Kellyanne Conway admits the obvious: James Comey ‘swung an election’

The reason why Donald Trump is the unhinged lunatic fascist dictator in the White House is because James Comey kneecapped Hillary Clinton just days before Election Day. That’s what I’ve always believed. That’s what many Democrats have always believed. That’s what Hillary Clinton believes. Granted: there were many factors that went into Trump’s electoral win, but Comey’s action was the big one. Deplorables have always tried to explain away Comey’s actions and his effect on the election results, all while making ludicrious, nonsensical arguments. So now, after Comey’s 20/20 interview aired last night, Kellyanne Conway admits the obvious: James Comey swung an election. Conway’s words: “This guy swung an election. He thought the wrong person would win.”

Comey thought Hillary Clinton would win, so he kneecapped her with EMAILS and so Comey thought the wrong person would win… what is this f–king argument they’re even making at this point? Is Kellyanne arguing that Comey thought Hillary Clinton was “the wrong person” so he acted to stop her from winning? Or is Conway arguing that Comey was wrong about Clinton winning and something something deplorable we won Ohio something? Anyway, it’s not important. The important thing is that the president’s senior adviser (or whatever her f–king title is) just admitted on national television that Trump would not have won without James Comey. So there. Something Deplorables and the Pantsuit Nation can agree on: James Comey is a f–king hack.

Now Kellyanne claims she was being sarcastic. Sorry, I’s not fluent in Ghoul.

wow she and sarah sanders need to go away.

  2. NoShame says:

Along with everyone else who hitched their wagon to this traitor, Conway deserves to be banished to Russia or thrown in jail for TREASON. Or as Bob Mueller put it, “conspired with a foreign adversary to defraud the United States.”

She knows what a treasonous sh!tshow this is and every once in awhile throws out some kernel of truth, only to walk it back hours later so she can crawl back into Moscow Donnie’s good graces.

    • holly hobby says:

Her hubby is openly trolling DT on his twitter acct. I really wonder how he can stay married to a traitor.

  3. KiddV says:

I agree he swung the election. And his hubris won’t allow him to admit we’re in this mess because of him. While I’m enjoying the Comey gossip and can’t wait to read the book, it still boils down to two men with huge egos going after each other. Comey being more strategic, Trump acting like a guilty 5 year old.

    • Betsy says:

I am mad at him for July, but the October mess was all the treachery of Chaffetz. Chaffetz isn’t the one who leaked it. Giuliano knew about the emails BEFORE the FBI announced anything; there were elements in the NY field office that had it in for Hillary.

And I’m scarcely the first to point it out, but it wasn’t just Comey: the media softballed Donnie and peddled that butteremails nonsense hard. The GOP has been cheating for decades. The GOP has been suppressing votes forever. And they commit treason. I also think that part of what has me riled about Comey is that he didn’t seem appropriately contrite last night. You were a huge part of this, guy and I can believe that you really thought you were doing the best you could, but COME ON. Own up to it.

      • Marian o keefe says:

The country was split down the middle, pro and contra clinton, pro and contra trump or whoever, as an alternative to clinton and “the establishment” or “the swamp”. I don’t know that the “email story” had a whole lot to do with the election outcome. Do you think pro-Clinton people really cared about those emails to the extent that their vote would have changed as a result of her using private servers or whatever? Or that pro-Clinton voters would have voted for the orange buffoon because of that?

      • Tiffany :) says:

Marian, there were a lot of people who weren’t “pro” either candidate. The stats have shown that there was a small amount of people in the middle who were flexible, and their votes had a great deal of impact in a handful of swing states. The voters that decided late went Trump.

Remember, it was only about 80k votes in 3 states that determined the election.

    • Megan says:

I think Comey , the media, Russia, gerrymandering, purges of voter rolls, and bad judgement calls by Podesta swung the election. It wasn’t just one thing. It was a lot of factors that coalesced into a hideous result: the popular vote winner lost the election.

      • sunshine gold says:

Agree. And I’ll add: longstanding Clinton hate, economic and demographic shifts, and stale, old school campaigning.

    • jwoolman says:

So Comey managed to swing the election by checking the emails and saying they were fine, nothing new?

Comey wouldn’t have done anything until after the election if Giuliani wasn’t already bursting with the “new emails!” nonsense. Comey had promised to keep Congress informed if new evidence surfaced, but was in no hurry because the matter wasn’t important or urgent. He wasn’t re-opening anything but just fulfilling a promise that we all knew about in summer 2016. Congress started the investigation, not the FBI, and Congress never closed it.

Blame Giuliani, the Trumpy FBI agents in NY who colluded with Giuliani, and Chaffetz for releasing Comey’s letter (marked CONFIDENTIAL) with wild spin that was certainly not justified by anything in the letter. Comey was just trying to calm things down.

