What is going on??? Can we just make the 2016 presidential election null and void already and start over?
( any government experts on here that could tell me if that’s a real possibility? Or just wishful thinking)

    • The Other Katherine says:

It’s not, but I wish to all the gods I don’t believe in that it was.

      • Lorelei says:

I don’t want to sound stupid, but I honestly don’t understand how it’s not possible given the fact that we KNOW Russia interfered. It was not a valid election and he is not a real president! 😒

      • The Other Katherine says:

There’s no provision in the Constitution for do-over elections. For presidential elections, the failsafe is supposed to be the electoral college. Even if there was massive fraud and rigging of the popular vote, the electoral college members (electors) still voted the way that they voted, and no one is seriously suggesting that the votes of the electors were miscounted, as they’re all a matter of public record. If a president takes office off the back of assorted election-related crimes, you have to impeach, go through the succession process, and then hold the next presidential election as scheduled.

It all sucks and is enraging, but there’s no legal mechanism to simply nullify the result of the 2016 election even if the result came about through cheating. We have to throw the cheaters out, fix the system, and do better. This in-between period feels like dystopian insanity, though.

      • Tiffany :) says:

To provide comfort….can you IMAGINE the commercials the next democratic presidential candidate will be able to use? There is just so much material available.

    • Nadia says:

It appears Cohen was selling access to trump.

This truly is the most insane reality.

  2. Kitten says:

I’m so effin sick of MSM. The only thing that they’re covering right now are the three NK hostages that were released (two captured under Trump’s watch) and little-to-no coverage of Essential Consultants and the pay-to-play scheme. I mean, Trump is already tweeting about the three hostages because it’s great PR for him and excites his psychotic base. There is NO NEED for every single news outlet to be covering *official white house news* via Twitter when there are huge stories that will not be acknowledged by the Predator-in-Chief or his GOP sycophants. Gah! DO YOUR JOB!! Report on the incessant corruption, the indelible STAIN that this administration is leaving on the Oval Office, this country’s legacy and our international standing.

In other news, I’m having fun trolling all the angry MAGATs with #BeBest.
But that also makes me wonder: why are these people so effin hateful and angry all the time? They got the racist President of their dreams, control of Congress, Obama’s legacy completely erased. Shouldn’t they be happy, joyful folks?

    Sorry. Rant over.

    • EM says:

I’m with you! I’ve limited my twitter exposure over the last few days because we knew this was coming. Trump’s popularity is going to reach an all-time high (wouldn’t be surprised to see it at >50%) and I just can’t even begin to voice my displeasure. The release of the detainees are not because of his actions, they are because we’re being played by Russia, China/NK. We are in a weaker position but apparently millions of Americans don’t give a damn. As long as he’s pushing his white supremacist agenda, they don’t care about his corruption, his conspiracy with Russia and his attacks on our democracy. We’re so incredibly screwed as he gets more people like Pompeo & Bolton on his cabinet/admin but sadly it’s not just us… every western democracy will suffer if we fall.

      • Kitten says:

        Exactly.

        HEAVY.
        SIGH.

This has been a really rough week. It’s been nice to come here for the distraction of the Met Gala fashion, etc. but I’ve also missed the usual Trump coverage and my chance to vent (got it out of my system here lol). Alas, Kaiser and C/B need time to detach for a bit as well. It’s exhausting living in TrumpAmerica.

    • Beth says:

#Be Best cracks me up because it grammatically makes no sense. I know English isn’t her first language, but that’s silly sounding. ‘Be your best ‘ or ‘Be the best ‘ would be simple, easy ways to make it sound right

      • Pandora says:

It makes perfect sense in her native language.
I can’t get over her logo though. She scrawled two words with a marker, it took about 5 seconds, then copied the content from Obama admin. She calls that a campaign. The amount of discrespect and sloppiness toward her role is astounding.

      • Kitten says:

Hahaha I know right? She is so useless.

    • Tiffany :) says:

      I share your outrage.

