Well, Kate Hudson and Alex Rodriguez have made it official: they’re dating. And by “made it official,” I mean they’ve made out in public, which is synonymous with sending a press release to Page Six. Apparently there were rumors floating around that Kate and A-Rod were just good buddies (perhaps friends with benefits?), and I’m guessing that’s what lead to the need for a heady public make-out.
A-Rod went 0-for-4 Saturday - but he made it to first base anyway.
The randy Yankees slugger and stunning actress Kate Hudson put on a very public display of affection for the first time, locking lips during the team’s annual family picnic.
Hudson, 33, was also spotted giving Rodriguez a big squeeze as the lovestruck pair canoodled following the Bombers’ loss to the Oakland A’s.
A-Rod’s focus wasn’t just on his flaming hot new gal pal. The Yankees star also spent time playing with daughters Ella, 1, and Natasha, 4, who were dressed in their Yankees best.
Notably absent from the family fest was A-Rod’s ex-wife, Cynthia Rodriguez, whom he divorced last fall.
The very public smooching puts to rest rumors that Rodriguez, 33, and Hudson are just close friends.

While I jokingly said they were making out, to look at the Daily News pictures it’s pretty damn tame. They’re lips are closed and very, very tight. It’s the exact same way you’d kiss your relatives. I don’t claim to know how they were kissing a second before or after the Daily News’ photo was taken, but it doesn’t exactly scream “Unbridled Lust!” to me. More “We better do this fast before that photographer walks away!” Not that I think they’re “just close friends,” the encounter just looks a little stiff and forced to me. Nonetheless it’s nice they’ve acknowledged they’re together - that’s what non-relative kissing means for celebs, closed mouth or not, right?

I didn’t know Kate was actually capable of love- just like I thought all her man friends are just that “friends with benefits”. A-rod is a sleaze in real life- so I guess she doesn’t care who she sleeps with - as long as he is famous and athletic - and likes to snort coke with her- whatever

Yankees Family Day is a private event in a private venue so hardly the public event gossip sites are making it out to be.
The only people who witnessed the day are team employees, a few beat writers finishing up stories in the press box and I guess a NY Daily News sports photgrapher who decided to sideline as papparrazzi for the day.
No other pictures from the event have been released of any other players and if I was the Yankees, I’d pull the Daily News Photographers credentials for a few weeks for crossing the line.

*IF* they’re in love, they probably instinctually leaned in for the kiss and then remembered everyone was staring, and dialed it down a notch. That’s happened to me. I want a kiss but not for everyone to see.
