Why did Hulk Hogan give Linda such an “outstanding” divorce settlement?

2006 MTV Video Music Awards - Arrivals
Hulk and Linda Hogan are finally divorced after what seems like forever. They both have put on a big show of moving on – he with a hybrid Linda/Brooke girlfriend and she was a creepy-as-hell 20-year-old friend of her son Nick. Linda got a huge settlement, though the amount hasn’t been released. But according to Pop Tarts, they former couple was worth somewhere between $26 million and $32 million, and she walked away with the bulk of it.

Why? Well Pop Tarts says Hulk still loves Linda, though we think his earlier “pulling an OJ” threats against her might have played into it as well.

After a long, very public proceeding, Hulk Hogan and former wife Linda Bollea finalized their divorce and reached an undisclosed settlement on Monday evening. While the terms were not made public, the couple’s net worth in 2008 was believed to be between $26 million and $32 million (as filed in court) and it sounds as though Mrs. Bollea walked away with quite the bulk of funds.

“Linda received an outstanding settlement result and I think both parties had compromised but Linda is extremely happy with the settlement,” her attorney Ray Rafool told Tarts. “It was bittersweet and it was also a relief and as Linda said, in every grey cloud there is a silver lining so I think for both of them, they were very relieved to be on the same page and they were very relieved that they would have this chapter of their life behind them.”

And it turns out that Hulk was the one who reached out to his wife of 25 years to make peace.

“Hulk is the one that originally came to Linda and said lets try to put this whole case aside and lets resolve this, essentially Hulk was the one that came to us with this peace offering which we gladly accepted,” Rafool added. “He said he still loves Linda and he’s happy that they’re forever getting this resolved. These people are business partners now and will be business partners in the future.”

While the divorced duo will still have a professional relationship, the semi-retired celebrity wrestler still wants some sort of personal relationship too.

“Hulk is looking forward to moving on with his life and is very hopeful that he and Linda can maintain a friendship and work together as parents to their two children,” a rep for Hogan told Tarts.

I find it confusing for a man who claims to still love his ex-wife to also say he sympathizes with OJ Simpson. That comment really got Hulk in a ton of trouble, and it’s hard not to wonder if perhaps that played into his supposed generosity. Maybe due to guilt and remorse, or maybe Linda used it as leverage against him. I mean how many people agree to giving their ex-spouse the “bulk” of their estate randomly? Even if it’s to make peace… it’s still hard to buy.

Considering Hulk’s girlfriend looks like a combo of Linda and his daughter Brooke (creepy as hell, but whatever), it’s certainly possible he still carries a torch for her. Or maybe he just wants to look good in the public eye again and thinks this is all it takes. It’s obviously not going to get him what he wants, and I think it’s safe to say Hulk’s going to regret it in a month or two when that becomes clear.

  1. Hulk was egged on to say what he said about OJ–he didnt just think of it and say it, someone asked him about it and he responded with a horrible answer.

Considering what he phsycially went through to make that money I don’t think its fair if she got more than half.

  2. Heh. I have a temper, and so does every member of my family. So I don’t have difficulty understanding how one could say something terrible in anger to someone they love who hurt them. In fact, it makes his comments make more sense. It doesn’t make it okay, but it is understandable.

  4. @HEB I agree it may not be right, but if they are in a communal property state (ie. California-i have no clue where they are)she is entitled to half under the law.

However bulk leads us to believe more then ahalf, i don’t know why he agreed to that…though the OJ comments were damning, he could have recovered.

  5. He gave her most of the money because in the upcoming civil suit by John Graziano(the person riding with Nick during the car crash) who is paralyzed for life will win the civil suit. Hulk Hogan will be sued because the cars were in his name, so he will pay out big and can always reconcile with Linda( as planned) and get his money back. Once they get back together the money will be his/hers again.

  7. Hulk is truly a gentleman and still does love his wife. This is evident to anyone who knows him. I feel bad for him because the media has portrayed him to be a monster which is far from the truth. I think peace and happiness means more to him than wealth.

The comments made by lord7131 are WRONG and not true. Linda was sued individually in the civil suit so she has as much personal exposure as Hulk does.

  8. There is also the possibility that he agreed to a big lump sum payment in lieu of alimony, since I think that he has more of a chance of making millions in the future than Linda does.

  12. I think anyone going through a nasty divorce should be cut a whole bunch of slack for whatever he or she says during that time. If someone would have put a microphone in front of my face or wanted to interview me during MY divorce, there is no TELLING what I would have said. In fact, I think that OJ shit would have been MILD compared to what I would have come up with. I think it’s great when a divorcing couple can manage to not flip the fuck out on each other- people who can take the high road deserve props. Not everyone can do that, though… I know I couldn’t- therefore I can’t hate on him for what he said. I can, however, strongly disapprove of his hair. I know it’s all iconic or whatever, but that doesn’t change or excuse the fact that his hair is just… it’s not ok.

  13. A couple of things really bother me here - first of all, where did they get all that money? My spidey sense always tingles around him, making me think he was/is into drugs or something else illegal. I have a hard time believing his celebrity made him all that money. And that thought leads into my second thought - I also get a sense that he is hiding money (possibly illegal money)somewhere and didn’t want Linda to get any part of the hidden stash. Anyway I look at it, it doesn’t look right or add up.

  16. Ms. Hogan got more than half for the same reason ALL divorces are so expensive, THEY’RE WORTH IT! The divorce NOT the ex wife! (clarification is for the benefit of liberals)

  17. hoghaulers: please clarify, if you’re able: liberals don’t like divorce or think it is worth it? I thought conservatives were more against divorce and pro-sanctity of marriage and it was the liberals who were eroding the institution of marriage. or is that that only liberals value ex-wives while conservatives can better see the cost/benefit ratio? your so very interesting statement begs further analysis.

  19. Now that they are divorced he will lose the bulk of his money due to the civil suit. I live in Clearwater and believe me both of them are losers when it came down to the accident. He loses in this because the cars were in his name and not Linda’s. They will sue her but not for that much, the graziano family is going after him because he was very uncaring after the accident. Linda gave Johns mother a condo to use rent free and Hulk stopped giving her money so she had to stop paying on the condo and Johns mother is upset. They will get back together, it will just be after all the dust settles and the suits are over. If you lived down here you would know.
