Tom Hiddleston’s glorious beard & ginger curls promoted ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

Avengers Infinity War UK Fan Event - VIP Arrivals

This is going to be a good week, I can just feel it. My Spidey Sense is tingling. We have new photos of Tom Hiddleston for the first time in MONTHS. A Comet Named Sophie also made an appearance too! In fact, there are so many good photos that I’m breaking up this event so we can really enjoy and analyze. These photos are from last night’s “fan event” for Avengers: Infinity War in White City, London. Tom Hiddleston was there. Paul Bettany was there. Benedict Cumberbatch was there. Sebastian Stan, Elizabeth Olsen and Tom Holland were there. This is the meeting of so many internet crushes, past and present.

But for now, let’s just talk about Tom Hiddleston and this beard. Tom hasn’t been working on anything other than Avengers: Infinity War for the past year, really. He has no projects lined up past this either. My guess is that the beard is his hiatus beard, his out-of-work beard, his I’m-taking-a-break-from-drama beard. His 2016 was full of Night Manager hustling and Snake Drama. His 2017 began with a bang, with Kong: Skull Island (and that terrible/amazing GQ interview) and a Golden Globes speech that will go down in history as one of the most awkward moments of his career. Basically, he went into hiding one year ago, only coming up for air to briefly promote Thor: Ragnarok. But now he’s back. And I’m happy about it. Turns out, absence really did make my heart grow fonder. The gossip world is a happier place with his dancing snake hips and cheeseball vibe.

Also: some people would you like to believe that Elizabeth Olsen and Tom were flirting. As far as I know, she is still dating that other dude. So my guess is that they were just talking and catching up, who knows. Also: I completely hate her Alexandre Vauthier dress. Speaking of fashion though, look who got some NEW shoes!! Thank God, Tom.

The veranda is open! Comet Sophies all around. And we’re all wearing stripes on stripes this morning. And Tom, I told you to stop pushing the curls back. Set the curls free!

    • Justme says:

His curls are so long now and pretty free! Or as his hairdresser petransellege put on Instagram: tousled waves!

    • Cranberry says:

Oh yes I’ll have me a Comet Sophy to start off my day. I’m already trashed anyway so it won’t matter.

It’s been too long since my last fix. I’ll take my Tom any way I can get him at this point, even if he’s come down to earth and a little sad. Hell I’m depressed too. These are depressing times. Guess I’ll need another Sophy – hit me again lightpurp.

      • Lightpurple says:

I’ve seen absolutely nothing to indicate that he’s sad. Colin, will be right over with a fresh drink for you.

      • Cranberry says:

I could just be projecting. That’s possible. How nice to see Colin again too.

      • jetlagged says:

Has anyone seen Mark? Apparently some Swifties have wandered onto the property and are making a spectacle of themselves down by the pond. If they make a move toward the veranda he may need to deploy some active measures to shoo them away.

      • DB70 says:

Maybe he’s just matured and has learned to hold back a bit more.

      • Mynameismud says:

Totally agree about the sadness. How can you deny it. Typically grinning ear to ear in all photo opp’s. Sad about. Not. Being. Able. to break out of the Superhero genre. Can someone please explain why he attempted “Leading Man” roles? This guy would’ve had the greatest career if he had just chosen the “goofy-love-able-British-Rom-Com-guy” trajectory instead. I mean…this is surely what Hollywood wanted from him? To be the new Hugh Grant? Presumably he though he was as above that? Mistake Tom. Good luck buddy.

      • lightpurple says:

@Mynameismud, he has said in the past that he has never been offered a good romantic comedy role.

      • DB70 says:

I’m confused as to why everyone sounds like his career is over because he didn’t do as well as expected in the leading man roles. He’s 37 not 107.

      • jetlagged says:

It may have something to do with the fact he hasn’t announced a non-Marvel role (leading or otherwise) since 2014, and doesn’t appear to have anything pending that isn’t merely rumor or wishful thinking.

      • DB70 says:

But he’s had at least 2 projects released each year since 2014 and that’s not counting the theater work. Sounds like a steady working actor.

Heck, I’d love to take a year off so I don’t blame the guy for not taking any part that comes along and resting up a bit.

    • DB70 says:

Oooh! I’ve read about this veranda! Can I have a seat?

    • Lightpurple says:

@Jetflagged, Mark is going to let the dogs out for a good run.

      • jetlagged says:

That should do the trick. I hope the exotic pet license for the mongoose gets approved soon. I hear they are just the thing to have in case of an ill-timed snake infestation.

      • Lightpurple says:

In the meantime, we still have the fire hoses

      • Cranberry says:

I love you guys. You just kill me. 🙂

    • Skylark says:

Just going to post here as it seems safer and free from the ‘Swift’ mess that, from a quick scan, seems to have taken over the rest of this thread. Seriously, that’s still going on? How tedious.

Anyway, nice to see Tom and he looks good. I passed by him on a dog walk a few weeks back.

      • Lightpurple says:

Yes, Skylark, safer here. Thanks for the dog walk update. Please join us for a Comet Sophie

      • jetlagged says:

Lucky you. He is one of the few celebs I would break my ‘never meet your idol’ rule for. He is coming to my city for a convention this summer, and I almost talked myself into one of the photo/autograph packages, but couldn’t quite pull the trigger.

    • KISA says:

Is there a picture of the curls set free anywhere?

