Bella Thorne makes $65k per Instagram post and she has 12 cats

bellaheader
Do you know how people make fun of Bella Thorne, 20, for being so thirsty, for posting so many photos, for showing so much skin and for dressing like a deranged muppet? All of that is getting her paid and she knows exactly what she’s doing. Bella has a new documentary with Vogue, it’s only 18 minutes long but it feels so much longer. It features Bella talking to the camera about her career and image. There are scenes of her trying on various outfits and wigs, going to events and hanging out with her entourage. She talks at length about her goals and vision for the future. You can see the video below and here are some highlights:

Bella, to the camera, on being raised with social media
I put myself out there on social media because I want people to see who I am. I was raised to think social media is everything. When I was young my mom used to run my social media and [she] was like ‘let’s bake cupcakes and take a photo of it.’ I was like ‘well what about baking cupcakes and not taking a photo of it?’ People really get lost in the world of social media… what’s real what’s fake.

Bella, on the phone in a scene explaining her posting rates
For grid posting it’s 65 grand a post for the grid. For story posting it’s anywhere from 10 to 20 K. For Snapchat it’s the same as Instastory.

Bella, to the camera, on Instagram
Instagram is 100% a job to me. I started out at 18 with literally $200 in my bank account. I bought this house a year later. It’s all from social media. It’s from studying that sh-t. Demographics and ratios and engagement and definitely the more technical side of it. Finally hit a mill likes on a photo. [I was] in a rather body conscious dress. ‘Oh, this is what you like. This is what you want to see. So I kind of try to even it out.’

[From Vogue Documentary via US Magazine]

Bella’s older sister Dani tells the camera that the looks Bella uses for her social media “are not Bella day to day.” We also see inside Bella’s house, which is full of random bizarre items like a teepee she sleeps in decorated with fake flowers and paint spatters, a giant creepy mannequin in the entryway, a big plastic dinosaur in her living room and hand drawn art on the walls. She has 12 cats, I’m not even exaggerating.

Bella cracked me up a couple of times in this video, at about 8:30 she says “I do believe in putting things out in the universe. I notice that when I say things and then they happen. I’m like ‘Bro, I just f’ing said that. What the f-k.’ So then I take that and we put it into the mood board.” Bella’s mood board is like a vision board. At about 12:30 she’s in the studio recording music with the spoken refrain “bitch I’m Bella Thorne.” It’s terrible and ridiculous but she knows that, saying that the song started out as a joke.

Dani said that Bella is expanding her brand and starting a record label, makeup line and production company while continuing to do shows and movies. I came away from this with a much different opinion of Bella. She seems like a train wreck but that’s somewhat by design. She’s not “accidentally” going out with various wigs in ridiculous outfits. She knows the paparazzi are there and she knows we’re watching. She’s made that her career.

Here’s the video and they do swear in it.

Update: I’m sorry there weren’t any cat photos in this post! Here are some, her Instagram doesn’t have that many. Also she has puppy named “Tampithetampon” who has her own Instagram.

her bf looks like a love child of Buster Poindexter and Miley Cyrus.

    • Ankhel says:

I was thinking a britpopper possessed by a juggalo spirit.

It’s a real feat to look more outlandish than Bella, anyway. Imagine their conversations. Or not.

  2. Bridget says:

This is just one of the things that makes me think we as a society are doomed.

    • Natalie S says:

I’m looking at this thinking, “These darn kids need to get off my lawn!” I don’t get so much of this and it makes me feel old.

  3. psl says:

This girl is a sad meth head, yet makes 65k per Ig post?

    Why?
If girls are looking up to her, that is even scarier than girls wanting to be like Kylie Jenner.

    • Kashmir says:

@PSL a bit harsh no? She’s the typical Hollywood child that was chewed up an spit out after the momager /producers/DISNEY! Got what they wanted out of her. How would you turn out? Yes there are examples like Zendaya who can be “proof” you can grow into “the perfect role model”, but Zendaya may have some demons as well. She felt free to kiss someone at 18 after worrying so long about her image, something that’s completly natural..that should tell you how f—- up her childhood in the Disney factory possibly was with parents that turn a blind eye and spend their kids money. She came out with 200$ an made a career for herself AGAIN, let the girl live

      • psl says:

She is still a sad meth head who little girls admire. How she got there is not the point.
        Sorry, but that is frightening.

      • Kelly says:

She worked steadily throughout her childhood. It sounds like her money was mismanaged or stolen.

      • Kashmir says:

@Kelly most likely it was both from everyone around her..there’s no way you can work that long in that business an only come out with 200$..only time she mentioned her mom is calling her a compulsive liar..she’s definitely got some demons..

