Two years ago, if you had asked me for my thoughts on Ariana Grande, I would have told you that she’s a brat and a wannabe diva who throws tantrums over licking donuts. But last year, the European leg of Ariana Grande’s world tour came to Manchester. When the concert ended and people were leaving the arena, terrorists set off two bombs. People – many of them children – were killed, maimed and injured. Ariana was broken. She was devastated that the little girls and young women who make up her fanbase were targeted by terrorists. She picked herself up though – she organized the One Manchester Concert in a matter of days, a concert that was a celebration of girls, girl culture and Manchester. She visited the victims of the bombing in the hospital. She reached out to the families of the victims. She later did what she could to salvage what was left of her tour with professionalism, and then she went dark, needing time to process everything that happened.
Her actions and the way she conducted herself in the wake of the terrorist attack made me a big fan: she showed a great deal of grace, bravery, compassion, heart and humanity. I believe that she’s a changed woman now. And now she has new music. She began teasing her new album this week, and she released the first single at midnight. The song is NOT a ballad. It’s not weepy at all. It’s kind of a banger? It’s called “No Tears Left To Cry.”
I don’t hate this? It’s not the best thing I’ve ever heard, but I think it’s interesting that she released what amounts to a relatively simple dance-pop song rather than a weepy ballad. I’m reminded of the Manchester parents who wrote to Ariana following the terrorist attack, those parents who told her that what happened wasn’t on her, that she should find a way to keep making her fun pop music because that would be the best way to deal with this tragedy: with lightness, with fun, with dancing. She listened to them.
"No Tears Left To Cry" by @ArianaGrande is currently charting in 74 iTunes regions and No. 1 in 41 countries!#NoTearsLeftToCry pic.twitter.com/W1RhjEmqOQ

I hope she’s learned how to enunciate her words when she sings. She sounds like a mumble-mouthed mess and I can barely understand what she is singing 90% of the time.
She is horrible with her consonants.
Dangerous Woman was a solid, sometimes great album (‘Knew Better/Forever Boy’, repeat play non-stop).
This song is meh but I’ll be there for the album.
So true. Never know what she’s singing.
I don’t like Ariana, because her enunciation is absolutely terrible. And she is a good singer, but her obsession with trying to show owe her high notes (same with Demi Lovato) makes enjoying their songs veru difficult.
I wish she would sing clearly
Don’t hate it but don’t particulary love it either, it has kind of a vintage vibe though.
She grew on me after the Manchester attacks, I hope she has matured and will put out great music, after all her voice is amazing (kinda reminds me of Christina Aguilera).
i think she could be really amazing but she sings like her tongue was stung by a bee
when she does imitations, it is much better so i know she can do it
I appreciate and admire how she’s conducted herself in the last year or so. She showed kindness, generosity and grace in dealing with an atrocious tragedy. There’s no doubt that she struggled with what happened and like you said, really seems to have taken the time to reflect on everything.
That said, I’m not a fan of her music at all. I CAN NOT stand how she sings. She has great vocals but if I can’t understand one out of every three words someone sings, it just seems pointless.
Yes, totally agree, she conducted herself well in this terrible tragedy. And I admire her for that. But I can’t get behind her music.
I’ve listened to it 5 times, and I still can’t remember it. Doesn’t help that you can only make out a word here or there.
She handled the terrorist attack brilliantly, but otherwise I really don’t get why she’s a thing. She can sing, but all her music is so bland and forgettable. Even people like Selena and Camilla are trying to make somewhat interesting pop.
Ariana’s music is so much better than Selena and Camila’s. Dangerous Woman was a legit fantastic pop album, not to mention that she can sing circles around both of them.
The song is ok, but I like the video. Mainly, I’m just glad Ariana is back with new music.
I cannot understand a majority of her new song.
I liked the song and the video 💕
She looks like she tweaked her face as well.
Meh. Still not a fan. Agree with the enunciation bit, as she actually does have a nice voice. I applaud her actions after the attack, but still see her as the same entitled brat, who makes people carry her around, though.
You are too cute with this story but I can’t stand her!!
I cannot understand 90% of her lyrics. I used to have the same problem with a lot of Janet Jackson’s songs.
Agreed on everything you wrote. I truly believe that tragedy changed her for the best. Also, on a superficial note, I’m digging the low ponytail!
I loved the Dangerous Woman album and I’m a thirty year old gay man! #sorrynotsorry
This video gives me Upside Down vibes. Not a great movie but visually it’s stunning.
It’s a basic pop song… pretty forgettable.
…Im impressed by the 3 mil likes…even Kim K only get 1mil & thats when she shows her family rather than plugging her products…
