Duchess Meghan stepped out at The Polo Bar with friends last night in NYC

Meghan Markle arrives at The Polo Bar for dinner with a friend in NYC

The way I figure it, the Duchess of Sussex got three solid days of low-key time with her girlfriends in New York. No one snitched on her location, people respected her privacy. Then people started leaking. To be fair, much of it was to be expected – Meghan can’t and wouldn’t ask her friends to basically go into hiding when they’re in New York. She and her friends are just living their lives, and of course people eventually found out. So by Monday, we knew she was in New York. Tuesday was the baby shower, which was full of Meghan’s friends, many of whom flew into New York just for this. Then a few hours later, Meghan and some of her peeps hit up The Polo Bar.

First of all, I’m sure Ralph Lauren is beyond thrilled that Meghan and her peeps hit up his branded restaurant. RL loves royalty, and he was disappointed in the past by how little face-time he got with the Duchess of Cambridge. If this was a low-key spon-con, then it was a smart move. As for her peeps, Meghan was seen with her dear friend Markus Anderson, Jessica Mulroney and Serena Williams.

For this outing, Meghan wore a pair of Hatch Maternity jeans which are possibly the same pair from earlier in the day. She paired them with a black blouse (ID unknown), her navy Victoria Beckham coat (which she wore for Christmas at Sandringham) and shiny black Tamara Mellon boots. Her black bag is Stella McCartney. Good blend of designers.

Meanwhile, details about Meghan and Harry’s itinerary for their Morocco trip were released – they arrive in-country on Saturday, and they have a jam-packed scheduled through Monday. You can read more here.

    I love that coat

    • SNAP says:

Yes, the coat is nice! I’m not crazy about the boots, but if they’re comfy…oh well.

    • LahdidahBaby says:

Yep, love the coat. Dislike the boots, although black knee boots are perfectly right with this ensemble…just not these boots.

  2. Guest says:

She looks fantastic. I knew as soon as I saw these pics the crazies from Twitter and some of the royal blogs would meltdown and say she called the paps or she is playing it up for the paps. Too “Hollywood” I think Meghan knows she damned if she does damned if she doesnt. So why not look like a million bucks and enjoy her last hoorah with her pals before becoming a mom.

At least she isnt wearing sunglasses, in reference to yesterdays post😉

  3. Harla says:

My goodness, she has some handsome security guards!!!

    • Rinda says:

I’m here only for the same thing. I’m loving the curly haired one.

    • YankLynn says:

Sarah and Moneypenny — me too ! when I saw that one picture when he’s at her side I was thinking, wait – what, James Blunt is at her shower !

But by the furor back in England apparently she should have crawled out to the car with a quilt over her head rather than stepping out onto the sidewalk with a smile on her face as she got in the car.

  4. Kikimee says:

If by people started leaking, you mean she told people and paps where she would be. Did anyone else see the pics of Natalie Portman leaving the same hotel with her family? It’s possible to arrive and be in NYC and not be seen unless you want to be

    • Kittycat says:

      Lol. Samantha are you mad?

      • Kikimee says:

Girlfriend is living her Hollywood fantasy finally – except I think she forgot she’s part of the RF and Is not a reality star.

      • Natalie S says:

By walking out of her hotel or walking into a restaurant?

She was photographed while not on an engagement and had a pleasant smile on her face = reality star?

She’s famous and people are interested in her. Why does that bother people so much? Why do they want her to disappear from public view?

There is a problem with approving some candids and then pushing back against other candids being released but that kind of behavior is a problem with the entire BRF. So we’ll have to see how that goes. Will and Kate had to figure that out when they spent Christmas with the Middletons ,and the royals had to work out their own arrangement when they used to take family ski trips.

      • Mac says:

Who cares if it is a pap stroll? I l like gossip about royal fashion so let’s see some more outfits! Plus, it’s nice to see that her despicable family and the tabs are not preventing her from living her life and enjoying herself.

    • TheOriginalMia says:

No one cares about Natalie Portman and her kids. People very much care about the Duchess of Sussex being in NYC. It’s a matter of what will sell. Exclusive pics of Meghan or Natalie. Meghan wins the popularity contest of 2019.

