Kendall Jenner: ‘I don’t think I have a bisexual or gay bone in my body’

2017 American Music (AMA) Awards

Who is giving better FACE on the cover of Vogue, the parrot or Kendall Jenner? It’s a trick question, because the answer is always going to be “not Kendall.” That being said, the parrot is a star!! I wish the cover story was about the parrot and how he navigates fame. Give the parrot a reality show and a Louis Vuitton contract, please. Anyway, yes, Kendall covers the April issue of Vogue. You can see the full cover package here – the editorial is by Mert & Marcus and honestly… it’s not a bad shoot at all. Kendall is dead-eyed throughout, but the photos are nice. Some highlights from the cover story:

She’s dating Blake Griffin: She refuses to confirm this fact, but one of the reasons we can be fairly certain is that the day after Valentine’s Day she calls me from Michigan, and when I ask why she’s there she says coyly, “I’m visiting a friend.” When I ask point-blank if she has a boyfriend, she says, “I like my private life.” Pause. “Yeah . . . no. I’m happy. He’s very nice. I have someone being very nice to me.”

Why does the internet think she’s gay? “I think it’s because I’m not like all my other sisters, who are like, ‘Here’s me and my boyfriend!’ So it was a thing for a minute because no one ever saw me with a guy. I would always go that extra mile to be low-key with guys, sneaking around all the time. You don’t want to, like, look crazy… I don’t think I have a bisexual or gay bone in my body, but I don’t know! Who knows?! I’m all down for experience—not against it whatsoever—but I’ve never been there before. Also, I know I have kind of a . . . male energy? But I don’t want to say that wrong, because I’m not transgender or anything. But I have a tough energy. I move differently. But to answer your question: I’m not gay. I have literally nothing to hide. I would never hide something like that.”

People hating on her family: “It’s almost, like, trendy to hate on my family. It’s not so much that people actually believe that we suck, but it became a thing: If you hate on us, it’s cool or something.”

Kylie’s baby: “It’s not that it’s more exciting than any other births in the family—it’s different exciting, because she’s my baby sister who I grew up with. We all grew up in twos: Kourtney and Kim grew up together; Rob and Khloé; Brandon and Brody; Burton and Casey, and then Kylie and I. So to see my best friend growing up have a baby? It’s already made us even closer.”

Whether she wants kids: “I am ready to wait. I want to have kids, but at, like, 28 or 29.”

Fake friends: “I have friends who have gotten sucked up in something that is so not real, and that is what I never want to do. My whole goal in life is to stay as humble and grounded as I can be, doing things that I love.”

The political landscape in Trump’s America: “It’s very unmotivating. There are things happening that are just so . . . horrible . . . that it makes you not want to participate in anything. I’ve had days lately where I just want to sit in my bed and do nothing. It makes you scared to go out. It’s a complete nightmare. And I wish I had the power to fix it all.”

The Pepsi controversy: “Obviously, my intention was not to hurt anyone. Honestly, I just hid out. It hurt me that I hurt other people. I’ve been yelled at before, stepped in controversy before, but nothing to that extent. You can never really prepare for something like that.” I ask her if—as someone with so many close black friends and family members—anyone talked to her about it. “No,” she says. “Nobody came to me to explain it to where I was like, Oh, I get it. But I’m not an idiot. I can see it for myself.”

[From Vogue]

I’ve read a surprising number of Kendall’s interviews and honestly… this was probably her best one ever? That’s setting the bar pretty low, true, but I like how she just answered the questions and got on with it. She sounds vapid at times – there’s a cringeworthy section about her charity work – but I also felt like she described some other things with surprising clarity and self-awareness. “Unmotivating” is a good word to describe life under Trump – everything is so horrible and some people do just want to retreat. As for the section about her sexuality and why she thinks people think she’s gay… I understood her perfectly, and I kind of believe her: if she was gay, she would have told us by now. She’s just a tomboy with a masculine energy who happens to date men and identify as heterosexual. It’s a thing!

