John Stamos & Caitlin McHugh welcomed son Billy Stamos this weekend

The 24th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards

I actually thought that this already happen, but it didn’t happen until now. John Stamos and his young wife welcomed their first child this weekend. They got a healthy baby boy and they named him Billy Stamos, after John’s late father. John was close to both of his parents. His dad passed away in 1998, and his mom passed away in 2014. My guess is that if they had a girl, they probably would have named her after John’s mother too.

The timeline for John and Caitlin McHugh was pretty fast. They got engaged at Disneyland in October 2017. In December, they announced Caitlin’s pregnancy and they were married in February. Do I think that John proposed to her because she was pregnant? Yes. But I also think he’s very happy right now and that he genuinely loves her, and he’s so happy that he’s now a father (at long last). He’s 54 years old, Caitlin is 32.

Thoughts on the baby name? I don’t mind Billy, but I hope the kid’s legal name is William. On the Instagram, John just calls him Billy so it’s possible that the kid’s legal name is that. Also: thoughts on the baby-announcement IG which doesn’t include the mom??? That move is called The Justin Timberlake.

Congratulations, he’s wanted to have a kid for a long.

    Wish them the best

  2. Cupcake says:

Congrats! This pregnancy has seemed to be all about John so make sense the announcement would be too.

  3. NoShame says:

I get the sense Stamos fell in love with a womb, not a woman.

  4. Tiffany says:

Congrats. Happy, healthy, safe arrival. Can’t wait to for the debut.

Aww, I’m happy for them. The child will clearly grow up to be absolutely gorgeous. I’m with you re: hoping William is on the birth certificate. I am known by everyone I know as my nickname, but it’s nice to have my formal name on real documents.

  6. Birdix says:

The little hand grabbing his finger is so sweet.

  7. FHMom says:

Congrats to them both. I remember back when Full House was on, the Olsen twins adored him. He seems like good dad material. I think the name is sweet, too. I always favor a traditional name over a trendy one, especially one with special meaning.

  8. KB says:

John is Greek so the baby’s name is likely Valilis, which is translated to Billy in English.

I love the picture! I don’t think it’s a JT move. JT clearly can’t handle not being the center of attention ever and I don’t think Stamos is that bad lol I think it’s a sweet pic and totally appropriate. She may not be ready to have her picture taken or posted online anyway. I didn’t want pics of me online for at least a week because I felt so blah physically (even though emotionally I was the happiest I’ve ever been).

I’m with you. I think he was ridiculously happy – and for all we know she told him to go ahead. I think it’s fair to think that she might not want her photo taken (or at least not publicly posted) yet. And it’s not like the announcement was completely skipping over her existence. He said she and the baby are the best parts of him. He clearly adores them both. He just doesn’t have JT vibes.

Yep he acknowledged her in the post. He also posted a pic of him and his dad when he was a baby. I know where John got his looks from. His dad was very handsome.

Who is this man’s stylist? They should be FIRED for his out-dated accessory! Hot things half your age that won’t outshine you professionally are OUT and age-appropriate women with some kind of ambitious intellectual career are IN. As long as they’re also hot. So much more flattering these days. Doesn’t he want everyone to know how smart and interesting he is??

    • Emily says:

Lol. You’re so right. Is she a professor at an Ivy League school? A human right lawyer? Has she been honoured by the Queen of England? No. Well she’s a dumb boring pedestrian who John should “upgrade” in seven to eight years lest be considered not as enlightened as Brad “Don’t impress Shania Twain” Pitt.

      Jokes aside, congratulation to John

Greek tradition is to name after the grandparents. Days of ore, they first burns went to the father. Congrats to them both and yes, I too think he fell in love with the womb. (Spot on)

I wish them all well. Glad to hear a happy, healthy baby, and a name that doesn’t make me grind my teeth.
