Jenny McCarthy & Donnie Wahlberg dote on their 3 dogs, call them their babies

Our babies.

Is anyone else surprised that Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg are still together after five years? I just searched on them in our archives and the first article we published on them was in July, 2013. So they’ve been together for five years and have been married for four. I could have sworn it wasn’t that long. They don’t have any kids together, but Jenny has a son who is 16, Evan, Donnie has sons aged 25 and 16, and they have three dogs, at least one of which they adopted together. They call the dogs their “babies.” Some people think that’s stupid or offensive, but I find it cute. (Sidenote: There’s a scene in an awesome indie movie called Little Sister in which a couple at a party describe their dogs as if they’re children and you don’t get the joke until the end.)

US Weekly had a whole story about it, centered around the fact that Jenny posted that cute photo, above, of Donnie with two of their little dogs. Apparently she convinced him to adopt one of the dogs by saying it could be “their baby.” Look at those little faces! I want to smoosh them.

The married couple of almost four years have a full house with their three dogs — Wahlberg’s beloved French bulldog Lumpy, a black shih tzu named Gunner and an adorable pooch named DJ.

“You know, Jenny and I … we have these stories come out every few months that we’re having a baby. We would love to have a baby but we have three boys already together. We’ve having fun together,” the Saw II alum recalled. “So … she said, ‘I want this dog, I want this dog, it’ll be our baby.’”

“I said, no dog, especially a little dog like that … I like brut-ish dogs. So she started sayin’, you know, that can be our baby. I was like, ehhhhh,” he continued. “And she was like, ‘We can name it DJ for Donnie and Jenny’ and I was like, “Oh my god, fine, get the dog.”

[From Us Weekly]

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that they have three human sons between them and also three dogs. This is just an excuse to post dog photos. There are so many annoying things about Jenny and Donnie, but this is endearing. I have a feeling that if they ever break up they’re going to be fighting over dog custody more than money.

Happy Halloween!!! Love, Lumpy. ❤️🌭

Also, Jenny got rid of that awful blue hair and went back to blonde. Good.

    Dogs are amazing. I approve.

    • Sabrine says:

What’s the problem? My son has a chihuahua cross and I refer to her as “the baby” every time I see her. She’s so cute and baby size.

  2. Veronica S. says:

Maybe they can use some of that money to dote on patients whose lives have been damaged by her anti-vaccine nonsense.

    • Peeking in says:

      Maybe.
I find dogs just as worthy of money being spent on them as humans, maybe even more, since they can’t care for themselves properly.

      • Veronica S. says:

I don’t even know where to start with this response, to be honest.

      • Peeking in says:

It’s ok if you find my response ludicrous. I can’t stand Jennie M, but if people are stupid enough to follow a third rate actress’ advice when it come to vaccinating their children, that’s on them.
        Spoiled pups all day, everyday!

    • Jordan says:

Every time I see her all I can think of are those Facebook posts of parents lying to their doctors and then asking their fb friends for help.

  3. Cynical Ann says:

I’ve never been a dog person (and 2 of my kids were afraid of them)-but we got a puppy a year and a half ago and we’re all crazy about her. My kids now fight over whose bedroom she should sleep in at night and anytime we’re away from her we all discuss how much we miss her. So I am now officially a dog person-so I totally get this!

  4. Ehh says:

We have two dogs and have always referred to them as our babies. It may have confused our son (who is an only child) though, because when he was in K, he told his teacher he had a brother and a sister. Took her some time to figure out he was talking about dogs, and not actual human siblings. 😂

  5. Lexilla says:

“The Saw II alum…” 😂 He’ll always be a New Kid to me. Yes I’m old.

  6. Jordan says:

Does she still believe vaccines cause autism?

  7. Anastasia says:

God, I love dogs. We have three dogs, too. (And an adult child.) They are TRULY our babies. I get this.

    (Still don’t like Jenny.)

  8. Laura says:

I am childfree by choice but my two chihuahuas are my “babies” 🐶 I receive unconditional love from them and they light up my life in so many ways 💕

  9. MamaHoneyBadger says:

I’ve had dogs, and I have a child. If I were to detail my kid’s activities, eating habits, and pediatric visits to the degree that some friends do with their dogs, I’d be shunned. And deservedly so. Yet I’m supposed to keep politely quiet when others drone on about their dogs’ diarrhea? (Seriously, one friend had a “solid poop watch” going on Facebook.) In short, some perspective would be nice.

  10. BitingPanda says:

I wonder if she chooses to make sure her dogs have the proper vaccinations?

  11. JoJo says:

    Get the BLOW-AH!

I’m no superfan of the Wahlbergs, but I’ll give him props purely for being loud and proud with his Boston accent. lol.

  12. frankly says:

I’m rewatching the original Will and Grace series and there’s a scene in one of the very first episodes where two couples go on and on at their game night about what you think are their kids but are, in fact, their dogs.
(Then Will and Grace get a dog. And then I think they give the dog to Jack, because they only really needed that plot point for one episode.)

  13. jferber says:

The pic of the dog as the enchilada is killing me (in a good way).
