Jason Momoa shaved his beard for the first time since 2012: still hot or nah?

I know many ladies don’t like Jason Momoa’s “wild man” aesthetic, but I’ve always enjoyed it. I like that he marches to the beat of his own drummer sartorially and with his personal grooming. The man apparently hadn’t shaved since 2012, but he decided to finally take a razor to his wild-man beard in the name of environmentalism and raising awareness about plastic. He posted a video where you get to see him shave as he looks around at all of the plastic litter.

Beardless Jason is still hot, to be fair. Beardless Jason could still get it, and he’s honestly just a very attractive man in general. But Beardy Jason is still my favorite. Beardy Jason looked like he would be an animal in bed. Beardless Jason looks… well, like he would still be good in bed, but maybe he would also annoy you by making goofy “jokes” right after. Also: HIS PANTS in this video. That’s like a whole other conversation. He owns bold black and white striped pants. He wears them with an army jacket.

He’s super-earnest though and I don’t hate it. It’s just another reminder that we’re really f-cking up this planet.

Heresy to even ask that question

In one day he’s going to have scruff and look like this again https://images.app.goo.gl/ffbwWC8bYUUNVZRF7

  2. Veronica S. says:

Huh, it really does completely change a man’s face. Gives him a more youthful look, that’s for sure. Put his hair down, and he’d still be good looking, but I admit I like the scruff on him better.

    • whatWHAT? says:

younger, and “prettier”. have you seen pics of him younger, like when he was modeling and on Baywatch? he was gorgeous, but “pretty”, not dirty-smokin-hot.

eh, I’d still hit it. the man is so good-looking and yes, STILL HOT.

    • Ravensdaughter says:

I love that you can see his gorgeous smile even better! I’m not a fan of beards, though….

  3. Daisyfly says:

As a woman married to a hot af Hawaiian man myself, Jason can get it all. Night. Long. Bearded or not.

  4. broodytrudy says:

That’s a no from me, dawg.

  5. Lucia says:

Sorry but beards really do it for me. He is 20% less attractive without the beard.

So many actors out there who are way less hot when they shave.

  6. Jay says:

Ive never found him hot LOL.

    • sommolierlady says:

Me neither. I’ve never understood what people see in him.

    • Bella DuPont says:

Yeah….I’m ambivalent about him…..some days it’s a “meh”….other days, I could easily get arrested for depravity.

So it’s a comme ci comme ca from me.

  7. Mia4s says:

I assume it’s for filming Dune. Sigh….I do like Jason and he’s certainly more than good looking enough for the character he’s playing…but I really think they needed a MUCH stronger actor for it if they want to do the whole story. Sorry not sorry!

Oh well, at least it’s going to be a pretty movie.

    • Kiera says:

Please tell me you are in the dune Facebook group! I keep mentioning this movie to people and get the blankest stares. Especially when I then have to explain I named my daughter Leta in reference to Duke Leto and Leto II. Yes my husband and I are nerds.

      • Mia4s says:

Not on Facebook at all anymore, but I do like that name! (And I would have gotten the reference. 😁) Momoa is super-charismatic; but Duncan’s arc is beyond tricky. I’d love to be proven wrong but nothing I’ve seen of his acting makes me think he’s the guy for this.

While they have a crazy interesting cast, I am just hoping for a great first movie because I have serious doubts about Dune catching on with the mainstream/general public at “blockbuster” level. It’s soooooo weird. Anyone who has ever said Star Trek or Star Wars (both of which I love) were a bit too much for them? A bit too weird or strange? Or are just casual fans? Those people will run SCREAMING from Dune. 😂 Momoa or not!

Fingers crossed though, it would be great to have a high budget, high level production of the full saga of Dune.

    • Kiera says:

Well hopefully they lean into the real source material and don’t use fucking weirding modules. What were those. I think people are more open to it than they realize. I mean look at GOT, that is basically a soap opera with dragons. I love it don’t get me wrong, but I feel very secure in saying that someone ducking their unknown aunt happened in Days of Our Lives.

My hope is that they Momoa is a better actor than we all realize because Duncan’s role going forward is by far the most interesting character arc I have ever read in a book. I can see him bringing the levity and fighting skills to Duncan in Dune, it’s the conflicted relationship with Aria and later Leto II that becomes concerning.

Oh I am so happy to have found another Dune nerd!

    • knotslaning says:

I thought the same thing. Momoa is fine but they definitely needed more acting power for this version of Dune. It may be sci-fi but it is dense, excellent material. I’ve actually never enjoyed anything Momoa has been in so I just hope he brings it or they have really great direction.

