Vanity Fair on Gisele’s semi-naked low-selling cover: she’s losing her looks

vfgisele
Gisele was Vanity Fair’s May cover girl, and for the honor of a Vanity Fair cover (that wasn’t “The Fashion Issue” or whatever), Gisele dished big-time about her husband Tom Brady, Tom’s ex bridget Moynahan, and the son Bridget and Tom share custody of, John Moynahan. There were a couple of now infamous quotes from that article, including Gisele referring to John as “my son” and calling Bridget’s pregnancy “a wake-up call”. All of that juicy gossip ‘twas all for naught, however. Because that issue of Vanity Fair was the lowest-selling issue of the magazine in two years.

That, in itself, is just a media story, or even an economic story, because who really buys Vanity Fair on the newsstands during a recession, after all? But unfortunately for Gisele, a Vanity Fair spokeswoman decided to “joke” and give a “reason” for the slumped May sales. Spokeswoman Beth Kseniak told the New York Observer, “It might be that she’s losing her looks.” Oh, snap! I guess Beth is Team Moynahan all the way:

Gisele, it turns out, doesn’t sell.

Vanity Fair and Harper’s Bazaar each put Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen on covers this year, and both promptly had their worst-selling issues off the newsstand in 2009.

The May Vanity Fair, which featured a bare-bodied Gisele, standing sideways with a come-hither look, sold only 280,000 single sale copies, the lowest total for the magazine in nearly two years, according to the Audit Bureau of Circulations Rapid Report.

Harper’s Bazaar’s April issue, meanwhile sold only 132,000 copies, its lowest total of the year and its lowest since November 2008, when Drew Barrymore was on the cover.

Harper’s Bazaar has averaged about 155,000 single copy sales this year, and Vanity Fair has averaged 342,000.

“It might be that she’s losing her looks,” quipped Vanity Fair spokeswoman Beth Kseniak.

Considering the number of covers that Gisele Bundchen has graced this year—including the July issue of German Glamour and German Elle—magazine publishers and editors are crossing their fingers that she has more appeal overseas.

Ms. Kseniak also pointed out that when Gisele graced the Vanity Fair cover in September 2007, it was the third-biggest seller that year.

One industry source said that some newsstand sales were affected in earlier this year after Anderson News, a major distributor, suspended its business operations, though publishers feel that all distribution problems have been ironed out.

[From The New York Observer]

If someone was asking me for my response to why people didn’t pick up a Vanity Fair magazine with Gisele on the cover, I would just say: “Women buy the magazines, and women generally don’t care for or about Gisele, no matter what she wears, does or says.” It’s totally true (anecdotally, at least) – I’ve found most women are either utterly ambivalent about Gisele, or they really, really dislike her.

But was the Vanity Fair’s spokeswoman out of line, even if it was a “joke”? The guy at Cover Awards thinks the comment makes Vanity Fair look “mean and pathetic” and says that Vanity Fair should be offering Gisele an apology right now. I’m not sure if Gisele will get an apology, but I know she’s not going to get any more covers for any of the Conde Nast publications.

Maybe its because nobody wants to read about Gisele? Its frickin Vanity Fair not a fashion magazine. I find this hilarious though because her Harper’s Bazaar cover was also the lowest selling. Fashion people are always bitching and whining about models not getting covers yet here you have a model(albiet an extremely overexposed one) on a cover and not selling.

  2. Shane says:

So on the cover she’s the most beautiful girl in the world. But if that overpriced slag of a magazine doesn’t sell than she’s losing her looks.

    Go figure.

  3. Ggirl says:

Gisele is gorgeous. Vanity Fair is the one with the problem. VF also dropped one of my favorite astrologers, Michael Lutin. They are trying too hard.

  4. Jenny says:

I always thought people end up on the cover of Vanity Fair because they might have an interesting movie, album, television show coming out that they would like to promote. Giselle has nothing going on other than claiming Bridget Moynihan’s child as her own and marrying a quarterback who dumped his pregnant girlfriend. My personal favorite story about Gis is when she bought a special baby gift for Bridget’s child, a tshirt that says, “Future supermodel.” Classy.

