Taylor Swift invited 2000 foster & adoptive families to watch her tour dress rehearsal

A post shared by Taylor Swift (@taylorswift) on

Taylor Swift’s Reputation Tour kicks off, officially, tomorrow. She’s been in rehearsals for the tour for months. It will probably be her biggest “extravaganza” tour ever, but the tickets aren’t really selling at the steady clip we’ve seen from her previous tours. While I think that was one small part of the motivation for this story, I also think that Taylor just has a very charitable heart and she does a lot of really cool things for kids and for her fans. As it turns out, Taylor invited 2000 foster and adoptive families to her first big dress rehearsal performance over the weekend:

Now that’s one majorly awesome final dress rehearsal! Taylor Swift opened up her big heart once again and brought in foster and adoptive families to the University of Phoenix stadium to see the final dress rehearsal and have a pizza party before her highly anticipated Reputation tour kicks off on Tuesday night in Glendale, AZ. E! News can report that the “Look What You Made Me Do” singer performed for over 2000 foster and adoptive families.

A concert attendee told E! News that after the show ended, Taylor brought everyone onstage to take pics. She also stayed for almost four hours taking pictures and meeting all the families.

Concert goer Kellie Dillon told E! News, “We received an email a few days ago through an organization called AZAFAP (Arizona Association of Foster and Adoptive Parents). They help organize events and extra-curricular things for foster kids and foster families. They released 2,000 tickets and everyone thought it was a scam at first….We thought it was too good to be true, but we all kept it a secret (per Taylor’s orders) and sure enough had the time of our lives!”

“My family and I have been fostering for over three years and have adopted too,” the mom continued. “I don’t think Taylor understand what this meant to these foster and adoptive families! Some of these children have been through terrible journeys in their lifetime, so to me able to escape for an incredible evening like that was out of this world! She was so genuine and we truly felt like we were hanging out with a friend and had a pizza party at the end of the night. A magical evening we will never forget.”

[From E! News]

It’s extremely cool that she did that. I hope the kids and their parents had a great time. In addition to that, Taylor also stopped by the Arizona Burn Center this weekend to spend time with an 8-year-old member of the Snake Fam. Isabella McCune was in a terrible accident in March and she suffered some severe burning, and Taylor went to see her after McCune sent her a video.

With Kanye’s Deplorable meltdown, Taylor is smelling like a rose, isn’t she? Unfortunately, the start of her tour means we won’t be seeing her at the Met Gala tonight. I’m sad about that!

I want your midnights… 4 days til Reputation Stadium Tour 💕

There is a lot I don’t like about TS but it’s one thing we can’t critize, she does a lot for charity and does nice things for people.

  2. Ehh says:

This is very sweet. Whatever her faults, she has proven herself to be charitable, and I really don’t believe she does it for publicity or any other hidden motive.

  3. Case says:

She really goes above and beyond for her fans. I think she has a good heart and a lot of positive qualities. I mean, she is wildly overdramatic and calculating, but not a bad person by any stretch.

  4. ValiantlyVarnished says:

Uhhh no Kaiser even with Kanye’s crazy behavory Taylor does not come out smelling like a rose. They can BOTH be a**holes.

    • Rose says:

how is she an asshole? She did a lovely thing for her fans and it probably meant the world to them .
She doesn’t deserve the crap she gets for such minor things or how she used to present her dating life .

      • ValiantlyVarnished says:

No where in my comment did I even MENTION what she did for her fans. My comment was very obviously a reply to what Kaiser wrote comparing her and Kanye’s recent behavior. Which personally I think is silly considering that Taylor’s past lying and publicly throwing someone under the bus doesn’t get swept away when said person acts crazy. One has nothing to do with the other. What Taylor did was nice for her fans I’m not disputing that. But for me this doesn’t change my opinion of her.

      • Red says:

Yes, thank you. I’ve seen a lot of Taylor fans say that Taylor has been redeemed now that Kanye said what he did. Nope, both can be problematic. One does not cancel out the other.

@Rose, we are not talking about what she did for these kids. This was amazing of her. Still does not cancel out the crappy things she has done previously.

