Last year at the SAG Awards, Nicole Kidman rolled up with some parrots. What is it about the SAGs that makes women want to dress like birds? I don’t know. But I do know that Mary J. Blige wore the best bird-themed gown in SAG history! Mary’s awards-season style has been so hit-or-miss for me, but it’s clear that she’s working with somebody and that they’re having fun. This Jean Louis Sabaj dress is weird and fun and special, and she looks amazing in it.
Halle Berry rolled up, vampire styles, in this Pamella Roland gown. This is the kind of gown Halle used to wear all the time – very pretty, but not very notable or particularly fashion-forward.
Sally Hawkins in Dior. IS THIS A JUMPSUIT? If this is a jumpsuit, I think I actually like this a lot. If it’s a dress made to look like a jumpsuit, then I’m not into it.
Elisabeth Moss in Adam Selman. The top part of this – the halter – absolutely works for her and she should definitely try more halter-styles. But the bottom half is a mess. So unflattering.
Susan Sarandon wore Alberta Ferretti. And she’s an a–hole.

It’s striking and flatters her figure. Not that it would take much to flatter her amazing figure. Don’t love the hair, though. I think it takes away from the otherwise dramatic look.

Halle looks great. Mary is great except for the hair. The rest major fail. What is that striped mess that Hawkins is wearing. I see she wants to be noticed for what she is wearing and not her performance.

I LOVE Sally’s outfit, but I wish it had been properly hemmed. Dior did such a great job tailoring those stripes to exactly square up that to have one side longer than the other is just bad.
I love this look from Sally. I wish the sleeves were a bit shorter, and the waist was up about two inches. Otherwise it’s fun and perfect! I hope she wears something crazy like this at the Oscar’s.
Mary J. Blige’s dress is gorgeous, but the hair…..And updo might have worked better or a different hair colour? The blonde is so harsh.
I am generally not a fan of people with naturally very dark hair dying it white-blonde. I think it looks really weird and not in a fashion-forward cool kind of way. I also hate Kim kardashian when she wears white-blonde hair.
I love Mary J’s. It has a cool graphic quality that makes it mod to me and her hair and makeup and styling are lovely.
I couldn’t even focus on Susan’s fashion choices last night because she just pisses me off.

Not a fan of Halle’s look. My daughter did a project where you took glitter and vegetable oil and put it in a jar. You flip it upside down – Halle’s dress is what happens. Her hair looks like she just woke up and was going to the gym. Surprised that this is what she went with.

I usually hate bird dresses but Mary’s is all kinds of wow. I don’t get why anyone would like Sally’s ridiculous getup. It looks like one of those optical illusion puzzles where you stare at it until you see the lines move.

I love Sally Hawkins to pieces but this outfit literally hurts my eyes! Mary K looks better than she ever has in anything else I’ve seen her wear. Really, ever.
Mary Blige’s dress is FABULOUS, although I’ll quibble and say I’d adore it EVEN MORE if she removed the sleeve entirely. The sleeve makes this goddess-like creation veer slightly into ice skater queen territory. But still, utterly fun, gorgeous, and satisfying to see stars glam up!! SS doesn’t get a single word in my book; I’m with you, Kaiser.
Sally Hawkins‘ ensemble is kind of great but TBH I have to look away. It’s like the Eye of Sauron in the middle. It makes me woozy.