  2. Snazzy says:

I must say I think I prefer scruffy Tom to cleaned up pretty Tom

  3. Cas says:

    That dress looks so uncomfortable!

    • lightpurple says:

It also kept riding up on her. She had to reach back and pull it down over her butt when she was walking around hugging people.

      • lunchcoma says:

That hemline was designed by Satan.

      • Lindy79 says:

I really don’t get why stars wear dresses like this. You’d have known within a few minutes that this dress was going to be a nightmare to wear on a red carpet because of the length and material.

        Glad to see Hiddles back

      • M.A.F. says:

Going off of Lindy79’s comment- I’m always annoyed that the women at these event look so dolled up (maybe uncomfortable) while the guys look like they couldn’t even bother. Frankly, everyone should be on the same page.

      • spidee!!! says:

I’m always annoyed that the guys get to were the same penguin suit and comfy shoes at evening does. They don’t have to go find another dress and crippling skyscraper shoes for every event!

    • Nicole says:

This dress would’ve been a win for me if it was slightly longer. That hemline is just asking for a ill-timed photo

      • smcollins says:

Agreed @Nicole. I hate the shoulders and it’s too short, but damn, her legs are Ah-Mazing.

      • shelly says:

The shoulder pads are particularly awful. She does have great pair of legs though.

    • Cranberry says:

Those are some superhero level shoulder pads on that dress. Not sure what she was going for except to stick with the film’s genre.

      • shelly says:

Maybe it’s a subtle homage to Loki.

      • Cranberry says:

Yes, that green leather is the right color for Loki.

All she needs is a cape and a horned crown, and she could be Mrs. Loki. hahaha

    • Josie says:

Yes Lizzie we can all see your cleavage and thigh gap.

Isn’t there an unwritten fashion rule about a dress that is short and low-cut?

      • jetlagged says:

I think the rule is one or the other, but not both. Then again, if I had Lizzie’s smoking hot bod, you’d be hard pressed to get me into clothing at all, so I understand where she’s coming from.

      • Josie says:

I agree she has great legs, but no need for the low cut as well. Not classy at all.

You can show off your physical assets without showing so much flesh.

      • jetlagged says:

Agreed. I like Lizzie, and think her hair and makeup rank up there with the best in the biz, but her fashion choices always seem to miss the mark. I don’t know if she is making the decisions, or just wears what her stylist hands her, but I wish they could find the sweet spot between shlumpy and trollop. It’s always one or the other with no middle ground. She could wear the hell out of the right clothes, it’s just a question of finding them.

      • jammypants says:

Lizzie’s outfit for the press junket today seems nicer. She wore a white frock dress and long boots. Quite cute.

    • imqrious2 says:

It looks about a size too small. Tom’s jacket looks too small for him as well. Personally, while I wouldn’t want to see them in clothes that swamp them, what in the heck is wrong with wearing something that fits properly? Are there no more tailors in the world?

    • holly hobby says:

Ugh the shoulder pads! Don’t tell me this is coming back.

  4. LondonGal says:

Loving everything that’s going on here. I suspect quiet Tommy had to have a wee break and reassess post the Swift debacle and I for one would love to see his beautiful lank a little more, especially attached to a meaty and decent project. Here’s hoping.

    • Krill says:

That TSwift album must have a been a massive ego blow. He is just a mention to emphasize how great the new guy is and how she fell for him while with Tom. I mean given how much that relationship upended his image, it must suck to feel like you werent even a footnote in her life. Just a passing inconsequential fling.

      • DiligentDiva says:

Especially since he took her to meet his mom with days of hooking up. His family probably felt pretty betrayed after his behavior, he even brought his niece into it if I remember correctly. So he probably doesn’t even have them to turn to.

      • Lindy79 says:

And not like he did anything horrible to her, cheated on her etc. or we’d have heard about it and he’s been pretty complimentary about her (the GQ interview) or stayed quiet so she really f**ked him over. Pretty shitty and humiliating thing to do and then write songs about it, if a bloke had done that we’d all be rightly calling them out as an asshole. They were as bad as/used each other in the whole courting the press thing, it’s just a pity he was stupid enough to bring his family into it, I like the guy but that really left a bad taste in my mouth.

      • DiligentDiva says:

Newsflash all singers write about there personal life. Men, women, all singers do what Taylor does. How is it shitty of Taylor to have written the song? It’s what all singers do, and it wasn’t even that bad. It didn’t villianize him or anything, just her admitting to the fact that it wasn’t real and never had a chance of becoming real.

      • Lindy79 says:

        “Newsflash”…haha ok…
“just her admitting to the fact that it wasn’t real and never had a chance of becoming real. “…maybe say that at the time and don’t go on pap strolls meeting his family then? Just an idea?

She said she used him, that’s a shitty thing to do to another human being in my opinion, one who did nothing to you. Was she not capable of leaving a relationship without using someone else to do so? If not that says more about her than him.
They were as bad as each other in the PR handling of it all so I’m not blindly defending him.

      • DiligentDiva says:

That’s nearly all celebrities though? I don’t get why we act shocked that Taylor uses people and writes songs about her exes. She’s hardly the only one who does this, most celebrities do this to stay relevant. It’s not anything new, I don’t get how it’s shitty when all of them do this.
There are plenty of other reasons to criticize her. She’s got a list of issues, but people still resort to the shallow reasons.

