Get ready for more “T-shirt Time” with your favorite northeastern party animals, as MTV is reuniting (most of) the cast of their juggernaut hit reality series Jersey Shore for a new project. In its heyday, the series averaged 9 million viewers an episode. The show ran for six seasons, from 2009 to 2012, and blessed audiences with several spin-offs, including Snooki & JWoww and The Show With Vinny.
The cable network made the announcement on Monday during the premiere of its newest reality series, Floribama Shore (think Jersey Shore, but with rednecks). Both shows are the products of creator/executive producer SallyAnn Salsano. The new series, set to debut sometime in 2018, is called Jersey Shore Family Vacation, and will catch us up with original cast members Deena Nicole Cortese, Paul “Pauly D” Delvecchio, Jenni “JWoww” Farley, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino.
The cast shared the good (?) news with social media. Mike posting the network’s teaser clip, declaring, “It’s Official! We’re Back Bitches!!! Greatness Returns 2018.” And, replying to a Twitter user named Al Bundy, who said, “You guys are a bit too old for the Jersey Shore,” Snooki wrote “I’m 29, 2 kids, Married & can still funnel wine and do cartwheels on the dance floor. We aren’t dead Bundy.”

Absent from this reunion is Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola, whose rollercoaster relationship with Ronnie was a central plot line to the show. A source told US Magazine that, “Everyone was invited to come on the show but Sammi was the only one who didn’t want to. A big reason for that was because she didn’t want to be around Ronnie. She has been enjoying her life off of TV and didn’t want to change that.” I’d never thought I’d ever say this, but good for you, Sammi.
This isn’t the first time the ol’ GTL gang has gotten back together. Back in August, E! aired Jersey Shore’s Reunion Road Trip, where the cast, minus Deena, Ronnie and Vinny, took a road trip at the behest of an 18-months sober Situation, who wanted to make amends for his past misdeeds.
Hey, I’ll admit it, the original Jersey Shore held a sort of perverse curiosity in the Corey household (the fact that we vacationed on the shore with my ex-husband’s family every summer may have influenced that a bit), but I really don’t need to see Snooki et al. again. But hey, kudos for milking that 15 minutes of fame.

I don’t care how tacky or garbage this show is – I need this in my life. I am so excited for this guys, you don’t even know. Something non-political and dumb- and I get to watch people be absolutely foolish for an hour or whatever. It’s the small things.
Do you remember when Deena talked about how she used her tampon? I do. Like I get some people aren’t bright but that whole convo shook me to the core.

I think this is mostly the cast clamoring for a paycheck. I can’t imagine a huge amount of people dying for this to come back-this show was SO of a certain time.

Deena wasn’t a part of the original cast. She replaced Angelina. I wish Sammi were on the show and not Ronnie. But good for her for not continuing to engage in their toxic relationship.
Sammy not being at the reunion actually makes it more appealing to me. I hated her, especially her toxic relationship with Ronnie.