    • CHATNUH says:

So bitter, eh kiki? Yeah the Duchess is living and loving her life. And you? It burns, huh?
      Too bad so sad.

      • Bella DuPont says:

        😂😂😂

Chatnuh, you should be more sympathetic, it can’t be very easy if you want her to disappear, to keep seeing her pop up in new places looking sizzling hot…

        (Tiny violin… 🎻)

    • girl_ninja says:

At this point Natalie Portman is not Meghan Markle. The press and paparazzi wanted a photo of Duchess Meghan and baby sussex in NYC. Chill.

    • Olenna says:

@Kikimee, girl, I bet you had to type that comment standing up.

    • noway says:

OMG!!!! Right now Meghan is the just married pregnant new American born British royal, married to one of the most popular British Royals. You really think she can be anywhere for more than a few days without people knowing? To compare her to Natalie Portman at this point is laughable. Quick question, what big blockbuster or anything large has Natalie done lately? You won’t find anything. She’s barely had any blockbuster successes, (Thor/Star Wars), but if I mention them your first reaction isn’t Natalie Portman is it? Award accolades never get extreme popularity either. Now if you wanted to compare it to Kristen Stewart during the Twilight nuts faze. That is a closer comparison, but just like Kristen Stewart who couldn’t go anywhere without attention for a while it fads. Meghan’s will fade too. To think she needs to call paps is ridiculous. Look you don’t like her, and yet still you read about her, and don’t bother saying you do like Meghan that would be disingenuous. Imagine how the one’s who like her feel. Your logic is flawed.

      • Lilly (with the double-L) says:

@noway, thanks, I agree with all you said. The troll handbook (not just Meghan) is some form of “I love him/her, but…”

  5. Natalie S says:

I am just not down with her 80s style taste in boots.

It’s nice that her friends got together to spend time with her and have some fun before the baby comes. This is what her life used to be, lots of travel and meeting up with friends and going out to eat. And it’s a good sign that Harry is on board with all of this. He married a person with her own needs and likes and dislikes and doesn’t expect her to just disappear into the BRF.

Having barriers set up seems to annoy people who think its attention seeking but everyone knows she’s in NYC so better to have some order there. Give the press their photograph and then hopefully they’ll back off.

  6. Lily says:

Her hair looks great! Love how she’s repping British designers with her bag, coat and shoes

    • Lala11_7 says:

Yup…those pregnancy hormones go her hair thick…and GLOWING!!!!

    • jules says:

Hair, complexion, make-up are all gorgeous. She never looks overly made up. I’m sure a lot of it is good genes, but I would love to read one of those shallow articles about what beauty products she uses.

  7. Annie. says:

They have no events/interactions planned with the Moroccan royals… So this visit is more “informal” in a way? I mean, less state visit if you want. Interesting

    • Lily says:

You’re right, It’s a working visit, not a state visit. Check the British Ambassador’s twitter, he explains the purpose of the trip

    • Desolee says:

Would be awkward to visit the royals as the gorgeous Moroccan queen is gone/divorced without explanation !

  8. Oh No says:

I think it’s sweet she can spend time with her friends and be surrounded by people who she’s close with. I’m sure it’s hard maintaining friendships in her new role. I can barely manage with my 9-5…*sigh*

  9. Enn says:

Is it just me or has her bronzer been dialed way down in NYC? She does chic so well, and I want that bag.

  10. Abby says:

    She looks gorgeous😍😍😍

  11. Sassy says:

People are going to vilify her no matter what so why hide? We witness that last year she wasn’t seen out with friends at all and was working and still was labeled the “difficult duchess”.

    • BlueSky says:

Word! Seriously she cannot win. I’m sure her people made some arrangement with the photographers so that everyone gets what they want and everyone is happy. I’m sure a lot of this has to be palace approved but whatever let’s villify her because of this.

      • Becks1 says:

Yes – clearly these photographs were approved (or at least steps were taken to control the situation.) I don’t understand the narrative that she is some kind of Hollywood diva because of the pics.

  12. Tangie says:

Polo Bar…. it is a polo baby!!!!!!!!

  13. Seraphina says:

I can see her wanting to come back home and be with friends. And Megs is now at the point where she realizes everything will be frowned upon, like it was said above: damned if you do – damned if you don’t.