My pink bathroom rug that disintegrated in the washing machine a few months ago has made it into Vogue! Sadly, it is draped on Kendall Jenner.

    • Snazzy says:

lololol I can’t unsee that now

    • Grant says:

      CACKLING! That was hilarious.

    • Minx says:

Im going with science on this one…In most Lesbians women – the right-hand ring finger is often longer than index fingers and therefore more masculine, suggesting higher androgen levels. Also, the likelihood of being gay increases by about 33 percent with each additional older brother/sister. Using that information.. and looking at her right hand..science says otherwise.

      • Kit says:

According to Minx Science, I am 200% lesbian. I never imagined this would be the way I found out.

  2. Mrs. G says:

She’s so boring to me ..

  3. TheBees says:

I don’t recall seeing any bones like that in anatomy and physiology class.

I can’t decide if it is more depressing to believe that this is true or total BS. (PS You ARE an idiot and you should have seen it for yourself before you agreed to do it).

    • magnoliarose says:

I read that part too and rolled my eyes. I don’t believe a word out of her mouth.

  5. Shappalled says:

‘People hating on her family: “It’s almost, like, trendy to hate on my family. It’s not so much that people actually believe that we suck, but it became a thing: If you hate on us, it’s cool or something.’

    I believe that you suck.

    • gatorbait says:

That part pissed me off. I hate her family because they suck. It is not trendy to hate them. If I say it in public I get dirty looks. So she’s very wrong.

    • me says:

She’s in denial as is the rest of that family. People do really hate them.

    • No Doubtful says:

No, we really don’t like your family Kendall!

  6. Lexter says:

    Isn’t that a cockatoo?
    I may be wrong….

    • Shappalled says:

      Yes it is.

    • Elizabeth says:

It most definitely looks like a cockatoo to me.

    • Kit says:

      A cockatoo is a parrot

    • AnnaKist says:

It is a sulphur-crested cockatoo, and a parrot. When one of my best friends went to live back in New Zealand, we adopted hers. He was so funny, imitating us and dancing and singing. Someone let him out of his huge enclosure one Christmas Day while we were at dinner with family. Our dog also went missing that day. We did see Charles again , though. He’d joined the gang of cockatoos who would come every morning and evening to feast on the berries of our pepper tree and to strip next-door’s wattles. They are amazing birds. Kendall is not an amazing bird.

Oh, and we hate your family because they are odious, not because it’s trendy. Sorry, but you are an idiot if you hadn’t figured that out for yourself, instead of parroting (!) your family’s comeback. 🙄

    • magnoliarose says:

Yes. I have one, and he is the funniest thing and has so much personality. I love him dearly. He is very interactive, and when he is mad, he fluffs up and huffs around. He cuddles, and he loves sitting with our dog and cat. The kitten is a little afraid of him that is fascinated.
He answers when I talk to him, or anyone does. He loves rubs and affection and music makes him dance.
I never thought I could bond with a bird like this, but I have. We all have.

  7. Reef says:

The most interesting thing about her is that Blake Griffin’s baby mama is suing him for palimony and using Kendall as cause for the destruction of their relationship but mags aren’t commenting on it. I thought it was because she was gay so everyone was like “lol, no” but if she’s not then why isn’t there more buzz about it since she’s a “Kardashian”.

  8. Krill says:

Why would anyone think she was closetted? Her father transitioned into a woman very publicly. Her sister got famous off a sex tape. Her whole family is in interracial relationships which are still frowned upon in many parts. She is the “right type” of lesbian aka the type men can fantasize about, so it wouldnt hurt her career. Her following is mostly female anyway so its not like she would be alienating a large swath. There would literally be no reason to closet.

    • RBC says:

I think it all comes to timing with this family. Kanye’s breakdown, and her sisters all becoming mothers recently, probably delayed Kendall publicly coming out. Kris Jenner aka “PMK” is all about attention for the family. She would want to make sure that Kendall’s coming out is the main story in the media. Each child has to have their time in the spotlight, then when attention wanes on to a different child.