  5. geronimo says:

I like Giselle, think she’s really attractive with a great body, but I think that pic of her on the cover is unattractive – the pose, the hunched shoulders, the almost curvature of the spine. If they were going for ‘line of beauty’, they missed.

Re the comment, tongue in cheek perhaps, ie. so obviously absurd that it was never to be taken seriously since Gisele’s plainly not losing her looks? Probably something much more mundane like people just not spending money on glossy mags.

  6. Cinderella says:

She is quite overrated. I don’t think many women care for her, either. The interview didn’t help her image in any way.

She may have a great body and head of hair, but that face is nothing to write home about.

  7. Gloaming says:

methinks Jonny Depp’s cover won’t have problems selling.

I’m still pretty baffled by VF’ choices these days, Gisele? Jessica Simpson………….. Whats next Speidi?
    Oh god, perish the thought.
I think they should keep the good ol’ fashioned movie stars on the cover.

  8. drica says:

    honestly… i don’t see her appeal

i’m a woman and i think that rachel weisz, kate winslet, elizabeth banks, chyler leigh, etc etc are more beautiful and real than gisele.

in the fashion world adriana lima, alessandra ambrósio and even bar refaeli have bodys and faces hotter than her. that’s my opinion for me she shouldn’t be the number one model

  9. jess says:

she’s had so much plastic surgery to look the way she does, and she still has major masculine features. she has a hot body, and everyone knows that the better your body, the hotter guys think you are.

  10. QB says:

I never found Gisele that atractive and I hate how they try to make her out to be the woman who was bringing curve back to fashion( what curves ??), Plus she is not that interesting , just like Jessica Biel they are butterface with no personality.

    I love her hair.

  11. teehee says:

I think were all burnt out on all this naked crap and topless junk– constantly trying to allure people and overstimulate us– it dulls the senses and tires us out. Every magazin is competing, nd often with the exact same tactics— why should we fall for it each time, like trained Pavlovian dogs… give us something new or at least just tone it down and remain focused on content not sensationalism.

  12. MDD says:

    Yaaaaaaaaaaaawn….

  13. anonymous says:

    She’s definitely fug.

  14. OXA says:

I have never seen her appeal, she has a lean body and it photographs ok. She never had looks to lose.

  15. lrm says:

yea, semi naked=boooooooring. been done already. and with her athletic type of build,or slender athletic, they should have showcased her differently.
I already bought the Depp issue! [of course,i was at the airport, but still…had bough the J simpson one for the same reason last month-and god,ws that article boring!!!! ]
Depp, while infinitely more talented and interesting/intelligent/artistic than either simpson or gisele, has the added benefit of NOT being overexposed. I love the guy’s work, but I’ve hardly seen him in interviews lately. He keeps a relatively low profile, which makes him all the more interesting and makes me more curious.
that, and yea,i think ‘he must have something interesting to say’,b/c i respect him, unlike gisele or simpson. no,not b/c they are females.
there are female stars who do not interview with the same talking points over and over again, and i’d love to see them interviewed. would buy the issue. sandra bullocks cool;so’s kate winslett, altho’ she’s been exposed alot lately and her interviews are getting boring.
Uma Thurman: She’s the female equivalent to Depp for me-gorgeous,elusive,eccentric and an imminent artiste who’s a bit shy. Would love to read about her and see her on VF

  16. Enonymous says:

I agree it is kind of mean and pathetic that Vanity Fair would act this way, Ouch for Gisele.

  17. Gistine says:

I didn’t buy it because I think she is a bitch. How about that?

  18. Ned says:

Some women only like women they feel aren’t better than them (like Jen Aniston). Anyone who is too pretty and successful inspires envy and hate. Then, these sad women punish successful women by saying nasty things (she’s a slut, whore, arrogant, a snot, bitch, c***, etc). Some women are jealous freaks and need to get over their pathetic little insecurities. Looks and money aren’t everything. There are so many other things in life: like being a good person, doing good deeds, spirituality, and so forth.

  19. Enonymous says:

Well said Ned, I totally agree.

  20. Iggles says:

Ned, I disagree on this topic. Gisele isn’t very attractive in my opinion because she DOES have masculine features. It’s not just people being catty. If we said she was fat, which is an obvious LIE, then it would be witchy. But, nope. Not this time..