I would do the same- go back home and just relax. It isn’t like she isn’t doing royal duties, she leaves for Morocco at the end if the week right???

  14. Beach Dreams says:

She looks fantastic and it’s nice that she got to spend time with her friends. It was hilarious to see a certain fanbase up in arms yesterday when they’ve been radio silent about all the photo ops that have happened over the years 😂

  15. Adee says:

She seems more relaxed and less on edge in the USA

Hope her Harry and the baby will make a second home in America, it’ll do them good to sometime get away from some petty and rude British press.

  16. TheOriginalMia says:

I am so happy she got to spend time with her girls to relax and recharge. She looks great.

  17. mm11 says:

Living her best life and remaining unbothered.
People saying this is a pap stroll? And what about it ( a la Ariana Grande gif) nothing wrong with controlling the narrative, y’all want her to be reclusive or something. Bye!

    • Yahoo says:

Not sure she’s controlling the narrative by doing a pap stroll and partying in the US’ most expensive hotel room. I’ve got no problem with Meghan but she shouldn’t be surprised if her actions begin the demise of the BRF

      • Beach Dreams says:

“Begin the demise of the BRF”??? You are hysterical (literally). The BRF has survived ACTUAL scandals dear. This post and the previous one just show me more proof that the people clutching their pearls know little to nothing about the royals. You people are mad about Meghan being part of an institution that you barely paid notice before she joined.

      • Sid says:

With all the sleaze that has come from the BRF over the years, Meghan is going to be the START of the demise?

      • OriginalLala says:

I’m not a big fan of pap strolls but, let’s not exaggerate…nothing Meghan has done will bring about the “demise of the BRF” – The BRF are tacky celebrities themselves (see for example Randy Andy, toe sucking, tampon talk from Charles etc..etc..). if the worst thing she does is have a few pap strolls, she is doing much much better than the rest of her in-laws

      • Kara says:

LMFAOOOOOOOOOO OMFG, yes, members of the royal family used to be LITERALLY NAZIS, but Meghan going on a trip to NYC to hang with her friends before she has a baby will be their demise. Do you understand how unhinged you sound?

      • HK9 says:

The demise of the BRF?? Oh come on. That family has survived wars and bona fide scandals. Going home to see friends won’t shake the foundations. Because people throw out these hysterical statements it goes to show that nothing she does will ever be right. “People” will simply change the benchmark once she reaches it. The funny thing is, she’s isn’t and never was playing that game, which is what most people don’t realize. Take a breath and get a grip.

      • Flying fish says:

Pap stroll, yes. The cause of the demise of the BRF, no.

      • mm11 says:

Yeah I’m sure she’s going to be responsible for that lol

      • Himmiefan says:

But Andrew’s frolicing with under-age girls on Jeffrey Epstein’s island is okay and didn’t begin the demise of the BRF?

      • Natalie S says:

I thought it was when she wore sunglasses yesterday.

      • Becks1 says:

@NatalieS question. Which is the bigger scandal – Meghan wearing sunglasses or Obama’s tan suit scandal?

      • Natalie S says:

Well, they’re both attention grabbing and not befitting the user’s role so it’s a tossup.

For me, the real lowpoint was when Obama put mustard on his hamburger. And it was Dijon mustard which was a major snub to the American taxpayers. American mustard for American presidents!

      • Becks1 says:

It’s almost like Meghan and Obama have something in common, where people are constantly trying to prove that they don’t “belong” in their role/position. Hmmm…..what could it be?

      • noway says:

Let me get this all the beheadings and the killing of children in the early years of the BRF, abdicated King Edward VIII cozying up with Adolf Hitler, Prince Charles and the taped tampon conversation about his love for Camilla while married to Diana, Prince Andrew and his friendship with the sexual pedophile, and many more, but Meghan having a baby shower in NYC is going to be the death of the BRF? Seriously???? This generation of royals, even “lazy” William and Kate seem like girls scouts compared to the one’s before, and sorry I think as long as it’s a tourist draw they will survive. Having an American actress, plus a woman of color in it, only helps intensify the publicity. Sure the BRF may be smaller and get less money from the taxpayers, they’ll have to give up a castle or two. Still they will survive.