      • theHord says:

“All singers” don’t go on a continuous rampage of passive-aggressive name-dropping, where afore mentioned names get dragged through the mud and used as gossip-fodder to boost up sales, while “all singers” paint themselves as the innocent victim. But thank you for playing.

      • DiligentDiva says:

Really? Did you not watch Miley Cyrus, or Selena Gomez, or Ed Sheehan, or Katy Perry? Yes all singers use there personal life for inspiration and hint at them in songs and in the press.
Acting like Taylor’s the only one who does this is tiring.

      • Lindy79 says:

Oh I could, but this is a Tom Hiddleston conversation so…..
But to answer your question, while we can say celebs use each other, this is true, but in a lot of cases it will be by mutual agreement (which this may well have been) in which case they both get something out of it, but I can’t think of someone so openly admitting and confirming to using someone and throwing them under the bus. Writing about a break up or getting screwed over is one thing, this is another.

      • shelly says:

        “DiligentDiva says:

        April 9, 2018 at 8:57 am

Especially since he took her to meet his mom with days of hooking up. His family probably felt pretty betrayed after his behavior, he even brought his niece into it if I remember correctly. So he probably doesn’t even have them to turn to.”

That’s reaching quite a bit don’t you think. I suspect that his relationship with his family is just fine. Of course I don’t know for sure but I think you’d have to do something pretty bad for you family to turn on you. And in the big scheme of things a pap walk on the beach is pretty mild.

      • theHord says:

“Miley Cyrus, or Selena Gomez, or Ed Sheehan, or Katy Perry” are not “all singers” (thank the heavens! though not even these ones base their entire career out on dating and feuding with celebs, so, no cigar). In the mean time, the vast majority of musicians, manage to write about their lives, without making an obvious and catty spectacle out of it. Snake Emoji could take notice (but hélas, those sales numbers won’t up themselves).

      • theHord says:

@shelly they are certainly being very diligent on painting Tom as the reject nobody wants anyway. Not even his family! Hum….

      • Cranberry says:

I really don’t think he is that hurt by anything Taylor does. I’m sure he sees her now for who she is , which is pretty juvenile. Tom always tries to see the best in everyone, and I’m sure she can be a nice, sweet person, but you also have to take her actions at face value. The excuse that it’s all for promoting her music doesn’t erase her consistently petty behavior.

Even though I think he wishes he wasn’t associated with her, Tom’s not the type to hold grudges. I think his sadness comes more from the dissolution of how he thought the film industry worked. I think he believed that if you’re really, really nice and work really hard and go the extra mile that people would take care of you, advise you well and help you advance. Instead he saw how the industry is just a bunch of takers that are totally willing to take as much as they can for as little as they can offer.

      • Cranberry says:

” Miley Cyrus, or Selena Gomez, or Ed Sheehan, or Katy Perry? Yes all singers use there personal life for inspiration and hint at them in songs and in the press.”

        @Dilgent

With the occasional exception of Katy Perry, Swift is by far the worst of these offenders and by a long distance. She’s actually made it a trademark of her image and brand. Which means that TS is nothing but a bunch of BS + few catchy songs. lol

      • Lightpurple says:

I think there’s a lot of strange reaching and some projecting going on here. What other singers who sell to the teeny bopper market use for their song inspiration is irrelevant to how someone treats other people – and that’s the issue, right? The treatment of other people? That relationship was almost two years ago; they’ve moved on. Others should too. I’m tired of hearing about it. He brought family members to the premieres of Kong, Thor: Ragnarok and Early Man so I suspect they haven’t abandoned him. I don’t see this “sadness” people are attributing to him. He seemed to be having a great time hanging out with Maisie Williams and making clay figures to promote Early Man. In the past, he said he couldn’t get a dog because he travels all the time and there was nobody to take care of the dog. He has a dog now, which tells me that there is someone to help take care of the dog. ETA I’ve never heard of all this heavy drinking either. Is that libelous Tumblr account still spinning stories?

      • Josie says:

No all singers do not publicise their private life – not to the narcissistic level that Swift does to sell records, that is a stretch.

Which is why any serious actor who values their image shouldn’t get involved with her. I would say that now, 2 years ago and 5 yrs ago based on the string of public bfs she’s rolled out.

      • Josie says:

@Lightpurple I don’t see sadness so much, but he does appear to be behaving differently from before at red carpet events like this. Particularly he seems more reserved and less enthusiastic with the press

      • no no says:

“DiligentDiva you Swifties are something 🙂 Oh so now he lost his family? How powerful Tay Tay is – she destroyed his career, made him depressed, his family and friends turn on him and he can’t find another GF bcs he still crying after TS. You are so funny. Under every articles on CB about Snake or Hiddles, you post your fan fiction. I love that you’re a Swiftie, but want to hide it. You Swifties are so hard trying to paint TH as famewhore and a bad BF. You made up stories how EO is mad at him (99% blind items are made up darling) etc. BUt no one buy this BS. And you can defend Tay Tay, but GP saw her true colors.

      • jammypants says:

It amuses me how blind Swifties are. Even now, she is using Joe for image cleanup and album material. It’s what she does. But it’s always the other person’s fault.

      • imqrious2 says:

Lindy79, we do: we call him “John Mayer” 🤣😂

  5. Beth says:

He looks delicious with curls and facial hair. Yummy

  6. Digital Unicorn says:

Tommy used to be my fave ginger but that died when he shackled his wagon to the Snake emoji – he’s now been replaced by bouncing Domhnall Gleeson.