  21. drica says:

i’m not jealous of her lool i just don’t get why the hell this woman is the super hyper mega topmodel in the world when there’s sooooo many other models more beautiful and hotter than her. and i never called her ugly she’s not that pretty for me. check adriana lima’s photos and see what a real topmodel looks like now that’s curves ladies and gentlemans

  22. Orangejulius says:

Geronimo, I had exactly the same thought. It’s a very unflattering pose; her body usually looks amazing. Who’s brilliant idea was it to pick that particular shot?

  23. Ellie says:

I think she’s beautiful and natural, and I definitely don’t think she is losing her looks. Whatevs.

  24. Ana says:

    LMAO – gistine!
Just because you don’t find somebody pretty doesn’t mean that you’re jealous a majority of the time.
The way Gisele comes off in interviews gives her a sense of arrogance and she says some pretty insensitive stuff. Just because you’re pretty on the outside doesn’t make you pretty on the inside and I think that shows through.
Personally, I think Adriana Lima is hotter.

  25. I definitely don’t think she is ‘losing her looks’, but I do think she is boring. She doesn’t really have an appeal. You also have to remember that a lot of people are having problems paying their rent let alone being able to buy magazines.

  26. Rosanna says:

Ditto Ned! On top of it, Gisele doesn’t play nice and that why so many American women don’t like her… they’d rather side with the one who – in all likelihood – got pregnant on purpose just to push Brady to get a grip on his wandering eye and settle, and they do because BM sounded like any other insecure “aging” woman. It’s no mystery that BM’s personality is, for most women, easier to relate to than Gisele’s. That is because Gisele is from another planet! A person like her, who could have been easily crushed because she is too tall, skinny, and blonde to “look Brazilian” or simply sexy was resilient enough to feel self-confident even when discovering that her bf’s ex is pregnant. Not only that, she even adores the child! Gisele is beautiful, way more inside than outside. Kudos to her and who cares of whoever doesn’t like her? Gisele you rock 🙂

  27. yasmin says:

Isn’t it a bit harsh to blame the covergirl? Do people REALLY think women pick up magazine’s based only on the cover?? I’m not buying a magazine if it doesn’t have a bit of substance, so maybe its the writer’s faults eh?

Look at her. She doesn’t look any different so how could she be losing her looks? that’s just silly. But I agree that she is kinda boring. She’s not ugly or anything, but I have never understood why she is a supermodel.

  28. yasmin says:

Ned, just go away. You always write annoying comments that just make it SO obvious that you know nothing about women. Only people under the age of 16 (or with a mental capacity of that) think that just cos a woman doesn’t find another woman attractive that means she is jealous.
Uhhm, do you find every guy that walks the earth hot? No? Well…

  29. Jan says:

I never thought she was good looking. Ever. But that doesn’t excuse Vanity Fair’s behavior.
VF normally puts artists who have done something amazing on the cover.
A skinny little man-stealer with nothing intelligent to say doesn’t sell and we’re supposed to be surprised?

  30. mxml says:

that was a pathetic thing for them to say about her. a woman like that should not be publishing a woman’s magazine. that is the last thing we need — more women telling other women how if their looks go then nobody will want them.

  31. McKenna says:

Although I don’t think she is classically beautiful, I do think she has a certain something. That “it” factor if you will. She is definitely hot. But I agree that she is overrated. I cannot understand how she is the highest paid model and the most famous supermodel. Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio are so much more beautiful. And Ned, if women are all just jealous and catty, then why is it that I’ve never heard any man ever say that she is their fantasy woman?

  32. Bodhi says:

I dunno, I’ve always thought that she is fug as hell. A mans face on a smoking bod is still a mans face…

And no, I’m not jealous in the slightest. I just think she has an ugly face & is boring to boot.

    Bring on the Johnny!!!

  33. Ling says:

Well, people don’t buy vanity fair for the nudity, do they? They buy them for the insightful bios and editorials, and the interesting people on the cover. I don’t think supermodels are as much on the public consciousness as actors or politicians.

