I think his career is fine. Steady work is probably more important than super stardom, I’d say.
I agree – among other things, he’s had a steady run of great TV shows, and I think most actors would be thrilled with that. He also gets to work and live his life without all the pressure of billion dollar franchises and too much fame.
Santa Clarita Diet is gross but entertaining, and he is really funny on it. I LOVED Justified, and this is such a different turn, it has to be fun for him. He’s just fine.
I tuned in to the first ep/first season for him (loved him in Justified), but almost barfed on the the scene when Drew bites the guy’s fingers, so that was it. Sorry, Tim.
He’s amazing in Santa Clarita Diet. Drew won me over. That show is everything and every actor knocks it out of the park.

Timothy Oliphant and I grew up in the same town. We went to different high schools, but he actually went to the 30th HS reunion a few years back and was low-key and an absolute sweetheart to everyone there.
We’re still waiting for a Jeremy Renner sighting back in Modesto too 😜

All 3 are great shows worth watching, more than once.
I’m not worried about his career, I think Lainey has it correct. Olyphant is perfect in the roles in these TV shows, he is not a showy actor and the small screen does give the audience time to catch his subtle details.
I think he has a Paul Newman vibe to his talent, can do drama, comedy and beautiful as an extra.
Santa Clarita Diet is a real hoot! Laugh out loud funny, and I rarely say that.

Sophia’s situation is an example of how the technology came along before the ethics were worked out. I know from a friend who is an attorney for clinics, that there is a crisis regarding the storage of so many unused embryos. And when the corporation has a clinic located in a prolife state (often at first considered the cheapest place to do business), it’s a mess. Even things that seem innocuous, like electricity bills, can skyrocket due to the need to keep the embryos cold. There are far too many embryos now, and no real regulation. Sheer greed has led many of these corporations to get into this biz, with no real plan on how they’ll handle the issues. And parents are pulled into it as well, when prolifers and users like Sophia’s ex become abusive.
Sophia’s ex sounds like a complete nightmare. I hope he wastes all his money on lawyers and court fees and has nothing to show for it. Dude needs a new focus.