And anybody who would actually change their vote from Hillary to Trump because of a false accusation that Comey proved was false within a few days – is simply a gullible fool who knew nothing about either candidate or simple logic. Totally uninformed voter, could switch votes any time including while in the voting booth. This is why so much money was spent on extensive disinformation and smear campaigns.

Hillary is grasping at straws if she honestly thinks this was Comey’s fault. I expect better of her.

      • holly hobby says:

Exactly! I want to know who those rogue NY FBI agents were. Comey’s hand was forced. I don’t blame him for this. It was a combination of a lot of things. Whatever it is it brought us Mueller.

  4. Beth says:

It drives me crazy the way she never answers a question. I was watching her on CNN this morning and she shoveled out her bullshit and pivoted the subject like usual

    • Swack says:

Neither does Sara Huckabee Sanders. They all have to be asked the same question 4 or 5 times before an answer is given. It’s like they have no focus.

      • Veronica S. says:

It’s not lack of focus, it’s intentional obfuscation. If they can exhaust you with misdirection, you might stop expecting answers. A good reporter is trained to overcome that.

      • jwoolman says:

Kellyanne is an expert in the Gish Gallop. Yes, there is a Wikipedia entry for that.

      • Swack says:

@jwoolman – I’ll have to look that one up!

      • trumptrickle says:

“so, Kellyanne, the Republicans say that they were elected to get deficits under control, then voted for a tax cut bill that creates bigger deficits than ever, before voting for a balanced budget amendment because they know it’s almost impossible to pass a constitutional amendment, so they’re off the hook. Isn’t this breaking campaign promises?”

(flirty giggle) “But what about Hillary, who took money through the Clinton Foundation from the Saudi Arabians for throwing gays off buildings?”

“…WTF that have to do with anything? What about the deficits?”

(giggle) “Private email server. Also, Whitewater.”

    • Q T Hush says:

      To Beth,
Exactly, Conway gives me a headache. Her responses are equal to the water emptying in a toilet bowl, swishing around wildly but coming to drain after exhausting itself. Notice how KC kept calling Cuomo Christopher and not Chris, like a mom would a child. Love how CNN producers spoke through Chris’ earbud to tell him he’s doing a good job!!! How can she and SHS live with themselves knowing Trump wouldn’t give them the time of day if based on looks alone and not their ability to lie louder than the person asking them questions. She needs to go away now!

  5. nicole says:

That is one hard faced woman, with a personality to match.

  6. aerohead21 says:

I really like how her husband has been talking out about Trump…it makes me wonder what position that puts her in. Loyalty to Trump or loyalty to her family.

    • kNY says:

She was working for Ted Cruz (I think) when she basically called trump out on everything trump stands for – she sees who he is. Then trump hired her and she changed her tune. The fact that her husband is trolling trump on Twitter makes me sure she still feels EXACTLY how she did before she started working for trump, but she knows her current position means money and power. She’s almost like a prostitute – separating herself (ie. how she really feels about trump) from the act (defending him) because it means money. Not that that is noble by any means – but that is how I see her. I don’t think she’s torn about loyalty to trump versus her family. I think she justifies it all by saying, “This is about providing for our family.” Like she’s Jean Valjean with a loaf of bread.

      • Veronica S. says:

That’s kind of insulting to prostitutes, tbh. They’re at least honest about f*cking people for money.

      • Cranberry says:

Both she, her husband and Ted Cruz work for the Koch brothers. It’s not just about landing a better job. They are Koch loyalists. So she just sees herself in the same way as the hypocrite fundamentalist christians and conservatives.

They fully knew Trump was reprehensible and dishonest. Many also knew about his business ethics, and it was very easy for the rest of them to look at his well documented specious business practices and many, ongoing lawsuits to inform their selves. They didn’t and still don’t care!

Trump is the means to get them what they want, the cut backs, the judges, the regulation roll backs, etc. It doesn’t matter all the damage he’s caused, decimation of republican party (only good thing), the corruption and perhaps even treason. As long as this small % gets their agenda enacted and their payout$$, they will do what ever it takes. They are morally and spiritually corrupt to the bone, and ruthless. That’s why they are so good at winning elections and political strategy.

  7. Jillian says:

  8. LP says:

Everyone I see anyone on this administration I think of Roald Dahl’s passage from The Twits about how a person’s looks are affected by their insides- pretty people will look ugly if they have ugliness inside them, and even an unattractive person will look beautiful if they have beautiful things inside. Sure, it’s not necessarily fair to criticize a politican’s looks, and women already get too much of that…but dang, has any group of people ever proved Roald Dahl right more often than these??

