Donald Trump is attacking Canadian PM Justin Trudeau for no apparent reason

The G7 Heads of State pose together at the G7 Summit at Richelieu Manor

When Donald Trump was installed at Russia’s puppet “president” here in the United States, many of us morbidly joked about which countries we would end up going to war with during the Putin-Trump presidency. It was hilarious for a moment to think that we would obviously go to war with Canada, our friendly and lovely neighbors to the north. We love Canada and we love Canadians. That was the joke – of all of our allies, Canada was the unlikeliest country for Trump to beef with. Well, no one is laughing now. Donald Trump hates Justin Trudeau now. And it’s not based on anything factual.

Trump was rage-tweeting this nonsense all weekend. Then Larry Kudlow – Trump’s chief economic advisor – went on CNN to say that Trudeau’s mild comments were a “betrayal” and that Trudeau made “false statements” in the G7 conference and “stabbed” Trump in the back. Trudeau made no false statements, and reporters covering Trudeau noted repeatedly that Trudeau went out of his way to downplay the obvious tensions between himself and Trump.

Peter Navarro, Trump’s trade adviser, went on Fox News to say similar things bashing Trudeau: “There’s a special place in hell for any foreign leader that engages in bad faith diplomacy with President Donald J. Trump and then tries to stab him in the back on the way out the door. And that’s what bad faith Justin Trudeau did with that stunt press conference. That’s what weak, dishonest Justin Trudeau did, and that comes right from Air Force One.”

Literally everyone knows what’s happening, and I’ll paraphrase some of the commentators and journalists who do this for a living: Trump and his people are throwing gigantic tantrums simply because Justin Trudeau didn’t give in to Trump’s unhinged threats about trade. Trudeau calmly and diplomatically reacted to Trump’s threats by downplaying how f–king insane Trump is and hoping for the best. That’s what Trump is mad about. That’s what his people are mad about. So now they’re trying to bully, malign and threaten one of our closest allies.

I can think of a few reasons…Trudeau is younger, fitter, better looking.

    • Ms. Blake says:

Don’t forget: more intelligent, more experienced and not completely unhinged.

    • Jane says:

Not mention, class, dignity and style. Some thing Trump will never have.

    • jwoolman says:

My theory is that Trump hates Trudeau because Justin is taller than him. So when they are photographed side by side, everybody can see that Trump is at most 6’1” tall rather than his claimed 6’3”.

Well, it’s as good a theory as any.

He hates Angela Merkel despite her shortness because she’s a woman… And she keeps saying “No, Donald, you have to negotiate with the European Union” when he asks her again and again such things as “can I just negotiate with Germany?”. She is patient but firm. He really hates patient but firm.

So it’s the G-6 now? The United States has been kicked out for relentless stupidity and petulance?

    • IlsaLund says:

Also, Trudeau and Obama get along well. Anyone who likes Obama is Trump’s enemy.

      • minx says:

Yes, like Anthony Bourdain, who did that great show in Hanoi with Obama and spoke well of him. I’m sure Trump knows about that.

      • Lady D says:

I remember Obama introducing Trudeau to the masses by saying “bout time, eh?”
So funny and a perfect example of the relationship between the two countries. Sob (even though I couldn’t specifically explain the tears)

      • bettyrose says:

Remember pics of Obama & Trudeau together? I don’t need my world leaders to be GQ level hot, but doesn’t hurt, either.

      • Masamf says:

No Donald Trump is not attacking our PM because Justin Trudeau is tall, or handsome, or intelligent or has class. Donald Trump is attacking Justin because Justin dared to tell him that Canada’s interests come first and foremost to Canadians. And that the Canadian PM will protect our Canadian farmers and steel workers and all Canadian from Trump’s bullying tactics and attempts to destroy our nation. Justin practically stood up to Trump and said “not today Satan, not today”. Trump assumed that when he left Canada, everyone was gonna be calling and begging him to make deals with them, none of that happened and Trump and his henchmen are livid. Well, Trump better buckle up, because NAFTA was DOA, and nobody is gonna be making any deals with him any time soon. So I guess congratulations are in order to comrade Putin, mission to ruin the US accomplished without even firing one single shot.

    • AnnaKist says:

Donald Rump attacks Justin Trudeau because Donald Rump is the biggest, most bitter, most clueless, dumbest, most hateful, most jealous twat in existence right now. Justin Trudeau is also a bit sexy, as I’m sure precious Ivanka has let slip to her father. A teeny bit sexy is something Trumpelstiltskin never was and never can be. And he knows it. Ooooooohh! It makes him soooooooo mad!

      • minx says:

Trump HAD to see the pictures of Ivanka looking at Trudeau with heart eyes 😍😍😍.

    • tw says:

      THIS!! He is sooooooo jealous!

    • HeidiM says:

Don’t forget that Ivanka also behaves like a wanton hussy when Trudeau is around.

    • noway says:

I’m waiting for some media person to just say this. It’s mostly about the better looking part. Justin Trudeau is a very good looking guy. Like miles better looking than Trump, and this bugs Trump. Macron is good looking too, but not as much and he is shorter, also a big thing with Trump. Honestly, I think age has made Trump lose the supposed inch he had on Trudeau, but maybe that is like the 270 lbs he weighs. Sure it’s whatever you say it is the fittest man to ever be President. Yes he attacks our other allies too, but not like he did Trudeau. The comment that precipitated his tirade just didn’t predicate this kind of multi lateral attack on Trudeau.