  7. lunchcoma says:

My crush on him didn’t exactly grow back, but I’m glad to see him surface again. After the last couple of years of celebrity culture, I can appreciate a famous person whose biggest sin is being a dork.

He and Olsen have been coworkers for longer than they dated. They’re probably friendly at this point.

  8. Jayna says:

I’m stunned. I actually now find him attractive with the facial hair and his wavy hair and wearing glasses and that great suit on him.

    • imqrious2 says:

Hear, hear! I think he’s *infinitely* more attractive with the “tousled waves”, beard and glasses!

  9. serena says:

Tom Hilddleston AND Sebastian Stan? I don’t need anything else. Anyway, Tom should always keep this look, he’s gorgeous!

  10. Renee2 says:

He always looks uncomfortable when he’s photographed in public now.

  11. Mia4s says:

I had forgotten that Hiddleston and Olsen dated! Back in the innocent pre-tank top days!

Olsen could give lessons in Hollywood on having an interesting dating life while remaining mostly above the drama. Boyd Holbrook, Hiddleston, and apparently a brief Diego Luna interlude in there somewhere (“Brief Diego Luna Interlude” is going to be the name of my new band). Although she seems to have moved away from actors. Probably a good call.

  12. Chef Grace says:

No to that beard. Yes to the longer curls.
Love the suit and the shoes.
I have to confess. I did cringe thinking those gray shoes would make an appearance.

    • browniecakes says:

I’m good with the hair. The glasses could be smaller or… absent.

      • Case says:

You think? I’ve been a big fan of the glasses since they first appeared. He looks sharp in them.

    • Cranberry says:

The beard is ok, but I’d prefer him smooth, and yes to every thing else including the new shoes.

      • jetlagged says:

If he would embrace a goatee and give up on the sides I would be happy with that. Tom, I love you but you’ll never be able to grow a full beard, and the patchy cheeks and jawline are giving me a bikini-wax-grow-out vibe that I just can’t unsee.

      • Anon says:

Agreed re sides of beard. Some of the close ups were way too pubic for my liking!

  13. DiligentDiva says:

He looks miserable, and wasn’t there BI about Tom wanting to get back with Elizabeth but she did a pap walk with her new man? I suspect Elizabeth was just like “see you could of had me but instead chose a fake relationship with Swift” lol. I don’t know what Tom’s going through but he’s been looking bad since like Getaway Car was released in November. I wonder if he got upset when he realized how little he meant to Taylor.
Elizabeth dress is awful though what was her stylist thinking? She’s such a pretty woman, this is frustrating.

    • lightpurple says:

Any relationship he had with Olsen, if there even was one, was over months before he even met Swift so he didn’t choose one over the other.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

I suspect that being associated with the Snake emoji did have an affect on his career, he became a joke whereas previously he’d been seen as an excitable but serious actor who had very good prospects. His thirst for fame bit him on the asp (deliberate typo).

      • DiligentDiva says:

That’s his own fault, either the relationship was fake and he tried to get famous with a super fake relationship, or he was stupid enough to think getting involved with a high profile woman days after a famous break up would end well for him.

      • Cranberry says:

“getting involved with a high profile woman days after a famous break up”
        @DiligentDiva

What are you talking about? First he did not try to get back with Olsen after TS, and if you’re referring to him hooking up with TS after he and Olsen ended then you’re time line is off. What ever was between him and Olsen was not out as general public knowledge and was seemingly over well before he started to escapade around with the snake queen.

      • DiligentDiva says:

I was talking about Calvin Harris and a there was a blind item about that.

      • Lindy79 says:

So basically it’s all Tom’s fault and she holds no responsibility for anything? Because that’s the tone you’re giving off, that she did nothing wrong.
        Got it.

      • DiligentDiva says:

She holds accountability for her part, he holds accountability for his. If she let him think it was real (which I don’t think she did) then that’s on her. And Taylor got a whole bunch of comeuppance in 2016 so it’s not like she went away without any damage. She was mocked for the relationship, and then the Kimye shit dropped and she took a hard hit. She even says it in LWYMMD that she got what was coming to her (although there a bunch of problems with that song, she does acknowledge that).
But if it was a fake PR relationship like most suspect then how is she at fault if he can’t get over it?

      • Lindy79 says:

Sigh..because she’s the one releasing songs about it and leaking stuff to the press about her new love while bringing him up (Taylor’s SO much happier with Joe, she was hunched over when with Tom etc.). He hasn’t mentioned her in over a year.

You don’t think she let on it was real? She happily went on pap strolls linking arms with his mum haha! You don’t do that if you’ve made it clear from the start that it’s a fling or you don’t want publicity. Even if he was the instigator, she happily went along with it and the pap strolls (and probably orchestrated them) If it hadn’t been received like a bag of cold sick she wouldn’t have dropped him the way she did.

Also part of her bad 2016 was before this, and she clearly used him to deflect from the KIMYE stuff (which again was her own doing).

      • jammypants says:

Er…I recall DD also insinuating that it was Tom who got paps to show up at RI. Yet how was it that Dan Whooten at The Sun explicitly claimed his sources are from team TS both for the RI exclusive AND the Joe exclusive? Hate to break it to you, but this tactic is the usual employ of Swift. Also, it’s her MO to do this kind of stuff. Tom was a moron to go along with it but he did not orchestrate it.