      • magnoliarose says:

Zendaya didn’t escape unscathed. None of the kids do. Some just hide it better. It is sad, and unfortunately, a lot of these young actors have parents who care more about money and perks than they do about their children.

      • FLORC says:

        MagnoliaRose
        Truth.
They’re all marked somehow. It doesn’t always play out in public. A close, personal friend was 1.
The stories she told. Even with the most ideal family support its damaging. The Disney Factory chews you up.
I won’t spill that tea out of context. But these children. The abuse. The bubble they exist in. How they’re abandoned by the universe they knew over night. Awful.

    • Kashmir says:

Damn that’s f—-up..I’m more worried about people who look up to you, your the one that’s coming off as cold hearted/angry..at least she’s making bank being herself

      • psl says:

Think what you want. I wouldn’t want anyone looking up to you either, if you think this is okay.

        Have a nice day.

    • Leviathan says:

“If girls are looking up to her, that is even scarier than girls wanting to be like Kylie Jenner.”

Why are you so scared of what other people are doing? Who cares?

      • psl says:

Society is in the TOILET because of “role models” like this. I am surprised you DON’T care.

      • FLORC says:

        PSL
Society is not in the toilet because of that reason. That’s a very loaded and narrow minded statement or claim.

And shes not a role model. You’re giving her major credit.
Sounds like maybe theres ab ace to grind against her specifically

      • Leviathan says:

“Society is in the TOILET because of “role models” like this. I am surprised you DON’T care.”

Why should I care? It doesn’t effect me.

      • Natalie S says:

Society is in the toilet because of people who have actual power. Bella Thorne is a distraction.

There are plenty of sketchy dudes who are famous. Whatever Bella Thorne is, girls need local support systems, not for us to blame famous women for not being role models.

      • indefatigable says:

“Society is in the toilet because of people who have actual power. Bella Thorne is a distraction.”

        This.

      • FLORC says:

        Natalie s
        I love your whole comment.

    • K-Peace says:

I agree with you PSL. This girl is a mess, and I feel very sorry for her. She seems to be heading towards being the next Lindsay Lohan. My daughter is 8, and as she gets older, I want to do all I can to steer her away from admiring these messed-up Instagram-famous young people.

      • psl says:

Thank you. I am not trying to be “mean”, I am just stating the sadness of the role models available to young women these days. I find her life to be sad. Someone said “she is living her best life”. Call me crazy, but her life does not look great to me. She dated Scott Disck, FFS! And she has a serious meth problem. She always looks dirty to me.

        Pass on that, thankyouverymuch.

    • cecond says:

i agree, i feel sorry for her as well and think she’s really lost–what makes you think meth? I thought cocaine but i always think cocaine. not that coke is better but meth legit terrifies me. i don’t think this girl is surrounded by anyone positive in her life; just yes people and other “influencers” and shallow friends. it’s sad.

      • psl says:

Blind Items – revealed ones too.

      • magnoliarose says:

She has the vacant meth look. It is something in their eyes and their mannerisms. Unfortunately, I have seen too many people strung out on different drugs, and each one presents differently but the people using do the same things. Meth users talk nonsensical word salad rambling, and their faces get hard looking fast.

      • Kitten says:

She looks REALLY different in these photos, right? My mind went to meth right away just because of its ability to dramatically alter one’s face.

I actually used to think she was quite pretty but she looks off here…

    • Ain’tNoTelling says:

I’m a former addict and alcoholic. Lot’s of kids look up to me, as they should if they want to. I have totally turned my life around and am of service to the community at large.

What are you doing to help others? Judging them for past mistakes? How nice.

      • CairinaCat says:

Except these are current mistakes. She is actively using.
I sure as hell don’t want my kids seeing that as a role model.

Someone who has made mistakes and then reformed is a entirely different matter.

      • psl says:

You are SOBER now. What does one have to do with other? I have a HUGE amount of respect for people who kick their addictions. You say yourself you turned your life around – why wouldn’t people look up to you? And did you want young people following in your footsteps when you were using?

Your comment makes no sense at all.

      • Isa says:

Bella admitted she was physically and sexually until she was 14 by someone in her home.
I hope she gets the help she needs.

      • psl says:

Isa, I hope she does too. I think her life is very sad.

  4. Nat says:

Instagram is a 24/7 commercial platform. Everything that happens there is meticulously calculated and the worst part is we believe in it 🙁
I used to be an Instagram junkie but I’m so over it and I think we all should be.
We should be able to make our decisions even the most basic ones, based on what WE like and not what Instragram BOTS tell us to like.