      • Bella DuPont says:

And after the demise of the land formerly known as Great Britain, She shall cause a second coming of the plagues: Locusts to devour all plants; Diseases and boils; supernatural or astronomical plagues, such as storms of fire or darkness; and worst of all, the merciless killing of all first born mice born in the land.

And so sayeth the prophet called Yahoo. 👍🙈

      • jennifer says:

i never understand this sentiment. There has never been anything MORE scandalous than the marriage/divorce of charles and diana. Sordid, sad, cruel and dramatic. ITs like people have completely forgotten about that era and its fallout

      • LivePlantsCleanAir says:

oh, please sit down. I’m beginning to think you’re a troll @mm11….

      • Snowflake says:

@Natalie, IDK where you’re from, but many areas in the US use dijon mustard. Some even put mayo *gasp* on their burgers. I’m from Missouri and love Dijon mustard. Please dont tell Fox News.

  18. Eric says:

When did the male strippers show up?

That’s a thing at a “baby shower” right?

    🤪

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Hahaha – if it was I’d so be at everyone i could get an invite to.

    • Peg says:

Man, you have a thing for male strippers, this is about your third comment on strippers.
Why not hire your own, or are you asking to be hired?
Baby Showers, are about having fun with the mom to be, silly games, food and catching up ith friends and family.

    • Olenna says:

Foolishness, LOL! If anyone missed Omid Scobie’s Valentine’s Day tweet, he wrote, “Alexa, play Pony by Ginuwine.” Magic Mike stayed on mind for quite a while after reading that!

    • Bella DuPont says:

      @ Peg,

You are so right, I have noticed the persistent hinting……

      @ Eric:

Why not just leave the link to an electronic flyer, I’m sure @Celebitchy won’t object! 🙈

(Just can’t resist lowering the tone 🙈🙈🙈)

    • jules says:

This is the best idea I’ve heard in a long time.

  19. Gigi La Moore says:

There is no pleasing those who will not be pleased.

  20. Sash says:

She looks soooo pretty. Glad to see she got some quiet time before the birth.

  21. Peg says:

From Omid Scobie, Meghan is having another small baby shower in London that Doria will be hosting.
So for all the folks that are wondering why Doria was not there yesterday.

    • Himmiefan says:

Maybe Doria has work commitments and/or didn’t want to be part of the media circus one word got out that Meghan was in NYC. Wonder if Kate will be invited???

      • Anna says:

I doubt it, Meghan wasn’t invited to Kate Birthday party.

      • notasugarhere says:

Why would it be odd if Meghan didn’t attend Kate’s party? We’ve never had stories of Harry attending Kate’s birthday party in the last seven years. The Middletons are not Harry’s inlaws, he doesn’t appear close with them.

  22. liriel says:

She looks great but I already see headlines “she chose Trump’s favourite restaurant”.
On one hand I’m like “YOU GO GIRL” because she’s independent Hollywood and owning it. Like really she looks real, not fake at all, not dowy-eyed. I LOVE IT. It’s also such a lovely fuck you!
On the other it’s a bit much, she’s making a spectacle when in reality it’s relatively easy to hide in NYC where so many celebs live unbothered. She’s a royal not a celebrity after all. It’s very attention-grabbing.
For me she’s a bit too showy but I’m so glad that KP and everyone has to deal with her but she’s such a force 😀 Finally someone they can’t really control, strong enough!

  23. FredsMother says:

Meghan has appeal. Lots of crowd appeal and the American media is being used to fight back at the British Old school Royal Press. The American media is happy to play along for exclusives for years to come. Camelot died and Trump is the worst. Here comes an American Duchess we can look to for some, clean, decent inspiration. Lol. William will not be happy. Carol needs to take out her media play book and start planning. The plot to sideline the Sussexes failed. The BRF should just embrace what she can do for them, push back on British media and play nice.

    • liriel says:

Please, let’s not drag Kate and Carole into this. They’re not evil, it was a W&H thing and Kate wants to bee seen as keen and down-to-earth but she definitely doesn’t want the spotlight on herself. Why don’t we laugh at William?

    • notasugarhere says:

Carole’s interview was an odd choice after all this time. Does she resent the public affection for Doria? As for Kate not seeking the spotlight? She’s sought it for 15 years, in her own way, and for her own ends. They had Niraj Tanna as their go-to and used to ask paps for photos for the Middleton family album.