I think part of the reason it is getting buried is that AT&T paid Cohen $200k, while they were trying to push a merger with Time Warner, which the administration would have to approve. It is TOTAL CORRUPTION, but unfortunately, the media conglomerates are a part of it.

      • Kitten says:

This is a good point, Tiffany, and I’m certain you’re right.
But I don’t EVER again want to hear about how MSM provides coverage and pushes narratives only because that’s what the public is interested in.
Because I know I speak for a large swath of Americans when I say that we want this corruption exposed and front-and-center. I don’t need reporting on every one of Trump’s tweets. I can see them for myself and I know they don’t deserve the attention.

      • Tiffany :) says:

I agree completely. Apparently they didn’t pay attention during the WHCD. They fall for his distraction techniques all of the time and it is a dereliction of duty.

      • Tiffany :) says:

I straight up asked my FB friends who were so concerned about Hillary’s corruption how they can see these payments and be ok with this obvious corruption. So far, no responses. Cowards.

      • Betsy says:

        @Toffany 🙂 – keep going at them.

      • holly hobby says:

I subscribe to several twitter feeds and they were all over this. Some suggested that this is why net neutrality was “killed.” Can’t wait for Mueller’s report. He knew and interviewed these companies in November 2017!

    • B n A fn says:

They will go back to follow the money by tomorrow. This is so intreaging that we have no idea how corrupt this dotard is. Michael A is on his butt and will not let it go, he’s like a dog with a bone. Btw, msnbc has been giving him time and as long as he’s bringing the goods they will put him on.

      • Kitten says:

You know, people accuse Avenatti of being a showboat or whatever but I am so relieved that he’s out there. As he said, he’s doing TV so much because it WORKS. He’s gotten a lot of information from people coming forward because he’s been so visible and accessible. I understand the criticism of Michael, but honestly I’m happy to have him fighting so hard right now.

      • Tiffany :) says:

I’m grateful for his work, too. Apparently there were 2 Suspicious Banking Activity reports made about Michael Cohen’s money transfers. Avenatti is demanding the reports be released. He’s really shining a light on so much corruption.

      • Christin says:

I was lucky enough to see one of (if not) the first TV appearances MA made in mid-March. He’d been her attorney for about three weeks. I was impressed. Some showboating, sure, but he’s also shown enough common sense and humility to make me think he won’t crash and burn. I think he really is aiming for the truth, for the people.

I may be proven completely wrong, but from an early point I felt that he was going to be a key part of possibly unraveling this mess.

      • Dee Kay says:

        @Kitten: Exactly. Everything you said.

      • Cberry says:

” I think he really is aiming for the truth, for the people.”
        @Christin

I hope this is the outcome too, but the big hitch is that he’s Stormy Daniel’s attorney. He has to do what ever is in her best interest and what she chooses to do. It’s possible that she could be offered an enormous amount of $ to drop her case, and if she decides to take it, the case and MA investigation goes away. In the case of that scenario I guess what’s left is Mueller’s case or the NY FBI branch case against Cohen.

      • ORIGINAL T.C. says:

They can accuse Avenatti of showboating all they want, they are mad that he’s beating them at the media game. And he is there to advocate for his client and take in the world’s most powerful leader, not give makeup tip or talk about the size of his nuclearbutton. This same media was attacking Comey too. Trump butters their bread.

      • holly hobby says:

Avenatti is playing the Magat playbook and those bums are mad. I’m glad someone is giving them a dose of their own medicine. Is he a showboat? Sure what trial attorney does not showboat? I don’t care, he’s bringing down the circus. Who would have thought an adult entertainer will lead to this admin’s downfall?

    • Lorelei says:

@Kitten you said every single thing I’ve been thinking but you said it better than I could.

The MAGAts on Twitter genuinely scare me. I sincerely hope that they are just a vocal minority who don’t represent his entire base in general because with their threats and photos of gun collections…I can’t even think about it too much.

