Lindsay Lohan’s Mykonos beach club is over & her MTV show is canceled too

Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club

Last year, Lindsay Lohan began to hype her Mykonos business, Lohan Beach Club, and her MTV reality show of the same name. Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club eventually aired on MTV to mediocre ratings and terrible reviews – it was a cracked-out version of like four other reality shows. I tried to watch some of the first episode and it was awful and an unwatchable mess. It’s no surprise to me that MTV has decided that she show doesn’t need another season. Also not a surprise? That the whole beach club fiasco seems to be over a year after it started.

Lindsay Lohan’s MTV reality show, “Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club,” will not be back for a second season, Page Six has exclusively learned — and it seems the star’s Mykonos nightclub, which serves as the setting for the show, is also closed. The club opened in May 2018, and the show — which follows its staff’s daily lives — premiered in January to decent ratings. But viewership then plummeted amid less-than-stellar reviews. The Hollywood Reporter called the show “vapid and tedious.”

“There was a renewal idea that producers hoped would perk it up for a second season,” said a source close to the production. “It would be turned into a show about Lindsay and [her mother] Dina and [sister] Ali, [but] that wasn’t going to happen.” The show didn’t have “enough drama,” the source added. “They wanted ‘breakdowns.’ That’s not where [Lohan] is at with her life anymore. Their personal business doesn’t need to be aired on television; it’s already in the papers anyway.” Another source close to the network said it’s still trying to salvage the show.

Meanwhile, a phone number listed for the Mykonos club on TripAdvisor wasn’t working when Page Six attempted to call. Another number listed on the club’s website connected to Lohan Nightclub in Athens. A source told us of the apparently defunct Mykonos club: “A friend had reservations this week, and the club just called and said that they will not be opening this season.” Another source vacationing in Greece last month told us that the club wasn’t open then, either.

“The locals said it was a waste [of time to go],” said the vacationer. A social media commenter posted last month of the Mykonos club: “They advertised being open for [the] summer season, specifically late May. We drove past and it’s literally [deserted] . . . The Lohan sign is stripped off.”

A Lohan rep confirmed that “she is not doing another season” of the show. MTV didn’t comment.

And so ends another cracked out Lohan adventure. A beach club which shuttered in a year without telling anyone, and a reality show that no one wanted. I don’t even buy that Lindsay doesn’t have enough “drama” in her life right now – as I said last year, it feels like Lindsay is currently just as messy and dramatic as she was eight years ago, she’s just changed locations. Even People Magazine had sources saying last year that Lindsay is still drinking a lot and that she’s hasn’t changed at all. And remember how she harassed that refugee family – as she filmed it – and tried to abduct the children? That happened last fall. My point is that Lindsay is still a giant catastrophe but MTV somehow didn’t get that footage.

    You don’t say….

  2. Tanguerita says:

now she can finally concentrate on getting that Oscar.

    • Eliza says:

That she was going to get before 30?

    • Meg says:

God i remember that-she was on Leno right after one of her many rehab visits and he asked her where would you like to be in a few years and she said hopefully back here talking about an oscar i just won. Seriously? [Try u cant even get insured to work on a film let alone win an oscar
I remember robert downey jr being asked if u had to work with anyone paris or lindsay who would it be and even after his addiction issues he said ‘neither’

  3. Michael says:

What a waste of a fairly talented young actress. She really has nobody to blame except herself either

    • VintageS says:

      And her mother.

      • Molly says:

        and her father.

      • CheckThatPrivilege says:

Given her awful parents, her genetics, and early fame, I feel like she never stood much of a chance. It’s been very sad watching that play out over the years.

      • whatWHAT? says:

nah. Drew Barrymore was in the same boat, with a fame-hungry mother who lived vicariously through her daughter, encouraged the bad (drinking, drugging) habits, etc.

and Drew DEFINITELY had issues, but she faced them, got better, and then “did her time” building her career/resume back up. she didn’t continue to live the party life after she ditched her mother, like Lohan did. she made a choice to change. Lohan did not.

I don’t buy it when people use their parents as an excuse as to why they’re still in a bad way. maybe that’s part of how you GOT there, but once an adult, you have no excuse as to why you STAY there. Lohan had OPRAH wanting to help her, FFS. and she STILL couldn’t get her sh*t together.

