Rachel Hunter was dumped by her fiance

Former model and star of the sizzling Fountains of Wayne video “Stacy’s Mom” Rachel Hunter, 40, was unceremoniously dumped by her 27-year-old fiance, hockey player Jarret Stoll, just two months before their wedding. According to The Sun, Hunter and Stoll were set to wed in a lavish, star-studded ceremony – but he called off the engagement and sent out an e-mail to guests, saying the wedding was off.

ROD STEWART’s ex-wife RACHEL HUNTER has been dumped by her toyboy sweetheart — less than two months before they were due to wed.
Ice hockey star JARRET STOLL stunned the former model by walking out without even saying the reason.

He told guests by email that the star-studded ceremony on August 14 was cancelled, but still gave no explanation.

Last night a source close to Rachel said: “She is absolutely devastated. Everything was in place for their wedding — she had the venue, the designer dress, the guest list.

“She has absolutely no idea why Jarret has done this. It sounds like it could be a classic case of cold feet. He is a fair bit younger than her.”

The Los Angeles Kings player turns 27 today while Kiwi Rachel will be 40 in September.

Rachel, who has two children with Rod, also wanted to start a new family.

Her daughter Renee, 17, and son Liam, 14, are said to be “in pieces” at the break-up — especially Liam who is a keen ice hockey player.

Canadian Jarret proposed last August.

He and Rachel bought a £2.2million home in Hermosa Beach, California, and were due to tie the knot in front of guests including MICHELLE PFEIFFER and SHARON STONE.

Rachel married singer Rod in 1990. They separated nine years later but their divorce was not formalised until 2006.

The pair are still friends.

Rachel told a pal: “Rod has been amazing through all of this — a real support.”

When they met Rod had just been dumped by swimsuit model Kelly Emberg, angry he wouldn’t marry her.

After the split, Rachel’s romances included a 10-month fling with ROBBIE WILLIAMS in 2002.

And to think, just last November, Rachel was telling Hello! Magazine all about how Jarret got down on one knee and proposed to her in front of her children and her mom, saying he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. But I guess when you’re a 27-year-old pro hockey player, that’s a long time to be tied to one woman. This guy sounds like a class act. But you know, as painful as it must be to call off a wedding, it’s a heck of a lot better than a divorce. I’m sure a hottie like Rachel won’t be sitting around shedding tears for very long. Who needs him?

This is harsh and unexpected. The couple seemed pretty happy in that Hello! article. If Rachael were 27 and Jarret were 40 no one would blink an eye over the age difference. Sigh.

  2. dovesgate says:

Wow, he doesn’t look only 27 at all. Maybe 37.

  3. Because I Say So says:

I agree that it’s better to call it off instead of a divorce, but WTF? His cowardice in not telling Rachel about it (allegedly) seems pretty narcissistic. She’s better off without him!

Oh, and I thought they were the same age. He doesn’t look 27

  4. Annie says:

    Man. She’s looking great for 40! 🙂

  5. barneslr says:

Ned? Ned? Where are you Ned? Shouldn’t you be posting now about how unattractive and manly you find Rachel Hunter to be? I mean, that is what you do everytime there’s an article about a model.

  6. Leni says:

I too thought they were both in their late thirties or forties. Do not know who Ned is, but I must confess that I have never found Rachel Hunter attractive (model or not). She has a horse face and now (like me) has become a little pouchy faced.

  7. barneslr says:

Leni, Ned is pretty much a joke. Without fail, no matter WHO the article is about, Ned will post about how ugly and physically unattractive that person is. It doesn’t matter who it is; Ned always claims that the individual is ugly. It can be an actress, a singer, a supermodel–doesn’t matter. There is no one on the planet that is up to Ned’s standards.

I like Rachel Hunter so I feel bad for her, but I REEEEEEEEEALLY like Stoll so I’m not too torn up about it… ;P

  9. Vivienne says:

Rachel – better now than later – as painful as this is.

  10. justathought says:

In 10 short years, he will be 37 and she will be 50…unfortunately age matters and women will always get the short end of the stick…unless you’re a “Demi”.

  11. Ggirl says:

this is sad. I think I remember seeing some E! profile years ago about how she and Rod temporarily broke up while planning their wedding because she was such a perfectionist (she admitted this). Of course she and Rod reunited. I hope Rachel wasn’t being a Bridezilla during the wedding preparations. I think Jarrett should have at least given her an explanation especially since kids are involved.

  12. Lisa says:

This is sad..poor Rachel. Well, they always say the younger the man the more immature..and this guy takes the cake! Hopefully her next guy will treat her with more respect..

  13. Andrea says:

Interesting, the sports news guy here said it was week old news. (Stoll used to play here in edmonton).

But still, thats way harsh. And he didn’t even givee a reason?

  14. Caitlan says:

He’s 27! ? He looks a hell a lot older! But I don’t think couples with an age gap between them is a good idea male or female. (I’ve been witnessed to these kind of relationships.) Rachel and this guy are better off finding mates closer to their own age.

  15. BlueSkies says:

Forget age for she has the face of that lesbian in high school who wasn’t “out” yet.

  16. Jane says:

When your personal life is splashed across the world it becomes so impersonal. Rachel and Jarret need to heal and either get back together or move forward. I feel for Rachel’s son and he loves hockey, and this break up changes his relationship with Jarret whom is or was his coach. Somethimes grown-ups hurt the ones they love the most and her son deserves better from the grow-ups around him.