When I see these little tantrums in the media, I usually try to think about these comments by taking out the personalities involved. I imagine someone else said it, without all their celebrity brand baggage, and see if it really is that bad. With this one, I didn’t even need to do that. Honestly if Trump was mad at this statement. WTF!?!? Get over it and STFU!!!!!

      • minx says:

Trump is definitely vain about being tall. I think that drove him crazy that Obama is tall, too, but also trim.

    • CairinaCat says:

Bigger hands, Better Hair, Attractive, Funny, Intelligent, More popular than Trump is with Americans, Complicit Barbie has the hots for him… Should I go on?

    • Lady A says:

Trudeau also doesn’t have end stage syphilis, so of course Bilgly D is jealous.

    • kellybean says:

Also, Trudeau has a good head of hair. That must drive Trump insane!

  2. LadyMTL says:

As a Canadian (and one who lives in Quebec too!) I have no words to adequately explain how angry this made me. I am so glad that the G7 is over and the orange plague is gone.
Enjoy burning all your bridges and glad-handing with NK, president Dotard.

    • Aephra says:

Fellow Canadian here, and yes this made so mad!

      • still_sarah says:

As a Canadian, it made me really mad too. I mean, Canada?? Really??

But then I remembered that Justin Trudeau grew up in the shadow of power (he grew up in the Canadian version of the White House) and I’m sure that he had a great view of all of the backstabbing and conniving that can go on in politics. I am pretty sure his father former Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau schooled him well on that count. Life lessons and all that – PET was a smart guy and he would have passed it on. So I’m pretty sure Justin Trudeau is just rolling his eyes and calling it another day at the office.

      • AnnaKist says:

I’m Australian, so observing from afar. Obviously, there are people who disagree with Mr Trudeau’s politics, but he seems respectful of people, so I think people respect him, too. Trumpelstiltskin respects nobody. That handshake Justin gave Rump, though – glorious!

      • Lacia Can says:

Anna – remarkably, just about everyone in Canada of any political stripe is siding with our PM. Stephen effing Harper went on FOX to criticize the US position on trade. Stephen Harper! The most conservative PM of modern times backs the Liberal PM. Brian Mulroney (of all people) is working behind the scenes on behalf of Trudeau. Mulroney is another former Conservative PM who’s chummy with the Bushes. There are other examples, including NDP figures as well.

      • Tigerlily says:

I am old enough to recall when justin’s Pa was PM. It came out in Pres.Nixon’s infamous tape recording that Nixon called Pierre Trudeau an ‘as$hole’. Trudeau was asked for comment & said: ‘I have been called worse things by better people’. Nuff said.

      • Nancito says:

@Tigerlily – hahaha, love that Trudeau quote.

      • ann says:

Canadian here too. And yes, I was FUMING. But let’s make a very clear distinction. We LOATHE this administration and most especially your President. We still love YOU. We know that this senile, racist, misogynistic, treasonous, unhinged lunatic only appeals to a very small number of Americans (and we have yahoos up here as well). The rest of you are who you always were: our good friends and good neighbours. Remember the bromance between Trudeau and Obama? *sigh* I miss that. So all that to say is that while we *are* insulted, we know you are as horrified as we are. It’s not you: it”s HIM. We get it. You also have our deepest condolences because this dangerous fucktard is actually running your country.

    • jwoolman says:

Trump might get along fine with Kim, at least until he figures out he’s not getting whatever it is that he wants. Birds of a feather, really.

Trump would like to have absolute power like Kim, except pesky people here keep blocking him.

      • Indiana Joanna says:

Well, Fox News did call both drump and Kim dictators. So at least someone finally called it like it is.

        FU dictator babyfists!

    • AnnieBee says:

Canadian living in Quebec City here also. Last week, all people were talking about was how they were going out of town for the weekend. We’re all shaking our heads at all of this. We love going to the US and go at least once or twice a year, but my partner said last night that we should curtail our US spending for a while. I can’t imagine we’ll be the only ones thinking that way.

      • ann says:

Yes. Until this president is out of office, I will not enter the US for any reason.

      • Ravine says:

Same. I made a point of finally visiting NYC for the first time in early January 2017, specifically because I knew there was NO way I’d cross the border again until 2021.

Then again, I live in Ontario and “we” (not me or anyone I know) just elected ultraconservative buffoon Doug Ford as premier, so I suppose I can’t get all high and mighty.

    • Miss Melissa says:

As an American, imagine how angry this makes the majority of us who didn’t vote for him. This idiot is going to kill us all.

And yet, I am grateful for all of the foreign powers that stand up to him, because the members of the GOP never will.

      • Maraidh says:

Miss Melissa, thank you for posting my exact thoughts.
        God help us.
So sorry, Canada. We love you!

      • Bea(trice) says:

It makes me even angrier that I live in a place swarming with Trump supporters. I wish it was as easy as “just move.” Because I would. To Canada!