    • Betsy says:

      THANK YOU
I have this idea in my head and I’m never sure where it came from, nor could I have put I so eloquently, but I was a big Ronald Dahl fan back in the day and that’s likely where I read it. Some of the best people I know have exteriors that are not so pretty (and I’m hardly one to talk), but the clowns in the Trump White House* really have faces that they’ve earned.

  9. Swack says:

What is wrong with people today? So many spew out nonsense and then come back the next day and have to “explain” what they meant. Do they not THINK about what they are saying? The governor of Kentucky spewed this out the other day:

“I guarantee you somewhere in Kentucky today, a child was sexually assaulted that was left at home because there was nobody there to watch them,” Bevin told reporters Friday. “I guarantee you somewhere today, a child was physically harmed or ingested poison because they were left alone because a single parent didn’t have any money to take care of them.”

And then had to dial back and apologize. People need to heed the rule: “Measure twice, cut once” In other words – think before you doing anything.

    • Betsy says:

Especially when one is being unnecessarily cruel and obviously wrong.

    • Megan says:

Conway accidentally said what she believes. She has to walk it back because Trump is (rightly) paranoid that he is not seen as a legitimate president.

I find the fact that there was bi-partisan revulsion to Bevin’s remarks encouraging. Republicans need to push back on their own when they try to pull a Trump and spew complete and offensive fiction.

  10. NotSoSocialButterfly says:

She’s only saying it now to reduce the Russia focus as the FBI noose gets tighter- AND- if she says this, it opens discussion into the Giuliani/anti-HRC faction of leaking NYFBI. Duplicitous idiot.

  11. happy girl says:

“I’m not fluent in ghoul.” Omg, SOOO good.

I watched her unhinged back-and-forth with Chris Cuomo (CNN) this morning, and she was going to give herself a stroke. What a fucking freak she is (hardly a new observation, but still).

And If possible, she looked more disheveled and beaten-down than ever. I think all her evil-doing is causing her hair to fall out at an alarming rate, and withering/collapsing her face. She looked like a batshit crazy mess. Inside and out.

  12. grabbyhands says:

    Swamp Witch.

I hope Mueller has something to lean on her with because I’d love to see her lose big. I have lost faith that any of these jackasses will actually spend time in jail.

  13. Al says:

Oh FFS! If Comey had not publically announced they had reopened the case because of what they found on Anthony Weiner’s laptop we would be impeaching president Clinton right now. He did the ONLY thing he could do. Unfortunately he did swing the election because Clinton was NARROWLY BEGINNING to win when he made the announcement. That is according to the ONLY poll that accurately predicted the election outcome (USC/LA TIMES). It is far beyond time for Dems to admit that the election was lost because Hillary Clinton was the worst candidate in history! How do we know this? BECAUSE SHE LOST TO DONALD TRUMP! Huma Abedeins complete incompetence in the email scandal should not be overlooked. Comey was the messenger. That’s all.

    • Betsy says:

Hillary Clinton may have lost the election, but she won more votes. That in the face of:
      GOP treason
      Media support for Trump
Billions of dark money for Trump
      GOP vote suppression
A 30 year RWNJ campaign to smear the Clintons
      Sexism

Let’s not pretend she ran some horrible campaign when Frjmpt couldn’t get his butt on straight in the morning. And let’s not forget that there was some hinky as sit that went down. How many states’ voter rolls were hacked?

      • jwoolman says:

Hillary ran a normal campaign in abnormal times. She addressed the issues and had solid proposals. I doubt anyone else would have done better.

The Republicans had a head start smearing Hillary with false accusations, since they hated her ever since she attempted real health care reform in the 1990s. But I’m sure they would have caught up fast with Bernie or Joe Biden. When you don’t feel compelled to tell the truth, it’s really easy to smear anybody. And it’s a plus when your candidate is a lifelong liar and bully who is well known from a tv show. Many people have the illusion that they know people they see on tv.

The media was a major factor because they were constantly distracted by the flamboyant and outrageous Trump and barely reported on anything Hillary said. That’s what happens when the concept of equal time is tossed into the garbage. Entertainment is easy, discussing policy is hard. So entertainment wins.

Even with the media ignoring her and the smear campaigns and even Russian disinformation campaigns and outright theft of private information with spinning — the woman won the popular vote by a wide margin (3 million votes) and Trump’s electoral vote win was based on about 75,000 votes total in a handful of states, tilted even further by a skewed electoral vote allocation which makes urban voters worth two or three times less than rural voters. This 75,000 was well within machine error, but since most machines did not have paper backup the votes could not be checked by a proper recount. And when citizens joined together to pay millions of dollars for recounts in three states, the Trumpy lawyers skipperdeed into court to block those limited recounts.