  34. sarcra says:

I may be wrong, but I think it was an obvious joke not meant to be taken seriously. The cover even implies Gisele may be the most beautiful woman in the world. It’s like joking that George Clooney can’t get a woman. It’s just not true. So it’s not really insulting.

  35. Dirty Martini says:

Gisele is gorgeous, but face it: she’s a clothes hanger. This is nothing remotely interesting about her, no one wants to read about her, and most people find her insipid and boring. The best story to tell about her is Tom Brady, Bridget whatever and that baby?

Puh Leez. Not a reason to buy a magazine. We all already know the story–ad nauseum. And it wasnt particularly interesting the first time.

What sells magazines arent the pictures on the cover, but the story behind the pictures on the cover….

    ….and hers is …yawn…zzzzzz…..

  36. Rosalee says:

I got the magazine because I subscribe, but if I had to purchase it, unlikely. I just did not see the point of her being on the cover of VF, was there a culturally significant contribution that I was unaware of other than looking beautiful? I did not see the point of Simpson, Hilton or any other questionable celebrity. It appears my once favorite magazine is losing its’ edge. I stopped buying People and Us Weekly for the same reason, over fawning of celebrities.

  37. Magsy says:

Gissy looks like a very pretty ironing board.

  38. Wresa says:

I think its because she’s overexposed. She’s on every billboard for every different brand, and she does semi-nudes all the time, so its not really exciting anymore. It seems like the magazines should try to be more creative with photoshoots instead of going for the “it was the wind that blew my top off” soft core photos they take all the time.

  39. debra says:

I think it is all about interest. The “Super Model” is gone. That term means nothing anymore. Fashion has been taken over by TV and Movie stars. That is where people are getting their fashion ideas. Not from the model.. Michele Obama can sell more mags. She is not a model. People don’t care who models are dating or about their lives. I don’t know any of them. I’m sure men do, but they don’t buy fashhion or entertainment mags. Times are changing. These mags are going to have to change in order to survive. Plus when money is short who wants to spend it on a mag that contains maybe 2 or 3 articles or stories you are interested in. NOT ME.

  40. lola lola says:

Gisele has never been a beautiful woman. It’s the BODY, duh! She has a fab body and that has made her very rich…and sorry to VF but her body still looks incredible and will, I suspect, for many years to come.

  41. Jag says:

The comment was rude, even if it were a joke, and VF should apologize.

That being said, I don’t like Gisele, and I don’t buy overpriced magazines.

  42. pinkdeerhunt says:

    i’m with NED on this.

  43. c says:

Meh. Don’t think it’s that great of a photo actually and she seems rather flat. shrug.

  44. Giz says:

I actually got a free copy of the issue at an art gallery.

  45. GimmeABreak says:

I’ve gotten VF for years. The only article that was even MORE boring than this one…Chestica Simpson. Couldn’t even read either of them. Who cares about Football players and their girl friends/wives. BORING!!

Who’s next? Bret Favre’s high school prom date?
VF better get back on the ball or this year will be my last.

  46. K McFarlane says:

I’m not terribly interested in Gisele. But I’m even less interested in Jessica Simpson. Doesn’t Vanity Fair pull the big stars anymore?

  47. Trashaddict says:

Thin thin white blond girl. Dime a dozen. But can look really smashing when photographed the right way. People forget that it’s partly done with smoke and mirrors. Unless you have somebody with character like Johnny Depp or say Audrey Hepburn.
But pretty is as pretty does, and I would not buy the Giselle cover or the Simpson cover (my dollars are not supporting the income of a woman like that!), based on personal principle. Hope Vanity Fair figures this out.

  48. Zoe (The Other One) says:

    Woah, how totally unpredictable.

    If you don’t think a woman looks attractive on this site then the stock standard response (usually from Ned) is that the reason you don’t think she’s attractive is because you are;

    a) fat
    b) old
    c) ugly
    d) jealous

Can’t you understand that even if I were ALL of those things (which I probably have been at some point in my life) the reason I don’t think Gisele is attractive is because SHE HAS A FUGLY FACE. Pure and simple.

I can happily acknowledge what I consider to be attractive in another woman – and regularly do – by Ned’s reasoning that means I’m a lesbian no?