    • Steph says:

But it’s not HIS bridges he is burning. It’s America’s allied relationships. Who will stop him from going to war with our friends and letting the country become a dictatorship? Our senate does nothing to uphold the constitution.

The American people are being held hostage to a mad man.

      • Sojaschnitzel says:

Greetings from europe. I wouldn’t worry too much about the burning of bridges. It’s clearly visible from over here that your country is deeply devided and that there’s a suffering ~half of sane, liberal, nice people that hate this orange idiot as much as we do over here. I don’t think this will do lasting damage on the political connections to any european country, because nobody here is taking that medium sized toddler serious anyway. It’s a one off. We’ll all forget about him soon.

    • Leigh says:

Canadian friends, we Americans are so sorry for what we’ve unleashed on you and the world, there are not enough sorrys out there to excuse our idiot-in-chief. Sigh. 🙁

    • noway says:

As an American, I apologize for this. Just know that more than half of the American citizens who voted didn’t vote for him. We should all keep saying this a lot and loud, because it pisses Trump off so much then maybe he will stop picking stupid fights with our much better looking friendly neighbor up north’s President.

You know originally Hillary was out there taking the punches from Trump for us. I know some didn’t like her out there after she lost, but for the first year he just jabbed back at her, and with her book and interviews it did seem to distract him some. Now that she has lowered her profile, he needs something else to attack. He is like a toddler. He needs the next shiny new toy.

    • Oh_Dear says:

the plus that came out of this is that #thankyouCanada is trending on twitter, and there is some funny stuff on there : )

    • Rrafael says:

Me too, from Montréal. Made me mad. Seriously, who pisses off peaceful Canada!
      Franchement!

  3. WMGDtoo says:

First it was Mexico and no Canada. Does no one not see the pattern. But he will say nothing about Russia. No matter how they have attacked us. He is destroying ties to all the nations surrounding the USA. This man if he can be called that is a TRAITOR. And he is working to destroy this country.

    • Nic919 says:

Former PM Harper straight up said in a Fox News interview yesterday that western countries cannot trust Putin and that he should never be at the table. He noted both Bush and Obama didn’t trust Russia either.
Bigly orange traitor needs to be impeached soon. He is a danger.

      • Esmom says:

I think most Americans have always known Putin should never be trusted. It’s just insane how Trump supporters are suddenly ok with it. I honestly do. not. get. it.

      • Bailie says:

I feel like I have to say something, as someone who was born in the former Czechoslovakia during the Soviet invasion and illegally escaped before the collapse of communism at age 18 in 1989 a few months before the Berlin wall : PUTIN is very dangerous, can’t trust him whatsoever, trained by KGB and KGB was something else…
Please take it from someone who has seen many terrible things.
I strongly believe that the Russians must have something very bad on Dumpy Trumpy.
I’m very, very disappointed that any United States representative would be behaving in this horrible towards Canada and sucking up to the PUTIN.
        It is truly unbelievable.
Where is that spineless Republican Party now???

    • Medusa says:

Russia must have some serious leverage on him. With regard to most things he’s impulsive at best but the only time he does seem to be very, very careful with his words is when it comes to Russia. Considering his base hasn’t left him with all he has said and done up until now whatever Russia has on him is so bad that he is terrified that when it comes out not even his hardcore base will stand by him and/or be able to save him.

      • noway says:

There are some jokes, but I think it might be true it is the Golden Shower tape. Aside from the fact that Trump is as vain as you get, the crazy evangelicals are going to have hard time justifying that.

      • Medusa says:

Noway: I think it must be much worse than just a pee pee tape. The crazy evangelicals have already shown their hand by excusing his constant adultery with what they see as women of questionable morality. They even excused Roy Moore and his child molesting ways. Although he is very vain he is also so vain to think his base will excuse anything and everything he does and he has been right so far. I think it has to be some kind of evidence that’ll definitely put him away for the rest of his life. The kind of fear he has for Russia is the kind of fear that makes a malignant narcissist kiss the boots of another so I’m thinking more financial with a hint of embarrassment from the tape.

      • ann says:

It’s got to be more than a pee tape. Trump is so greasy that it’s got to be something so appalling that even he couldn’t talk his way out of it. I’m not talking live boy/dead girl scenarios, but I bet there are huge financial felonies. I also suspect that Trump was used as a russian agent because he was too stupid to know it was happening or he thought it was in some way cool and he would never get caught. But it’s something big. The man is trying to burn down the whole world.

      • Bea(trice) says:

They’ll justify anything he does or they deflect and bring out some insane conspiracy theory to explain it all. They must have a lot more on him than we think.

    • Va Va Kaboom says:

I swear I feel like America is in an abusive relationship at this point. We’re at the stage when the abuser slowly sabotages all your closest relationships so you’re isolated and dependent on only them.

      • Jan90067(aka imqrious2) says:

So agree with you. This is so beyond scary at this point. I’m watching him meeting Kim, live, right now… and this is so terrifying… befriending Russian and No. Korea.. GODDAMMIT REPUBLITHUGS…GROW A SET AND STOP THIS CRAP NOW!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS NOT AMERICA, OR AMERICAN VALUES!

