Sacha Baron Cohen’s Bruno is a well-endowed bull

Sacha Baron has been promoting his new film Bruno all over Europe. He stays “in character” for all of the press, including magazine covers, interviews and red carpet premieres. His GQ interview was hilarious - my favorite was when he talked about waxing “mein arschenhaller.” He also did a photo spread that was… well, let’s just call it “fashion forward”.

My favorite appearance thus far has been Sacha/Bruno at the Madrid premiere. Bruno dressed up in some kind of couture bull costume, but this was unlike any bull costume I’ve ever seen. The “bull” has defined pecs and abdominal muscles, and the bull’s nipples are… prominent. And of course, the “bull” is anatomically correct, complete with a wang and balls. Perhaps the cherry on top for me is the way the bull costume’s “hooves” are basically platform heels. Eat your heart out, Zac Efron.

According to HuffPo, Bruno arrived at the Madrid premiere “in a horse-drawn carriage escorted by muscular matadors just as the sun set on the historic bullring Las Ventas.” He claimed that he wanted to “redress the wrong done to the gay community by that Hollywood movie on Harvey Milk which was acted by Sean Penn, who’s not even gay.”

For added measure, while Bruno was in London, he called the Geldolf girls “D-Listers” and he made a crack about Madonna, who he mocks in the film by having Bruno adopt his own African baby. This time, Bruno called Madonna “a total slut” and said, “Her gynaecologist will only inspect her over the phone these days.” He also added that “I want to be the biggest Austrian superstar since Hitler.”

  3. I LOVED his interview in spanish T.V.! You guys miss out on the funny things stars say and do on “El Hormiguero” ! The people in the show are crazy enough, but when they bring international celebs they go all out!
Let me give you an example…

  5. This guy must be a trip in person. I can’t imagine what a roller coaster it must be to be married to him… I’m sure it’s pretty funny on most days but may wear thin after a while.

  7. It depends on each person´s sense of humour…I find him hilarious because he disrespetcs the system, and the system tend to suck mostly. His character Ali G, which was on british TV years ago, before the film came out, and interviewed british stuffy politicians and made them feel REALLY uncomfortable, they would squirm because this guy didn´t feel any shame asking them questions maybe we all want to ask a politician. That was great viewing for me…! Do you have the expression “tongue in cheek ” in the U.S.?? That´s what his humour is. If you don´t get it, you won´t like him, and that´s fine…

This photo is my new screensaver. I always find it amusing when people bash him for being “stupid” but SBC is a highly intelligent man. His sort of humor isn’t for the frat-crowd.

  9. LMAO, that bull costume LOL can’t wait to see this.

RAN - very low-key and reserved off-screen, no Borat or Bruno in real life. Keeps it very low profile, no interviews as himself to keep the subversion as effective as it is. Good interview here, one of the very few with him as himself.

  10. For me - he ruins the characters by staying in character all the time. It’s like ENOUGH ALREADY - I loved his little skits when he was on TV - but to turn them into FOREVER and ever - every single second of every single day - overkill. No longer funny. He ruined Borat and he’s ruining this character as well for me.

Can you imagine if Tina Fey stayed in the Sarah Palin character all the time - it would no longer be funny or fresh.

Give it a rest SBC! And the costumes for each appearance - really even more stupid.

  17. He really knows how to drag his act(s) through the dirt, so that just in case he might’ve been considered entertaining initially, he makes himself insufferably predictable and unfunny.

  18. I always confuse him with the guy that played Stuart on Mad TV. Personally, I prefer the guy on Mad.

He hasn’t been funny for a very long time.

I’m completely and utterly exhausted from the never ending publicity for this film already and it’s not even out here yet.

  21. I don’t know what it is, but his humor really doesn’t appeal to me, and I’ve never once thought he was funny. I totally agree with the posts here that claim overkill. I feel like he won’t LET you like his characters; he’s way too eager to shove them down your throat. And I sense an arrogance on the part of the person behind the characters that completely wrecks it for me, too. Whenever I see him dressed up, I just feel confused and put off.

  22. I love him. Some people just can’t take jokes very well. He is only trying to be funny and not offensive. I’m rooting for you Bruno. LOL