    • Nicole says:

Exactly. Kanye’s behavior never erases her own. Just like her behavior does not effect how I view him either.

    • ValiantlyVarnished says:

@Red thank you for getting it. One person’s bad behavior doesnt cancel out another’s.

    • noway says:

One person’s behavior doesn’t cancel another, but maybe Kaiser meant in the terms of celebrity PR, gossip, whatever you want to call it Taylor’s very good and charitable deed here may be helping her image from some past misdeeds, while Kanye’s crazy is just adding to his narrative. Also, it you were at all ambivalent about the Taylor/Kanye feud maybe you didn’t really believe some of Kim K. and Kanye’s info, Kanye going over the deep end again doesn’t make him a credible source for any information against anyone. Also, you are all kidding yourself since Kanye jumped on the stage during Taylor’s award these two will forever be linked and compared to each other.

    • Wigs says:

I think Taylor did fuck up alot but I don’t think what she’s done is comparable to Kanye. Taylor never came out and said something as stupid as slavery was a choice. She’s been private about her politics which you can criticize her for but it’s stupid as hell to think these two are at all comparable.

      • so cool says:

Well Tay tay said some some stupid things about feminism, what shows that she know zero about it. For example that feminism is when women are as good as men (as it is some ideal). And she will never said anything political or gave any opinion at all, so we don’t know what she thinks. She has mentality of 14 yo, so maybe she has 0 political opinions. We only know she loves to suing people 🙂

  5. Rose says:

Aww I love her so much , she really is good to her fans.
I’m probably the only one her who is a huge fan , I met her at a secret session and it was amazing. I’ll always support her .

    • Happy21 says:

I’m a big fan as well 🙂 I got your back, lol!

    • GreenTurtle says:

Nah, I’m a TS fan, too. I’m not diehard, but I enjoy her music and am fond of her. I’m OLD, and I’ve been following her since she broke out in country radio, lol.

  6. tonetest says:

She always seems to do these big public acts of charity when there’s a scandal or a negative story coming out about her. Is there a story coming or is this to distract from the poor ticket sales? That’s not to say that this isn’t a very nice thing that these kids will remember for the rest of their lives, for sure, but this woman is never kind in a way that is not self serving once you scratch the surface. It is her armor against valid criticism and the lynch pin of her personal cult.

    • Betsy says:

News of her doing stuff like this squeaks out sometimes from the recipients. She regularly visits children’s hospitals and similar stuff, so it’s not like she only does this occasionally and for publicity.

      • Rose says:

Yeah she’s always doing this kinda thing and has done so from the beginning of her career.

    • Annabelle Bronstein says:

This is one of the most cynical takes I have read on here, and is also likely untrue. An event of this magnitude takes a ton of planning, even for Taylor Swift. It was likely planned for months, and there’s no way she could know what the news cycle would be the day before her tour begins.

Plus, you raise a more salient point: is a charitable act ever truly benevolent? Many argue no, because a charitable person is at least acting because it makes them feel good, which is technically a selfish desire.

    • mags says:

Bingo. She had a story making fun of her and her tour is not sold out. So, she is doing this to distract.

Do your charity in private and I would be more impressed.

    • Missmarirose says:

Hard to say… I don’t know about the foster kids event but the local paper has been tweeting at her for a couple of weeks on behalf of the little girl at the burn center. So at least part of it had more to do with a campaign to help that fan than anything else.

    • Shannon says:

Errr … you can say what you want about her, but her track record in doing stuff like this is pretty strong. As someone else mentioned, this wasn’t something that was done overnight. It took a lot of planning.

  7. Snowflake says:

    That is so sweet!

  8. KeWest says:

What a kind and generous thing to do.

  9. Rumi says:

If the guests were happy and enjoyed themselves then it’s fine. Surprised today alot of random gossip yet nothing on childish Gambino who came out with extraordinary artwork yesterday. It was trending all over the world except US. Must watch This is America. I am in awe.

