Connie Britton doesn’t worry about aging: ‘It doesn’t make a lot of sense’

Connie Britton is a beautiful goddess and a great actress. She used her red carpet appearance at the Golden Globes to promote the One Campaign, an organization dedicated to fighting extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa (and wore black in support of Time’s Up) and she’s been vocal about LGBTQA+ rights. She’s a single mom to a son, 7-year-old Zoby, whom she adapted from Ethiopia. She’s also spoken up in the past about the stigma of women over 40 being regarded as not being sexy. She’s kind of my hero.

The only negative thing I can say is that her departure from Nashville has kind of ruined the show. I’m hanging on until the bitter end because of my love for Charles Esten (Deacon) and Chris Carmack (Will), but it’s been painful since the demise of Rayna James.

Connie not only has a beautiful soul, she is a gorgeous woman. At 51 she has certainly mastered the art of aging gracefully. The actress, currently starring alongside another goddess, Angela Bassett, on Ryan Murphy’s 9-1-1, was interviewed by InTouch magazine and shared her philosophy on getting older. They are words to live by, so take notes.

She’s not a fan of stress: “I actually try to live a life with as little stress as possible, which is not easy to do, and I feel like I don’t do very well.”

She sure doesn’t stress about aging: “Yeah, not even. It kind of doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.”

“Every once in a while I’m like, ‘Oh God! This is what they talk about!’ But I try not to let my head go in that direction.”

She focuses on embracing life, not worrying about numbers: “I feel a lot of gratitude for the life that I have been given, and I never take that for granted. I feel that every day, and I think that helps a lot.”

As someone who is terrifyingly close to reaching the mid-century mark, I hope I can incorporate Connie’s positivity into my future outlook. Oh, and for those of you who are sticking it out with Nashville, the remainder of the show’s final season debuts on CMT on June 7. There’s lots of drama ahead, but I still miss Rayna.

#wcw because…Michelle! (Even Yoby feels a sense of calm)

    Love her.
I am 59 and she inspired me to keep my hair long. So many women hit fifty and they get what my daughter calls Granny Bobs. I am not judging those who like short cuts but I want to feel pretty and having some hair to style makes me feel knda happy. LOL Plus my makeup too.

  2. tracking says:

I was happy to see her beautiful un-botoxed face on 9-1-1 (with her fellow goddess Angela Bassett), but man that show is terrible.

    • Deedee says:

Yes, but I still watch. She finally got together with that young first responder.

      • tracking says:

Yes, he is quite adorable. But she would be a better match for the Peter Krause character.

      • Peaches says:

So I’m not the only one who thinks that show Is a wreck but can’t stop watching?

  3. Esmom says:

Beautiful at 51, she looks a good 10 years younger and so much better than so many younger Hollywood players who plump and fill and go under the knife. This is what aging gracefully looks like.

  4. Holly hobby says:

She looks good and it’s great to see a natural face. I wish most of Hollywood would leave their faces alone.

  5. Patricia says:

I absolutely don’t see the point of worrying about aging. I mean yes take good care of yourself but time passes and we age and there’s nothing you can do but embrace it. Embrace it!
I’m irish and Scottish heritage and my skin was a dream when I was 18, but this delicate skin ages young. I have to embrace all the laugh lines I already have at 34. The only hard thing for me is that my husband is Hispanic and he still looks like a 20 year old if he shaves his beard. Not a wrinkle, not a grey hair. Different skin heritages age differently and we are the poster couple for it, I just have to laugh thinking how we will look in another 20 years (his parents and grandparents are further evidence that his genes are blessed, his 92 year old grandmother could literally pass for late 50s, it’s insane).

Connie has that fair, delicate skin too so it’s awesome she has this great attitude

  6. Betsy says:

My aunt looks a bit like Britton around the mouth so she’s always reminded me of her.

  7. JA says:

Beautiful hair and face! Didn’t realize she’s in her 50s hoping I age like fine wine. I’m 34 & could pass for mid 20s but that can change real fast. Water, moisturizer and sunscreen is what I will adhere to EVERYDAY

I’m 33 and started taking good care of my skin around 24. At my 33rd birthday party in December I was talking to some female friends in their mid 20’s. One of them said “jeez Nicole, I hope I look as good as you at your age!” I kind of wanted to strangle them (because, come on, I’m 33, not 53. I’d hope I don’t look too old yet) but I told them to start a good skin care regimen now if they want to be pretty much wrinkle-free at ‘my age’. I also eat a lot of fruits and veggies, drink a lot of water, and try for 6-8 hours of sleep every night. It really does help.

  8. Renee says:

She is gorgeous! Her hair is incredible.
I’m sticking it out with Nashville too. It’s a hate watch thing now but I’m determined to see it to the end. Yes, since Rayna left the show has steadily declined.

  9. lucy2 says:

I bailed on Nashville after she left, and I don’t blame her for leaving. Based on what she said in a few interviews, I think she had hoped it’d be a drama, and it ended up being more like a soap.

There are a lot of people who aren’t lucky enough to make it to 50, so I say embrace it and enjoy it.

  10. jana says:

So happy she’s aging gracefully, unlike so many of her peers. but at 55 I can tell you one thing, the 50’s aren’t for pussies!
