Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry skipped the ceremony on Sunday night, but made an appearance at the Vanity Fair after party. She opted for a colorful, beaded, Aztec patterned micro-mini dress by Zuhair Murad. I’m not nuts about the print, but she works her butt off to keep fit. She’s got it, so go on and flaunt it. If I had a physique like hers, I’d wear mini-dresses all of the time, although I might get some funny looks at the grocery store. Halle accessorized with jewels by Mattia Cielo and Roberto Coin and velvet heels by Loriblu. Halle is rocking the long, straight hair that many actresses in her demo seem to be favoring now (e.g. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman). Being close to her age, I’m all for their look, and I love the natural eye and lip shades she’s using here. She looks really put together and apparently has gotten over that “baggy phase” she was going through last year. I approve.
Rita Ora was also wearing Zuhair Murad at the VF party. The red, semi-sheer gown featured beaded accents and feathers and left little to the imagination, hugging every curve. The deep neckline/racy thigh slit combo was daring. Rita also wore a gold buckled belt, Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and red satin heels by Olgana Paris shoes. As much as I like the color on Rita, I just think the overall look is a little too much. As for hair and makeup, I think she made the right choice by putting her hair up (and I do like her face-framing ringlets) and I love her sparkly eyes and nude lip.
I will never not love Angela Bassett, but I’m not feeling her multi-colored pantsuit from designer Teresa Helbig. Don’t get me wrong, I think the cut is so flattering, but the harlequin pattern leaves me cold. I would have loved to have seen this ageless beauty in a more elegant ensemble, like a gown, because she is a queen and will always be to me. Take, for example, the vintage sequined Diane von Fürstenberg dress she wore at Saturday night’s Maison de Mode’s Sustainable Style soirée. That’s more like it, in my opinion. I do love her hair, it’s what I would imagine her Black Panther character rocking for a night on the town. Regardless of what I think of this outfit, Angela pulls it off. Hell, she would pull off a potato sack.
Nikki Reed, who attended Elton John’s post-Oscars bash with Lea Michele, was in a silk, tropical print off-the-shoulder gown by Saloni. It’s nothing special, but it’s nice. She accessorized with diamond earrings, silver heels and a black clutch. Her hair was tastefully pulled back to showcase her face, which was just lovely, again following what appears to be a trend of nude lipstick. I dig that. I think I would have liked this dress better if it were a solid color. The cut is perfect, it doesn’t show too much, but manages to be supremely flattering and really sexy – of course, this is coming from a woman who hasn’t worn a gown since 2005, so what do I know?

God, I’m envious of a woman 20 years my senior! We are living some good times :p
I’m 55 and for most women 50 and over, I would say no on that dress. However, Halle is so gorgeous and so fit, my only thought is, “You go girl!”
It’s crazy how over-worked and try-hard Rita Ora looks sandwiched between these effortlessly amazing women more than twice her age.

Halle looked so amazing back in the day, with her original short haircut! I generally prefer long hair (on people of both sexes), but the short tousled pixie was 100% perfect for Halle’s face. Maybe she’ll go back to it one day.

Agreed. I love her dress, she rocks it. She has an amazing body that she works hard for, so why not wear that dress??/ I’m 56 and if I would get off my lazy butt and get back in shape, I would wear that dress!!
But her hair??!!??? I like that women my age are wearing longer hair, but generally our hair weakens and splits, so it is hard to grow longer as we approach and after menopause. So if you are going to wear your hair long, it should be thick, at least, and not stringy. Her hair is dangerously close to stringy. Ruins the look, in my view. Do better with the hair, middle aged women!!!

Halle looks great and I love that dress. I would question however, how she managed to sit down in it and not flaunt her lady-bits. That slit on the shorter side at the front seems to go rather high.
All I can say about Halle’s look is HOW?! She looks late 20’s for God’s sake.

m in the minority but I really like Angela Bassett’s pant suit! Different and fun. Nikki Reed’s dress is horrible. I do like Rita Oro’s dress too, although it is a bit OTT.