      • Josie says:

“But if it was a fake PR relationship like most suspect then how is she at fault if he can’t get over it?”

Er, he isn’t writing songs about it and dropping stories to the press about how “private” he is🙄

      • jammypants says:

Ditto Josie. He hasn’t said a word since GQ and that was over a year ago. Swift is going on about it this album cycle while Tree drops shade after shade to E!, The Sun, and Daily Mail. Swift is getting way more mileage using her exes for fame and album sales. Methinks she needs them for material more than they need her. See how they all steer clear of her, deflect when she’s brought up, and go under radar after dating her.

    • theHord says:

Uh, such vilifying and trashing of Tom. Wonder where that came from?…

    • Josie says:

The story about Olsen was from a D grade gossip mag. Not all gossip sources are equal

    • mags says:

Must really hurt a swifty that Tom is about to have a third box office hit in a row on his hands and the snake can’t sell out a single show on her tour.

      • jetlagged says:

I saw a comment somewhere that the VIP tickets to Swift’s shows have just been seriously discounted. Some of the best seats are now cheaper than the average seats were when they first went on sale. Taylor will still make squillions from the tour, but it sounds like her team seriously overestimated just how much people were willing to pay this time around.

      • no no says:

Tickets on Snake tour are on Groupon now 🙂 She has like 2-3 shows in Europe (in UK) and still she can’t sell it. Her european fans don’t want to see her? Or she doesn’t have them. She is so local and Swifties can;t stand that. Most (like 70%) her sales for Reputation album are from US. They said that she is a huge star in China bcs she sell 1 mln of Reputation. Well TNM saw 40 mln in CHina and I won’t even start about Kong and Marvel sales there. Hiddles is a bigger star there for sure. They can’t stand that her ex can have live and succes after she broke up with him. They now are freaking up bcs Calvin&Dua Lipa song is no1 on Itunes and Snake can’t get to no20 with any of her last few songs.

      • Hmm says:

I doubt it. When she earns more then the entire cast combined she will be happy that she carried her tour alone. I mean they are out there in packs of what appears to be baseball teams promoting one movie. She hardly seems pressed about her tours performance. Her haters are far more pressed then she or her fans.

Topping iTunes. Are you kidding. Taylor topped iTunes with everything she released prior to reps release and surpassed rihanna as the person with the most #1’s in singles sales. Try again. Calvin’s song is new and is not competing with an album that has already sold millions. Duh. Nearly four million people ww already own reps songs by having purchased the album.

      • mags says:

It’s not 4 million people. it’s her fans buying multiple copies of her album and then bragging about it on the internet. Her fans also setting up multiple accounts and streaming her songs and having her videos on repeat. They brag about inflating her numbers. So, I take all those “records” with a huge grain of salt.

And it is not her name that is selling out this tour alone. She always promotes herself off of someone else, which is why her team loves the feuds and songs about exes. She is not interesting enough on her own.

      • MI6 says:

        Boom.

      • Hmm says:

Let’s not be delusional she’s not using anyone to promote her album or tour, not even herself. It does not matter who bought the album, millions and millions have been sold, is that better? She’s not jealous of movies toms in and it’s silly to think someone who can earn close to $200m dollars during her album and tour cycle would he jealous of a pack of actors forced to promote a movie together for a fraction of what she will earn. Most of the avengers, Kong and Thor money is going to go to big Hollywood studios and the heads of those studios. Not tom. And she has not mentioned tom. If you’ve noticed it is SHE who has been in the stable relationship for the past 1.5 years so exes don’t exist for her. Now toodles.

      • mags says:

Huh? Your argument does not even make sense.

If her fans bought a lot of albums just to chart her higher, then it doesn’t actually matter the numbers she sold as it is inflated. As for how much she makes, that doesn’t mean she is a better person than all these actors out there promoting a movie. She seems like a miserable person, happy people don’t hold grudges or do petty and spiteful things on a regular basis like she does. Money doesn’t equal happiness. And she has huge overhead costs herself. She is the face and name of a brand that has a lot of people she has to pay. She herself is not going to pocket $200 million from her tour. That is just the gross, not the net. She still has to pay out a lot to her crew, managers, lawyers, etc. She will make money, but this tour is not going to be the big money maker her people are predicting when it doesn’t sell out.

And hate to break it to you, but she has been using Joe of late to promote her music. She has actually done a lot of promo. Every time you read a planted story that details her personal life, she is promoting her tour. All those videos she is making are promo for her tour and album and song. She has been promoting it a lot. And she has been releasing her stuff at a petty time when it impacts Katy Perry or Tom Hiddleston, which generates more headlines and that generates to more sales and attention. Maybe if you understood how the industry works better, you would know some of this stuff and would not be calling other people delusional.

  14. Miss M says:

    Looking good, Tom!

  15. PoodleMama says:

I feel like t swift permanently stole his swag.

  16. SuperStef says:

Am I the only person who doesn’t find him the least bit attractive? He looks like a young boy to me. I actually laughed when I heard his name next to Bond.

I’m sure he’s a nice guy but I find him 2/10 on the hot manliness scale…

    • DiligentDiva says:

He was attractive around Thor 2 era but his looks have gone downhill fast. Lack of sunscreen and drinking has aged him fast.