Whenever I need a good jolt of schadenfreude, I just look up Lindsey Lohan articles. Bless her heart.

  5. lisa says:

she should try and get some small acting roles to build up a good work trail. This trying for instant fame is not going to work. I feel bad for her. I just do.

    • Tanguerita says:

Why? she is an undisciplined wash-up who has never learned to accept responsibility for her actions. There are hundreds of talented actresses out there who work hard to get there small acting roles and i cheer for them. She’s had more chances than anyone out there and blew through all of them.

    • Erinn says:

I’d feel bad for her if she didn’t constantly try to blame everyone around her. She’s literally grabbed a baby from someone. She’s stolen things and blamed it on the black guy (which I still don’t understand how she got away with, because wasn’t it Suge’s son?). She’s done so many awful things – and if it was just about self-destruction I’d feel bad. But it’s not. She’s a horrible horrible human being, and until I see some actual growth, I don’t have any real sympathy for her.

    • minx says:

She doesn’t have the discipline to do that. She would have to really work.

    • Jenna says:

Working in movies would mean a Mischa Barton-style career, so a whole ton of on-demand thrillers and horror movies, and I don’t think she’d ever do that. She’d think that beneath her. And she doesn’t have the discipline either. I remember when she had an agent again around 2012/2013 and she was on 2 Broke Girls and Eastbound & Down and taking meetings with Warner Bros (I think she had a meeting about Man of Steel?) and apparently she just wouldn’t do the work and mingle or network. She doesn’t realize that she needs to make amends and demonstrate that she can be responsible, sober and reliable. That’s the only way Robert Downey Jr and Drew Barrymore did it. And she’s already had so many chances, burned so many professional bridges and blew them all.

I think the next thing she’ll do is get married to a very wealthy man, probably someone in Dubai, have a couple of kids and be a trophy wife. I imagine it’ll cover most of the bases that she craves.

      • Monicack says:

Trophy wives are super strategic, work to head charitable events, network, micromanage the kids’ schedules, meeting with couturiers and interior designers, co-chairing galas, oversee household staff in multiple countries, cater to their partner’s every whim and maintain their appearance with rigorous diet, exercise and cosmetic work. Lohan is nowhere near this standard.

      • olive says:

one of her last films was very mischa barton, on-demand thriller style… “i know who killed me”? where she was a stripper with a twin?

      • minx says:

Agree that LL would probably love to be a trophy wife but I can’t see some rich man taking her up on it.

      • Tiffany :) says:

I agree, Jenna. Small roles wouldn’t work for her. She’s pretty much uninsurable. She doesn’t show up on time, she makes outrageous and costly demands, she doesn’t learn her lines…essentially, she costs money. She doesn’t bring in money, so I highly doubt a legit production would take a chance on her. Even when she did the soft core thing called The Canyons or something, she couldn’t bother to show up on time.

She has no redeeming qualities as an actor.

    • Carol says:

@lisa – me too. I’m glad she is not doing a reality show with her mom and sister, whether it was her choice or not. I hope she gets it together – maybe being out of the spotlight might do her soon good. I really liked her and its sad to see her all liquored up or whatever.

  6. Digital Unicorn says:

Colour me shocked said no one ever.

Guess the line of old wealthy men willing to fund her has dried up….

  7. Amaryis says:

All she’s ever done is blame other people for her problems.
She’ll be dead before she’ll ever take responsibility for her issues.

  8. Kate says:

In light of #metoo and the Jackson documentary, I am looking at these messy former young stars with more empathy. They were basically handed over by their families into a lion’s den.

    • Harla says:

I agree. It seems that so many of these former young stars have such sad stories with no family support and no one acting in their best interest.

      • Swack says:

Lindsay had many, many opportunities and people behind her. Oprah tried and helped her and Lindsay couldn’t even put in minimal work. So I don’t have any sympathy for her at this point in time.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

You can be a victim and a terrible person, Lohan is both.

  9. JanetFerber says:

Kate, yes. Also, we know the bar of “awful” is far lower for women than for men (Chris Brown, woman batterer and stalker has a number one record now). I think Lindsay is a self-saboteur and she should go into therapy and rehab.

    • Swack says:

Lindsay has been in rehab and/or counseling at least 5 times. She has been in jail, on ankle monitors for alcohol and has blown every chance she has been given. That is on her and no one else. Even Oprah couldn’t help her.