  4. OriginalLala says:

Trump is so conveniently forgetting about the thousands of stranded 9/11 passengers that were taken in by Canada, especially in Gander NL and housed and fed by the community for days – and he is now calling us a threat to national security. What an idiot…. I’m glad Trudeau isn’t cow-towing to this bully.

    • Lydia says:

Canadian soldiers also freed the Netherlands in 1945. That’s not forgotten. Trust me, this is only making people respecting you more.

    • minx says:

As an American, I’m so sorry. I didn’t vote for this idiot and neither did anyone I know, I live in a very blue state. But I’m still sorry.

      • Ba says:

@minx : Thank you, but I don’t think you need to be sorry. We, Canadians know that vast majority of Americans didn’t vote for this awful disgrace of a human being. I have many good friends in the United States and they are NOTHING like Dumpster Trump and his gang of losers.

      • minx says:

Thanks Ba. Thank god at some point he will either be voted out, drop dead, get indicted or resign. So we can look forward to that.

      • still_sarah says:

@ minx : Thank you. It’s easy to get sucked into this type of inflammatory rhetoric and become anti-American. But that misses the point IMO. Hurting small businesses that rely on tourism isn’t going to hurt Donald Trump. He has to be hit where it hurts – in the politics, in the ego.

      • Lady D says:

As much as you can know someone strictly on the net, I know a lot of great Americans. I know very few in real life, but I still believe the majority of you are good and decent people, just the same as Canadians, Europeans, Australians, Asian, etc are. I’m really sorry you are stuck with such a horrific leader. Here’s hoping he’s gone before he does irreparable damage to all of us.

      • Jan90067(aka imqrious2) says:

Same here.. I am SO ashamed my country has become this …mess… I grew up as a child in the late 60s.. as an 11 yr. old I campaigned door to door for Bobby Kennedy… I stumped peace, and world unity… sigh… I’m tired…and feel so defeated. I truly just don’t understand what happened.. how it all changed so fast. And I am so very scared for the future, and for my country, that I don’t recognize anymore. This is NOT “my” America. I do apologize to the rest of the world for what we foisted on you. Please know, most of us are NOT with this orange beast.

    • The Original G says:

Listen, Canada isn’t perfect. We have our issues. Amazingly, we’ve got our Trump supporters as well. It’s some weird personality cult.

      • dimsummum says:

Fellow Canadian agreeing with you. Canada isn’t perfect – we do have our issues. I am no longer a Justin Trudeau supporter because of his weak policy. My brother, is a massive Trump supporter. It’s impossible to understand.

    • Felicia says:

He’s also forgetting the US citizens who were shielded in the Canadian Embassy during the Iranian revolution, given Canadian passports and exfiltrated out of the country as Canadians. Sadly, he likely has only ever heard of that via the film “Argo” which took the artistic license of giving credit for that to the CIA, something that has no basis in reality.

  5. Jaded says:

What Trump doesn’t realize, because he’s never made it out of the play-pen, is that his behaviour is only going to stimulate WAYYYY more trade with his other evil menace China. Good luck you steaming pile of camel dung – the world CAN and WILL carry on with other more reliable trading partners and without your insolent and ill-informed tirades. Good luck ‘Murica, you’re going to need it.

    Signed:

    An outraged Canadian

    • Penguen says:

      Dear Canada,

      I’m just… so sorry.

*Raises a Timmy Ho’s double double in the spirit of apology and unity*

      Sincerely,

      An outraged American

  6. jferber says:

What to say? Trump’s most disparaging criticism is “weak.” His greatest praise is “strong.” In Trumpbrain, democratic leaders are “weak” because they work for the people by consensus. Dictators are “strong” because they do whatever they want without opposition (or kill or jail opposition). This dualism in thinking is simplistic and actually wrong. It’s wrong. He is wrong. And Trump is actually weak. Very weak. That’s why thuggery (for white or Asian leaders) is so appealing to him. I hate to think what he would have done in World War 2, had he been president. Line up with the Axis powers? Dystopia. This man is a wrecking crew.

  7. Veronica S. says:

Oh, I think it has plenty of reason. Blaming tariffs and “unfair” trade partnerships as the reason for American industry is struggling, rather than the real culprits – monopolization of the market by massive corporations, massive wage disparities, technological shifts, working class exploitation, the cost burden of employer-based healthcare model, etc. – plays off the ignorance of his base and allows them to focus their anger on an enemy they’re helpless to effect rather than turning it on the government responsible for it.

    • Esmom says:

      Very well said.

    • Juls says:

Yes I think you are on the right track. Jealousy of Trudeau and all that aside, it’s pretty simple. Trump blames others when things go wrong, and his base eats it up. He knows that his economic policies will ravage his base. He knows this meeting with Kim will be a disaster. So he thinks he can blame Trudeau for the US’s economic woes as well as his being made a fool re: NK, and his base will eat it up. And he’s right. His supporters are even dumber than he is.

  8. Lila says:

And Ivanka looks at Trudeau like she wants to eat him. As disgusting as it is to say, I imagine that makes Daddy Dearest jealous.

    • JennyJenny says:

      My thoughts exactly!

    • Incredulous says:

I, too, thought it was because Ivanka wants to call Justin Daddy more than she wants to call Donald Daddy.

