NY Post: Debbie Rowe sold her kids to Katherine Jackson for $4 million

debbie1
CB already covered one theory behind the on-going custody battle for Michael Jackson’s children. Many of the tabloids and news sources are reporting that Debbie Rowe and Katherine Jackson have either reached an agreeement, or are working on an agreement to limit or ban Joe Jackson’s involvement with the children. Radar has Debbie and Katherine negotiating an “out of court settlement” with some kind of codicil that Joe won’t be allowed near the kids. A source tells Radar: “Debbie is absolutely steadfast that Joe Jackson not be involved whatsoever in the children’s lives. Michael regaled Debbie with what a horrible father Joe was, and Debbie doesn’t want the children exposed to that. Debbie is navigating a minefield right now of emotions, but she will make sure that Joe Jackson isn’t involved in their daily lives. [Debbie] became so upset that she was reduced to tears.”

Except the New York Post has a somewhat different version of the custodial issues. This could be total crap, but you never know. They have Rowe simply wanting more money in exchange for not fighting for custody. According to the Post’s sources, Debbie Rowe got her “final payday” – $4 million:

Michael Jackson’s baby mama Debbie Rowe has sold her kids again — this time squeezing about $4 million from her former mother-in-law in exchange for giving up her parental rights, a family source told The Post yesterday.

“It’s one final payday,” the disgusted Jackson confidant said.

The family isn’t happy about the mega-payout — which was set to be sealed in Los Angeles yesterday afternoon — but they consider it a necessary evil, the source said.

“They felt it was like a ransom-type thing. [Rowe] jumped back into the picture because she wanted money,” the friend said.

CB wants to think the best of Rowe, and I’d like to as well, but Rowe doesn’t always give us a lot to work with. I do think Rowe is capable of simply auctioning off those kids for a cash settlement – if the stories are correct, that’s pretty much what happened when she gave Michael custody. It’s my hope that Rowe really is fighting to keep Joe Jackson away from the children, and that Rowe herself doesn’t drag the whole thing out in the courts. We’ll see.

It’s not like she lives a life of champagne wishes and caviar dreams. What’s she going to use all that money on, besides horses?

Sounds like Jackson family disinformation to me.

I think the Post should have asked a few more questions, instead of publishing a story based on one highly prejudiced source.

  2. mel says:

Told ya so!!! Now how is Debbie Rowe different from Joe Jackson??? Of course she wont harm the kids but selling them for money… Very sad all around.

  3. Ursula says:

She is one to talk about parenting when she can sell her kids like some chattels. I am no Joe Jackson fan but those kids should go to Rebbie like Latoya said. If the family is aware of Jackson’s desire to have the kids raised by Rebbie, that is what they should do.

  4. Larissa says:

horses can be quite expensive if ya´re into it!

  5. diddy says:

are people suprised, it was obvious it was only the money she wanted . debbie never mentioned wanting the kids after michael death, it was only after it was revealed he left her out of his will that she came out of whereever she was .

even her friend has revealed a email from her this week that shows it was all about the money

    Debbie Rowe’s Shocking Custody Emails

Rebecca White, a close friend of Debbie Rowe, is opening up exclusively to “Extra” about emails written by Rowe to White regarding the custody of Michael Jackson’s children, sent just days after Jackson’s death.

“I know she’s seeking custody of the children,” Rebecca reveals. “I think she wants the best for the children.” In an email dated July 2, 2009, Rowe’s writing suggests that she appears to be conflicted about going after her biological children — Prince Michael, 12, and Paris, 11. “I’m not going after custody,” Debbie writes to Rebecca. “These kids are not mine. They were never mine. They were always Michael’s. I was Michael’s best friend.”

Despite that email, Rebecca believes that Rowe is seeking custody. “I think things change on a daily basis,” White explains. “It’s not like she doesn’t love them. It’s not like she doesn’t want the best for them, but her life is different…The idea of being a mother to those children is something I don’t think she really wants. She can’t just sit back in the shadows and not say anything because then she will be looked at as the woman who gave up her children and that’s a horrible thing to say… She had to do something to protect them in a way.”

In an email from Debbie to Rebecca on July 5, Rowe seems to be changing her mind about seeking custody. “My lawyer is telling me I have to take some responsibility about the welfare of the children,” Rowe writes. “Do I want the kids? Hell no. Does it look good for me to ask for them? Absolutely. I don’t want to look like the woman who gave away her kids and just forgot about them. Would Michael want Joe to have them? I think it would be the last thing that he would ever have wanted.”

White admits that she believes Rowe is motivated to seek custody for financial gain. “The motivation is money,” Rebecca says. “I really have to be honest… If the children aren’t the ones she wants, what else will she gain from it?”

Rebecca also confirms that Rowe told her a secret custody deal is in the works. “Yes, absolutely,” White confirms. “In one text message she had just said, ‘Just wait until the 14th. Everything will be done after the 14th.’… There’s definitely going to be a secret deal. There’s definitely going to be a settlement that’s going to come out of this.”

Just read the rest of the story on the Post’s site.

Apparently this Jackson source says that while there’s no language in the agreement prohibiting Joe from coming near the children, “the family will keep him in check.”

Um…has the family ever kept him in check?

    Based on results, no.

Joe wants to start a group with the children called “The Jackson 3”, according to the story. “But that’s something the family would not tolerate,” the story says.

Meanwhile, some of the (broke) brothers are currently filming a reality series. How long after the custody hearing will it take for the Jackson 3 to appear on that show?

