loves her still, and they will always have a real connection,” the source reveals. “He also apologized for hurting her in the past.”
“She still loves him but has her guard up. She never really got over him,” the insider explains. “She is not looking to be exclusive with him now, just to be his friend. His schedule won’t allow him to stay focused on her—she knows this from past experience. She also knows he is talking to a few girls still. She reads what is put out in the news and that affects her.”

[From E!]

I can only write “The Weeknd” so many times so forgive me but Abel sounds like he can’t be alone for too long. At the time of their breakup, there was speculation that Abel had probably cheated on Bella. There was also the fact that Bella supposedly felt burned by both Abel and Selena when they became a thing. I should hope Bella has her guard up. I don’t understand how he can still love her but not have time in his schedule for her, especially if part of his scheduling conflict is chatting up other girls. Dude, buy yourself a day planner and some priorities.

Alas, even with all the slow caution they’re taking, I think it’s only a matter of time before this pair is official once again. My guess is they will go social media official before they go red carpet official. Selena and Justin are already kissing-in-public official. Maybe they will all settle back into their original relationships and pretend like nothing ever happened like one extended Twilight Zone episode.

Just wanted to thank Hecate for turning a rather boring news item into pure fun. “off-again/God no, don’t-again relationship” made my day 🙂

Supposedly Bella was the one who broke up with Abel. What does he have to apologize for? Serena was the friend of Gigi not Bella. Maybe Bella just wanted a break and it backfired. Either way I like both of these two and I hope they are able to at least be friends.

  3. BlueSky says:

I think they both need to be in high profile relationships to keep people interested.

    • Beth says:

Yes. I don’t think I’d even know who he is if he wasn’t in the relationships

      • Ashley says:

His music is quite popular right now, and it’s actually quite good. It’s much better than most of what is being played on the radio these days. His music might not be in everyone’s taste, but there’s no denying his talent. He’s much more respected and famous in the music industry than Selena. Her music career is a joke. I think him and Bella look amazing together. I have no idea if it will last, but all I can say is that Bella + The Weeknd = Sizzling (take note Taylor Swift and Joe Alywn, this is what actual chemistry looks like) lol

    • Marcus says:

I think people would be interested in them no matter what. Especially in him. His music is unique and intelligent and has a definite style to it. He will continue to be respected at what he does, and Bella is also a rising model with a lot of young fans. I don’t think they are doing this for attention, although this will certainly generate it. If anything, Selena is the one who needs to hang on to relationship drama to generate interest. Without her high profile relationships (Justin, the Weeknd) she has no talent to speak of, and would have faded into the distance a very long time ago, hence her Stage 5 clinging to men and fame.

I think all 4 of them need publicity relationships to keep their profiles up but Abel least of all but it helps. So much about Bella, Beiber, and Selena is hype and spin sooner or later they need to come up with something more interesting. Bella isn’t exactly brimming with personality. Beiber is a jerk, and Selena is a mess. None of them have that spark to elevate them to the A-list.

“The Weeknd needs an ‘e’ to complete him” may be one of the best sentences I’ve read all month.

I love the Weeknd’s music. He’s a very talented songwriter and singer. And I think Bella is absolutely gorgeous. If it doesn’t work out, they seem like they can at least have fun together and have a great friendship. It would be hard to maintain a relationship being young in Hollywood, but they both seem to have healthy attitudes in interviews. They will probably remain in each other lives. Based on photos, he seems to have a better connection with Bella than he did with Selena. I don’t think he ever took that relationship very seriously.

  6. Radley says:

As always, I’m bemused that anyone takes these on/off/on stunts seriously.

I think they may be grooming Bella in the mold of the Kardashians. Just no. Another one with the personality of a doorknob a team of publicists and managers are making happen.

I also don’t get people who buy into the Weeknd’s bad boy druggie persona. He’s not edgy in reality and that’s ok. I hate how he’s marketed.

I just loathe the fakeness. That is all.

    • mike says:

His entire persona was about drugs. He has been an underground star since 2010 and his early music was all about drugs and sex. He is not a bad guy in person but I thought that was a good thing

    • Janna says:

Canadian here – the Weeknd is from Toronto, and from what I hear around here, his persona isn’t really fake at all. Except, like Mike said, he isn’t actually a “bad” guy! He’s a good person (which is a good thing, no?) who sings about his experiences in the party lifestyle. I actually like the way he talks about sex and drugs in his songs. He’s telling a story, and does it well. Of all the current celebs out there, these guys don’t really seem fake to me in comparison. Bella is in no way anything like a Kardashian. I have ZERO respect for that family, and I don’t know anyone who does. The only thing I can see they have in common is growing up rich, but Bella gives the impression that she has some morals and an actual soul. Plus, she has always been pretty! I dunno, I like these 2 and think they look good together. There are so many celebs I’d rather hate on than these guys!

  7. JA says:

Even with all this melo middle school drama, these people are beyond boring! Remember when the Weeknd described wanting to be a mystery? Good god, I want you both to be a mystery too so go away!

  8. Mash says:

I’m going to take a second and be an armchair therapist here. Based on what I’ve gathered about Abel’s early life coupled with his lyrics and seeing how his dating life is going…I’m going to say he has attachment and abandonment issues.

  9. Danielle says:

I get the sense that both gigi and bella hadid are nice, low drama girls. Selena seems like an exciting, dramatic girl – that can be super fun until it’s exhausting. I think Abel was SUPER, crazy into selena for awhile, but after that ended I can see where he appreciated bella more, and was interested in getting back together. Of course, this is based on interviews and their past relationships, so I could be way off base.

    • Lentils says:

I think you’re right about Gigi and Bella. They do come across as low drama, nice girls who happen to lead a very glamourous lifestyle. I was so surprised to hear that the Weeknd was dating Selena. “Exciting” is certainly not a word I’d associate with her, she looks about as thrilling as cold oatmeal, but dramatic, definitely! Selena has always struck me as very insecure. As much as I like Abel, I feel like he only went into that relationship to see how much publicity it would generate. I’m sure he quickly found out it wasn’t worth the trouble to be involved in her “teen drama” world. Going from a VS Model to that mess probably wasn’t the best life choice. I’m sure he’s relieved that she’s still willing to speak to him and hopefully he will avoid those PR type of relationships in the future.

This guy has dated some gorgeous women, and must have hidden charms. They certainly aren’t obvious in photos.

  11. Ash says:

Interesting comment. To each their own, but I don’t see anything wrong with his looks if that was the suggestion here. He has a handsome face, dresses well, and has a nice voice. I can see why girls like him. I personally think he’s cute.
