The era of pretty boys with pretty, long man-bangs is over! Thank God. Because Zac Efron’s hair was getting ridiculous. The short-haired Young Hot Hollywood trendsetter was none other than Chace Crawford. Chace debuted his shorted hair last week to much fanfare on the Gossip Girl set – he actually looks pretty good, although Lainey is calling him an elf. Next up was Zac Efron, who finally trimmed his out-of-control man-bangs and decided to go for a more conservative look. Now Gatecrasher is pointing out the The Era of the Man-Bangs is Over, pointing out that it’s not just Chace and copycat Zac – it’s Jared Leto too. But who cares about Jared Leto?
Three of the poster boys for long locks — Chace Crawford, Jared Leto and Zac Efron — are trying out shorter looks. There must have been a memo floating around Hollywood last weekend, ’cause they all flaunted their new ’dos for the Fourth.
Celebrity stylist Cecilia Care told us the radical cuts could be a result of the boys wanting to be seen as men. “When stars drastically change their image, it’s usually because they want better or more mature roles,” Care noted.
Even so, she couldn’t help but be surprised by the actors’ drastic transformations. “Their hair was each of their signature looks,” Care said. “It’ll be interesting to see how the girls react to them now.”
We have a feeling that for these hotties, girls will keep on coming … bangs or no bangs!

I’m not sure when it became popular for guys to wear really long bangs, but it’s a horrible look that deserved to die. In Zac’s case, he does look a lot younger with his short haircut – but in Chace Crawford’s case, he looks more sophisticated. It’s like my cougar sense is tingling. But you know what? Even though these boys are changing their looks, doesn’t mean they’ll be up for more “mature” parts. These boys are still awfully pretty. Much prettier than me.

I’m with you Wench, being 23 myself, they should totally appeal to me.
But sorry, I just can’t deal with these pretty boys. I like my men to look like they can actually throw a punch, not like I could knock them out.
