Mel B: The Spice Girls tour is confirmed, all five of us are signed

In the latest episode of “As the Spice Grinds,” the most outspoken member of the Spice Girls, Melanie Brown (a/a/a Scary Spice), is once again getting the fans’ hopes up with talk of a reunion. As she’s the only member of the quintet saying this, this fan’s hopes aren’t budging…yet.

The last time we checked in, Mel B. hinted that all five members of the group were invited to the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (a claim later shot down by Melanie Chisholm). That same week, on RuPaul’s What’s the Tee podcast, Emma Bunton dismissed talk of a reunion, saying the spices were “doing their own thing now.” Talk of a reunion has been going on (and not going on) for a while, with Victoria Beckham consistently the holdout, not mincing words by telling Vogue UK just last month, “I’m not going on tour. The girls aren’t going on tour.”

Fast forward to Monday, and the America’s Got Talent kick off event for its 13th season in Pasadena. Mel B. used the red carpet to address the subject of the tour, and, as far as she is concerned, it’s on.

Taking about the friendship that seemingly never ends, Mel told reporters that the spices “are friends at the end of the day. We have tea and hangout and we talk about stuff. We are all parents now and for us five to be able to say that we can sell out arenas and concerts, that is a good feeling.” She went on to add that, “My 19-year-old calls me vintage and I don’t know if that is cool or not but I will take it as cool.” And, if she had any doubt about a reunion, she wasn’t sharing any details, asserting that it is happening, stating, “it is already confirmed, we are all signed to Simon Fuller. All five of us.”

As for performing at the royal wedding in May, Mel kept a bit more tight-lipped, stating, “I can’t really say anything about that because I will get into trouble.” Sigh. I just don’t know what to believe anymore. Side note, Mel brought her daughter, 19-year-old Phoenix Chi Gulzar to the event, joking on an Instagram post that it was “take your daughter to work day” on AGT.

I really think Mel B. is the “Spice who cried wolf.” Could she be pushing for a reunion because she didn’t get a raise on America’s Got Talent? At least, for her sake, she didn’t get replaced by Queen Latifah. I refuse to get excited about reunion this until I have tickets in my hand. Until that time, I have one humble request for Miss Mel B… stop right now. Thank you very much.

Yea I think Mel B is overegging the pudding a little, there is no way Beckham is going on a all singing all dancing tour with the Spice Girls.

There may be a ‘reunion’ in a different context – maybe they appear on a tv show or start selling SG branded socks, I don’t know. But there is 0 chance Vickie is getting on stage for a concert tour.

Yeah i agree, there is no way Beckham is going on tour – she may agree to a one off performance but that’s about it. She’s built up quite a successful brand for herself she isn’t going to damage that by going backwards to the Spice Girls days – this is Mel B pulling an SJP type stunt. She’s pulled stuff like this before around reunions and are usually when she needs a job and/or media attention (she recently lost her US X Factor gig).

Yerp. Beckham functions in a different stratosphere to the other ladies – profitability of her brand or not. I mean, Geri was hosting part of Crufts last weekend (which, I mean, any opportunity to hang out with dogs, but it’s not NYFW). Mel B, as you say, just lost a gig. I can’t think of what the other two are doing.

Anyway my point is, I feel sympathetic towards her because she’s had a rought ride of late, but Mel B needs to relax with the thirst before the other’s cut her off. Her little ‘spills’ are getting to be embarrassing. First hinting at a performance at H&M’s wedding, now this.

Until we hear it from it from Victoria Beckham, this isn’t happening. Scary needs to stop

I feel like there isn’t a tour. Mel B. is talking to much, as if she’s trying to get buzz.

  4. Enough Already says:

Posh is determined to get her Dame on. No way she jeopardizes that.

  5. littlemissnaughty says:

Please. There is no reason for Beckham to go on a damn tour.

Emma Bunton’s interview with RuPaul on the What’s the Tee podcast was great. It really sounds like all five of these girls were friends during the height of the Spice craze and have remained friends afterwards. Things may not have been perfect every step of the way, but Emma made it sound like all five of the girls have genuine friendship and respect for one another, which I think is great and inspiring in a world where the media wants to pit women (and girl groups) against one another at every opportunity.

Why does Mel B look like a Mel B impersonater? Bad plastic surgery!!!!
