Angelina Jolie took all six kids to see a performance of ‘Wicked’ in London

The National Board of Review Awards

I love musicals and musical theater, but I’ve never really been into Wicked. It’s more than possible that I just never gave it much of a chance though – I am more into the Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals, which I know makes me sound impossibly gauche and middle-class. I can’t help it thought – Evita and Jesus Christ Superstar are MY JAMS. Anyway, what was I even talking about? Wicked. Wicked is in London’s West End. And Angelina and the kids are in London throughout the summer while she works on Maleficent 2. So she took the kids to see Wicked:

Angelina Jolie is enjoying some family time abroad amid her custody dispute with ex Brad Pitt. The actress, 43, is currently in London with her kids Maddox, 16, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, and 9-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox, who all live full-time overseas with Jolie as she films Maleficent 2. Over the weekend, she was spotted treating her children to a night out at the London’s West End to see the musical Wicked, and shopping at a department store with her brood looking “happy and relaxed.”

Some Wicked cast members tweeted about Jolie’s appearance at their production, with actress Claudio Kariuki saying, “Angelina Jolie in watching @WickedUK for the 3rd time tonight, casual.”

[From People]

I haven’t kept up with this, but apparently this is Angelina’s THIRD time seeing Wicked in either London or New York. Maybe she’s just a huge fan of this particular musical. Or maybe one of the Jolie-Pitt children is secretly a total musical-theater nerd. Or maybe the whole family just really loves this particular show. Out of all the kids, who is the most likely contender for “musical theater nerd”? My guess is… Zahara, maybe? Shiloh seems like she’s more into skateboarding, Pax is more into cooking, Maddox is more into filmmaking and the twins… well, we don’t really know their personalities.

I really enjoyed that musical, and have seen it several times after going with different friends over the years, but three times in a short time period? No thanks.
The kids probably enjoyed it though.

    • Vi says:

I don’t think it was three times in short time period… I remember she went to see Wicked a few years ago with her children and Mariane Pearl.

    • jan90067 says:

I love musical theater, and I loved Wicked (I admit, I cried at the end lol).

Boy, Shiloh looks SO MUCH like Jon Voight!

      • Kelly says:

Wicked is fantastic! I recently saw it twice in about a week and a half when it came through my city.

    • minx says:

Saw it on Broadway 10 years ago, not with the original cast, and it was a great night.

  2. Darla says:

Love Wicked! I saw it on Broadway. I would see it again but haven’t had the chance. It was great.

  3. Mary says:

    PR

    • Crane says:

Is that your default response on every Angie thread lol.

    • Kate says:

      Mary, are you a bot?

    • JA says:

Her entire life is PR, kids included.

    • The Hench says:

@Mary – PR for who? Did you mean the musical? Because, if so, yes. Cast members tweeting about Angie coming to see them could be a PR move. Or they could be excited she was there. Or both.

A PR move on Angelina’s part? Doubtful. Being seen at the same show three times in a short period says ‘cutely nerdish’ to me. I kind of like that positioning but I sincerely doubt it’s the one Angelina Jolie would be actively aiming for….

  4. Brandy Alexander says:

Wicked is definitely worth seeing over and over.

  5. Maya says:

Not a fan of musicals but I loved Wicked the book. One of the first stories to show villains were not born villains but circumstances change them…

  6. Kate says:

So, the kids are still in London with her. Giving some of the most recent headlines, I tought the FBI or NSA was about to break her doors and bring back those children to their poor, long-suffering dad.

  7. annabanana says:

Theorizing what her kids are into or their personality is really creepy, tone it down .

    • Kaye says:

What’s creepy about it? It’s not like we’re stalking them to learn their location.

      • annabanana says:

An adult woman is speculating what privates citizens who are minors are into and what she thinks their personalities are isn’t creepy? This isn’t a one time thing she’s been writing how she imagines the kids are. Kids of someone she doesn’t personally know! It’s really creepy and disturbing.

    • hmm says:

Why is it creepier to theorize about a child than an adult? And if you don’t like people writing and speculating about people they don’t know personally, why are you on a celebrity gossip website?