  10. DP says:

    Glad to hear this!
I’m fact, Taylor being charitable makes me feel better about buying overpriced tickets for my family! 😉

    • noway says:

I know seriously concert tickets of all type of acts have gotten so expensive.

  11. lucy2 says:

Aside from anything else, she is charitable and generous, with both her time and her money. Spending 4 hours to take photos with everyone is really above and beyond, especially as she’s prepping a big show.

  12. SlightlyAnonny says:

Not a Taylor fan but I kinda feel like she was unfairly smeared with the Kanye/Kim video thing? Yes, she 10000% played up her status of favorite victim BUT there is a big difference between the line “we might still be friends” and “we might still have sex.” And if it were me, it would feel like a bait-and-switch. You got my approval (which you didn’t need) for a fairly innocuous line and then added something not quite so innocuous and want to say I approved it. Everyone involved is an awful person but Taylor might be the least awful?

    • Lightpurple says:

And we heard less than 2 heavily edited minutes of what was supposedly an hour long phone conversation. We have no idea what else was said. They could have plotted a whole enemy scenario or talked about the weather or she could have withdrawn any approval. We don’t know and neither does anyone who wasn’t part of that conversation

    • Nicole says:

Yea no. Miss “i’m an Aryan Princess snake” is just as awful if not more. When you play into the “poor white girl being bullied by the big black guy” mentality you know exactly what you’re doing. She played into that for years. That alone is enough for me to cancel her forever

      • Lola says:

Are you erasing history? Kanye has been obsessed with her for years.

Hes the one who went up on stage and interrupted her, hes the one who said ‘she owes me sex’, hes the one who called her, hes the one who taped it, him and his wife are the ones who edited the tape and posted it online, hes the one who put her naked image in a video next to abusers. And hes the one who just last week was blaming taylor for his radio failure.

Taylor is definitely not perfect but if she wants to call out kanye on his behavior she has the right to. Its completely deserved.

      • K-Peace says:

I agree with Nicole. Her treatment of & attitude toward Kanye is one of the main reasons I can’t stand her. Acting like the poor little innocent pure victim of the “big bad scary black man”.–Inexcusable. That and her refusal to make a simple statement against Nazis/racism is another huge reason. (And suing her own fans, and using a phrase commonly spoken by abusers in one of her latest singles, …)

      • noway says:

I see your point, but I’m not sure Kanye is obsessed with Taylor. I think he is obsessed with her success. He had no idea who she was when he started this, and when he did understand her popularity he was intrigued. A part of me still feels sorry for Kanye because of his mother’s death. I think he has had mental illness episodes since then, and now that he is with the Kardashian clan where publicity is their life he is in a really bad place.

      • Nanny to the rescue says:

@norway: What is the difference between him being obsessed with her as a person and being obsessed with her success? The result is the same – he’s unwell and she’s the target.

      • Lightpurple says:

While all that may be valid, it doesn’t make that tape evidence of anything other than they had a phone conversation and somebody played with an editing machine.

      • Nicole says:

Not erasing history at all. I thought Kanye was an @$$ to her when that happened. Havent been a huge fan since.
That does not erase the fact that she used this for PR for YEARS even after she forgave him with that stupid song
The fact that she cannot do a simple thing like denounce Nazis
The fact that she wanted to drag kanye in her speech knowing that she lied about it (don’t care if you think it was edited she denied that call ever took place in the beginning)
The fact that taylor consistently wants to make something about her when in reality it is not (see Nicki Manaj)
The fact that she used feminism as a brand when she is anything but.

I could go on but seriously she’s not a good person. No kanye rant is going to change that

      • lightpurple says:

Pretty sure I never said she was a good person. In fact, I know I never said it. I cannot stand the woman. I also said your points may be valid. My statement that the “tape” proves nothing is based upon my years of experience dealing with legal evidence in the forms of videos and sound recordings. I do not “think” the thing was edited, I know it was. The sounds of the splices, very bad splices, are clearly audible. We have no idea whether she retracted her “consent” or whether she went on to say: ” and while you’re at it, make a nude statue of me and put it in a bed with you and a bunch of rapists and batterers, with their bits covered and mine exposed and make a fantasy rape video too!” (We do know Amber Rose, George W. Bush never consented to any of it.) Kim Kardashian doesn’t know either because she wasn’t there, she just saw an opportunity to use it to promote her own show, seven months after her husband supposedly suffered such a big hurt over it all. The only neutral person who knows is Rick Rubin. Rubin hasn’t defended Swift but, and this is telling, he also has not defended West. We take our victims as we find them. West has nobody but himself to blame for what ensued because he chose to put his drunken ass on that stage that night.

