Chris Brown shunned by BET Awards, Jay-Z pulled rank

Jay-Z
One of Michael Jackson’s biggest fans in the music industry didn’t make it to Sunday night’s BET Awards, in which many prominent artists paid tribute to Michael. According to several reports, Chris Brown was supposed to take part in one of the Jackson tributes, but ended up not even showing up for the event. According to a statement from Brown’s rep to Page Six, Brown “was never confirmed to perform.” This contradicts both the same Page Six report, and Gatecrasher, who claim that Jay-Z pulled some major rank to ensure that Brown would be nowhere near the Jackson tributes. It seems that for Jay-Z, Brown is still persona non grata because of the Rihanna situation. Jay famously called Brown “a walking dead man” after Brown beat the hell out of Rihanna, and even though Brown pled guilty and got probation, Jay is holding the grudge. Gatecrasher is also reporting that BET producers and Rev. Al Sharpton had a lot to say about Chris’s involvement:

Chris Brown was a no-show at Sunday night’s BET Awards because producers pulled his performance at the last minute.

According to several insiders, Brown’s appearance was considered risky business on a night honoring Michael Jackson. The “No Air” singer is facing negative publicity after pleading guilty to the February assault of his ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

One source says Brown’s absence came at the insistence of the Rev. Al Sharpton. “Al made such a fuss to the BET executives that they pulled Chris,” says our insider, who adds that Jay-Z also had a hand in the decision. “Jay is a big name in the BET community, and he was very vocal about his displeasure with Chris attending the ceremony. He didn’t want Chris anywhere near the awards so close to the court’s ruling.”

Brown isn’t taking the public dis on the chin, either. “He’s furious,” a pal of the singer tells us. “BET asked him to perform and waited until the last minute to tell him it was off. He’s pretty shocked and outraged right now.”

Both BET publicists and Brown’s camp say the singer was never confirmed for the show.
Meanwhile, Rihanna’s absence from the event was just as noticeable as Brown’s. But while her ex fumed, the “Umbrella” singer was busy hanging out with her crush, Orlando Magic forward Rashard Lewis, in NYC. Says a rep for the beauty, “Rihanna was never meant to attend [the BET awards].”

Also expected at the ceremony were Usher and Justin Timberlake; both bowed out of the event but agreed to take part in a later tribute to Jackson on BET.

[From Gatecrasher]

Page Six also has Jay “threatening to pull out of the show if Chris was involved, so BET dropped Chris.” I actually think this is great, and props to Jay and whoever else pulled rank to ensure that Chris couldn’t attend. First of all, Chris’s presence would have pulled focus from the attempt to honor Michael Jackson. Secondly, Chris Brown should have some career blowback after the Rihanna incident. Well done, Jay.

    <3 for Jay Z

  2. wtf??? says:

i was waiting for you to post this and i wonder if you will delete my comment..

First of all chris has been a major MJ fan before this whole incident and it is no secret..he is one person who always paid tribute to MJ at his concerts and performances..It is such an shame you would think that he would use this incident to use it for his comeback..MJ called him in his 16th and he meant so much to him and that has been no secret..

i hope you and jayz are happy that this young boy could not pay tribute to the one person he admired most for something he is already paying for..you hhatred for him is just sad is all i can say..

  3. Linda says:

I’m glad that someone is holding Chris Brown responsible and showing him that his actions have consequences. Jay-Z just earned a heck of a lot of respect from me.

  4. Praise St. Angie! says:

Jay-Z gets my support for keeping this guy away…

Chris Brown SHOULD be shunned by everyone in the business. he should be made to be an outcast so that it’s known – you’re an abuser, you’re no longer IN.

  5. RJ says:

    :WTF???:

If he was such an MJ fan he wouldn’t have beat the tar out of Rhianna. He deserves no pity, and isn’t-nor should be treated as- a young boy.

  6. wtf??? says:

also if you trully watched that show you will note that there was no real tribute to MJ..it was sham.. only thing that saved that show was janet at the end..The rest made a mockery of him and yet the one person who really admired MJ could not perform and you call that well deserved..i take my hat off to you kasier..i really do..

  7. wtf??? says:

oh really???well the BET honoured and had.

Don- beat his wife to pulp.
TI- in jail right now for carrying guns
Lil wayne- arrested many times for drug possession and had little girls on stage while he sang about fucking every girl in the world.
Jayz- was a drug dealer himself and beat a women on camera..