      • Kitten says:

The Twitter MAGATs are so disturbing, right? My BF warned me when I recently got a Twitter account how bad it was out there, but even he couldn’t prepare me for this. The dark and disturbing (and nonsensical) memes attacking anyone who dares to criticize Trump, the perpetual targeting of women (particularly black women) in positions of power, the unabashed and relentless animosity towards Obama and the left…it’s nuts.

      • Betsy says:

Twitter (and Facebook and tumblr and….) never fixed their little Russian hired gun problem, and we just got confirmation that Russia paid to boost alt-right websites. Yes, some of those are real people (and scary in their utter ignorance and bombast) but they are not a large group. We are being actively lied to.

    • The Other Katherine says:

It’s also darkly hilarious to remember all the accusations of corruption and pay-to-play that were leveled against the Clinton Foundation and echoed endlessly by the MSM, incl. NYT, because they were such good clickbait for Hillary-haters. This is what REAL pay-to-play looks like, with an added soupçon of money laundering. Good times.

      • Kitten says:

YES. But this is what these people do: they project like CRAZY. If I had a dollar for every time I read a meme that accuses someone on the left of doing EXACTLY what the GOP is doing right now, I’d be a rich woman.

      • Tiffany :) says:

        Great point, The Other Katherine.

      • lucy2 says:

        Exactly.
And yes, total projection. Whatever the GOP is yelling about, they’re doing themselves.

      • Christin says:

Hillary had a single piece of bread compared to the full buffet that they are serving up!

    • adastraperaspera says:

The corporate MSM is useless. I told my partner last night that I miss the old days of actual 60-minutes-type investigative reporting. I’ve said here before that my grandmother knew Trump was a mob guy back in the 1980s from reading tabloids! And she lived on a farm in the Midwest! I guess if you are a journalist working in MSM, you must not be allowed to do any actual news stories. It’s just all entertainment. Well, I for one AM NOT ENTERTAINED!

      • ravynrobyn says:

And on the other, ‘silly’ side, I’m so damn tired of my supposedly celebrity/entertainment shows are primarily dump crap 💩💩💩💩

    • Veronica S. says:

They got all of that and the rest of us still won’t lie down and let them steamroll over us. That’s why they’re angry.

Also: Man, did Michelle Wolfe ever have the media’s number in that WHCD speech.

      • Christin says:

I watched her set live, and could not figure out what “they” saw versus what I’d just witnessed on TV. Media figures did not like being called out, and took up for Sarah as a convenient diversion.

      • Betsy says:

She was so right and they were so triggered.

    • ORIGINAL T.C. says:

Some of the blame should go to Democrats in Congress who are completely silent. When Republicans are in the minority the holler and shout pretending their is a fire. They fight for their policies until the bitter end. Democrats have sat down on their hands while President Obama’s policies have been eliminated. They were silent on fighting for Obama care until we the people got loud and forced them to fight, the have been silent on all the bank deregulation policies that Trump has re-enacted. The Paris climate agreement, where were the Dems in Congress. DACA, they folded in less than 24 hours. The Iran nuclear deal, they were more likely to agree with Republicans that “it didn’t go far enough” than to defend it. I see the same handful of 4-5 Democratic men in Congress doing media interviews. Everyone else is staying silent and raising money for their re-election. It’s depressing.

    • Betsy says:

I’m with you, Kitten. I can’t take the corporate media with its eye toward the dumbest possible viewer/reader and making sure that it’s Trump friendly.

We need to get channels publicly owned.

  3. Lynnie says:

Is there an AT&T merger in the works that Idk about? Or where they donating just cuz

    • Kitten says:

There’s a merger: AT&T-Time Warner. There is also net neutrality, which they have a vested interest in, in terms of rolling it back.

      • Lynnie says:

W o w. I’m honestly so disgusted right now. Of course, no one in Congress is going to care, or maybe take a look at the current FCC’s convenient position on Net Neutrality. No why would they that would be logical smfh

      • Tiffany :) says:

What’s interesting to me is that CNN is actually reporting on this story (at the bottom of their page). CNN is owned by Time Warner, so they are a part of this story. I am surprised their competitors aren’t trying to take a more aggressive stance on this.