So Hillary was robbed, but not by Comey. He was forced to tell Congress about the potentially new emails before the election by Giuliani’s gang, Chaffetz publicized his confidential letter while spinning wildly, and even though within a few days Comey pronounced them all to be just copies of emails previously examined when Hillary was cleared before – he still seems to be the favorite fall guy here. What else could he have done to please you folks? He was Director of the FBI, he couldn’t start waving a Hillary for President flag and claiming she was the bestest ever and Trump was the worstest ever (although I’m sure he did think that privately about Trump). He’s being blamed for being as non-partisan as possible and trying not to take sides.

    • Veronica S. says:

“Worst candidate in history” somebody says without irony in a country that has a history of state-backed racism, genocide, imperialism and systemic oppression. 9_9

      • Al says:

Seriously? Unless you think there was a more incompetent, dangerous and treasonous con-man president than dumpster fire, I can’t imagine a worse candidate than the one who lost to him!

      • Veronica S. says:

I think there are a lot of complicated factors that went into Clinton’s loss, with culturally internalized misogyny and racism being the least of them. It’s still a ridiculous statement to make even ignoring the historical precedent given the amount of experience she was bringing to the table.

Donald Trump is a demagogue. He appeals to people because he promises unrealistically easy solutions to complicated issues, and he gives them a scapegoat for their problems when he can’t fix them – i.e. Muslims and immigrants. He plays to their fears of socioeconomic and political obsolescence, of the power dynamics of a fading empire changing with its demographics. It’s the same playbook that Hitler used to get himself into office. It’s not remarkable. It’s not even original. It works because people are desperate and disenfranchised and angry, and they can’t use that anger to affect change against those that are really the source of their problems. Putting a face on the abstract (“Mexicans are stealing your jobs!” “Brown people want to replace white America!!” “Muslims want to destroy Christian society!!”) gives them the illusion of control and power.

Anybody who has read a history book could have seen this coming. It was never a matter of who the candidate running against him was so much as the circumstances surrounding the actual election. Donald Trump IS America and all the ugly, scared, and awful parts of it. Seeing him in office gives a lot of people a lot of comfort in continuing the pretense that they’re decent people.

      • hmmm says:

        @Al

Oh, that’s just silly. But then, false equivalence always is.

      • jwoolman says:

AL – look at the numbers. I’m not so sure Hillary actually lost. We’ve seen signs of selective vote shifting by those machines since huge numbers were installed after the 2000 election – Republican-made machines that are far more vulnerable than non-techies tend to realize. Vote-shifting software can be very simple programs – I haven’t written a computer program in decades (unless you count some large macros) and even I could do it. The machines don’t have to be connected to the net to be contaminated with malware. The technology for remote manipulation is advancing daily. We can even take pictures of people inside windowless vans at a distance now.

Any sane country would have insisted on hand recounts with an electoral vote win based on a difference of 75,000 votes total, especially when the alleged loser won three
million more votes than the alleged winner. We didn’t do that because 1) most of those damned machines don’t have paper backup to recount and 2) the Republicans busily blocked requested recounts. Now ask yourself – why would the winner block a recount if everything was on the level?

If we don’t fix this serious vote count problem by insisting on paper backup and mandatory recounts – it won’t matter how many people mad at Trump and the Republicans go to the polls in November midterms. The Democrats will have to win really big to outrun the hackers. I think Obama managed to do just that in 2008 and 2012, and Hillary came close in 2016. But the stakes are much higher now and the bad dudes will be pulling out all the stops this time.

    • 504 says:

      okay bro

    • Tiffany :) says:

Why would you think that Clinton would be impeached for what was found on the Weiner computer? They were emails that her aide had sent to herself in order to print them. It didn’t implicate Clinton in any illegal wrong doing.

You sound like Russian-Troll to me, in all honesty.

  14. jwoolman says:

So we’re supposed to believe Kellyanne “Alternative Facts” Conway now?!?

  15. BitingPanda says:

I am fluent in sarcasm, it is the language of my people. That was not sarcasm.

  16. holly hobby says:

One thing that gets lost pretty frequently was that he issued that letter because he was under pressure from rogue NY FBI pro-DT agents (working in conjunction with good ole Rudy G). Those agents were going to leak those emails if he did not issue a letter. Yes his hand was forced. Do I think it’s the right thing to do? I really don’t know.

However no one is talking about those agents. I want those jerks unmasked.

  17. Vava says:

I don’t think Comey swung the election. It was a combination of factors. I DO love the fact that Kelly Anne looks like the Crypt Keeper, though. Perfect! (Although the Crypt Keeper was more likeable.)