    • psl says:

I follow dogs. That’s it. I hate when people post pics of their food, and some of the crap people are trying to sell? Hilarious.

      • Zondie says:

Yeah, my dogs and cat have an Instagram page. We follow other pet pages and the animals even have cyber parties. It’s fun and creative!

      • Zondie says:

@PSL and @KITTEN I’m following your furbabies in IG . So cute!!!

      • BorderMollie says:

I love me some animal Instagram! Corgi accounts ftw!

As for the selling stuff, it can be hard to resist. Not so much on Instagram, but if I see a YouTuber I follow advertising something, I tend to find myself drawn in despite knowing it’s all likely fake. There’s just something glossy and neat about the whole thing that makes it very appealing. I dunno.

      • Kitten says:

Yay Zondie! Will follow back 😀

      • Tiffany :) says:

I’m following your kitties too, Kitten!

I don’t post that much on Instagram, but my boyfriend made a page for our beloved Jack Russell the last year and a half of her life. After she passed, we made her entire Instagram page into a 230 page photo album. It turned out so well, and it makes me feel closer to her to have her photos in my hands (not just on a device).

      • Zondie says:

        My dogs’ account is @bostopug

    • Kitten says:

My cat has an IG page but I do not. My cat follows other cats and the occasional dog. Best IG feed ever.

      • psl says:

My dog has one too, but I do not! hobie8412, if you want to follow!! 🙂

      • Kitten says:

Following! Your Jack Russell is adorbs!
How old is he? He looks like a little pup.

@picklezthescottishfold is my kitty’s page if anyone is interested.

      • Tiffany says:

        @ Kitten

I love Picklez IG page. That cat the IG attitude down pact ;).

      • Meeee says:

Well, since we’re putting our pets’ instagrams…. my dog is @Dexter.moon. we follow back pet related accounts. 🙂

I am allergic to cats, but I love Scottish Folds! They are so cute and smart!

      • magnoliarose says:

I love Kitten’s kitties. I am not on personal social media it just seems to get people in trouble. Especially since this Facebook election fiasco, I am glad. However, I do love to look at pets and animals. Pet accounts are adorable.

      • psl says:

        Ooooh! I will follow!!

Kitten, he is around 5-6 years old. I got him through RussellRescue CA, so not 100% sure. 🙂

      • K-Peace says:

        Kitten,
Your cat is named Picklez? My cat is also named Pickles. (Named by our then-7-yr-old daughter after one of her favorite books.)

      • stinky says:

this_girl_is_a_squirrel and juniperfoxx and blossomtheawesomepossum are my critter go-tos on insta

      • Kitten says:

        @Tiffany-Thank you! ♥

@psl- He is such a little doll! I’ve heard Jack Russells are some of the smartest doggos.

@K-Pearce-YESSSS! People always make fun of me for that name but it suits him perfectly lol.

@Mags-you’re probably smart to avoid it. It’s a bit of a cesspool these days which is why I stick mostly to animal accounts.

@Stinky- WHAT?!?! You have a squirrel, a possum, and a Fox??? That’s amazing! Just followed all of them and they are BEAUTIFUL.

      • Elizabeth says:

Mine is @BrunoMarstheChi if anyone is interested in my tiny old man:)

      • Tiffany :) says:

My dog was a jack russell, too! Her instagram is sydneyisserious. It was so fun to follow other jack russells around the world. Even if they are in France, Russia, Japan, etc. they all have the same adorable faces, vibrant curiosity, and emotional intelligence.

The pet part of the internet is really the most benign place to be. It lacks the negativity that can creep in to other corners of the net!

      • Asiyah says:

Kitten do you follow that Turkish guy who plays piano with his cat? He’s so awesome!

      • psl says:

@Tiffany – I call myself a “JRT slut”. I will seriously pull my car over to meet one, if I see one! Hahahaha

      • Meeee says:

@psl the people I got my dog from said he was a Jack Russell/Dachshund mix. I think it’s more like Boston Terrier/Dachshund. His head is too round.

        P.S. @kitten Thanks for following back. 🙂

      • flan says:

        @Asiyah, what’s his IG name?

      • Asiyah says:

        @flan

Sorry for the late reply. Sarper duman. He’s awesome.

  5. aang says:

I’ve never heard of this person but clicked because it said 12 cats. I might check out her instagram now to look for pics of the cats.

  6. SarahB says:

I…I…I don’t want to live on this planet anymore.

  7. Jess says:

The first live-action show my daughter ever liked was Shake It Up, so I’ve always had a soft spot for Bella and Zendaya. Zendaya has turned into such an incredible young adult and Bella has seemed like a complete train wreck (she won Go Fug Yourself’s March Madness bracket this year), so I’m happy to hear that maybe she knows what she’s doing.