My BF has just a minimal beard/stache combo. He shaved it for the first time in about 12 years just to impress me. And honestly– hes having to grow it back now cos… just …. nah. Its not him without it.. it s in fact somehow just far less “male” without it- when you get to know a person for looking that way its like impossible to embrace them without it

    • Kate says:

Do you watch Schitt’s Creek? There was an episode where that happened and the girlfriend’s reaction was hilarious

    • Venus says:

My husband shaved off his beard once, and looked just like his brother, who I loathe. Lying next to him in bed was extremely wierd.

    • Mia says:

I always liked stubble on a man’s fan. Would go to the drive in with my grandparents to see Clint Eastwood westerns. Grandpa went for popcorn and grandma would get very vocal about her appreciate for Clint. There’s probably were my love for stubble came from. My late grandmother would have ran away with either Clint or Sidney Poitier

  9. rose says:

Never been remotely attractive to me .

  10. Case says:

Not really attracted to him either way, but he seems like a good person. That counts for a lot.

  11. Miss M says:

    Swipe left.

  12. KBeth says:

    I’d still hit it : )

  13. Baby Got Back Fat says:

    He’s even hotter now!

  14. Lucy says:

He looks great! Even a bit younger (not that he looked old before).

  15. PlayItAgain says:

    Still. Hot!

  16. My3cents says:

The only way I would actually hesitate is if he shaved off his other beard.
    Yes, yes, and yes.

  17. Eliza says:

I can’t watch video. But using a razor with plastic parts to shave off beard to bring attention to plastic is very confusing.

    • Snowslow says:

I thought the same thing. Still is a good message at the same time as he is doing what we all do: the best he can.

    • Agirlandherdog says:

I think the difference is, an electric razor is not single use plastic. Since he hasn’t shaved since 2012, I assume he probably borrowed it from someone who will use it for quite some time to come. The point he’s making is people need to cut back on using single use plastic. Plastic water bottles, plastic cups, plastic straws, plastic bags. Or is you feel you must use them, for the love of the planet, recycle them. I have no children. I do not have a vested interest in preserving this planet for future generations. Yet, I constantly pull plastic out of other people’s garbage, out of public garbage cans, in order to recycle it. It hurts my heart to see people toss a plastic water bottle in the trash because they can’t be bothered to recycle it.

      • Eliza says:

But why shaving? I think it’s the combo. Shaving =/= plastic waste in my head. Shaving with plastic razor talking about plastic waste is also odd, even if borrowed is just odd.

    • styla says:

Are you serious? Oh I can’t save the planet and reduce my garbage because it can’t be done 100% perfectly at all points in time. This is the mentality thats killing us.

  18. Sayrah says:

Still hot. My husband has had a beard for around 2 years now. I wanted him to shave at first but now I like it. Last night he said he thinks he’s going to shave for summer and I didn’t like the sound of that.

  19. Grouchie Grrl says:

He looks like a presenter on a travel show now. The sexy devil vibe has gone. Still good looking but not *hot*

  20. CES says:

Still hot. Still would do him given the opportunity.

  21. Anastasia says:

He’s still hot, but I do prefer a beard on him.

  22. Grant says:

So, so, so hot. I think he looks better without the wild beard. He just looked way too dirty to me. I like a little scruff but not full-on greasy face pubes, which is what he was working with before.

  23. Usedtobe says:

I’m so not into the beard fad that is a thing these last few years. HOWEVER, Jason was the exception and I think it’s because well, he’s super hot. He still looks freaking SMOKING hot though.

  24. Anya says:

Definitely a no for me. But if he likes it, he should keep it. I, however, will forever mourn his bearded look… until it comes back.

  25. Renee2 says:

I keep thinking about possible risks of Alzheimer’s from the aluminum, but there studies disputing this. Plus, there are links between plastic consumption and cancer.

  26. Harryg says:

Much better but no he’s still not hot.

  27. Eve says:

I don’t find him attractive at all. Bearded or not.

  28. Shelley says:

Of course he’s STILL hot! What an offensive question. (Sorry, but people get all PC about everything and anything on this site – so today, this is where I share my outrage 😉

  29. SpilldatT says:

I know ppl love him, personally he doesn’t do anything for me.

More for you Momoa-loving ladies I guess LOL

  30. Gigi La Moore says:

    Not hot either way.

  31. Lauri says:

I work at a county jail and when I saw this I thought “what a hot inmate”!!! LOL! either with a beard or not, I’d still spend a shallow hour with him.

  32. K says:

Much hotter with the beard. Regardless of facial hair, he’s above-average good-looking (mainly because of his stature, muscles and pretty eyes), but the wild hair look makes him more memorable. The pants are dumb.

  33. WineGrrl says:

I really like the look of beards, but don’t like kissing a man with a beard. It’s like kissing a hairbrush. Maybe the bearded men I’ve kissed didn’t use conditioner, or something.

  34. Doodle says:

What a beautiful man! I’d hit it all day, every day!

  35. Barfly says:

Am i the only one who feels like his eyes look in 2 different directions?