  49. Ned says:

I never quite understood how Gisele became a successful model (other than that magic of being Leo’s girl has on their status in the fashion industry).

This girl is not pretty, and has a straight looking body with no hips or waistline.

Unless you like boys or thin men, I can’t see the appeal on that body type.

Other than that, Gisele is not even remotely interesting. She lacks charisma.

I do think that is why actresses and singers are rightly grabbing all the big fashion campaigns.
They are more interesting and many times prettier than the models.

Something went awry in the fashion industry, because they forgot how to choos beautiful women with great bodies.

I thought that was what modeling was all about.

  50. Rachel says:

@Cinderella: you got it right!! Giselle is over-rated & just another boring white hollywood woman who is getting fame for not doing much! Most people outside of the European race have no clue who she is & certainly wouldn’t give her a second glance. I saw her not long ago on the street & I completely passed her by until I saw the paparazzi following her. And no I’m not jealous either – I’m a model too. There is work for all of us. But Giselle is no Adriana Lima- she is beautiful.

  51. Kylie says:

Honestly, who looks at magazines covers and buys it just because of who is on the cover?????? If you like a particular mag – you buy it. End of story!

  52. Ron says:

The thing about models is that they are there to look at, chances are I have no interest in anything they have to expound to me in an interview. Yoga or pilates? MAC or Lancome? Nothing is going to make you look like them..so who cares about their interview. And really niether are big magazine sales months so that add to the effect.

  53. Kay says:

Couldn’t be, regardless of her looks, women are disgusted by her comments and the circumstances around Bridgette’s baby and her disgusting arrogant comments. Women who buy the mags, don’t like that attitude. Also women don’t like women who think they are all that, and whatever they do, is super. Have a little humility.

  54. Christina X says:

I may not like Giselle’s personality, but I’ve always found her to be pretty. I prefer larger noses on people.

Commence the “ALL THIN WOMEN ARE UGLY!!!1!!!!!!” or the “SHE HAS A FLAT ASS AND NO BOOBS!” comments. I’m sure they’re waiting to tear Giselle apart for her natural thin figure.

Whoever said that the better your body is, the hotter men find you is dead on. It’s kind of sad, really that having a beautiful face is simply not good enough for most men anymore.

And I disagree with the fact that women only prefer to like/admire other women they aren’t “intimidated” by. I don’t like obnoxious skank women and if guys think that makes me a “jellis h8r” by default, that’s fine because I know I’m not.

The shy, quiet, pretty girls finish last.

For the record, Ron, supermodels aren’t genetic freaks of nature. In the morning they look as “ugly” as everyone else does. And you’re right- nothing’s going to make you look like a supermodel when you don’t have 4 hours of makeup or airbrushing to mask every “flaw” about your body.

  55. Ursula says:

So we buy magazines because of the looks of someone on the cover? VH are crap, she has made them money in the past, why trash her? She doesn’t look any different than she did the last time she was on their cover.Me thinks someone just wants to crush her out of the industry, there is politics involved.

I disagree that women hate people who look better than them and call them names. Natalie Portman looks better than many but no one is calling her trash. Notice that those who care called trash have been trash anyway.

  56. Christina X says:

Re: “This girl is not pretty, and has a straight looking body with no hips or waistline.

Unless you like boys or thin men, I can’t see the appeal on that body type.”

This is the kind of comment I find very insulting. I don’t have “hips”, so I guess that makes me manly, right?

For years I’ve been struggling with my self-esteem over my body type. I’m a small framed woman with a tiny ass and narrow hips, and even though I’m not thin, for YEARS I had to hear about how “masculine” my body is because I simply can’t gain weight in these areas, no matter how much I eat.

I’m tired of people in our society not allowing me to feel feminine because I don’t have the dimensions of a f-king porn star, and by stating that I’m “built like a boy” and how “men don’t find me appealing” because of my narrow hips, I’m constantly reminded why I hide my body, why I feel so distorted, hideous, and awkward when I look at my body in the mirror.

I never thought I’d say this, but some of these women you call “men” make me feel as though I fit in and feel beautiful as part of that demographic and I feel vicariously more secure about my looks when a heterosexual male demographic still finds beauty in these “women who look like men”. I hope it never changes.