      • holly hobby says:

I read that Congress got enough people to support putting net neutrality for a vote (49 dems plus Susan Collins). They need 51 to overturn. Now wondering if Treason Turtle will actually allow a vote.

    • Christin says:

Not just that company, but a couple of overseas firms that could benefit from medication prices, selling planes (remember Zero being so miffed with Boeing)…

      But those e-mails!!!

    • Tiffany :) says:

What if AT&T customers demanded they show the contracts they entered into with Cohen?

      • Imqrious2 says:

Not customers, STOCK HOLDERS need to demand answers. I own a lot of AT&T stock and I’ve written to and called corporate offices today.

      • holly hobby says:

People are trolling AT&T customer service hard on Twitter. It was downright hilarious.

  4. tw says:

The sheer sloppiness and laziness of Cohen lumping his “pay offs” and “pay to plays” in the same LLC is astounding! He and Trump were made for each other – corrupt, incompetent fools.

    • The Other Katherine says:

Ugh, no kidding. Not just a mobbed-up grifter, but an incompetent one to boot. ONE LLC PER CRIME, DUMMY!

      • Vernie says:

Your comments are giving me life during an otherwise depressing evening, @TheOtherKatherine. Much appreciated!

  5. d says:

Angry hateful people are black holes and I no longer have time for them. It is a waste and you know what they say about staring too long into the abyss. I try to Focus on building/contributing to the positive changes needed instead. There are plenty of examples to emulate rather than giving time to people who have no intention of changing their mind, listening, or caring. Most of the time, they just want attention and handholding for their insecurities. They are trolls and I do not feed.

  6. Eric says:

Call it pay-to-play if you’d like but Mr Mueller with a huge assist from Mr Avenatti are uncovering bribery. It occurred well into this current administration, as recently as November 2017.
I seen speculation that the timing of rescinding the Iran Deal was to put tRUmp/Russia on the back burner…

Well? How’s that fire now that all the burners are on, Emperor Zero?

    • Tiffany :) says:

What are your thoughts on the NY AG situation? Do you think the change in AG will hurt the efforts to change NY law regarding pardons/double jeopardy? I was feeling confident about the Mueller investigation having state charges as a back-up measure to prevent pardoning, but if NY considers state charges on a pardon to be double jeopardy, then I worry we might be screwed.

      • Eric says:

        Tiff
Can’t say I’m not disappointed, but the NYAG’s office is a many-headed Hydra. Things there will continue in an orderly fashion until they look under every rock and find Ghouliani’s 2003 skin during molting season.

      • Tiffany :) says:

Thank you, that’s comforting to hear!

      • lucy2 says:

If that office has good evidence, I see no reason why they wouldn’t continue as if nothing happened. While I want things to keep running smoothly there, I’m glad Schneiderman was exposed, abusers need to GO.

      • Tiffany :) says:

Yes, he absolutely needed to go. His actions were horrific.

      • holly hobby says:

It really doesn’t matter who the NY AG is. The cases are handled by staff attorneys (the AG is just the face or the top name we put on the pleading followed by the attys who actually handle the cases) so just because Schneiderman is out doesn’t mean the case stops. It doesn’t.

  7. B n A fn says:

Is there any scam this dotard and his lawyer not involved in? I bet his entire family are a bunch of con artists. All I can say is, we on this site did yell long and loud, sounding the horn that this man is rotten to the core.

    • lucy2 says:

It’s like they finally lifted the biggest rock and there are millions of corrupt creepy crawlies underneath.

I hope they get them all.

  8. Christin says:

Just finished reading about the various transactions, which include wires from a Swiss pharma firm. I knew the name rang a bell, and sure enough, they hold a patent for an expensive Parkinson’s medication. They claim of only one meeting with the lawyer, yet continued a 100k/month retainer????