      • ValiantlyVarnished says:

I have never read or seen a single thing about Tom being a heavy drinker and he doesn’t look like one either. He started in Thor when he was only 29 and is now 37. So yes he has aged.

      • Cranberry says:

        Ditto @Valiently

Tom’s not a heavy drinker or smoker nor does he look like one. Go look at Sean Penn if you want to see what that looks like. And Sean has been looking like some version of that for most his life.

    • Cranberry says:

Tom’s looks are more of a delicate or refined nature which doesn’t necessarily do as well with age or with too much sun exposure which is he has had a lot of these past years of filming all over the world.

    • DiligentDiva says:

I was talking about Taylor break up with Calvin Harris which happened days before his relationship with Taylor? That was a famous break up, and if you get with someone immediately after a break up your gonna get burned. It’s common sense.
There was a blind item about Tom calling Elizabeth up begging her to get back with him, but she apparently responded by doing a pap walk with her new man.

      • Cranberry says:

Your blind item sounds like a bunch of made up dribble on both parts. Begging and a shade pap walk response doesn’t sound like anything either Tom or Elisabeth would do. I think you got yourself a lemon there.

      • jetlagged says:

“That was a famous break up, and if you get with someone immediately after a break up your gonna get burned.” If that’s true, I’m surprised Taylor hasn’t up and burst into flames at this point. I hope Joe Whatshisname has gotten that particular memo, because even Swift’s own timeline suggests there was some serious overlap between Hiddleswift and Toe.

      • Josie says:

“There was a blind item about Tom calling Elizabeth up begging her to to get back with him”

That was from somewhere like Life & Style or similar, a d grade gossip site. And that Lizzie is bothered by such stories shows that she plays the pr game (as Tom does also).

However, it’s not the same as a publicist’s story to US Weekly or People, like the standard PR strategy of a certain narcissistic pop star 😉

      • Meggles says:

The fan event pretty much confirmed that some of the TH/EO blinds were fake (the one about her having him banned from Marvel publicity events due to whatever went down when they were dating or hooking up ), since they’re clearly on perfectly good and friendly terms. Which casts all the blinds about them into serious doubt.

  17. ME says:

For any Hiddlestans out there, the podcast Thirst Aid Kit (which is hilarious and unexpectedly thoughtful) just did an excellent episode on Tom Hiddleston. It includes his reading of E. E. Cummings. Sploosh.

  18. Snowflake says:

I’ve never found him attractive but I do here, with the curls and beard.

    • Tiffany says:

This is Wallander Hiddles, which to me, was the best Hiddles.

      • Lightpurple says:

Second season Wallender Hiddles when the curls flowed freely and we got the great “because murder is exhausting” line.

  19. Tiddlesbored says:

The unkempt look suits Tom better, makes him more manly.

Re work, some weeks ago he was spotted in the outskirts of London where a BBC series was being filmed, and apparently they are keeping the project and the full cast under wraps.

    • Lightpurple says:

When they were promoting Early Man, Maisie Williams hinted he was working on something but was bound to secrecy when he was asked about Kong/Godzilla. He just laughed.

      • Tiddlesbored says:

The series is an adaptation of John Le Carré’s Little Drummer Girl. They were shooting in Leatherhead. Seems like he has a penchant for Le Carré.

      • Cranberry says:

        @Tiddlesbored

yes he does admire Le Carre a great deal. That was evident during TNM promoting. But there is a lot of interest and demand for a sequel to TNM which no one had anticipated. There’s no book sequel so they are perhaps just filming another Le Carre book with Tom and giving it a similar treatment as TNM. That’s my guess.

      • spidee!! says:

Sorry the Leatherhead sighting was false, and what reason would he have for keeping it quiet if he were filming it

Be nice if I was wrong though. 🙂

      • cr says:

@Cranberry, there is an adaptation of Little Drummer Girl being filmed, but no evidence that Hiddleston is involved. I think spidee! is correct, it was probably false/mistaken identity.

      • jammypants says:

For some reason people mistake Alex Skarsgard for Hiddles and Vice verse sometimes.

    • Rachel says:

The Leatherheae sighting was confirmed as fake, alas. I doubt he’s working on anything right now though signs are more hopeful for the James Ivory RII project.

  20. Veronica S. says:

He actually looks pretty good with the long hair and beard. On the other hand, it also makes him look like a forty-something novelist who finally hit it big and who is now divorcing his wife of twenty years because the ART has demanded he chase co-eds.

  21. Tiffany says:

This opus is clocking in at 2:40 ya’ll. So nap up and control your fluids.

    • lunchcoma says:

Action movies are all too long these days. You’re not making Lawrence of Arabia, people.

    • Lindy79 says:

      2…hours and 40…..minutes. Fecks sake!

1 baby Lindy later and no way will I make it through without at least 1 loo break.

      • Tiffany says:

And don’t even get me started on the 15 minutes of previews and the end credits. So I am just gonna give it a solid 3 hours schedule.

    • Lightpurple says:

How long are the credits? Those are usually included in the running time and for the MCU they can be quite lengthy. I’ve run to the ladies room & come back for the end title scene and stil had to wait for it. But yes, more than 2 hours is way too long for this.

    • M.A.F. says:

How am I suppose to have a (alcoholic) drink during the film if it’s 2 hours & 40 minutes? I guess the 30 minutes of previews is for the ladies room.