      • mags says:

In the court of public opinion, the tapes did mean something. her reputation was severely damaged because of it and she practically went into hiding for a year which is unusual for her. Of course, that didn’t stop her from spreading out her pretend private showmance with her latest victim.

    • Jenn says:

I totally agree and I can’t help but love Kanye(yep even now). I’ll never be a Taylor fan mainly because her music isn’t my style but people acting like she lied, I was always like really? Just cos she told him “yah I’m cool with anything”,( after they’d made up) , to me, doesn’t include being called a b-word who he “made famous”. It just shows a betrayal on Kanye’s part.
He has issues and imo he’s 10 x worse since getting into the Kardashian family. I still think he’s talented and smart as hell though. Just crazy.

  13. Jess... says:

Most of the stadium dates have sold over 90/95% of their tickets so far so her tour is actually doing really well

  14. tonetest says:

It was widely reported that this tour has underperformed in terms of ticket sales. She is still making big money from the high prices and verified fan scam (buy 20 copies of the album for 637474th place in line!) but nothing sold out in minutes like her previous tours.

    • so cool says:

This. So some PR stunt with childern is so on pint now. It will show how childfriendly she is, so parnets will buy her tickets. People please it is PR like always with celebs. She can like this childern, but the point is to sold more tickets. She is so desperate now that she is giving tickets for free (a lot). I wonder how Sifties fell now, when they spend 800 and more money on ticket.

  15. jammypants says:

Even if it’s for publicity, it’s for a good thing. No judgment from me.

  16. Mads says:

Clearly calculated to get more attention and sales. All her charity work is timed to benefit her and publicized. I would be more impressed to not hear of it and be surprised by it later. Not a Kim Kardashian’s fan but did not know she spent a lot of time at hospitals. She doesn’t brag about it on her reality show.

    • K2 says:

In fairness, she gave $250,000 to Kesha, a good year before Me Too kicked off, and when there was a lot of umming and ahhing about the rights and wrongs with Dr Luke. That money meant Kesha could afford her legal bills, and as it’s not a charitable donation, it won’t have been deductible either. And she did it in private, from memory – Kesha’s mom told people it had happened, and then Kesha’s reps confirmed it. Kesha also said Swift was literally the one person who would always, always take her calls, no matter what, and always made time to listen and support her. So she helped every which way, emotionally and financially.

That’s a good deed without any value to her personally that I can see. And I don’t care how rich someone is, that’s a massive chunk of money to just hand over to someone.

Taylor’s really problematic in a lot of ways, there’s no denying it. But I think most people are seriously confusingly complicated in general, and she can have a huge heart and be immensely kind on a personal level, while still being manipulative and ruthless in other ways. Acknowledging the good stuff doesn’t mean you have to be blind to the bad.

      • mags says:

You are assuming that snake emoji had no hand in us knowing this information.

      • K2 says:

You’re assuming that this information would have been seen as a positive at a time when an awful lot of people automatically assumed women alleging abuse were probably lying. This was a couple of years ago, and the claims were made that Kesha was just throwing shade to get out of her contract. Claims many chose to believe. Swift chose to give quarter of a million of her own cash, instead.

And the reality is, that’s a huge amount of money, and it didn’t go to starving kittens or abused orphans, where the optics would always play well. It went to a woman alleging abuse about a more powerful man.

You don’t have to like the woman much. I’m not sure I do either. But she has done some genuinely good things, too.

      • mags says:

I’m assuming nothing of the sort. You don’t need a metoo movement to think that a women shouldn’t have to work with a guy who sexually harrassed/assulted her.