      • annabanana says:

        Because they are children!!!! Wow!

      • hmm says:

        That’s not actually an answer

      • annabanana says:

Doing those things to a celebrity who chose the public life is ok its part of the job they chose but to children who didn’t choose to be public personalities is wrong! They ate not celebrities their parents are!!! They should be off limits and adults imagining and theorizing about lives and personalities of children who are private citizens is really off. If you still don’t get it then I don’t know anymore with you

      • Hmmm says:

I agree with you but get your own name. There’s already a hmmm. Then again you only have two m’s so I guess it’s ok.

      • hmm says:

@Hmmm, I’ve been commenting on and off with this name for years 🙂 Although I probably change the number of m’s all the time.

@Annabanana, I do see your points there, but I don’t think they have as much to do with being children as with being people who did not sign up for this lifestyle. Unfortunately, these kids are going to get some negative aspects to go with the perks that simply come from being the kids of Brange. For instance, I know a girl who is obscenely rich, but that comes with needing a body guard with her at all times. It sucks, but every life has ups and downs. In the grand scheme of things, as long as the comments about them aren’t negative, it’s unfortunate and probably a bit sucky, but I don’t know if it really qualifies as creepy or over the top.

    • Derriere says:

I think it says much more about you being uncomfortable with such an innocuous statement than it does about Kaiser. Police yourself and your emotions if you need to, but don’t bring unnecessary drama on here.

    • KB says:

I agree that it’s weird people know some personality aspects and interests of the Brangelina kids, but that’s on Brad and Angelina, not the rest of us. They publicized details about their kids to sell movies or their “brand” or whatever. It is only natural that people continue to discuss the kids.

    • Omrita says:

@Annabanana, I totally agree with you, I find it creepy too. I’ve noticed this here before so it’s an ongoing thing. One could argue that their parents chose to make them part of their brand but…*they* still didn’t, and they are still kids. So yeah, creepy.

  8. Loopy says:

Maybe she likes watching Wicked when she is filming Maleficent as some kind of inspiration, though I don’t really know what Wicked is about lol

  9. Emily says:

She did this years ago, my sister used to work there. She said everyone at work was buzzing about it, I think it was before maleficent.

  10. HelloSunshine says:

I’ve only seen it once but I would totally see Wicked again, it’s an amazing production. So i can see where she’s coming from on seeing it three times!
I’d also totally see Book of Mormon again, that musical is amazing lol
I really like that she takes the kids out to different events so often. My feeling is that not all of them are into every single thing they go to (I feel like that’s impossible to achieve when there’s so many of them) but they go to support each other’s interest and I think that’s sweet 🙂

    • minx says:

I want to see Hamilton again and take several family members who haven’t seen it. But the tickets are still so exprensive.

  11. Hmmm says:

Oh please! I thought there were pictures or something. People magazine stole that info from Twitter just so they could go on about Brad Pitt for the millionth time.

  12. Jordan says:

Are they still making Wicked into a movie? It was amazing live. I only wish I had seen it with the original cast.

  13. Amelie says:

I saw Wicked a few years ago for my birthday in NYC. I absolutely loved it but dear God are tickets so expensive. I ended up seeing it 2 months after my birthday because I couldn’t find “affordable” tickets for my whole family to go. Ended up buying them about $100 a pop and ended up in the orchestra with partial view of the stage which wasn’t so bad unless the actors were standing in that obscured view which didn’t happen that often. Justin Guarini, aka the runner up the year Kelly Clarkson won American Idol, played Fiyero in the production I saw.

  14. Redbutton says:

I’ve seen Wicked once and I thought it was overrated. The best broadway musicals are fairytale-like ones that aren’t trying to be halfway adult in the themes. I loved Beauty and the Beast; it was done so well. Yes, the story is no feminist one but it was absolutely magical on stage: the colours, the costumes, and the “magic” in how they made him turn human.

  15. Two dots says:

Gawd, her acting in these photos is hammier than By The Sea