  22. shelly says:

He looks great in these pics. Really liking his hair.

  23. Gabbygirl2 says:

Hiddlesston is an excellent actor, but he was always bland to me. Stan looks handsome sometimes. Olson is very pretty and talented, but is in desperate need for a good stylist. Her choices of outfits detract from her looks. Hemsworth is vacationing with his good friend Damon in Australia instead of attending the premiere. Go figure that one.

    • Justme says:

This wasn’t the premiere. It was a fan event where about 20 minutes of footage was shown. There have been events in Brazil and there will be more in South Korea (where Tom and Ben will both attend- Tom Holland too), Singapore (Ben will be there) and Shanghai (Chris Hemsworth, RDJ And Tom Hiddleston will be there). There are others as well. But the actual premiere is April 23 in LA. I’m sure Chris H will attend that.

      • Lightpurple says:

And they’re not letting Tom Holland see you the whole film or read the whole script until the premiere because he can’t keep secrets

      • Cranberry says:

Tom Holland can’t keep a secret.? What do mean? Hmm.
I’m more of the mind now that Holland makes up stories. lol

  24. MI6 says:

    Infinity curls 😍

  25. maxine ducamp says:

I’m hoping it is not “hiatus beard/hair” but James Ivory’s Richard II finally got funding or Hamlet is getting a West End run beard/hair.

    • Lightpurple says:

As of an interview a week or so ago, nobody had bought Ivory’s Richard II script. That thing has been kicking around for 20 years with DDL and Branagh originality attached to it. I don’t think it will ever happen

      • maxine ducamp says:

@lightpurple, I read the same interview and know the history but hope springs eternal (hence starting the sentence with “I’m hoping”).

      • Justme says:

There is a line producer now for the RII film. And Ivory has switched to “thinking it will happen” and “ renewed interest”. So maybe . . .? One can hope anyway.

    • DB70 says:

I’d like to think the longer hair/bear is for a second season of The Night Manager. Pine has to change his look in case Roper survived.

  26. DB70 says:

I like the curls! The best picture was on twitter of him holding the 2 boys from the Starlight Foundation.

    • Meggles says:

That was amazing. Especially since he got dragged a little bit for being “late” and the last one to show up on the red carpet, then the Starlight tweeter confirmed he’d actually been the first to arrive at the event, and was only late to the red carpet because he’d spent so much time with the sick children first.

That’s class. Friendly and generous with fans and fellow actors, but no f***s to give for the press.

      • DB70 says:

I think his actions last night with his priority being with those children show what kind of person he is in reality. Had the mother not tweeted then everyone would have gone on that he was mad or sad or whatever.

Guess that shows that it’s all just speculation and only the people involved know the real story.

  27. Case says:

He looks great. A little subdued, maybe, but since he usually overcompensates so hard in the opposite direction, that isn’t a bad thing.

  28. Ninette says:

Tom looks great. I really hope that this is the beginning of him coming back into the limelight and to work. Also I love to think that Tom and Lizzie are flirting. They look lovely together 🙂

  29. mags says:

I think he is trying to avoid the “thirsty” reputation he got, which explains his new behavior.

His fans are going overboard calling him depressed and then if you don’t agree, you are a nanny. What is more of a nanny than worrying about him being depressed and worried about him? He looks like he is happy enough when just around his costars and the children he visited before showing up to the event. He needs to shed those crazy fans and I get the new strategy with the press. I would be wary too after how they treated him. Considering the Metoo stuff, Hiddleston and his thirst is harmless.

    • jetlagged says:

Wary is a good word for it. I’d argue his apparent reserve has more to do with the press reaction than what a small segment of his fanbase is carrying on about. Most of his fans have moved on from the “thirst” bashing, but many in the press (especially those in his home country) are still actively roasting him whenever he comes out of hiding. It’s been two years, they should find a fresh target. As you’ve said, there are bigger fish to fry.

    • lunchcoma says:

I see no signs that Tom is depressed, either. My impression of him is that while he can be emotional in conversation, he’s a pretty stable person. At 37, the only really weird thing he’s done is Taylor Swift debacle. He hasn’t had a 19-year-old girlfriend or a baby or mused about quitting acting or gotten a dumb tattoo or gotten a reputation for drinking or made any weird professional decisions. I think he takes his lumps by talking to his family and close friends and moves on. He doesn’t truly have anything to be depressed about – he’s a rich single guy who at least have a career in stage as long as he wants one.

      • Lightpurple says:

I’ve also always said that his media persona depends on what he is selling. Avengers & early Thor films, Feige was trying to sell the MCU concept and needed a charismatic dancing bear. Tom did that for him. He was calmer, more sedate when selling Hollow Crown, OLLA, Coriolanus, his UNICEF work. He played games and made creatures out of clay with Maisie Williams for Early Man and donned a silly wig & rolled on the floor for Thor: Ragnarok with the rest of the cast. The MCU is now a major success with dozens of members; he can dial it down and just be one of the cast now.

      • sweets says:

“He doesn’t truly have anything to be depressed about”

        Um… that’s not how mental illness works…

(no comment on Tom in particular as it’s NMB but ad a MH advocate this comment hot a nerve… proclaiming that people have nothing to be depressed about is pretty ignorant and harmful, and contributes to the culture of silence/shame)

      • lunchcoma says:

sweets: I agree entirely that’s not how clinical depression works (I have it myself), but the whole talking point that Tom is depressed is based on inaccurate and harmful stereotypes of depression. The fan theory is basically that he’s sad that Taylor Swift dumped him and that he didn’t get cast as James Bond and is moping around because of that. If he has depression, there’s a good chance we wouldn’t be able to tell by his behavior at public appearances and would only know if he chose to tell us.