But hey according to people here cb is the worst and does not deserve to pay respect to someone he actully cared for..you can post videos of prisoners doing an MJ tribute but cb cannot perform??? what double standards and i shake my head to that..

  8. LT says:

Glad Jay Z put the “kabosh” on Chris ‘beat her down’ and BET said “BEAT IT!” Team Jay Z!!!!!

  9. oh puh-leez! says:

    :wtf???

Is that Chris Brown?? Seriously, is that you, Chris? Cause no one else on the planet has sympathy for a woman beater.

  10. Because I Say So says:

@ Oh Puh-leeze: You beat me to it! I was going to ask the same thing.

Whenever I see the name Al Sharpton I just want to puke and stop reading. For once, I think he did something right by protesting the contribution of Chris Brown.

  11. hahaha says:

Justice is sweet when served with a side of FU Chris Brown… I might go buy a Jay Z album as he is my hero for the day. About time someone showed him that we don’t forget overnight…

  12. Samantha says:

Instead of beating it he should have just took a look at the man in the mirror and remembered the time he lived in a dangerous situation, that being his own childhood. Instead he tried to be a smooth criminal but we all know it doesn’t matter if youre black or white – when you scream and use your fists against the lady in your life, human nature tells us you are off the wall and need to be shunned. Wanna be startin’ somethin?!?

Was that enough MJ song references? I tried.

  13. Lem says:

you know it’s bad when Rev. Sharpton is the high road

  15. hatsumomogirly says:

First of all, I really think if JayZ didnt have the damage control team he has, we would all know the darker side of him. I’m no chris brown fan, but I’m an MJ fan and i do remember from awhile back that Chris brown famously and loudly and publicly worshiped MJ. his thriller was laughable and no where mear the stunning that MJ did, but he always gave props. And you know, I youtubed the bet awards for the tribute and i thought it was ridiculous. Not a damn performer there really gave a shit about MJ when he was alive. They just came out of the woodwork to show offf their own damn skills.
And lastly, if you want Chris Browns career to take a hit, dont but his Damn album or songs on itunes. Simple as that. He is going to find a stage and an audience somewhere, but i dont think he wanted to be there for self promotion Ala MJ’s dad.
You know, I’ll never understand this hypocrisy. I know everyone here remembers that ugly song ‘superman that hoe”. How I so hated that song and couldn’t believe when it came out that it had an audience, but it did. Where is the f#@&ing outcry for that? What just because you don’t practice what you preach its OK? Half of every damn R&B song out here promotes beating and demeaning women. That perfectly OK?! Geez Louise that really PIsses me off to no extent. I dont listen to it myself, I prefer good ol’ nortenos and cumbainas, but this is just utterly stupid.
I had to get this rant off my chest.

  16. whitedaisy says:

Jay Z is a hypocrite. It was widely reported that Beyonce’s former assistant witnessed his demeaning and abusive behavior toward Beyonce.
That Beyonce was “ashamed and embarrassed” etc. All of those red-flag words associated with victims of domestic abuse that gave the story validity.
There is also a video of him shoving some woman out of his way backstage……
    kettle. pot.

  17. dark says:

If Jay beats Beyoncé, at least he’s more discret than Chris Brown. Lol

  18. Eileen Yover says:

I don’t think there’s a double standard on here-when there’s eveidence of abuse and we as people have a leg to stand on, there should be consequences. Here say and rumors-how can you punish someone when there’s no proof? Chris Brown had a car with her blood and her beaten face. There should be some repricousions from his peers since the justice system can’t do much.

  19. mel says:

@ Samantha that was excellent, luved it!!!

  20. HashBrowns says:

Please stop trying to defend a convicted domestic abuser. Some of you make me sick to my stomach.

Good on Jay-Z for doing what he could to keep Chris Brown away from this situation and out of the spotlight.

Every time I see pictures of him I see Rihanna’s bloodied face and I just can’t stand it. How anyone feels any kind of sympathy towards him is a mystery to me.

  21. lisa says:

While I absolute loathe Jay-Z and Al Sharpton, I have to agree with them not wanting CB in the same building and being allowed to pay tribute to an icon. Who the hell wants to watch a woman beater perform anyway? If CB is “furious”, he better just get over it because this is how it’s going to be for quite some time.