(Yeah, I went there, come at me)

Also, Peter Navarro only has the job because Jared “Kennest of dolls” Kushner saw his book on Amazon and decided “This guy has moxie.” No, I am really not kidding.

    • Ponchorella says:

      Indeed

  9. Christin says:

If he has a problem with the guy’s actions, why not bring it up face to face?

It’s like attending the family reunion, then running to social media to complain about one relative (who just happens to be more liked) one hour after you leave. Childish way of handling things.

    • Nic919 says:

Dump is the weak coward that he accuses everyone of being. He projects 24/7 on others what he is and has done.

      • Christin says:

        Major Projector, indeed.

It’s sort of a badge of honor to be insulted by him, isn’t it?

    • Esmom says:

Absolutely. He’s childish and cowardly, hiding behind his tweets. He is so appalling.

  10. Mel M says:

That unhinged statement from Navarro is so embarrassing. All of these grown men acting like toddlers.

  11. Nic919 says:

This has pissed off Canadians bigly. Even trump lite Doug Ford has tweeted his full support of Trudeau which is basically a miracle. ( also smart because Ontario’s economy is linked to the US… and believe me Doug ford and smart are not words I thought I would say in one sentence). Harper, former PM and Trudeau nemesis even went on Fox News and laid out how dangerous Putin is to western democracy (a position he had well before Crimea) and set out the facts on tariffs and how the US Canada trade exchange actually gives a surplus to the US. Harper hates Trudeau but even though he is a conservative he put country before party. Harper said that you can’t have Putin at the table because you can’t trust him.
The current conservative leader Scheer was a bit mealy mouthed until after Harper and Ford gave support but even he united against him.

Nothing unites Canadians like dumb ass Americans coming after us I guess. (I know that the US celebitchies are cool)

    • flan says:

Thanks for explaining a bit more about Canadian politics.

    • Christin says:

I am genuinely glad that our northern neighbors still have country first and politics second.

The rational leaders are going to have to map out a plan while the petulant child plays his latest game.

And to repeat what many others have said — Not all of us voted for him! This seemed impossible even one hour before the election took results started pouring in.

    • ann says:

But we aren’t pissed at the average American (apart from possibly the stupid Trump voters). We are reasonable/rational enough to know that you have a crazy person driving the ship of state and that, until the midterms, there is very little you can do about it. And YOU guys have to live this nightmare every single day. He’s just trash talking us. We’ll be fine: Justin is his Daddy’s son – and if you read up on Pierre Trudeau, you will discover that *nobody* fucked with him. Our boy will do just fine. He won’t back down – but he won’t descend to Trump’s level either. WE know that none of this is your fault personally, but please understand that because of Trump’s behaviour on trade, those tariffs are coming and they’re going to hurt. It’s not you, it’s HIM. We apologize but we’re as caught up in this as you guys are,

But let’s never confuse spats between Trump and ANYONE as having anything to do with, well, reality. Don’t let him prod anyone into divisive or nasty comments. He wins then. It’s exactly what he wants.

  12. FozziesMom says:

As of 8am PST #ThanksCanada was trending on twitter from all the Americans tweeting about their positive Canadian contacts from all the support post 9-11 (all the diverted planes & passengers that were landed in Newfoundland & other provinces). Trade deficits – pffft. There’s an 8.4 billion surplus to the US when you consider NAFTA in its entirety.

  13. WendyNerd says:

Trump is just jealous that his crush gives Trudeau bedroom eyes.

  14. jferber says:

By the way, I’ve never seen Trudeau look hotter.

  15. NorthernLala says:

As a Canadian: an apology is needed. You do not talk to Canada like this. This is unacceptable. He bends over for murderous dictators and treat us like crap.
In the words of Robert DeNiro-
    Fuck Trump!
Get rid of him and the gop already!!
I quit Twitter because of him and the idiot who was just elected in Ontario. They suck the good out of everything. I’m sick of these idiots

    • The Original G says:

As a Canadian, frankly there’s nothing Trump and his minions could say that changes a thing. All of us have to stand together be witnesses to Trump’s eventual unmasking as a fraud.

His personal dishonesty and aggression can’t be an excuse to stoop to his language and tactics and create divisions between old friends.

    • still_sarah says:

@ NorthernLala : Hang tough, kiddo. We survived Ronald Reagan, We survived George W. Bush. In Ontario, we survived the Mike Harris “revolution” (ugh). So yes, we will survive Trump-tastic and Doug Ford too. It won’t be pretty but we’ll make it through. And we will buy some really cool protest t-shirts too while we’re at it! #CanadaStrong 🙂

      • NorthernLala says:

Everything/ Everyone is so much meaner now because of social media.
It’s hard to hang tough lately – I guess that’s why I quit Twitter- I just don’t want to hear these people anymore. They don’t deserve to be where they are.

  16. Wood Dragon says:

With all the nasty, detrimental and nightmarish things he and his lackeys are doing, will the horrors never end? Mid-terms or Mueller. Something needs to happen.

    • flan says:

Exactly, but people need to vote.