Is it any wonder medications cost so much in the US? All of this makes me sick, but the only cure will be (hopefully) found in November…if people will do their homework and VOTE.

    • Lorelei says:

At least we can understand why it is taking Mueller’s team so long….it is beyond convoluted and every day, some new piece of corruption pops up! I have no doubt he is being meticulous about every single thing but we could be in for a long wait. 🙁

      • Christin says:

It took nearly three years for Watergate to shake out, and this seems far more complex (stupid, yes, but still complex). The weeks seem like months, don’t they?

  9. B n A fn says:

Btw, where did all this money, million of dollars went? Did the dotard pocket it all. MC did say he had to take out a loan on his in-laws home to pay stormy. What happened to the money? Every one is going to jail😆.

  10. KiddV says:

Can I just say that I’m cackling with joy that it was Michael Avenatti that broke this story. A Storm’s coming, indeed.

    • Lorelei says:

I am fascinated by Michael Avenetti! He seemingly came out of nowhere (had anyone even heard of him before this?) and he is a ROCK STAR! He isn’t intimidated by 45 or any of his cronies and he’s just building his case and making media appearances that must make Donald furious with rage.

I don’t know where Stormy found him, but well done! I love him. (I also hope he has an excellent security team.)

      • B n A fn says:

I was thinking about Michael Avenetti today, I’m worried for him. I believe he should be very careful because IMO, the dotard will do anything to keep his corruption quiet. He may send his goons to threaten MA. Also, I believe the dotard start a war to keep his crimes quiet. The dotard runs with a ruff crowd. Ever look at Michael cohen’s eyes? His eyes are dead, no emotions, just blank.jmo. I’m thankful MA is pulling the curtains back but he must be careful he’s exposing 40 plus years of corruption.

      • holly hobby says:

I can say one thing. This issue must scare Orangino because he never once trashed Stormy or MA on Twitter. He doesn’t mention them at all!

  11. why? says:

The Dotard threatened to take away the press’ credentials today. This is no one’s fault but the press. They had a chance to do the right thing and they decided to defend Sarah and attack Michelle Wolf, even going so far as to claim that Sarah isn’t really a liar because the Dotard is keeping her out of the loop and giving her faulty information. The press never questions the role that the bots are playing, even though we have been told many times that the bots have organized rallies and fueled cultural wars. Last week, all the press did was suck up to the Dotard. They were giddy with joy because the bots got his approval rating to the 40s and increased Melanie’s approval rating. It would have been helpful had the press questioned the authenticity of these numbers considering that the Dotard has had nothing but bad weeks and Melanie hasn’t done anything for her numbers to increase.

Then there is the attack on Mueller and how they are trying to destroy his case by going after the lawyers.

Why isn’t Mueller doing anything about Devin Nunes?

  12. tealily says:

I absolutely thought that was Ben Affleck at first glance.

  13. Ochohuit says:

Susan Simpson* wrote about the origins of Stormy Daniels’ 130K settlement back in March by looking through the publicly available records on the Trump campaign’s funds. March. That was two months ago. This is a great read by the way:

    https://viewfromll2.com/2018/03/11/on-the-origins-of-stormy-danielss-130k-settlement-payment-and-the-probability-of-the-disbursement-records-matching-the-settlement-amount-by-random-chance/

*Susan Simpson is a DC attorney known for highlighting the errors in Adnan Syed’s trial.

    • Tiffany :) says:

      I’m a Susan Simpson/Undisclosed/The 45th supporter, too!

Her vocal delivery isn’t perfect, but she is intelligent and uniquely talented at connecting the dots. Her legal expertise in international white collar crime is so useful in examining Trump!

  14. tealily says:

Ooo, I wish I hadn’t read that spoiler in the Diablo Cody article! I didn’t realize it would be such a major one (even though they were polite and put in the spoiler alert).

  15. JRenee says:

And who thinks this money was funneled for influence. Mueller is on the right track!

  16. SCF says:

This is guy is not a celebrity. A public figure yes. Celebrity no. There is a difference.