  22. aleach says:

    @ samantha- well played, friend!

  23. Cari says:

    My $.02 worth:

The mighty Rev. Al Sharpton doesn’t do a thing unless it benefits Al Sharpton. What makes me sick is an interview I saw where he’s a supposed friend of the Jackson family and Catherine practically has gone out of her way to stay out of the spotlight and protect the kids’ interest. But that money-grubbing self-serving SOB “father” Joe Jackson is all up in the news touting his beloved record label immediately following Michael’s death and where is good ole’ Al? Right next to that sh*tbag Joe. Oh and CB is a sh*tbag too.

Wow. Good ole’ Al really irks me apparently.

  24. Feebee says:

So glad to see someone’s holding a grudge instead the free pass he appears to be received everywhere else.

So what if MJ was his idol? Bad behaviour has consequences, this is one of them.

  25. Imara219 says:

I don’t understand how anyone could have major props with this. You know Ike Turner was a notorious womanizer and abuser, yet the AMA still honored himf or his musical contributions.

Chris Brown was an avid MJ fan. He was often cited as the next MJ b/c of his dance moves and is known to idolize MJ. He should have been able to give his respects to the artist that inspired him.

I mean Brittany Spears clearly has mental issues and was institutionalized, yet her remarks and well wishes have been made public. Don Cornelius who has also been accused of abusing his wife was on the show presenting the Lifetime Achievement Award for the O’Jays but Chris Brown couldn’t come and dance. Child bye.

First off everyone was waiting for him b/c he is the only one who could do MJ’s dance moves justice. The family personally requested that he be apart of the tribute and he is making penitence for his crime, a crime that has nothing to do with the award show.

I’m not going to commit how I feel about Chris Brown’s personal actions in his real life, but that has nothing to do with his dancing abilities and relationship with MJ. One should not affect the other. MJ is gone now and he deserved a better show than he received all b/c Camel-Toe Jay-Z wanted to pull rank. Whack. That is the definition of being selfish and close-minded in my opinion.

  26. hatsumomogirly says:

Ok I’m back and still peeved off.
    I don’t even know where to begin….
first off. How can anyone give respect to a damn man who consistently throughout his career degaded women? For what, throwing a hissy fit because a young boy took his songs literally? And you can argue it both ways, I’ve seen it on here in other posts, the stupidity of youth. A lot of posters said the girl who tattooed 56 stars on her face didn’t know what she was doing because she was young and we all make stupid decisions. Given that logic, you can also argue the same thing for chris brown cause both those kids are the F@&%ing same age! Granted In the girl’s case she was hurting noone but herself.
Second, because JAYZ never had DV convictions, that must mean he isnt a woman abuser. Then the same logic should be applied to MJ, he was never convited on child molestation charges, that must mean he wasent one! By Golly!

  27. hatsumomogirly says:

And for your information, I never stuck up for chris brown. to some people who must not be able to read properly or comprehend ideas, I’ll let it slide.
To me, anyone who perpetuates DV or engages in it are scum in my book. My mother was beatin for years by every man she hooked up with, and my sisters and i made a vow we would never live that life. Which is why I’ll never understand why women take back thier abusers because “he loves me’. Not a single one of those men who hit my mother loved her.

  28. hatsumomogirly says:

and another thing, I hate to tell you this, but people can be bought off for money or a lifestyle. or fame and fortune. Tina put up with it for years before she exposed Ike to be the scum he was. And I believe Jayz is no different. He may or may not have hit beyonce and she may or may not stand for it, who knows? But he aint the F@&%ing savior and angel people on this post is praising him for. Just goes to show how gulible some people are to what they are told.

  29. hatsumomogirly says:

and it makes me sick to my stomach when someone can damn an abuser but turn the other way to another one who Idolize that lifestyle……

  30. HashBrowns says:

@hatsumomog: I’m assuming you are talking to me therefore I’ll respond to you.

I didn’t say I respected Jay-Z. I said good on him for keeping Chris Brown away from the show and out of the spotlight.

I never said that you stuck up for Chris Brown. As a matter of fact, I never named anyone in my post. I could have been talking about any number of other people who actually did stick up for Chris Brown, but you decided to take it personally.

Also, I cannot condemn someone for something they haven’t been proven to do. I am very well aware of and have seen a video from many years ago where Jay-Z hits a seated woman in the face. It disturbed me then and it disturbs me now.