I’m not talking about Celebitchies here, since this was about the only site where people were smart enough to support Hillary strongly. Problem is not just the idiots who voted for Trump, but also those who seemed to spend more time complaining about her than they did about Trump, even though they disliked him. There were too many people who were ‘too woke’ or believing of all the fake news that was spread to vote for her.

      • Ravine says:

Sexism and liberal perfectionist bullsh*t handed the election to Trump. It doesn’t matter if the liberal candidate isn’t good enough for you in a vacuum: if the republican monster clown is good enough for his base, and sadly he is, you need to get over yourself and vote Democrat, not Green or Harambe or whatever the f*ck the cool kids are doing.

  17. jwoolman says:

Trump doesn’t understand that with international negotiations, you need to go for everybody coming out a winner, everybody feeling safe and that their concerns have been listened to and incorporated in the agreement. He also doesn’t understand anybody who is not motivated by profit.

Trump’s coming late and leaving early is one of his trademark power plays. He recommends that to others as the way to negotiate. Prove who’s the boss. He doesn’t understand that he’s not the boss and he’s just wasting other people’s time and patience.

The rest of the world just needs to ignore the United States for the duration. The whole country is calling in sick and has to stay in bed until Trump is dragged off in handcuffs or in a strait jacket. Either one will do.

    • minx says:

Trump always wants to be the big swinging d*ck. He doesn’t understand the to- and fro- of international negotiations at all.

  18. NYCTYPE says:

I’m an American and I feel genuinely outraged, how the President of the United States keeps behaving like a petulant 2 year old in a toy store, stumping his feet, because he doesn’t get what he wants.

This orange nightmare is trying to ruin many decades of good relationship that we developed with Canada, a peaceful nation that is threatening no countries verbally or otherwise.

Reluctantly and for a good reason they joined USA in some ill conceived wars and this ill informed, badly behaving bully is imposing ridiculous tariffs on Canada, because of a security threat???

What kind of a garbage is that?

And he is sending his cohorts to news talk shows on Sunday to trash another country’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau?

Who in the hell is Peter Navarro and Larry Kudlow, how dare they?

    It’s disgusting!

I wish that the Mob Boss Trump would disappear into the thin air before destroying everything worthwhile.

    Such scum!

    • IlsaLund says:

I wish we had responsible elected officials and news media that would call Trump on his arrogant and dangerous behavior and speak the truth about what a threat Trump is to the country and the world.

      • Mel M says:

+1000000! Why doesn’t anyone call him out?? I’m genuinely baffled how people defend his cowardice and childish tantrums. Everyday feels more and more like a departure from reality and I’m looking around wondering if I’m the only reasonable thinking adult seeing this???

  19. The Original G says:

I just want to say that Canada practices supply chain economics with respect to dairy. This means production does not exceed demand to keep the industry profitable for farmers. (Canada’s dairy exports are less that one percent of total exports to the US. The US on the other hand, subsidises dairy farms. Different approaches, but we drink our own milk and you drink yours.

Yes, there’s a 270% tariff on dairy to level the field in dairy, just as exports of Canadian sugar are subject to a 300% tariff.

Trump’s proclivity for lying seems to include Canada and the G7. Not a surprise. There’s nothing Trudeau said after the G7 he didn’t say before the G7. Trump came late, left early and claimed that everything was going great when it wasn’t.

JMHO, I think Trump was thinking he could scare a quick victory on Trudeau for some publicity and freaked when he got a smooth stand-up. He was outplayed because he wasn’t paying attention.

Sounds like he wants to dump on Trudeau if things don’t go so well in Singapore, as well.

  20. ASHBY says:

I so miss President Obama, decent, intelligent, thoughtful, mindful, kind, reasonable, a person of integrity.
Now we have this awful disgraceful person bringing shame on the whole United States even though most of us didn’t even vote for him.
I’ve been to Canada 6 times and I loved it, very kind, friendly, peacuful and generous people.
I’m very sorry Prime Minister Trudeau and also Canada!

    • Christin says:

I visited once, and found the people genuine and caring. We drove to and from Toronto and could not believe how courteous the drivers are. Much more so than where I live, which is supposedly a friendly US region.

  21. jwoolman says:

I’m just hoping Xi prepared Kim well for our orange baby bull in the china shop. Has Trump learned how to politely shake hands yet?

    • grabbyhands says:

Well, this whole meet up is just Kim jerking 45’s chain because he’s already figured out how to get what he wants from him (gross flattery). I imagine there will be a spate of dick swinging, some messages going out from each team talking how tough they were with the other one and then everyone will go home. 45’s base will wave their flags around and scream MAGA, continue to forget that NK is still a human rights dead zone and fill various chat sites about how “strong” he was compared to Obama and how he should still get the Nobel prize.

  22. aquarius64 says:

Orange-zilla is coming to the UK next month, July 13, for the working visit (actually push around Theresa May more). The is having tea with him, and Andrew is playing golf with him in Scotland. Harry and Meghan are scheduled to be in Ireland on the same day. Coincidence?

    • IlsaLund says:

I’m sure Trump and Andrew will have much to talk about and get along well. Just hope the British people show Trump how they really feel about him.😉

    • Nic919 says:

I hope there are massive protests when he is there. The G7 location was off the beaten path so there weren’t enough people protesting against the orange buffoon for my taste. But he will have fits when he sees how people hate him.

