The other thing to remember is that back then women wore "foundation garments." And most women didn't look like either Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn, just as most of us now don't look like actresses of today. But you're right that women were encourage to be thin. But I don't think she needs to be too meaty. They have a reat variety of body types on the show and in the 60's there were very thin women too. Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn (50's-60's) were very thin. I know my mother and her mother were pressured to remain thin by my grandfather ... I don't think all women were meaty. They had a very mean attitude towards fat back then too... It's not like Marilyn Monroe was never critisized for being larger. My dad always said he didn't like her very much cause she was "bigger".