  7. diddy says:

@ CandyKay , abc named the source regarding this story and it is a woman called ‘Stacy Brown’ who close to the family esp mj sister rebbie. she has also written a book about the family before

    http://www.abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/MichaelJackson/story?id=8076642&page=1
so i belive this story ,esp with the fact they named a source.

i guess you dont wnat to believe this of debbie rowe, but the woman has taken money twice before what makes you think she wouldnt again lol

and yes the family can keep joe in check , he cant mouth many things but at the end of the day joe cant do nothing, joe kids aint teenagers anymore that he can shove around, his children are adults with children of their owen ; i doubt old man joe can do anything without their say so.

and jow lives in vegas so your fear that he would raise mj kids is misplaced , but the kids would still im at family fuctions like they have always done even when their dad was alive.

if michael didnt have a problem with his dad being in his kids why are , as long has he doenst raise them i dont see the big deal. to ths chlddren that is grandfather and the only grandad they have know; am sure they even know him better than they know debbie rowe

  8. YT says:

And who believes articles in the NY Post?

Did always-cash-strapped MJ pay off his settlements with DR? Would any money she receives actually be what she is already owed? She was married to him and had two children with/for him and certainly could have gotten a lot more money to start with if she had really wanted to.

DR felt the children were safe with MJ, but now decisions must be made for today and the future. Kathryn will not be around forever.

I doubt the actual truth of the final custody arrangements will ever be known since the news media tend to skew information and use information from unreliable sources. My only hope is that Joe Jackson be kept from exploiting and harming the children.

  9. wow says:

Probably just more crap. Seriously, this custody talk makes no sense. Just because a biological mother is still alive does NOT mean the courts will automatically give a kid back to that bio-mom. Afterall, a judge won’t find it in the best interest of a child to return to a mother who’s, let’s say a prostitute or abuser or some criminal.

Heck it isn’t even that easy for a couple or a single parent to ADOPT a kid in the U.S. – and those are people who actually WANT children. Debbie has already gone on record as saying she NEVER wanted to be a mother nor raise the children. It’s on film, coming straight out of her mouth. Any judge would surely take all of that into consideration. She has no case.

    Also, excellent points, Diddy.

  10. PJ says:

Only $4 million? Bet she could have gotten a lot more!

  11. Bam Bam says:

So she wants a suitable home for the kids she had planned not to raise them anyway, but wants them protected , and of course she wants to dip into the fortune a bit, it makes sense to me, though 4 million is a bit much. I suspect many would do exactly the same.

  12. Obvious says:

Diddy, I don’t mean to be nitpicking, but could you please use spell check before you post. I’m getting a headache trying to decipher what you wrote.

Other than that, she’s sold them before not surprising she’s done it again.

But 4 million is chump change if you’re really into horses and showing or training. A couple years maybe.

  13. Tazina says:

There are liens on her farm or at least there was. She probably needs the money. But who knows if this story is even true.

  14. Nikki says:

I always wanted children and family, my home. I will never understand woman like Debbie. Is she an alien or what?? I understand that money is important, but being a mother is something special. I have a cat with kittens and i always get mushy when i see how she cuddles her offspring.

  15. Cheyenne says:

Ursula: “those kids should go to Rebbie like Latoya said. If the family is aware of Jackson’s desire to have the kids raised by Rebbie, that is what they should do.”
    *************************************************

I’m no fan of Latoya’s, but for once she’s making sense — if she actually said this. When did any of the family say the kids should go to Rebbie? Rebbie’s always been my choice but so far no one’s heard zilch from her.

  16. valupack says:

I thought every one of the Jacksons were broke except for Janet…so who would have paid her? Or maybe a promisary note once the will is settled

  17. Jag says:

I don’t believe for a minute that they’ll keep Joe from those kids, unless it were in writing and enforceable. My reasoning? The public statement they released about Michael’s death was signed: Joe Jackson & Family.

  18. mel says:

CNN is reporting no deal between DR and KJ and I didnt see anything on TMZ’s website. I hope this is the case but I can truly say everyone is cashing in on MJ’s death.

  19. Cheyenne says:

Valupack: Rebbie isn’t broke; she’s married to a successful businessman. Latoya’s worth at least a million. The brothers are hurting in varying degrees.

  20. someone says:

I believe its about Joe having access to her kids, not about money! She has said all along, that she would take the kids, before she would let them be any where near Joe..

  21. j. ferber says:

Joe, or no Joe, Rowe will disappear once she gets yet another cash settlement. Just call her Debbie “Cash Settlement” Rowe. Her qualms are nothing but ruses to re-sell her children. Disgusting. I fear for those children.

  22. gg says:

NY Post story FALSE per mtv.com:

Despite multiple reports that Michael Jackson’s ex-wife, Debbie Rowe, had accepted a multi-million payment to settle a potential custody battle over the two children she had with the singer, lawyers for both Rowe and the Jackson family said on Tuesday (July 14) that no deal has been reached.

Anonymous sources told the New York Post that Rowe, who relinquished custody of the children, Paris, 11, and Prince Michael, 12, in 1999 after the couple divorced, had agreed to take a $4 million payment in exchange for not fighting Jackson’s mother, Katherine, over custody of the kids.

That report is “completely false,” according to CNN, citing an open letter to the New York tabloid from Eric George, Rowe’s lawyer.

  23. Shana says:

Both the Jacksons and Debbie Rowe should raise the children.
