Is it just me or is this year’s Cannes Film Festival already really muted? While Cannes has felt less glitzy in general the past few years, I swear that this year’s Cannes feels like a gigantic yawn. Usually they blow it out for the opening night, at least. This year… not so much. Maybe Cannes has just changed so much without Harvey Weinstein using it as his hunting ground. Maybe it’s just an off-year. Or maybe… Cannes just isn’t a big deal anymore? But still, let’s look at fun fashion and jewelry! Here are some photos from Day/Night #2 in Cannes. Most of these photos are from the big premiere of Yomeddine.
Irina Shayk is there as part of her contractual obligations as a model – L’Oreal models are always invited to Cannes – and she brought a good dose of glamour. She wore a Twinset mullet dress which looks like taffeta. Slightly rumpled taffeta, but still, it’s pretty good. While she was there, she also modeled a really gorgeous emerald-and-diamond necklace-and-earring set.
Speaking of Chopard, here’s Julianne Moore looking righteous in a Saint Laurent gown and a magnificent Chopard pendant necklace. I just want to FEEL that necklace. That giant stone!! AHhhh. Anyway, Julianne’s look was totally solid. I’m not a huge fan of asymmetry, but she looks amazing in this gown.
This is Kiko Mizuhara and she wore a chic Dior Spring 2018 gown. I mean… I like this and it looks great on Kiko’s kind of figure, but the color! This design would have looked lovely with a different color.
Louise Bourgoin in Giambattista Valli Couture. Eh. This is just Valli’s take on the same old white-gown-with-matching-cape thing that was overdone like five years ago. Tom Ford did it first! Now every designer is doing it. And this is a bad version too.
Leomie Anderson in Twinset. Beautiful color – I only like bright yellow on the red carpet when it’s on someone who has the coloring to pull it off. This color would have made Julianne Moore look like a dirty banana. But the actual design of the dress kind of sucks, right? It’s giving me “cheap ‘70s negligee” vibes.

Well, let’s see… Irina Shayk looks like she ran out of time for hair and makeup after she put on her lipstick. Perhaps Bradley hogged the mirror?
Julianne Moore has a glam necklace on, but that dress is weird and yet boring. Mizuhara and Bourgoin look very elegant and cool. Leomie Anderson’s dress is fun and pretty, if a bit transparent, and she looks beautiful.
I adore Julianne Moore’s dress, but the necklace is not quite right for it. I like the sculptural lines, and it actually fits her! What was Shayk thinking, wearing a dress without steaming it?
I think Irina looks tired. Didn’t she attend the Met Gala with BC?
And now she’s in Cannes. Looks like she just needs a better nights sleep, along with a better hair brush.

Maybe the American Sniper fake baby kept her awake crying, and honestly I wish I looked half that good when tired, or not tired.
She does look tired AF – too much rompin’ with Bradley? Not a fan of the mullet dress EVER, however, this is the best I’ve ever seen it executed. Gorgeous.
Kiko Mizuhara for the win, she looks lovely.
Irina Shayk is my forever crush – she is stunning although she is wearing little make-up except for the lipstick (as far as i can see). That dress does nothing her though. It looks rumpled and so heavy – like winter is coming. 🙁
Leomie Anderson is beautiful but that dress is all kinds of awful. It looks like an old curtain

I normally hate high-low silhouettes but Irina’s dress is an example of exactly how this should be done.
Julianne looks gorgeous despite the odd neckline. She really can work the carpet. I like Irina’s dress as well although I would have loved it in a lighter material or lighter color. But the fit is terrific. Irina’s hair looks like her hair & make-up people were battling major Cannes humidity but that didn’t stop Julianne’s people from giving her fabulous hair.
Did Julianne get a new stylist? Two days in a row looking spectacular in dresses that actually fit.
I like Kiki’s dress.
I sure hope so, because I am rooting for her to look gorgeous as she is one beautiful woman that deserves clother that fit her.
I also got to side eye a bit the Cannes tradition to make a movie festival about parade of beautiful women. With their high heel policy it seems to me this festival continues to objectify women as part of the enertainment program.

Irina always looks tired. Even before baby. She has this kind of drowsy, puffy “I just woke up” look. Not vibrant. I’ll never really get her as a model although she’s obviously a beautiful woman.
I loved Irina’s dress and her natural eyebrows too, but man, she looks tired.
Irina is beautiful but yes, she looks exhausted. I still don’t get why she’s involved with Bradley Cooper.

Answer: Irina is both rumpled and stunning. She is breath-taking. Julianne Moore is my favorite actress, still underrated in my opinion. All four ladies looked great.
Shayk’s lipstick is great, but did they not have time for eyeliner and mascara? Love the dress.
I have to say, I love what Julianne Moore and Kiko Mizuhara are wearing – really cool and chic.
Especially Kiko, the colour might be subdued but the detailing is gorgeous and she looked stunning when she let it twirl.