      • Beach Dreams says:

I’m honestly surprised more people didn’t pick up on her shady comment towards Meghan in that interview. A seemingly offhand comment as she talked about her daughter’s royal status: “Being a royal is about more than making speeches”…when one of the biggest highlights of the Oceania tour was the 3-4 speeches Meghan made.

  24. Marjorie says:

There was a documentary on Princess Margaret on PBS recently – nothing Meghan has done or will ever do will approach Margaret’s shenanigans, which the BRF managed to survive.

  25. FredsMother says:

I am reading the ‘pap stroll’ comments and the ones about her behaviour not befitting The BRF. I think those comments are driven by a complete lack of knowledge about the BRF. This is not a dignified family. They have done some serious hair-raising things for hundreds of years. Nothing Meghan has done can lower the tone of that family. But millenials were never around at the time of Diana and Fergie. And certainly don’t know of Margaret, Charles and Prince Andrew’s antics.

Also millenials would not take the time to read anything longer than instagram post, let alone a history book.

And of course, there are the random white girls who are butt hurt that Harry married mixed-race Meghan.. Because you know, can’t have the Black people stinking up the Royal Press office… as one poster put it… let alone the BRF as an institution. So all this faux concern for the dignity of the BRF is unfolding.

The Black Princess 👸👸has them shook. Here comes the comments that she is not Black👑 and is not a Princess. Whatever let’s you feel good… 🤷‍♀️

    • liriel says:

Really it’s all about race? I think jealousy and other factor are always more relevant!

      • Bella DuPont says:

Sadly, race IS a big part of it. Even when they deny it.

      • liriel says:

It’s a pity. Frankly, I admit that I’m often at least tiny bit jealous of some people, can’t help it really even without a fault. If I was 13 I’d be totally jealous of Meghan that she snagged a hottie prince. It’s just crazy why race is a big point. like.. sex scandal that happened in another royal family, yeah, I can see that as a problem but race.. Sad sad sad.

  26. marina alig says:

Hi there! Long time lurker, first time poster!I really like reading your posts and your thoughts.Lately i feel a little annoyed though. You always say that people criticise MM because she is black. That’s not true!I’m criitical of her because i really don’t like the way she conducts herself.I see a very ambitious woman who couldn’t make it on her own and she married in…Now of course she is leaving her dream! She is really famous, she became someone who people all over the world recognize!Good for her!But it has nothing to do with the colour of her skin.I’m a white greek girl who leaves in Europe.I can’t immagine the oppression and the difficulties that black americans suffer every day but please believe me it isn’t always about race…And please don’t forget that racism can go two ways!

    • EMF999 says:

I’m curious; what is it about how she conducts herself that you don’t like?

      • Lilla says:

For me, it is because she proclaims herself a humanitarian with not much visible work to show, a feminist when she is famous only because of who she slept with, and a British royal family member who wears very expensive outfits for charity visits. To name a few. I also think she is so popular here because of her race.

      • marina alig says:

Too much acting in my opinion.I can’t see a person who is genuine and true to herself…She talks too much about self-discovery and self-improvement but i get the feeling that ll these re just words, well chosen words.I’m sorry i can’t express myself better.Again it’s just a personal opinion nothing more and i can’t stress enough that it’s not about race or skin colour.Kate Middleton annoys me too while i love Victoria of Sweden and Sophie of Wessex…

      • Natalie S says:

        I love Victoria of Sweden.

      • EMF999 says:

I can think of lots of examples to counter your comments, Lilla but I think other commentators have already addressed much more comprehensively than I ever could.

@marina alig – you expressed yourself well, and while I don’t necessarily agree, I respect your point of view and the way you have presented it.

The Hubb Community Kitchen though has to be mentioned. For me, that is a perfect example of how she just jumped in and got things moving.

        Long time lurker incidentally.

      • Marina Alig says:

        @EMF999 Thank you!Let’s agree to disagree!😊😊

      • Himmiefan says:

All we’ve seen so far is someone who has attended many royal functions and has done a good job at each. I don’t get what facts, again facts, there are to complain about.

    • GGgirl says:

      Racism can’t happen two ways.

    • Dee Kay says:

WTF trolls out in full force today. Weird.