I’m sorry for not filling out in all the right places, since you clearly have the authority on what’s feminine beauty and what isn’t, in your delusional and narrow mind.

  57. BlueSkies says:

Not a pretty face. Great hair and bod. It is amazing how many people fall for the hair and body and never really take someone’s face into consideration. She would have been a hot guy it seems.

  58. Enonymous says:

Christina X I agree with you. As for the rest of the comments out here, it always ends up with people nitpicking someones looks and criticizing them for it even when the topic has nothing to do with it. This just proved Ned’s first comment right (NOT his second one).

Even in the Michelle Pfeiffer thread some people were not just happy to simple compliment an obvious attractive woman, they had to list and even show photos of all the plastic surgery she might or might not had. That is very sad and although I hate the word “jealousy” in a thread because it can be thrown around way too often, however, comments like these can come off just that, jealous.

  59. geronimo says:

LMAO!! Ned lecturing other people about envy and hate and being jealous bitter hags!!! Now I’ve really heard everything!!

Anyone wanting to see Ned’s very (ahem) selective ‘objectivity’ in full, comical play can pop over to the current Kate Winslet thread or any Jennifer Garner or Jolie thread for a mouth-wateringly bile-filled, hypocritical read.

By the way, are you posting as a man or a woman on here? Your first post tried to suggest an objective male, but then your ‘bitch’ came tumbling out in the second one so did you just get confused? Did your ‘good person, doing good deeds, spirituality, and so forth’ pop out to the shop and leave your alone with your insecure, jealous little self? Was that what happened? LOL!

  60. Amy says:

i think its strange that both men and womens magazines put half naked women on their covers. they should have done an entertainment weekly and put a half naked ryan reynolds or hell even christian bale on their covers. then they’d shift some units-us girls dont get a lot to drool ova!

  61. BlueSkies says:

Enon, the Pfeifer thread wasn’t jealousy working it was just people pointing out that most people in Hollywood weren’t born like that and showing people to not get down on themselves for not being that ideal.

  62. Marianne says:

This cover and the article about Gisele reminded me of why I always thought that the concept “supermodel” was plain stupid. I don’t understand why models should be celebrities and why people should be interested in them. Yeah, they look good and take good pictures, but, so what? There are many models I like, but I’m not interested enough to care about who they date, where they go or what they have to say. As long as they wear the clothes right and pose nicely, that’s enough. I don’t need to see them speaking.
Gisele’s interviews are always the same bullshit. She talks about her dog, her mom, how she stopped smoking, how she “eats everything and never gets fat” and banalities like that.
Why would someone buy Vanity Fair, known as a pretty intellectual entertainment magazine, to read this stuff? And, Gisele, the most beautiful woman in the world? Sorry to break it to you, but the world is a fairly big place and I assure you she’s not even among the 50 most beautiful women in the world.
I wonder what’s happening to VF this year. First the obnoxious Gisele and then, the even more obnoxious Jessica Simpson. I wonder what’s next.

  63. Yoshi.6 says:

Perhaps they should put Bridgets picture on the front. She is much more beautiful than tranny looking Giselle.

  64. not_a_strawman says:

    @ Amy

Good point! Women aren’t interested unless they swing that way.

  65. tasteT says:

    @Ned,

I beg to differ, most women probably feel like I do, she is a regular model type, nothing special, she def does not deserve to be on Vanity Fair.

She’s ok, if she were adding acting to her resume, she’d be more popular..
I just don’t feel she is “gorgeous”..
I have seen better Victoria Secret Models that are “stunning”..her body is nice but her face is OK..she is just not that interesting, does hse even speak understandable english?? uh, right..

because we don’t agree that she is beautiful–that means women are jealous?? LOL, you could have kept that comment because it is garbage!

  66. FF says:

So are you saying the Jessica Simpson cover sold more copies? Is that what we’re saying?

  67. Ned says:

    Christina x-
“for YEARS I had to hear about how “masculine” my body is because I simply can’t gain weight in these areas, no matter how much I eat.”