But that was many years ago. Everything else since then has been hearsay and rumors that I choose to ignore because there is no way of knowing if they are true.

And one more thing: I do not think, nor have I ever thought, that youth is an excuse to do harm to yourself or others. Doing stupid stuff is something kids do but everyone has a basic capacity to understand that beating someone bloody is wrong (or having 56 stars tattooed on your face and then LYING about how they got there is wrong).

  31. princess pee says:

Funny thing is, the BET AWARDS weren’t actually planned as a tribute to MJ. That was hastily added in, because he had died three days before. It is a regular awards show, though, and not an annual ‘honor Michael Jackson’ event. So, really, Chris Brown could only expect to be there if invited. If not invited, or if his invitation was revoked, so be it. It’s like any other awards show, really.

  32. Eileen Yover says:

hatsumomog: this is a forum for people to express thier opinions. No need to get your panties in a ruffle because someone disagrees with you, plus no one even name you personally. Seems to me you might have a few anger issues yourself….

  33. jzhz says:

I wonder how many of you even know what Sharpton’s political beliefs are, versus just hearing soundbites on TV. I certainly don’t agree with everything he says, but he says a lot that makes sense.

I’m glad Jay-Z and Sharpton kept that asshole from performing.

  34. Courtney says:

Ok So Everyone Can Forget About When Hova Pushed The Lady In Her Face But You Cant Forgot When Chris Brown Hit Rihanna. Everyone Who Said That Is Like A Hypocrite. Jay Z Is A Hypocrite. Michael Jackson Died. That Was The Whole Point Of The Tribute. Chris Brown Would Have Really Made The BET Awards Show So Much Better. Death Of Autotune Sucked. Im Not Saying Forget But Yall Need To Forgive. No Ones Perfect And You Cant Sit Here And Say You Are. We All Make Mistakes Yall Need To Forgive Chris Let ByGons Be Bygons And Move The Hell On. Jay Z Need To Grow The Hell Up And Before He Points Fingers Make Sure His HAnds Are Clean. Everyone Is Being so Hard On Chris. Give Him A Break EveryBody Messes Up. everyone Deserves A Second Chance. Stop Thinking Rihanna Is So Innocent, Cause She Isnt. If i Were Chris Brown’s Sister i Would Have Whooped Her Butt Myself.. Im Not Even A Fan Of Chris But Jay-Z Went Too Far With That. That Was “Mad Childish” Of Him.

  35. Eyeroll says:

Oh my Lord, some people are so STUPID!

Who cares if Chris “no-talent” Brown loved Michael Jackson’s music? I loved it, too. Should they have called me in to perform?

Chris Brown’s lame music, and his lame self, are only popular with functionally retarded tweens and teens. The “OMFG, the latest poster of Chris Brown from Teen Beat was soooo hot. I LOVE HIM, “sob”, and want to get pregnant and have his babies 9 months after he takes me to prom” crowd. … Or people who beat women.

Adolf Hitler loved Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Would you have invited him to do a tribute to Walt Disney?

  36. katieee says:

Way to go Jay Z. Thank goodness someone in the hip hop community/music industry is taking a stand against Chris Brown’s horrific actions. The public should not forgive Brown so easily–he hasn’t even provided a legitimate apology, and now he will serve no jail time. What a message this sends to the public, that a woman can be beaten within an inch of her life, and her attacker will walk free. Chris Brown doesn’t deserve any sympathy. So for all his “fans” out there, why don’t you go take another look at the pictures of Rihanna’s face and tell me how great Chris Brown is.

  37. jann says:

also, Cris didn’t (just hit Rhianna) he beat her Courtney, in the face, bloodied her, that is sick, looking at those pictures, and you are taking it too lightly, what punishment did he get anyway? well I’m glad he didn’t perform if it hurt him, maybe he will think twice next time.

  38. lurker says:

    Courtney:
For someone that’s not a fan of Chris Brown, you sure went to great (and fairly incoherent) lengths to defend him, and bash the others around him.

I agree with Eyeroll 100%. (I would have preferred to see you preform over CB anyday…LOL!)

  39. LondonParis says:

@wtf: I totally get your point. I don’t agree with it, but I get it. Prisoners doing a MJ tribute video is just another example of how widespread MJ’s music was. I don’t CARE how much chris loved MJ. He doesn’t deserve his career, and there are people who are taking steps to make sure that it doesn’t get revitalized.