      • Lorelei says:

Right? So many new commenters here this week. 🙄

      • Royalwatcher says:

Yep. They’re shook. Meghan is drawing huge crowds everywhere she goes (shades of Diana – yeah, I said it!), she’s charismatic, she’s working, she’s happy, she’s pregnant, and her husband is clearly gaga for her. Some folks are mighty upset. Is it wrong that I am soooo amused by it? I’m lapping up their tears and concern trolling and ‘I don’t see racism in how Meghan has been treated.’

      • Marina Alig says:

@RoyalWatcher Maybe you should give others the benefit of doubt. We are not all malicious. Some of us may be even honest but with a different opinion.I wrote my first comment because i didn’t like the label of racist just because i don’t like MM and i dare to say so.As a white girl i didn’t have to face the discrimination a black girl faces everyday in the USA or in an other part of the world. But maybe i faced another type of racism
Have you considered that? Those are really sensitive issues. Why bring them up while gossiping about the rich and famous who live the great life?Anyway if i offended you i apologise.p.s.Both Kate Middleton and Sophie were treated bad by the press. And you have to consider that when Sophie married in commenting wasn’t like the way it is now days.

      • Bren says:

Shook is an understatement. Duchess Meghan will not go away fast enough for them.

For as insignificant they claim Meghan is because she married the sixth in line, they sure devote a lot of time and energy discussing her insignificance.

    • Bella DuPont says:

      @ Marina

While I disagree with you 1,000%, can I just say thank you for expressing your viewpoints with at least a little dignity and respect. 🙏🏻

Truth is, we all see people the way we see them. Where you see an unsuccessful, insincere actress who got lucky, I see a vibrant, driven, intelligent woman who has used her gifts and made the best of them.

I also think she’s incredibly savvy and kind. I have a cousin who’s very similar to Meghan and many people believe she’s fake because she laughs so much and is always so bubbly. But she’s not fake at all, that’s just how she’s built.

Meghan feels similar to me. You either get her or you don’t. Fair enough.

      • Marina Alig says:

@Bella Dupont Thank you so much for your kind response. You got right my intention.I just wanted to express a different opinion with respect and without touching sensitive issues like discrimination o racism.I will tell you more.I’m here!I’m always open and i would be pleasantly surprised if MM proved me wrong in the future. For now i stand by my opinion.Thank you again!

      • Marina Alig says:

@Bella Dupont Well she didn’t get a nomination for an Oscar, did she?She wasn’t the lead actress in a blockbuster movie or a show in Broadway. She did good but not great!Anyway,i’m sorry if i offended you or other posters. It wasn’t my intetion.Really!Sometimes we just don’t like or don’t understand a person despite the color of the skin, the gender, the body weight ecc ecc.And sometimes it’s good to give others the benefit of doubt. We are not all trolls or malicious people. We just have a different opinion.

      • liriel says:

You know, extraverts are ALWAYS more hated because they like attention and we can talk about them. Hate to bring up Kate but she likes gardening, sport and staying home with kids. Booooring. Bring up Meghan and she’s colourful and so much more gossip worthy!

      • Lorelei says:

@Marina, I don’t necessarily think you are malicious or a troll, but you say some things that just aren’t accurate. To state that she didn’t “make it” professionally since she didn’t get an Oscar nomination is just preposterous! Do you realize how few actors are the kinds of big names you’re referring to? It is such a tiny, tiny percentage.

Most working actors never headline Broadway shows or blockbuster movies or get nominated for an Academy Award, but that isn’t the only measure of success. Meghan supported herself by working as an actress, had a steady income, endorsement deals, a lifestyle blog…maybe you didn’t watch her show or know who she was until she started dating Harry, and that’s fine, but it’s not fair to denigrate her for not being Angelina Jolie. Most actors would *kill* for her career.

The vast majority of actors registered with SAG (I think it is 95 or 99%) need to supplement their income by working other jobs, such as waiting tables. Which, again, is fine, but it’s not right to act as if Meghan was a failure as an actress.

I agree with Marina. However, the one I really like is Kate.

      • S says:

Marina I am 100% with you. You expressed yourself perfectly and highlighted a lot of the issues not just with Meghan but also with her ardent supporters.