      • K2 says:

What? Yes of course you need a Me Too movement to think that a woman who alleges assault and harassment is telling the truth (and deserves legal protection against fulfilling her contractual obligations), even when he flatly denies it and says it’s a ploy. This is, quite literally, exactly why we need Me Too: because women are assumed to be lying, while men are assumed to be innocent without a criminal conviction that says otherwise.

Swift did a good thing here. That’s just a fact.

I’m no Swift fan. She dated a 17 year old not too long ago, which would be seen as really shady if she were a male star, and she’s been extremely silent on calling out her Nazi fans. But I don’t see why it’s impossible to recognise the good things people do, even when problematic. Otherwise, it’s just reverse stanning. There’s a ton of solid reasons to think she’s shady, without denying the aspects where she’s done good. It doesn’t make a case stronger if you don’t acknowledge the evidence the other way; in fact the opposite.

      • mags says:

I don’t know about you, but I believed women before it became the thing to do. So my comment still stands.

And why someone does something, even for charity, matters. It speaks to the sincerity of the action. My comment still stands there too.

      • K2 says:

You think Me Too is irrelevant in discussing societal attitudes to women and abuse, because you personally believed women before? Okay then. Thanks for that, um, clarification.

  17. so cool says:

Poor Kids must listen to this s * it. They have tough life? I bet Tay Tay announce her songs like – now I will sing about people who are mean to me, then 10 songs about my mean, bad ex BF, then 5 about how hard is life of pop star and then 30 songs about me – poor and inocent victim of a cruel world. She may like this kids, but people please – it is all a part of PR plan of her team. She will start her tour soon, she didn;t sell even one concert, she is giving tickets for free and this young kinds are her target. Her music isn’t for kids anymore, but she knew that this PR will bring her mney of parents. It is so simple. And Swifties please stop with 90-95% tickets sold – they sold a lot tickets to another ticket agencies and they count it as SOLD. So agenies tries now to sell this tickets to people. So this is rather a fake news about her sell. Last year TS people said that it will be the biggest tour in history. Now they estimate it 200mln lower that in 2017. It is very low when you think that she has much bigger venues and much higher prices that 1989 tour.

    • mags says:

There are a lot of swifties and shills on the boards today. Last big media push. First the stan story pushed to all major outlets and then this. Yawn. She is so obvious.

      • so cool says:

Right. CNN etc. wrote about S. Stan like it was such a hot news. It was so obvious it was her push for tour. He RS with Joe isn’t, so she needs too push HS story again. Do you know that she name shops on her tour “getaway shops” and referred to Getaway Car song on twitter. I bet she will public GC video as soon as her tour start. And this children is PR as always – children, hospital, send flowers, repeat. She tried to move to adult audience with Reputation, bad girl look, but fall hard (0 songs was a hit). So she sang about drinking and having sex with her BF. Now she is again sweet Tay Tay from neighborhood, so childfriendly. She is so obvious. And it is so pathetic. She is almost 30 and still sing for kids and immature woman with cheerleader high school complex.

  18. so cool says:

Well a lot of actors spend hours on taking photos etc. with fans. She isn’t special. Her ex Hiddles could spend few hours with fans on every event. Don;t make some hero of her.

    • mags says:

he did at press events. He want to areas and signed for every single fan and there was no public mention of it except comments from people on twitter. he does a lot of charity work we don’t hear about till later. This is impressive. These publicity releases of how great and charitable the great big-hearted swift is are all designed for public reaction. Just do it in private and shut up about it. How hard is that? If she is this charitable, then that shouldn’t be a hardship.

      • so cool says:

This. There are so many celebs, who did 10000% more charity work than Snake and we know nothing about it. Only after George Michael death we heard that he gave millions on charity and work daily on some homless shelters. Lets be real Snake do charity, but everone must know about it (not form her, it would look to obvious).

  19. Wigs says:

This was really nice of her, Taylor is actually really good to her fans which is endearing because not all celebs are.

  20. Mylene - Montreal says:

    beautiful