    • Ybd says:

All of these women’s life mission is to get male approval in everything they do. Not being into men would be off-brand for her.

      • Jazmin says:

Sorry, but I think you’re wrong on this one. These narcissistic women’s mission is not about men at all. All they care about is publicity and money–hence, keep the show going– no matter the cost. Men are just accessories later discarded like collateral damage.

    • Enough Already says:

      Or maybe she’s not gay.

    • magnoliarose says:

That’s pretty much the consensus. They need to drum up some plots because no one cares much about the baby angle. Even naming a baby Stormy.
      45 sucks up the oxygen.
No one cares about Caitlin anymore or Black Chyna. Interest is waning. It always does.

  9. RBC says:

My eyes noticed the bird first and then Kendall. She really does blend into the background

  10. minx says:

    Sure, Jan.

  11. Ally says:

If she’s on the cover of a mag, I don’t buy it. Vacuous inside and out.

  12. Daisy says:

Uhh… I really don’t think she would’ve told us by now if she was gay. Speaking from personal experience, it really is not that easy. If it was hard (and still is) for me, a regular not famous at all person, I can’t even imagine how it must feel when the whole world is watching and judging you.
Also I’m not saying she’s lying because I don’t know and frankly I barely pay attention to her. I’m just saying I understand why she would lie if it were the case.

  13. Lucy says:

I mean, “I have literally nothing to hide” sounds hilarious to me, but at this point we all know that’s how she talks. As for her sexuality, sure. I get what she’s saying.

  14. sunnydeereynolds says:

Vogue had this weird and super boring video of her eating Cheerios.

I usually find Kendall cute but that cover photo is boring and nothing special. I wonder how she keeps getting Vogue covers when she’s not getting that much runway jobs anymore.

  15. Betsy says:

Kendall, you seem like a nice enough kid and I’m not asking you to speak or think ill of your family, but they seem kind of conniving and grasping. That’s kind of sucky.

Also, maybe you could learn to code like that one model?

  16. Harryg says:

It irritates me enormously one of these people had to be blessed with a model body. They couldn’t all be short and stumpy, no – one of them just had to be skinny with long legs and now she’s everywhere. Super irritating.

    • me says:

They are ALL everywhere, with the exception of Rob. Imagine if Kris Jenner only had sons. We’d never hear from this family.

    • ccc8888 says:

She has Caitlyn’s body. Too bad she never did much athletically, other than riding. Would be interesting to see how much of Caitlyn’s talent could be passed on.

    • Ain’tNoTelling says:

Kendall isn’t the only tall, skinny one. Kylie is also naturally athletically built, tall, thin, with a body just like Kendall. Kylie had breast implants and fat transferred and injected into her butt cheeks.

The 2 Jenner girls take after their dad, as does Khloe, whose dad is that very tall hair stylist gentleman who she looks exactly like.

The two girls gathered by Robert Kardashian are short, but Kourtney is not stumpy, and Kim only looks stumpy because of the enormous amount of fat transferred into her butt cheeks and her breast implants. Kim had a body more like Kourtney or a young Kris before she made a decision to purposefully deform it for attention and ratings.

And Kendall has been in a long term relationship with another woman for years. They live together in NYC. She travels everywhere with Kendall as her assistant/friend. She’s shorter than Kendall, and she very pretty, imo. Long dark hair, no makeup, and is usually wearing jeans or gym attire. I always forget her name. Sorry.

  17. me says:

I’m just wondering, how can you tell the Parrot is male?

  18. Littlestar says:

Definitely the parrot is the star.

  19. xdanix says:

Oh my god, I’m sorry, this is so mean of me, but all I can think, staring at that cover is “What has she done to her FACE?!”