      • The Original G says:

Trump would luuuuuv a massive protest. He loves being the skunk at the party.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Oh it will not go well for him, bigly protests are being planned and he won’t get all the pomp and circumstance that normally comes with a state visit and that will piss him off yugely. He’ll be lucky to get a photo op with TQ, maybe she’ll bow out and dump him on the Cambridges.

I would LOVE Prince Philip to troll him with one of his famous ‘gaffes’ – EZ would be too stupid to realise the DoE is insulting him. Please Phil please troll him.

      • Jan90067(aka imqrious2) says:

I know it’s not healthy, but I hate Dump with the energy of a million suns… if ANYONE deserves to die a slow, painful death it’s him (God forgive me). With his lack of exercise and his diet, isn’t a stroke or heart attack possible?? He is another Hitler, and he doesn’t deserve better.

And I’ll add-to the citizens of Gander, Newfounland, when we were flying to Germany for Dad’s next Army assignment in 1960, our plane had engine trouble. We set down in Gander and you fed and housed us all overnight until our plane was ready the next day. I’ve never forgotten that. Love you!

      • Indiana Joanna says:

Hi, Jerusha! Yes, I actually learned about that amazing act of kindness while vacationing in Happy Adventure, Newfoundland. Love Canada!

  25. Jerusha says:

There’s no mystery to IQ45’s behavior. He’s a giant, suppurating asshole. That’s the explanation for everything he does.

  26. Says_me says:

So, for the ones who voted for this goof, believing that his wealth would trickle down…happy now? He’s making the US look foolish, which is sad because i know many intelligent, wonderful Americans.

  27. d says:

Classic old-timey Trump businessman-style posturing to make himself look good. In his mind, absolutely the right thing to do even if he is wrong about so many things. Traditionally, Canadian farmers and other industries have been effed over by American tactics…this is just another tactic. I expect Trump to be calling us red commies any day now.

  28. bettyrose says:

I have joked so many times that I could never be a politician because I can’t hold my tongue. I actually have a lot of respect for anyone – even those I don’t agree with – who thinks well on their feel and is skilled at saying the right thing to diffuse a tense situation. But nearly all adults know what not to say publicly. We may have a few close confidents we can rant to privately, or joke inappropriately with, but no one else on earth could get away with this level of petulant behavior without repercussion. Maybe Kim. But literally no one else.

  29. Claire says:

Guess no one has read the latest about Trudeau and his groping. That’s certainly been brushed under the carpet. He’s a creep with a soft delivery but he’s dumb. Trumps an arrogant jackass with a huge but very fragile ego. I despise both.

    • Bettyrose says:

      Claire,

It’s fine to despise both. Honestly I don’t know much about Trudeau, but I’m not aware of his being dangerously unhinged, and that’s where the bar is now set.

      • Claire says:

I never said Trudeau was unhinged. What I said was it’s strange how he’s been accused of groping a reporter and it’s been swept under the carpet. He’s a lousy PM. Trump is frightening!

      • bettyrose says:

        Claire –
I didn’t mean to put words in your mouth, was just lamenting how unbelievably far the U.S. has fallen in global esteem just in the last 72 hours.

    • Scotchy says:

      @Claire,
This beige Canadian(BC livin so I have many many a reason to despise this federal gov’t) is also not fan of Trudeau or the federal liberals in general, but in this instance the guy did nothing wrong and got savagely attacked. So while they both are unfit for different reasons I gotta side with the non insane one on this. It is a mess messy mess mess.

    • Jaded says:

Claire – it’s not “the latest”. It (may have) happened almost 20 years ago and the alleged “groping” was never described, either by the reporter or onlookers. To equate something that maybe/sorta/kinda happened in 2000 to the outright and blatant misogyny and physical attacks on women that Trump has done and continues to do is ridiculous. I am no fan of Justin Trudeau but he seems to be holding his own against the Orange Turd in his idiotic hate-on for Canada.

      • Claire says:

I do feel it’s true because he acknowledged the groping. Seems somewhat hypocritical considering he’s coming out so strong on feminism and gender equality. Frankly I’d prefer he focus on the economy etc. Not that I don’t think the other needs addressing as well. I’m sorry but I don’t think Trudeau is capable of holding his own. Esp Trump!

      • ann says:

        Oh my god, a Tory.

    • QueenB says:

Im also wondering how this isnt covered more. Its yet another male feminist showing his true colors.

To now say “He is better than Trump” is such a misguided thing. Trump isnt the bar. If thats the bar we can quit.

  30. hogtowngooner says:

From The Toronto Star: “POTUS (president of the United States) is not gonna let a Canadian prime minister push him around… on the eve of this [NK Summit],” Kudlow said. “He is not going to permit any show of weakness on a trip to negotiate with North Korea.”

Sorry (lol), but since when was it Canada’s responsibility to make the US (and this Dotard POTUS) look strong and mighty to a madman dictator he unilaterally decided to meet and admitted he won’t bother to prepare for? According to Trump and his minions, Canada is just supposed to bend over and accommodate this twit’s delusions of a Nobel Peace Prize without a care for anyone’s safety? Yeah… no.