  40. Real Talk says:

Are you serious?? JAy Z The Drug Dealer? The Guy pooring Alcohol on Women in Videos, the big Pimpin, Wow should I quote some of his horrific lyrics about women which are so disrespectful!!!! This world and people are hypocrits…. Jay Z calling shots at BET??? No Wy… I am pissed about hearing this… That is OK. How much hateful can one get??? Non of these people know God… Chris is Very talented and is the only one that hs MJ’s moves on point… Usher is good and Neyo, but Chris Brown kills them on the moon walk, etc. Did you all not see the tribute he participated in for Michael?? MJ loved Chris Moves and Energy!!!! Who does Jay think he is?? This is so immature of him and he needs to get one of Diddys shirts no B-assness…. Jay Z has female Tendoncies… CB don’t let this get you down, no one can over power GOD. Everyone makes mistakes and Jay Z is worse than Chris Brown… I am sick by this news.. BET Suck!!!

  41. Shelly says:

All of you giving kudos to Jay Z are so dumb. Are you not aware that he put his hands on a woman and PAID her not to file charges! LMFAO. Go to youtube and WATCH HIM abuse a woman, then come back and tell me that he is a hero again for shutting down someone that Michael was bringing on tour with him! LOL LOL LOL. Know your facts before you run your mouth and five a hypocrite. =) ALSO his trashy wife dissed the Jackson family a few months ago and Janet has beef with her, so WTF was she even doing on the stage? I hope they both BURN.

    PEACE OUT.

    RIP Michael.

  42. Mina says:

I think people are making such a big fuzz about it YES Chris did wrong he hit a girl beat her pretty bad actually but that really does happen every day and you don’t see the police doing much… I guess you have to be rich and stuff for it to come out in the news. Anyway Chris is a great singer and everyone knows that Michael was Brown’s inspiration…not letting him be on the show was just dumb he could have made an impact bad or good it’s still an impact. People should judge a person for the action evey one has done something they’re ashamed of and now Chris has to keep up not only with the law, but also with rich influential people that want to hold him back. I think that is just too much. Some one should cut him some slack.

  43. Shelly says:

Wow, no replies to my post? Did you all watch the video of the HYPOCRITE hitting that woman in her face, and google two faced Beyonce trashing the Jackson family? You must have because im not seeing anyone that already posted calling the hypocrites hero’s anymore. Jay Z is a washed up old man that is trying to make headlines by picking on a 20 year old with his trashy wife shaking her butt egging him on.

    Have a great day! 🙂

  44. jasmine says:

wow jay-z did some shit just like chris brown but he did his on video, but yet he wanna come down on chris what the fuck…what kind of shit is that yo?

  45. Marie says:

Jasmine I found the clip! 😉 Here you go Jigga fans, lol! Unlike Chris and Rihanna, you can WATCH him hit a woman!!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_812nBiQgFc&feature=related

I would love some feedback from the Jay Z fans telling us again what a great guy he is. LOL.

  46. queenb says:

jay z id a woman beater him self so why his he coming down on chris brow like dat no matter what i still love CHRIS BROWN

  47. Shelly says:

LMAO still waiting… Where is everyone that HAD Jiggamans back now? The video is right there, did you watch it and have a change of heart? Do we now see what everyone was talking about when the called sausage lips a hypocrite? Probably why u all are so silent now. As it was said before Jay Z needs to STFU.

  48. Sigh! says:

The reason no one is responding to you, Shelly, and the other fools who are going crazy defending Chris Brown with long-winded (or, should i use a term you would understand, “long-azz”) posts, is that we don’t care. You have missed the point of this post. The point is that that woman-beating loser Chris Brown was not allowed to perform. He is NOT an amazing talent, so it isn’t like the world will lose any amazing contributions to our culture if Chris Brown’s career dies. We don’t care WHO shut down his performance. We are just glad that this whiny, mediocre, criminal bitch was prevented from doing something he wanted to do. No one here thinks Jay-Z is a moral paragon. No one thinks he is a hero. He does, however, have more talent than Chris Brown. So, once more: Jay-Z is actually irrelevant to how most posters feel about what happened. We are just happy that a young criminal–who has shown no remorse beyond remorse for the negative effect his actions have had on his career–was prevented from having his way. He was prevented from enjoying a wonderful night out at an awards ceremony. Where he should be is jail. You would do better to improve your written (and most likely verbal) communication skills.

