In children, esp babies, we use the veins on the feet a lot. This dermatologist has no clue about Ivs because she's a dermatologist and probably has never set foot in a hospital in a professional way before. It is well known that iv drug users will shoot up in their feet esp between their toes to hide the marks. The only reason we use lidocaine with propofol is to help lessen the stinging the patient may feel with injecting the drug. There is no way of telling for sure why MJ had that lesion on his leg. Whether the "puncture marks" are caused by IVs is also questionable. Some people have poor veins. I have seen lower extremities being used for IV access in my 2 year career in medicine, so if that doctor hasn't seen it done in 22 years, perhaps she just wasn't paying attention. It's possible that the creams, and not iv use, caused the wounds. Sickle cell anemia also causes necrosis. So do some cancer treatments. Someone who is allergic will swell; I've not only had swelling, but also horrible back spasms from being bitten by a common brown house spider, which isn't supposed to be poisonous at all. But I'm highly allergic. As for those pictures: wow. That looks like a brown recluse bite to me, but of course, I'm just a layman.