Trump and his ilk are the perfect embodiment of the Ugly American (which I know is a stereotype, the vast majority of Americans are great people): jingoistic, arrogant, disrespectful and entitled. But his fan club eats it up, because they think it makes them look strong and powerful.

  31. Aes says:

Canadian commentators are speculating the U.S. doesn’t want Trump looking weak when he goes in to meet with the leader of North Korea. Concern that Trudeau’s vocal opposition may be seen as potentially damaging. So: retaliatory fireworks.

Doesn’t justify this nonsense, but it’s suggested that may be one reason Trump is coming so hard for Trudeau.

    • aquarius64 says:

Trump was looking weak before Trudeau said anything.

    • Janet R says:

Trudeau is young, handsome and tall and that orange fool is intimidated by him. I have been in shock, shame and disbelief ever since that “election”.
Jimmy Carter had to sell his family farm to run for president and tRump just goes on filling his pockets like that’s normal. It’s been quite awhile since I have had any respect for the Republican party – they are all complicit in allowing this to go on. Please hurry Muller!
      We’re so sorry, world….
Someday I hope we can be trusted again…

  32. Lala says:

Trump is no longer hiding that he’s a Russian asset and as such…he will go after each and every ally that we have to cause as much chaos as the Kremlin requires….when Democracy is under siege…countries like Russia flourish…

  33. Bunny Warren says:

As a Brit, from Wales, I have always had a great fondness for Canadians and Australians, and the same goes for my fellow brits-I have never heard a single word against our friends across the miles. They will always be our brothers and sisters. Also, the non trump supporters/voters will always be our brothers and sisters too. I, and many of my fellow Brits, are disgusted that PM May invited him to the UK in the first place. He is an absolutely shambolic excuse of a human being who is in a political position that demands dignity, respect, honesty, empathy, intelligence, listening skills and humanity by the bucket-load. Trump has none of these traits. It really is frightening that he is surrounding himself with the most dangerous politicians that the world has ever seen. I hope I am wrong that we may be heading for another axis of evil such as that of Germany/Japan/Italy in World War 2, not that America will have any allies soon. He is surrounded by the stupidest, greediest, most self-serving bunch of enablers and not one of them will stand up and challenge him. He is a truly appalling ‘old-school’ dictator and the most dangerous person in the World. I hope he gets a bullet in the head!

  34. Molly says:

Well, Trump insults other countries as well, not only UK. What a world. US has insulted everyone now. Horrible.

  35. rabbitgirl says:

    Dear Canada,

    • still_sarah says:

@ rabbit girl : Come on down! I hear the border between New York and Quebec is rather unguarded and a favourite for asylum seekers. Not kidding – that’s where they all go.

  36. holly hobby says:

The fat orange baby is mad because Justin is so dreamy and daughter wife has the hots for him. Seriously these people should calm the f==k down! Stabbed in the back my a#$. That’s how the rest of us feels by him and the Repugnicans.

  37. Cee says:

So the US, under Trump, imposes tariffs and restrictions to other countries and then acts all surprised when they answer in kind? Now I really do believe Trump is not good at business.
He expected everyone to bow down to the US and be like “oh yes, impose tariffs on our goods, we will just take it quietly and jeopardize our economies.”

  38. paddingtonjr says:

This has always been Trump’s MO: he desperately wants to be respected and liked, but doesn’t know how to get it. As a businessman, he hired small companies to do work for him and then either wouldn’t pay them or didn’t pay as agreed; when they would protest, he would beat them into submission (figuratively) by threatening to bankrupt them with legal loopholes. He thought he would be the darling of NYC society by giving money; the society leaders would take his money with a smile and then try to ignore him. He thought that once he became POTUS, people would have to respect him and do what he says. When they don’t, he throws a temper tantrum. Trudeau is a reasonable, intelligent and charismatic leader who carries additional goodwill as the son of a former PM. He is well-respected, if not universally liked, and won’t be bullied. Trump is realizing his old MO won’t work anymore so he is losing control. Sadly, he may take America’s reputation and economy with him.

  39. Ann says:

He’s just trying to show Kim what a tough guy he is.

  40. CairinaCat says:

I’m a republican but on Tuesday I voted Democrat across the board.

    I voted for Hillary too

I’m really hoping the younglings vote come November

    • still_sarah says:

@ CairinaCat : Bless your heart. I understand – desperate times call for desperate measures.

  41. Em says:

Trump and Trudeau had a heated phone call at the end of May over new tariffs apparently Trudeau asked Trump how he could justify the tariffs as a “national security” issue. In response, Trump quipped to Trudeau, “Didn’t you guys burn down the White House?” the British media loved it because now GB doesn’t have to feel bad about burning down the White House in 1812 because Trump thinks it was Canada.

Trump is so dumb he doesn’t even know why protecting US steel production IS a national security issue. If things go belly up in the world and you have a very depleted major national industry such as steel , it’s bound to be a problem. Canada isn’t the problem it’s China and the rest of the world has just let them take over , albeit under the guise of trade. They are literally taking over Africa as we speak by making virtually all new infrastructure their own (under the guise of international private companies , which are actually owned by the state) I guess Trump has made the tarrifs universal so he doesn’t have to have a show down specific to China.
