‘Avengers: Infinity War’ full-length trailer is here, and your faves *might* die?

2018 FX Annual All Star Party

Do I really have to write a bunch of stuff here? Marvel just released the full-length trailer for Avengers: Infinity War and wow, here’s a bunch of big-name star power IN CAPES, all working together to defeat a guy whose head looks like a penis. I’m absolutely positive that this film will make 20 gajillion dollars. Here’s the trailer.

The drama seems to be that some of the Avengers might actually die? Almost by magic, I can tell you that the superheroes who will die are probably played by actors whose contracts have run out on these films! Aren’t the Infinity War movies supposed to be Chris Hemsworth’s last as Thor? And Robert Downey Jr’s last movies as Ironman. It really looks like Thanos is going to straight up murder Tony Stark. All because of magical jewels/stones. I jest! Seriously, peeps: ENJOY!

I am SO ready for this, it’s not even funny.

  2. Maya says:

I am in – I hope half the team dies. My money is in Ironman, Captain America, Thor, Paul Bethany’s character are going to die.

    • ElleC says:

YES. Superhero movies seriously lack stakes, so I say kill ’em all and let god (Thor?) sort ’em out.

    • Krill says:

Chris Evans will definitely die to make way for Bucky to become Cap. I dont know about the God of Thunder dying. More likely they will find a new planet for him and his refugees and just set it in a mystical plane. That would make Dr Stranges appearance in Ragnarok foreshadowing. Dont care for or about Iron Man but if anyone could wear the suit then Tony can die but Iron Man live on. They could use that as an opportunity to add on a central and powerful female super hero or atleast a non-white one. Lets see.

      • SM says:

Noooo. Not Thor, just because I want to see another vesion of a superhero movie by my love Taika Waititi. Or maybe he can make a spin off about Jeff Goldbloom as Grand Master and Darryl.

      • Beckymae says:

Yes, if you saw the Easter egg at the end of Black Panther, Bucky is bro and I am SO here for that!!

  3. Mia4s says:

It’s going to be a mess of a movie and the action looks generic (oh! Big scary CGI pixels!)but as long as there are those little character moments the public will lap it up.

The character deaths will be a *shrug* for me in this movie. They have time travel power (Doctor Strange) so they can just undo it all in the next movie. If deaths stick after that fourth movie? Then I’ll be impressed. Until then? Meh, whatever.

My guess? Captain America is toast.

    • JeanGray says:

Agree with the last part and I’m holding on to the hope you’re wrong on the first part of your statement lol. Dr Strange can go back in time and reboot the universe. Also along with Cap (Bucky is gonna take over for him) I’m gonna add Tony and Thor. RDJ’s contract has been up and he’s been negotiating on a film-by-film basis. (He’s also getting long in the tooth). I think I also remember Chris Hemsworth mentioning moving on.

      • Mia4s says:

I’m not so sure a ton of them die, seems risky. Then again Rogue One did it and was a billion dollar smash hit, so what do I know!

I think Captain America is toast, Evans’ contract is up and he’s just not a character they’ve set up to retire, ever. He has no life outside of his work. That attempt at a modern love interest was awful (whereas Pepper for Tony worked pretty well). Thor may just go back to space to find a home for his people or protect the cosmic whatever. I agree RDJ is “done” but I have a sneaky suspicion they will find a way for him to “retire” so they can tease a future cameo or two.

      • JeanGray says:

Part of me wouldn’t mind Bruce Banner dying either (even though I ADORE Mark Ruffalo) becuase he too, is getting too old and I’m selfishly hoping they introduce his cousin Jennifer AKA She-Hulk. She is bad ass and one of the strongest Superheros but unlike Hulk, still maintains her personality. And she’s smart!

      • North of Boston says:

Well, if Thanos gets all the Infinity Stones, that will include the Time Stone (Eye of Agamotto) so Doctor Strange will no longer be able to turn time back.

I am really looking forward to this, more than I thought I would.

  4. S says:

Chris Evans Capt America will almost certainly bite it in the already-filmed second movie (formerly part two), though it’s likely someone else still under Marvel contract will “pick up the shield” so the character can continue without the actor … [cough] Sebastian Stan [cough].

    • JeanGray says:

He’s contracted for 9 films so this is likely. I doubt Falcon will pick up the shield.

  5. Barry Iris says:

Ironman because Shuri will play that role.

Captain America because Bucky will take over.

    • Rain says:

Why not have two black whip-smart characters. Tony, Peter, Stephen have common traits. Why can’t we have both Riri and Shuri, two brilliant POCs. God knows Marvel needs more diversity. Even with the addition of T’Challa, the rest of the MCU remains a white fest.

ETA: In the latest comics, the Iron Man suit is piloted by Riri Williams who is another excellent character that goes by the monicker Iron Heart.

    • Thea says:

Bucky is not gonna take over, he might end up Black Panther’s side kick at best. They don’t need any characters from Phase 1.

  6. Foreigner says:

I don’t know what it is but I could never get into The Avengers although I usually like superhero movies.

  7. Patty says:

Wow. The cast of Black Panther is front and center. I think Chris Rodgers bites the dust, and then Bucky will become Cap. Which, yay. I think the Falcon will die too; they can’t have too much melanin front and center, lol.