      • lunchcoma says:

Lightpurple: I agree he changes his persona based somewhat on what he’s promoting. I also think that he is far from the only rich, white, male actor who’s been a little quiet and off the radar lately. I mean, I think he is being intentionally low key because of the Taylor thing. However, let’s say that hadn’t happened and people were still passing around conspiracy theories that he was secretly married to that woman from Wimbledon. Would he really be all that eager to talk about working with Woody Allen and answer questions about his opinions on Brexit and Trump? Some of his smarter low peers have been taking media hiatuses or keeping their interviews more low key because they don’t want to say something stupid. It also just doesn’t really seem like the place for white guys to take up a lot of airtime. It seems like it makes more sense for women to talk for a bit until society has processed some of this change.

      • sweets says:

I agree that diagnosing and stereotyping from photos is silly, and that we would only know if he (/anyone in that position) told us.

I just also think that refuting one type of stereotype and stigma with another (that some people have no reason to be depressed, anxious etc) is harmful.

Nothing personal against you – I’ve read a lot of things that are meant to be defending Tom from the “accusation” of being depressed (which… is a whole other issue because people are acting like depression is a scarlet letter and rare rather than something that affects 1/4 and feels very boring for some who live chronically with it) which reinforce stereotypes of their own. And I understand the core issue that it IS stupid to concern porn and try and force a MI on a stranger. I just think we can be more nuanced than saying he has nothing to be depressed about and scrambling for pics of him smiling disprove it(or indeed frowning to prove it).

  30. Case says:

I was so fixed on Tom that I missed Elizabeth’s dress situation. How does one sit in that gracefully, exactly?

Nice that she and Tom appear to be friendly exes.

  31. hkk says:

If that is her birth nose then I truly deeply apologize but wth, leave beautiful alone.

    • Case says:

Though it doesn’t look it, I do believe it’s her natural nose. Never seen her look any different, although she is an Olsen. Maybe she got a nose job young. She’s very pretty regardless.

  32. so cool says:

Put Avengers aside – There are more important things. Where is Bobby the puppy? 🙂 WHy is Hiddles torture us and won’t show him more often 🙂

    • Lightpurple says:

Bobby the Puppy has decided to keep a more private profile and not let others take advantage of him for their own PR. But Bobby the Puppy would like us to know he is very happy in his new relationship and thinks his master is gorgeous

      • so cool says:

🙂 🙂 You get it wrong. He would like us to know he is very happy in his new RS and HIS MASTER THINKS BOBBY IS GORGEOUS AND IS LOVE OF HIS LIFE. 🙂 The most important is Bobby in this RS 🙂
he is some petty, narcissistic diva isn’t he? 🙂

      • waitwhat says:

His Master feels privileged to have a dog like Bobby, and is very happy to stay out of the spotlight for him.

      • Meggles says:

I’ve never seen a Marvel movie but I’m a fully paid up member of the Bobby Hiddleston Fanclub.

  33. Izzy says:

Absolutely loving the curls. I would hit that over and over. Like a home run.

    • Angie S. says:

Well not only you 🙂 This look on TH is too much. He looks here best in ages.

  34. Booie says:

    Tom looks good!

As for Olsen, I’m sorry but I’ve seen interviews of the guy she’s dating and there’s no possible way he is straight. He talks and acts very much the opposite. He also seems to enjoy publicizing the relationship in a failed attempt to gain excitment for his band. I remember he posted videos of her on his bands Instagram page last year which set off major red flags and is doing the same now around infinity war press.

Not sure what’s in it for Olsen but she’d be better off with a proper gentleman like Tom.

  35. Grace says:

He looks well rested. That’s good. 🙂

  36. Ce2495 says:

Tom looks like a snack. Elizabeth looks very pretty as well. Love everything about the dress except the length…. a longer hem will be more comfortable.

  37. lunchcoma says:

Heh. I haven’t been around these parts for a long time, but it kind of warms my heart to see a 170 comment thread about Tom Hiddleston based on absolutely no gossip of note about him. It’s like the old days!

    • Willow says:

Especially when 4 or 5 of the people comment at least post at least 10 comments each! Yay!

      • lunchcoma says:

Can we do the thing where we all pretend that Tom Hardy and Chris Evans are part of our harem, and if so can I call dibs on Oscar Isaac? It’s been a weird day.

      • lightpurple says:

        Of course, you may, lunchcoma!

  38. Andrea says:

Is it just me or does Elizabeth Olsen looks like she is wistful about Tom? Maybe it is just the angle of the picture…

  39. Dee says:

I always loved the way Tom looked as Henry with the beard and long hair and I am liiiiving for this look. Damn boo. Welcome back.

  40. DB70 says:

Just noticed a picture online from a few years ago and he’s smiling closed mouthed like he was the other night. The only thing different is he looks like he’s making a comical face when he’s not all bearded up and I’m sure it’s the same face he’s making now but we just can’t see it under all the hot scruffiness. I’m sure that’s why some people are saying he’s sad but I think a lot of his big expressions are just hidden in the scruff.