Sweetie, I hate to break it to you, but if you aspire to be a sex symbol or make a career out of people being impressed with your beauty and think you are sexy, well- perhaps you would like to reconsider that career.

    Gisele is a professional model.
I wouldn’t come up to a woman who is a doctor and explain why I am confused about her success, since she looks like a boy and has no “personality”.

  68. Ned says:

FF, most chances are that Jessica Simpston would sell more (anything) than Gisele.

I think people would be more inclined to look at a sexy body or someone with personality like Kiera Knightly.

  69. Ned says:

    tasteT:
When did I blame anybody of being jealous here?

It seems you are thinking along the lines of what I have said.

  70. Rebekah says:

The world has seen her naked so many times, does it really matter that she’s half-dressed in this photo?

Geronimo, you took the words right out of my mouth. I particularly love the first comment about women only lik(ing) women they feel aren’t better than them (like Jen Aniston). Doesn’t (s)he usually defend her to death on the Brangelina threads?

AAAAAND, that looks and money aren’t everything. There are so many other things in life: like being a good person, doing good deeds, spirituality, and so forth. But anything Angie Jo or Jen Garner do are just for publicity and to atone for “stealing” people’s significant others?!

What a comedy of errors this person is!

    @ Rosanna

So I’m sure you must know Bridgett M personally to know that she got pregnant on purpose to “keep” her boyfriend. Right? Please don’t pretend that you know what went on in her personal life.

    Hahahaha, Ned.

You’re so freaking wrong. I don’t want to be a model or capitalize on my looks but like most women, I’d like to have a boyfriend or husband who is impressed by my beauty.

Besides, who the hell are YOU to judge what’s considered beautiful or not? Funny for someone who has NEVER SEEN ME to call me ugly.

For the record, from the neck up, I think I’m beautiful, and many people I know are willing to testify my physical attractiveness.

I find it so hypocritical of you to defend curvy women for their “healthy” body image, but you turn around and insult women for having a different body type. How does THAT encourage a healthy body image for women?

Thin can be gorgeous too. This whole “all thin women are ugly” fad needs to go away, because it’s just as emotionally conflicting and unhealthy as the fad that preceded it that all body fat is banishable.

And I don’t know about anyone else, but when the anti-thin posters go off on one of their tirades, it makes me want to lose more weight.

not gonna bother with the ned comments.

i will say it’s not fair to women that both our mags and men’s mags often have near-naked females on the cover.

Seeing as the overwhelming majority of the female population seems to be attracted to MALES, where is the for-straight-women eye candy???

plenty of drooling material for the guys. it’s just not fair.

    more half-naked Johnny Depp!

As the highest paid ‘supermodel’, why is little known of Gisele in the UK other than her aledged cosmetic surgery and her relationship with a Hollywood actor? Whilst she indeed does have an exceptional figure for showcasing designer fashion she is certainly not beautiful. Her unique selling point is probably the fact that she is more ‘agricultural’ looking. Plus if you add enough media hype to the mix and suddenly we’re all lead to believe that this is the most beautiful person in the world? I would have to disagree.

…sorry for the typo on ‘alleged’!

BTW I saw this imported edition of VF at my local Borders store, so I was most interested to find this discussion thread.

You know what Ned, some women are jealous witches that need their insecurities reeled in. I also know loads of men that think there it in the corporate world and try n tear down up and coming women. So Ned, it may be beauty with women but its definitely about jobs with men. On the contrary I think that Gisele is beautiful but she whether knowingly or not stepped into a cat fight! America was only judging Tom, this good ole CATHOLIC, MORAL boy who left this girl pregnant. When he added her to the mix she was bound to get hit with what we were throwing at him plain and simple. And I’m not jealous but being a female my heart hurts knowing that they won’t be 2 gethr but Bridget has it alittle better as Tom is a good father, says a lot for him!

tom married his dream girl, the love of his life, the woman he lives for!!!!!! end of story. who cares what you think? bridget got pregnant on purpose, she betrayed tom and if he would have known she went off the pill, i’m 200% sure he would have worn a condom. it doesn’t matter who you all think is better looking or or how he should have worked things out with bridget (that’s why she got pregnant). this is toms’ decision and as an american, he has the right to choose.
