Chris Martin, to me, is only as interesting as who he’s dating or married to. I found him interesting, from a gossip perspective, when he was married to Gwyneth Paltrow and when he dated Jennifer Lawrence. The time he spent dating Annabelle Wallis was basically lost time for me – I didn’t care about him at all, because I don’t find Wallis interesting. So how should I feel about the confirmation that Chris is dating Dakota Johnson? The background on this is that after Chris and Wallis split up, he maybe briefly dated Katy Perry (possibly), and then Dakota Johnson split with her boyfriend over the summer, and maybe Dakota was juggling men – she reportedly went on a few dates with Jon Hamm, and then maybe went out with Chris Martin? Well, Chris Martin is the one who stuck around.
New couple alert! Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin are dating, multiple sources confirm to Us Weekly.
“Dakota and Chris are definitely dating,” the source tells Us Weekly. “They’ve gotten to know each other really well and are very comfortable from one another. Chris sends Dakota his music to get her opinion. It’s more than just a fling.” The 50 Shades of Grey star, 28, and Coldplay frontman, 40, were spotted together at Nick Cave’s concert in Israel last month. The pair was also seen having dinner with the singer at Yam Sheva restaurant in Herzliya.
“They came in and they were really, really nice, like extremely nice. It was a surprise,” an eyewitness told Us about the duo. “They sat with Nick Cave too. I didn’t see them kiss or hold hands or anything like that. They ordered some starters and not a lot of food.”
This is not the first time Johnson and Martin have been seen together. The couple went on a date at Sushi Park in Los Angeles last month. “Chris and Dakota walked in together and sat at a table for two tucked away in the corner,” an onlooker told Us. “They seemed very happy to see each other and immediately jumped into conversation. She was catching him up on work and the different projects she has coming up. She was telling him where she is going to be and asking him what he thought. They both seemed to really respect each other’s opinions. Chris was very charming and personable. His face lit up when he was talking to her. He hummed a little bit and asked her what she thought of a song. She clearly loves his music and was really into it. They were flirty and laughing the entire meal. He paid for dinner and held the door for her. They both thanked the chefs on the way out.”
I might have fallen asleep as I read that. Which probably doesn’t bode well for my interest in either of them! For the record, I sort of like Dakota. She’s not the most fascinating woman in the world, nor is she most stylish, but I like that she’s low-key and she does her own thing. I can’t imagine her signing up for weekends at Consciously Uncoupled Goopville, which may be the dealbreaker here, since Chris’s life is still largely micromanaged by his ex-wife. Also: why does Chris Martin have such a thing for actresses? Hm.

Chris Martin is, judging by his interviews, a really charming guy. Much wittier than your average singer. And Dakota can also be really funny in a low key sort of way. I think they really suit eachother, minus the age gap.
I love Chris Martin .. and I love Coldplay. I don’t get the hate for him or them. Bah to each their own. 🙂

He’s really funny most of the time.
I actually like her style a lot. But I like a bit quirk and uniqueness. Dakota has grown on me a bit. She is the only decent thing about the Fifty shades series. And I liked her in How To Be Single. But yes – Chris is boring and together they don’t seem all that interesting either. And am I the only one tired of over 40 male celebs daying young actresses in their 20’s? It’s such a tired trope. Date someone your own age Chris!

I haven’t seen her act, but I think she’s super cute from pictures. Her face is interesting to me because it has puffiness and lines and looks untweaked. Beautiful.