I’m NOT against plastic surgery, by the way, and would never shame anyone for making that choice. It’s just sad to me- she was so very pretty naturally, and now her face looks almost nothing like it used to. The lips don’t work on her, but it’s a lot more than that- her whole face and face shape looks different. I used to envy her bone structure and face so much- and now it’s just not there anymore. (I mean, I hope some of it is still there somewhere, in case she realises one day how lucky she got naturally- but I don’t know enough about plastic surgery to know how much is reversible/ how much eventually reverts to something like normal if you don’t keep having work done.)

    • Nick2 says:

Honestly, she doesn’t look like she’s had any work done.

    • magnoliarose says:

She has had a load of plastic surgery only it wasn’t as obvious until lately. They all do it to look more like a Kar and less Jen. So they match.

  20. HeyThere! says:

I know the odd person out but I don’t hate the kardashians. There are people worthy of my ‘hate’ but they aren’t to me. I don’t think it’s tendy to hate them. You either love or hate them from day one. Not a lot inbetween. Other than some random lip injections, she looks exactly like she did as a small child. She had no choice but to be famous or grow up in the spotlight. It’s legit all she knows. I’m really glad my parents didn’t make that choice for me. I do not want to be famous but I’ll take a few of the designer duds and cars if someone handed them over. Ha!

  21. Jazmin says:

It’s ironically funny that she hates the current president, and praises the last one. Obama openly hated their show and openly declared disdain toward the whole family. She’s so ignorant and clueless. And yes, the whole family is deplorable as Hillary would say… HaHaHaHaHa!

  22. Shijel says:

So that’s why she’s been caught sucking other women’s faces. Because she doesn’t have a gay or a bisexual bone in her body.

Ah, ’tis good to be have been at school with and friends with a runway model currently enjoying work all over the world.

    • Enough Already says:

      Spilled tea?

      • magnoliarose says:

It is a known thing in the fashion world about her and a high number of Swifty’s Squad. Many of their quarrels and falling outs were over real relationships and not friendships. They have PR relationships that are meant to lift their profiles. Harry Styles used to be the go-to, but he’s growing up and owning his sexuality. Some of the guys are bi or gay. Most of them in fact but they appeal to young girl’s fantasies, so they create another one as far as romances.
There have always been gay models. Plenty of bi models both male and female. One of the huge ones from the 90s is but has a perfect front game going that stopped the talk in the mainstream.
I wish this was not needed because it helps young LGBTQ+ people feel normal to see all sorts of successful or admired or famous or merely a public figure accepted by society. We talk about their love lives the same and speculate who they see the same.
Cara D just isn’t the type to play the straight fake game and put an end to it. So you don’t see her with certain people anymore except Gigi lately.

  23. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

Whew. Glad it’s not just me. Every time I see a wreathe, I have to put my face through it.

  24. Naddie says:

Yeah Kendall, you’re different… *eye roll*

  25. Tessa Late says:

I wasn’t even aware that anyone was questioning her sexuality before I read this. She just seems so uninteresting and bland, I don’t really get why anyone cares about her dating life. Her relationships would probably be boring either way. But on the other hand, I guess it’s better to be boring than to be like the rest of her attention-seeking family. Ugh.

  26. Saks says:

The parrot is serving looks! Some answers were weird but she doesn’t bother me

  27. Egla says:

It’s weird though to be so beautiful and so bland at the same time. She doesn’t have sparkle in her. Don’t know how to define it. I have to see her in video just out of curiosity…
Nop. Nothing. She can’t work the eyes. If ahe could she would be amazing.

  28. Parigo says:

This family is so homophobe. Even if Kendull wasn’t gay, this would be the most interesting story about her ever and would get her so much attention. But momma k won’t allow. They will allow tons of super fake hetero relationships/stories but this one needs to be shot down so firmly? Pfff….

  29. Ain’tNoTelling says:

@magnoliarose: I totally agree with you. It’s a shame that Kendall is outright lying. I do not think this would affect her career negatively, but let’s consider who she learned this behavior from. Bruce Jenner. No doubt Kris Kardashian agrees.

Also, I don’t think Cindy Crawford has managed to fool anyone other than herself. I assume you’re referring to her, because it is pretty well known that Cindy is gay.