  8. MeowuiRose says:

Dani is her sister I’m pretty sure. She seems like she has some real demons and seeking attention is how she deals with them…plus it makes her bank.

  9. Slowsnow says:

I made it to 3m24 and I had no idea what she was on about.
Except that she seemed exploited by the mother because her sister who appears at some point is not as photogenic; grew up in that (unsupervised HW-Disney sh*t) and knows no other life; did not develop fully; became a post-Kardashian.
    I developed a totally unnecessary second-hand embarrassment.

  10. MellyMel says:

What the what?! So confused…so many questions.

  11. Lara K says:

I have no issue with women (or men) who make a conscious decision to take advantage of the money opportunities available to them. And screw what anyone else thinks.

Cardi B would approve, I think. That’s my new measure of common sense.

    • Slowsnow says:

      Cardi B is talented.

      • Christina says:

        Is she?

      • Slowsnow says:

        @Christina
We can go on for ever, I can say “yes”, you can reply “is she” but reading a bit further, I am saying she does a tiiiiiny bit more than putting on wigs, doodle paint and “being herself” on insta. We tend to forget the hard work it is to put an album out there. It’s not just going into a dressing and choosing a dress and some make-up.

    • OriginalLala says:

Cardi B cloaks herself in the skin of animals who were brutally killed for their fur – she is not a model of common sense.

      • Slowsnow says:

        Does she? Damn. 🙁

      • OriginalLala says:

yep. I wanted to like her, but she is always cloaked in fur..and not faux. so big nope from me.

      • magnoliarose says:

Cruelty coats means I don’t spend money on a celebrity. I can like things about them for gossip sake but I won’t spend a penny on anything they produce. Anything related to animal cruelty or hunters are a hard pass. Exotic animal skins for spoiled idiots is another Nope.
I don’t like Cardi’s music so there really is no sacrifice on my part.

      • K-Peace says:

I refuse to support Cardi B in any way for that exact reason.

      • minx says:

        Yep.

      • flan says:

Ugh, does she? No interest in her then.

    • Babs says:

Cardi B is very talented. I love her album and I don’t care about what she wears.

  12. BitingPanda says:

This is depressing. People are making money hand over fist specifically for walking around looking like hot tragic messes.

The future is Hella bleak, y’all.

    • S says:

      ^^^This

    • psl says:

      It is SO depressing!

    • jetlagged says:

      Welcome to the idiocracy, y’all.

    • Kloops says:

Exactly. But we’re supposed to admire her because she’s monetizing it. I don’t understand that logic. There’s more to life, health and happiness than financial exploitation. It’s hard to believe this is a truly free choice given her childhood, but sure, she could be in far dire straights. I just don’t see this as some inspiring success story when she’s perpetuating shallowness as aspirational for another generation of children.

  13. Kashmir says:

She’s living her best life and I don’t blame her. Whenever I see posts or paparazzi shots of her I just think she’s escaped Disney, she’s free let her live.

  14. AmandaPanda says:

I’m obviously not going to invest 18 minutes into answering this, but I assume this lady has some kind of overwhelming personal charm that mysteriously evaporated when she is written about? Am completely baffled by this.

    • jenna says:

She is the epitome of someone who makes me feel ancient, in a “this is a whole different generation to mine” kind of way, and I’m only in my 20s. I have no idea why she is appealing to people, but clearly it’s working whatever it is.

But I also feel bad for her. She has spoken about being sexually abused throughout her childhood, is publicly estranged from her mother, has been generally hyper-sexual in public for years now, and has had implants and a nose job in recent years. And she has those Kylie Jenner lips too. It’s just all so much at such a young age (she just turned 20), and for all her “whatever, bro, it’s all chill” attitude, I feel like she needs some sort of guidance or help. I feel like she’s carrying around a ton of pain and insecurity.

  15. Bethany F says:

Her house looks like a mess in every photo she posts (clothes and random crap strewn out all across the floor like she has no dressers or cabinets, she’s doodling and painting like a child on all the walls) and now she’s got 12 cats? who lives like this? she seems unwell. this is future hoarder behavior.

“Bitch I’m Bella Thorne” is Mod Sun’s song. had friends at his gig here a few weeks ago and he brought her onstage to perform with him. this is the midwest so she was on tour with him.

  16. gobo says:

    Shades of Lohan here.