  10. Sharona says:

My God, that header picture is really giving me ‘Sunset Boulevard’ vibes! I’m willing to bet she WILL end up like Norma Desmond!

    • VintageS says:

Exactly what I was thinking. “I’m ready for my closeup.” Yikes.

      • (TheOG)@Jan90067 says:

Ha!! I came here to say the exact thing! That was my VERY first thought, too! lol

Sigh… it’s just sad. In some ways, I feel that with parents like hers, she really didn’t stand much of a chance. Then again, there are MANY people out there that come from abusive backgrounds that manage to turn their lives around, esp. with rehab/therapy. LL has had SO many people try to help her, and she spit on it all.

  11. eto says:

I wonder how expensive it was to apply that weird filter to Lindsay’s face in every frame…

    • KL says:

They can be bought as a software package and added to footage while it renders, so it’s easier and cheaper than you might think. The more expensive ones are more selective — they only track the face, or they add SOME texture back in to trick the eye and avoid the uncanny valley effect — and I don’t think those were used here as her earring almost disappears into the pattern of her shirt.

But those are some heavy-duty filters, man, her face loses 90% of dimension and almost looks like a flat surface in the first and third screengrab…

  12. stacey says:

She really is a walking Anti-Drug/Anti-Drinking billboard

  13. shanaynay says:

They created that beach club for the purpose of the show. it was never it’s own entity. When the show failed so did the club.

  14. jennifer says:

Huh, and I didn’t even know the show and the club were a thing. Oh well.

  15. FluffyPrincess says:

Not surprised, and don’t feel sorry for her. She had lots of opportunities to fix her issues and she just believes that she’s an A-List star and doesn’t want to lift a finger to change or help herself.

  16. SuperStef says:

Sad to admit I actually watched some of her show. She did to do much but show up randomly and talk about her “brand”. Her partner did most of the work, seemed like such a strange business.

I don’t feel bad for her because she’s made her own choices and has had so many second chances that she just wasted. She seems lazy, entitled and unable to truly take responsibility for herself.

  17. TiaMaria says:

I watched the first few episodes and it was so tragic/unwatchable and I’ll usually watch anything! I had my honeymoon in Rhodes earlier this year and was going to go to the bar/club she has there but the locals told me not waste my money on that garbage!

  18. Dee Kay says:

I just saw (some of) The Parent Trap on a hotel TV for the first time and Lohan was absolutely charming in it, as both twins. I also loved her in Mean Girls. But a handful of hits as a child and teen does not guarantee anyone success as an adult in the industry. I remember seeing Lohan in a horrible Elizabeth Taylor/Richard Burton biopic a few years ago and she has retained none of her onscreen charisma or acting skill. It’s not just that she doesn’t show up to meetings or to the set ontime — all the things that made her stand out as a performer seem to be gone, now.

    • Christin says:

Her screen presence was so different as a child/teen. Such a cautionary tale of how lack of discipline, substances, etc., can greatly alter a person.

She is the only unrecognizable Mean Girl cast member.

  19. Christin says:

I watched a few minutes of the first episode and wondered the same thing as when I see a current photo of her. How can this be the same charismatic, fresh-faced person who did Mean Girls?

I’ve been asking that question for at least 10 years.

  20. Norman Garza says:

I think Hollywood has been very kind to her for years, she has gotten chances and more chances of success in the industry by the fact that she was a top star in the early to mid noughties. Executives and fans alike stuck by her were others of less stature might have been deemed less employable by studios and fans more likely to cancel. I think after years of movie execs and stans looking the other way and holding their nose, they have just about had enough of her and her bad attitude. Not even the trash dump that is MTV of Teen Moms 2 fame can take her anymore and her long suffering fan base who have forgiven her so many times are finally turning on her.

  21. Danielle says:

I’m sad to say I PVR’d all the episodes and enjoyed the show 🙈

    • Beegirl says:

doesn’t feel bad girl, i did the same thing! did you fell cheated too that there was no reunion ?! Panos was everything. he needs his own show! i could go for another season or see the “ambassadors” that she picked doing their thing in Greece. i’d be here for that. too bad!

  22. Nicole says:

Pains deserves a show. He was perfection!
