I can’t find the original source for these comments by Daniel Radcliffe, so I tend to think he must have said this during some kind of Harry Potter presser. Everybody’s favorite wizard sort of goes off on nudity and being naked. This kid is a constant amazement to me – I find him so charming and interesting, but this interview seems very Shia LaBeouf-esque. Daniel talks about how he grew up “walking around naked” and how he’s “seen my mum naked, seen my dad naked…I don’t actively seek to find them naked, but it’s never been a particularly big deal.” I love that part – where he says he doesn’t “actively seek to find them naked”. Daniel is such a funny young man, it hurts. I can almost see this kid shaking with anger as Puritanical America cowers in fear of the full frontal.
Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has admitted he grew up “walking around naked” in his house. The 20-year-old actor said that nudity was never an “issue” in his household and he later stripped off for his stage role in the play Equus.
He said: “I grew up always walking around naked, well not always, but it was never an issue in my house. I’ve seen my mum naked, seen my dad naked. I don’t actively seek to find them naked, but it’s never been a particularly big deal.”
However, Daniel admitted he doesn’t believe that it’s an easier thing for men to be naked on stage than women.
He said: “There’s this whole myth that it’s easier for me to get naked on stage than it is for women, which is absolute crap in my opinion. If there’s a naked woman on stage, that’s fine, the guys are happy to see a pair of t*ts.”
“As a man you feel like you’re being more assessed which is frankly not the way I’d choose to have my assessment done; in front of 2,000 people every night.”
Daniel also said that his Equus co-star Richard Griffiths has seen him without clothes more often than his past girlfriends.
He said: “I’ve now come to the worrying realization that I’ve been naked in front of Richard Griffiths more than any of my girlfriends!”
Daniel admitted he doesn’t want to be the kind of actor who lets fame go to his head and he has started helping out on set.
He said: “You hear horror stories about actors having hissy fits, but you don’t need to do that. I want to be a different type of actor. I want to help, do stuff. Jackie Chan helps move sets; I have started trying to do that, to pitch in.”

One of my favorite quotes of all time about male nudity came from Ewan McGregor. Ewan was talking about how he’s naked in so many films, and he said, “I love it. I’ve been naked in quite a few films. It’s for the sisters.” Why do I get the feeling our little aspiring feminist Daniel Radcliffe feels the same way? He’s already gone out of his way to defend his “sister” Emma Watson - and I tend to think Daniel feels that male nudity should be treated the same way as female nudity. I love this kid.

I think it is definitely a cultural thing – most of us Europeans are much more comfortable with our bodies than the Americans I live among. (sweeping generalisation, I know!) I have to be honest though, I don’t ever remember seeing my parents naked.
My children have certainly seen me naked – heck, my older son (13 at the time) was at the birth of his younger brother (who at age 6 is never happier than when he is wandering around the house naked!

god-i cant even count how many times i have seen my parents naked. i grew up in alaska taking saunas all the time with a whole bunch of nude adults. its not a big deal at all. even to this day when I go back to visit and go swimming or to the gym with my mom, we go naked in the steam room or shower room. i cant see why nudity is at all interesting for any reason.
edit: kimble-I was at the birth of both of my brothers! put me off having kids for a while! best. birthcontrol. ever.

I’m from Europe and yep, have seen my parents naked plenty of times, too. Us kids would play naked in the front yard and it was never a big deal, for anyone. You don’t see that kind of relaxed behavior here much, it’s a bit sad. And Daniel Radcliffe is just such a cutie. His interviews are actually a blast to read, which is a nice change from your average celebrity interview.

No, no no….not comfortable with that at all. I never saw my parents naked and thankful I didn’t because that’s not a visual I would want permanently etched into my brain!

I’ve never seen my parents naked. It was always treated like a taboo thing, so I suppose it’s no surprise that seeing my grandpa walking around in his briefs made me extremely uncomfortable. LOL

Interesting…i’ve seen my mom but never my dad. Both he and the character are growing up. I think he’s great in the Harry Potter movies! http://www.mediancs.com/rd_p?p=186122&t=9534&a=8707-celebitchy&gift=8707

#11… I’m sure he’s terribly embarrassed to have earned so much money by this age. You’re so right that it’s lame that he got a good role when young and was good enough at it that he wasn’t fired. And really, a super popular film franchise that follows a super popular series of books, ultimately spanning a 7 year timeline? What a dumb idea… I mean, the highest earning movie franchise of all time?! Bigger than Bond, bigger than Star Wars – you are so right. What a pathetic achievement. You must be so relieved that you don’t have anything to do with it, huh?