  17. lucy2 says:

I listened to an interview with her once (it was after someone else on a podcast) and she mentioned this, that all her money comes from social media. She also seemed pretty shallow and uninteresting, but whatever.
I don’t blame her for making money like this while she can, it’s easy money, but I hope she’s saving for the future because attention is fickle and those deals could dry up quick.
I do blame society for creating a way for that to happen though. Yuck.

    • jenna says:

It already seems like work is drying up in terms of acting. Midnight Sun bombed, a bunch of her horror movies went straight to Netflix, that Freeform show she has just sort of exists, and I believe her part in The Death and Life of John F Donovan was cut (along with Jessica Chastain, who played her older sister). I also think that her entire brand might be a bit too out there for Hollywood. And I’m not sure she’s actually very interesting past the hair and the wardrobe to sustain any sort of avant-garde indie career either.

      • val says:

“Going straight to Netflix” isn’t a thing, or even a bad one. Netflix has a bunch of original series and cult movies that are hits. Her horror stuff is mostly teen campy stuff and it kind of suits her. She’s probably made lucrative $$$ from going straight-to-Netflix.

  18. Tan says:

65k for a freaking grid poat ans 10_20k pro Story!!!!
Why would anyone want to study and work hardnto become doctors, nurses, engineers ajd teachers??

Social media marketing has thrown balance out totally.
Now I realise how lifestyle bloggers have so much time and money and is always buying or getting 500 $ outfits.

  19. Lorelei says:

I actually watched about 3 quarters of the video and honestly this whole thing feels super sad to me. She obviously had serious issues with her mom and her career seems it was mostly forced on her, at least when she was young so no shade and judgement here. I really hope she finds her place as she grows and manages to get past all the sh*t.

  20. Miss Kittles says:

So basically Bella is living my dream!

  21. Penfold says:

I’m glad I grew up before social media. I most likely would have been one of those kids who checked it 100 times a day and didn’t enjoy my own life b/c I was too busy watching other peoples’.

She may be making a ton of money for her posts, but she’s probably not super happy. Sounds like she didn’t have the best childhood.

  22. Ash says:

My husband and I saw Midnight Sun and both really liked it. She gave a good performance and she has talent as a singer. I was surprised since she was so awful on Shake It Up. I can’t help but root for her because it seems her life is a mess and she was used and discarded by many.

  23. Ayra. says:

Listen, I have a soft spot for Bella.
If you know anything about her, is that her mother was one of THOSE Hollywood parents. I have no doubt that all of her money went into her mom’s pockets. She’s been abused and obviously didnt come out unscathed.

And her acting resume is fantastic, she’s actually a pretty good actress (compared to some of the others in the same age group)

  24. Girl_ninja says:

Ugh. I just want ONE cat!

    • Kitten says:

You say that but you need you understand that the first cat is akin to a gateway drug and it only escalates from there. Just look at Bella: she’s at 12 cats already.

Oh and stay away from the Scottish Folds–they are HIGHLY addictive! Should come with a damn warning label smdh…

      • SK says:

I’m a major cat lover and think Scottish folds look adorable, but I read an article about how their genetic trait that makes their ears fold also makes them have painful joints 🙁

She says the cats have a genetic mutation that affects their cartilage which leads to the folding of the ears and an owl-like appearance.

“The cartilage is deformed and it is not supporting the ears,” Ms Ravetz says.

She says the cartilage mutation also leads to problems with other parts of the cat’s body.

“These genetic mutations, which all the Scottish fold cats will have, develop into lifelong incurable and painful diseases such as a type of arthritis.”

  25. Dani says:

If you make it through until the very last minute of the video, one of her orange tabby cats makes a brief cameo jumping on her lap

  26. Lucy says:

…yeah, I’m gonna go ahead and be the one with the unpopular opinion. Whatever her mother put her through is not her fault, she’s actually pretty smart, she seems to always be very nice to her fans whenever they run into her, and (as far as I know), she’s not racist, nor sexist, nor a homophobe. Is she perfect? No. But she’s taking all the bad things people say about her and turning them into something good. Can’t hate on that *shrug*

  27. Mia says:

I liked the last part of her video about closing your eyes and not judging. That is something I am trying to work on myself. You can tell the poor woman has been through a lot in her short life. I hope Bella and Dani continue to support and be there for one another. Lord knows their father can’t as he is dead and their mother is a toxic exploiter

At the end of the video, she asks people to not judge her and in that minute she came across as a striking and vulnerable young women. I think Bella knows her brand isn’t for everyone but she’s a voice for people who find themselves not fitting into a box.

Man, I KNEW I wasn’t the only one who ignored Stories. I wonder why Instagram and Facebook push them so hard? An actual grid photo is worth more than three times as much.
