  1. Oh I hope that people get all bitchy about the cost of MJ’s memorial, so we can remind them that they were all bitchy about the idea of asking the public to help out with ticket prices. And how they were all bitchy over the idea that it wouldn’t be a big public affair.

  2. Yeah, but Michael deserves it. Honestly I thought it was going to be way worse.

  4. -Stabler and Benson hooking up has pretty much been expected…but I worry that it will make the show come to an end…like when Fran and Maxwell finally hooked up on the Nanny

  6. Oh let them put this off on the taxpayers…watch how well that’s going to go over with already broke Californians.

Isn’t it customary for the family to pay for the funeral?

  7. Wonder if they sat down with the family beforehand to discuss some kind of arrangement. How do you ask someone to give you money for something that should have just been given as a gift. Granted L.A. might be in debt, so is every other city in the US, but if any other big city could have done it, there is doubt that they would ask for the price completely if at all.

  8. It was on the local L.A. news that AEG & the staples Center charged fifty thousand bucks to each news station/camera crew set up etc from all over the world, for a spot to have their camera crews set up & film outside and inside. So I think AEG should pay the City of Los Angeles for all the expenses incurred for this whole production. They got free advertising as the whole world now knows of AEG and the Staples Center.

  9. They should pay for the costs out of the estate. Many people deduct funeral expenses from estates.

What is the normal procedure when there is an event at an arena - who pays for the costs of traffic police etc? I should think it would be treated as facility expenditures and paid for by the host/producer of the event. Anyone know?

    Who Gives A Sh*t...:

…it’s only money! The man is dead, for chrissakes! Talk about how much money tourism from his funeral bought into CA, and stop trying to dredge up a never-ending controversy about the man! Even in death he’s giving you media idiots a life!

  15. Yes, but think how much money it brought the city with everyone flocking there. It was a real boomtown. I bet LA made money off of this deal overall. Airport, hotels and eateries. It was a business deal. Just more people mooching off of ‘the gloved one’.

  16. That was nothing, Michael Jackson was THE KING OF POP and he deserved it & the memorial was done to perfection may he rest in peace.

We bury Presidents with less pomp and circumstance. There are Egyptian pharaohs who didn’t get that sort of over-the-top splendor and opulence at their burials.