I hope Tony Stark bites the dust as well, cause I’m over RDJ. He’s been phoning it in since the second Iron Man movie. I also think Widow and Vision will bite it and hopefully Elizabeth Olsen’s awful character; I can’t with her accent.

    • jetlagged says:

Olsen’s accent bugged me on first viewing, but I’ve grown used to it and I actually like the character. She might sacrifice herself to save Vision, or maybe they both kick the bucket. I think one or both will die for sure, although if I’m honest I’d prefer Doctor Strange be the one that goes. I hope Falcon lives on, I like the actor and the character. It’s nice to see a guy without superpowers fight the good fight. I agree Evans is out, but not sure how I feel about Bucky becoming Cap. I’d like to see Tony Stark live happily ever after with Pepper, but I think that is a super longshot.

    • Marr says:

As an eastern european, I can tell you that Olsen’s accent was spot on. After years of russian accents being masqueraded as eastern european accents, hers was a breath of fresh air for me.

      • jetlagged says:

That is great to know. I always wondered if Olsen’s accent was authentic. Movie-goers are probably so used to hearing actors butcher Russian and Eastern European accents we just assume that is how they are supposed to sound. Then on that rare occasion when an actor gets it right, we all think they’ve done a crap job with it.

      • Patty says:

Interesting. I have a few friends from Russia and studied Russian in college; they all hated it. Different strokes for different folks.

  8. koko says:

If big names are dying, I’m going to say it’s going to make 50 gajillion dollars.

  9. Morgan says:

Can’t wait! I know Hawkeye is in it but he hasn’t been in either trailer – what gives? Is Samuel L Jackson in it?

  10. Dids says:

You just ruined Thanos for me. All I thought about while watching the trailer was the shape of his head….

    • Jellybean says:

Renner is mainly in the next film, he might just have a cameo in this one. I suspect there will be a big fight between the powerful super heroes and a lot of deaths and the next film will be a fight back from those left behind. It makes sense to have Hawkeye fighting in the shadows rather than on a battle field. Opps! I replied to the wrong post.

  11. chlo says:

we just watched the latest Thor movie… for all the hate that Tom Hiddleston gets around here and other places … he is delightful as Loki. Just ignore me over here blaming Taylor Swift for that fiasco …. 🙂 This movie looks amaaaaaazing. I hope they renew Chris Hemsworth’s contract. I hated Captain America at first, but he’s come around to one of my favorites. I’ll be sad to see him go too. Does anyone else feel like the newer super heroes lack the charisma of the original ones?? Excluding Black Panther of course! I guess I’m thinking of Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, Ant Man. Like, they are all fine, but I can’t imagine getting excited over a movie of them without Thor/Cap/Black Widow. Iron Man too. He annoys the hell out of me but can’t imagine Avengers without him.

    • teacakes says:

I agree about Hiddleston as Loki, he was so good in that first Thor movie. And despite the offscreen stuff, he really is a good actor who doesn’t half-ass his popcorn movies or act like he doesn’t want to be there.

Agreed on Evans too, my first reaction to Captain America having a movie was *shrug* but then I actually saw the movie and now Cap and Black Widow are tied for the post of my favourite Avenger. I agree that it won’t be the same if they try to make a new lineup of Avengers centred on Vision, Dr Strange etc, not nearly as much fun.

    • JeanGray says:

I’ve always been “Team Loki” . I like Hiddles, but his stock did plunge for me when he hooked up with TS. Ugh. What were you thinking Tommy??

What? I love Ant-Man. His movie was great. It was intelligent and funny. And the little girl who played his daughter in the movie was a scene-stealer.

      • chlo says:

@teacakes yesssss he really is a good actor. I hope he gets work with a bigger profile. I hope Loki sticks around even if Thor is gone?! Omg, Heimdall too. I will watch an Asgard movie with just Loki and Heimdall.

@JeanGray I remember liking Ant-Man!! It was a good movie. I just haven’t spent years with him yet. 🙂

  12. Nicole says:

Most of the original heroes will die just based on the contract and the actual comic. I wonder how close to the source they will play these deaths too. Some are super gruesome.

    • Cali says:

Oh C’mon Nicole don’t leave it like this. Who and how do they bite the dust in the comics? It’s not a spoiler since they won’t follow the comics exactly 😉

  13. SKF says:

I’m going to assume that a lot of them die, we get the origin film for Capt. Marvel in between Avengers films, then she is woken up or reappears when things are dire in the second film and helps turn the balance.

  14. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

I hope Captain America falls. I can’t stand that character as it reminds me of Mary Poppins (practically perfect in every way). And Tony Stark can just stop as well. Mainly because of Pepper Potts (Gwenyth) and because I’m tired of his exhausting banter… that group’s endless attempts at wit is old and tiresome. I don’t think Robert Downey has actually tried after maybe the second installment.

  15. Lyla says:

I’ll miss cap the most when he most likely bites the dust. His movies were my favorites among the phase 1 heroes.

  16. Cranberry says:

I’m just here for Loki. Tom looks delicious in that photo. He always looks good in fitted leather. hehehe (see Hollow Crown for proof)