  49. ImReal says:

My whole thing is that that awards show was supposed to be dedicated to Michael. With that being said, who in there right mind will say Michael wouldnt have wanted Chris to perform. The fact of the Matter is some people(BET)are so worried about what others think(JAY-Z,COVER GIRL REPS) that they don’t forget about who the night was supposed to be dedicated too!
Not Rhianna or Jay-z or Beyonce but Michael!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  50. Shelly says:

Sigh! Pretty funny that you said you werent going to respond but you did, lol. Chris Brown is less of a criminal that Jay Z idiot! Jay is not only a woman beater but a former drug dealer and bragged about his crime life so in the novel that you wrote, you still are in denial that Jay Z is a hater AND a criminal, go figure. No rebuttal for the video? LMFAO. Hater.

  51. Melissa says:

sigh, shut the eff up. You must be one of those camel faced fans that’s why you came on here talking sh!t. And for someone that says other posters made lengthy posts, take a look at your own retard. You wrote more than everyone else. I just love idiots like you that contradict themselves. No wonder you are a Gay Z fan, you are just as much of a hater as he is. Michael wanted Chris on tour with him, so he was the best person to do a tribute to him vs a drug dealing woman beater. Hypocrite!

  52. Guest says:

ah ha sigh u must be a jay z stan. u really are stupid if you think that he isnt a hater. his performance sucked azz too, everyone could have done without his dumb so called tribute. im sure that this album will flop just like his last one.

  53. Truth says:

Sigh or whatever your name is, I find it amusing that you are trying to denounce someone that committed a criminal act and are praising someone that has an extensive criminal history. I’m also trying to understand where anyone made grammatical errors… You sound like one of those people that think they are somehow more educated than others by using words that are irrelevant to try and come off as smart. Epic Fail. Its also funny that you don’t see how you come off as two faced. You are happy that Chris didn’t perform because he is a “criminal” in your eyes, but you don’t mind another criminal trying to further ruin a young mans career? Maybe you should take your meds before you try and dictate right from wrong while making yourself look like a hypocrite. There’s a thought. Have a great day.

  54. Shanna says:

I think Jay is a hypocrite. He shared the stage with one of the biggest abusers of women before in his career: Notorious BIG. Biggie had abused his wife and Kim at the high point of his career, and yet, Jay gave him props for his talent as an emcee.

That’s why I view him as a hypocrite for thinking “eliminating” Chris Brown from the show is doing the right thing and standing up to abuse. That’s nonsense. He’s only doing it because Rihanna is on his label and is obligated. How many times are you going to make someone pay for something that they are already sorry for?

By the way, I’ve seen Jay smack a girl on video before. The dude is a straight hypocrite in that case.

  55. aareyon says:

I was a really big fan of Chris, n yes he has been a big fan of MJ b4 the stuff with rihanna, still that is just a consequence that he had 2 pay for doing wut her did. Chris disappointed a lot of ppl with his actions, n I truly hope he has learned his lesson. This behavior is totally unacceptable…. I also commend jay-z for sticking it 2 him; he is a real man, n a true example for wat a man is supposed 2 do. I really hope he gets it together, and I will keep both him n rihanna in my prayers

  56. Kellie says:

I think Jay-Z needs to stop playing GOD! Who is he? I think he is a bully & needs to grown up. I don’t agree with couples playing slap boxing… but Instead of beating a brother down, you should teach him & mentor him. How is shunning Chris Brown making him a positive or productive young man? Jay-Z needs to stay in his lane. Jay-Z has made many mistakes, but no one tried to burn his bridge to be successful in the process. The media has taken Rihanna’s side and only because she is a woman. Yes, I am a woman!
BET.. is part to blame!! Why would you listen to this to Jay-Z? Did you think that through before you said to the world, “ screw Chris Brown”. Look at it this way, we stood behind, OJ, Michael Jackson, Michael Vick, James Brown, Bobby Brown & R. Kelly. What about the R Kelly story? His man was tried for child abuse!! Hellooo.. Jay-Z has not tried to have him banned. If you are going to be righteous take the child abusers out too! All I am saying is, help build a brother up.. don’t help break him down. We need productive citizens, the world already thinks the worst of black men