Early on in the engagement period I remember reading an article that said extroverts would driven to support Meghan (and would be VERY vocal supporters) while introverts are more likely to support Kate (and less likely to vocalize). I wish I could find the article now because I remember thinking at the time that it made perfect sense and also helped me understand where the Meghan supporters were coming from (even if only a little).

@MarinaLig if you think for a second that much of the criticism has nothing to do with her race then you are in a place of deep denial. And if you self-examine and think her ambition is what irks you then you could use a lesson in feminism and sisterhood. And am not talking about white feminism either.
Ambitious woman is a thing to celebrate. They must be elevated. It is that Prince Harry saw her drive, intelligence, and hardworking nature and wanted that as part of his life. If a man or woman is threatened by ambition.. as though this was something dirty then, oh boy, in 2019 they should get help.

Also.. Meghan couldn’t make it on her own. Lol. Meghan made it on her own well before marrying Harry. She was a successful woman.. You think it is easy to be an actress or UN Ambassador? To graduate from North Western? Harry has not made Meghan successful and neither has ‘marrying in’. Harry needed a woman like Meghan and not the other way around.

Also the BRF can kiss the ground that a smart, savvy woman lol Meghan is willing to take up their cross. That family is nothing to marry into… Wealth, social status dies not equal class, decency and dignity. That family has not had those things for years. You look down on a woman who supported herself through honest work and aligned herself to charities well before her marriage.

This is gossip, right. But do examine your feelings about the nature of womanhood in general.

    • Natalie S says:

Isn’t that nice about Harry? He likes that she’s focused and ambitious. That’s my favorite trait of Harry’s, that he seems to celebrate other people.

      • Royalwatcher says:

Yes! And strong enough in himself and his masculinity to marry a strong, intelligent, hardworking woman who will challenge him and push him to be better. I love that he married a woman who will bring out his best.

    • marina alig says:

Oh i get what you are trying to say but i can’t agree with you..Everyday many young women graduate from prestigious schools. She studied like them and got her degree..Also i wonder was she really able to rise to the top of her profession on her own?I don’t think so..She was ambitious enough to persist and find another way to fulfil her dreams and needs. As i said before good for her!Great for her!But i reserve the right to express myself without being labelled as a racist because of her skin colour.Again i can’t even immagine the difficulties black americans have to face everyday but it’s not everything about race.I’m sorry. My english isn’t good enough so i can’t express myself better but i can ensure you that i would say the same exact things if she was blonde with blue eyes or a redhead with green…

      • Lorelei says:

@Marina: are you suggesting she is not actually in love with Harry, but married him to raise her profile?
That it is all to “fulfill a need?”

      • marina alig says:

@Lorelei I don’t really know.We don’t really know if she is in love.Frankly i don’t care.i’m not Harry. She she is not married to me.I hope so for her sake, for Harry’s and the baby’s sake that there are some nice feelings involved.I personally am not so sure that she didn’t have a plan about her life and with determination and blind ambition she succeeded..But it’s just an opinion. That’s all!

      • Bella DuPont says:

        @ Marina,

“Also i wonder was she really able to rise to the top of her profession on her own?I don’t think so…”

Can you please discuss this in a little more detail? What are you suggesting she did to make it to the top of her profession?

      • MA says:

This is an out of date understanding of racism and as a white person you’d be best served by reading up on the topic before speaking on it. The racism of today is people in white hoods, burning crosses, and openly saying they hate black people. One of the ways modern day racism is manifested today is by people trying undermine the achievements of a black person, and to make the ordinary things they do out to be nefarious. Look up the term “unconscious bias.”

      • Marina Alig says:

@MA I’m sure that you know what you are talking about.Maybe from personal experience. If that’s the case i apologise if i touched a sensible issue to you.But I can ensure you that there is racism and discrimination among white people too.Among people in general.I just wanted to point out that it’s not always about that! It’s just gossip! It’s just about a feeling we get,an idea we have observing the ‘rich and famous’.

      • Royalwatcher says:

@Marina Alig – of course it’s not ALWAYS about racism…but when there IS racism, there is nothing wrong with pointing that out and talking about it. So when people try to minimize the racism being directed toward Meghan, other people – rightly – get frustrated or angry about it. If some people can’t see that Meghan has been treated differently to Camilla or Kate or Sophie then IMO they need to really do some self-examination.

