Meghan Markle’s acting career is over. She had it better than most actresses – she was part of a popular cable ensemble, Suits, and she was paid well and taken care of by the network for years. She’s 36 years old and she’s ready to move on, which is her right. What’s nice though is that her former costars adored her! Her Suits love interest, Patrick Adams, posted the above IG yesterday when the news came out. I suspect he – along with several other people on Suits – knew full well that Meghan would end up marrying Harry. Still, it’s nice.
She said she was just going out to get some milk… https://t.co/y7cnM0eC9D

Playing Meghan’s television partner for the better part of a decade uniquely qualifies me to say this: Your Royal Highness, you are a lucky man and I know your long life together will be joyful, productive and hilarious. Meghan, so happy for you, friend. Much love.

I like that he directs a comment to Harry, and that Harry is “lucky” to be with Meghan. I sort of agree – what was on display yesterday was that Meghan and Harry see themselves as equals, a team, and that she helps him enormously and he’s a better version of himself with her. Here’s a tweet from the creator of Suits:
Congratulations to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on their engagement. Wonderful news, I wish you both a lifetime of happiness. Love, Aaron

Here are tweets from her on-screen father, Wendell Pierce:
Congratulations to my TV daughter Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on the news of their wedding engagement. Harry you have her TV Father’s blessing. Robert Zane approves @Suits_USA

Sigh… isn’t it nice that Meghan has lived and worked out in the world, and that she has actual coworkers who will stand up for her?
What else? Lin-Manuel Miranda is happy about the royal engagement too.
It's crazy, everyone is dancing in the streets here!

That was a brilliant “milk” tweet from Patrick.
Yes, it’s so well worded and kind. I love it.
I swear, the “milk” tweet is now among my favorite tweets of all time.
+1 My poor hubby is still upset she is leaving his favorite show. I have been telling him for months but the poor thing is still upset. Lol
I love the milk tweet!
Love Suits and love this!! Patrick has always seemed like such a good sport to me, and I loved both his tweet (LOL at the milk thing) and IG post.
Awww this is so bittersweet. I think Patrick’s milk tweet went viral cause that’s a crazy amount of retweets/likes
I’m really happy for them but everything feels so staged and everyone is too busy with the love story to notice.
Remember she is marrying into a family with official protocols for everything. Every thing will be staged to be presented in the best light. Hopefully she being an actress will prepare her for a life of carefully curated public moments.
True story: my brother lives in Toronto and works as a lawyer in a building they were filming a suits scene in. He often works until very late (lawyer hours), and one day he walked off the elevator right into the middle of a suits scene they were filming!
I guess they assumed no one else would be there that late? Needless to say they weren’t very happy with him.
He gets lost all the time and is oblivious. He was on his cell at this moment where he interrupted the scene. My dad calls him, ‘wrong way Robert ‘ because he doesn’t have any sense of direction. But he’s lawyer smart and I love him!!!
Megan wasn’t there but all the others were.
Cute story.