It’s also so bizarre to me how people are so quick to firstly point out they are not being racist…and then go on to say a bunch of questionable things. If you’re not a racist you don’t need to constantly point it out because it will come across with the things you say and the way you act. I’m sure you’ve heard Shakespeare’s quote: ‘the lady doth protest too much, methinks?’ So whenever someone keeps telling me it’s not about race or they are not racist…IMO they are giving themselves away. On some level (maybe unconscious) it IS about race.

      • Serpentinefire says:

        @Marina please stop, really stop.

  28. FredsMother says:

Lol. Continental European speak.. Racism can only truly exist where there is lynching, men in white hats and use of the “N” word. Having worked in a European law firm surrounded by people like @Marinalig and suffered tremendous indignities like the belittling of my achievements and questions being asked how a black woman got her position at a prestigious continental firm I do not suffer her type of racism and I do not apologise for touching a nerve.

I do not tolerate this passive aggressive white woman speak of I am not racist, feel sorry for me while I express my racist bias while appearing to be sweet as pie.

And I really do hope this comment is not blocked.

Denial of racism is a thing that many Continental Europeans do. Only Americans or British can be racist, they think.

And the absolute nerve to actually state that discrimination a white woman faces in any way compares to the degrading, indignifying, treatment black woman face every day is disingenuous. Do not feel the need to treat @MarinaLig to apologies. This is blatant manipulation. Pity, lilly white me while I say offensive, racist things… my English is poor, you see.. Lol. I see you. I know many women like her pull this sympathy crap so they get to express their racism.

The suggestion that Meghan, a back woman got where she is because of some sleazy, nefarious, immoral activity is what @Marina is implying. Clear as day!! And it is racist!!!! Call her out on it. Do not apologise to her. This is the position I and other black women are out in every day.. Having to apologise to racist women like her. I am livid. Offended. Upset. And hope this comment is clear. Her behaviour should not be tolerated or excused. That you can’t see what she is doing can only be excused by the fact that many of you do not know what white girl racism manifests as in Continental Europe. They feel threatened by any ambitious, self-actualusing black woman and that sense of insecurity lashes out in casting terrible assertions on a black woman’s moral, motives and her climb up. This is racist and please do not fall for it.

    • Marina Alig says:

@FREDSMOTHER I’m here to “manipulate” you more…I’m sorry that you had such a bad experience in Old Europe, really sorry but please don’t speak of me as you know me and please read more carefully my comments.I explained the reason i don’t like MM.It has nothing to do that her mother is a black woman and that makes MM a BIRACIAL woman. So i respectfully refuse the label of racist. That’s all.I’m sorry if you don’t get me.It happens all the time among strangers who exchange opinions in internet.Breathe and let go!MM would love that!😉And please don’t instigate other posters against me.Firstly they can decide for themselves and secondly i don’t plan to continue my comments.I’m grateful that i had the chance to express my opinion but i’m clever enough to know when to stop.

      • Diplomanatee says:

You’ve all been very polite and thorough while responding to Marina, because she spoke in a polite and thorough. Whatever the contents or opinions, THIS is what makes this comment section great. Congrats and let’s all keep it up 🙂

Just wanted to share that racism/discrimination is different everywhere. Awful people will be awful everywhere, they’ll always find ways to “otherize” others or belittle someone to bring themselves up. I’m Mexican. I travel a lot. The worst experiences I’ve had, of discrimination, have been with other Latin Americans. This was hard even for me to believe, but it happens everywhere.

    • Mego says:

Diplomanatee – polite whitesplaining is still whitesplaining at the end of the day…

  29. Mego says:

The Daily Fail gives a detailed cost breakdown of her trip. Her friends are verrry wealthy so it’s chump change to them but the Fail wants to make something of it naturally.

    • Lorelei says:

It’s so gross. Did they do a cost breakdown of Kate’s many, many trips to Mustique?! I’d like to see those numbers.

      Sigh.

    • Olenna says:

Disgusting. I haven’t read the Fail in months, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s deplorable commenters think the private, American funds should’ve been donated to charity or them. That POS rag really knows how to tune up it’s base (which is oblivious to being manipulated) and get the clicks, cha-ching.
