Michael Sheen wants us to know he was single before he met Anna Lundberg

Michael Sheen seen arriving at Global studios

Last year, Michael Sheen dated Aisling Bea, a rising comedian and actress who is UK-based. Aisling is young and pretty and just his type. Sheen has famously never been married, but he’s been in a string of serious relationships, from Kate Beckinsale to Rachel McAdams to Sarah Silverman. He broke up with Silverman when he moved from LA back to the UK. Many thought Aisling Bea would be the new serious relationship, but reportedly they were over by Fall ‘18.

Then, last month, we heard that Sheen had impregnated his 25-year-old girlfriend named Anna Lundburg. He’s 50 years old and… they had basically only been dating four months when the pregnancy announcement came. Maybe five months, if I’m being generous. The point I made was that the whole relationship with Lundberg sounded inappropriate for their respective ages and how little they actually knew each other. But apparently some people thought he was, like, two-timing Aisling Bea WITH Anna Lundberg. Well, Sheen has something to say about that:

Well… okay but when did he actually start dating Lundberg though? I know it’s not any of my business, but since he’s providing a partial timeline, why not be thorough? Anyway, I guess the thing with Aisling Bea was either just a fling or… they actually did date but Sheen just I-Don’t-Know-Her’d in a public forum. Either way, sure, I’ll buy that he was single when he met a 25-year-old woman and got her pregnant within a month. Sure.

Does he not normally respond to “this kind of thing”? If, so, why now? I mean…he’s not THAT famous. This is minor gossip story at best that would come and go. So what’s the deal?

Look, there was clearly an “oops” and now they’re making the best of it. Hardly the first time in history. Getting defensive won’t help, no one believes this was something planned or not…a bit of an issue. Doesn’t mean the baby won’t be loved and taken care of. Calm down Michael. Maybe talk to Jude Law…doesn’t he do this on a semi-regular basis? 🙄

    • Digital Unicorn says:

He’s either trying to get ahead of a story coming out or the stories hit a nerve (as in there was some overlap with his previous relationship). Its rumoured he’s a cheater.

“Maybe talk to Jude Law…doesn’t he do this on a semi-regular basis? 🙄”

      Haha!!

Yeah, the world will keep turning but thanks for the Sunday morning gossip bit, Michael.

    • Beth says:

I would bet it’s upsetting Anna and he’s trying to reduce some of her stress while she’s pregnant

    • MeganBot2000 says:

It’s only minor to us because we’re voluntarily reading about it second hand in a gossip blog that we can click away from when we get bored. Nothing is “minor” when it’s your actual life.

I bet anything Michael is being harassed on a daily basis by tabloids, and that both women are being harassed. Would put money on it.

My partner is approximately .0001% as famous as Michael and he had to take legal steps to protect me from certain situations involving fans and possible newspaper ‘scandal’ and I guarantee if any of you heard about it you’d go, “I’ve never even HEARD of either of those people why do they think they’re important enough to need protection from obsessed fans and the press?”

    • ichsi says:

I honestly wouldn’t be that surprised if it was about Aisling. Her new show came out this week, she’s doing a ton of press, and they’re probably all asking her about this. I can see him trying to set this straight for her.

  2. Kateeeee says:

He is gross and I still love him. Let that peen wander, Michael! They’re both adults and the baby will be well provided for. Though I do understand him trying to be respectful of his instant family by saying this was not funny business (any funnier than impregnating a person youve likely just met, but that’s their business!)

  3. Enn says:

I mean, he could have knocked her up on the first go.

I do think it’s weird that he was in extended monogamous relationships with Rachel and Sarah but didn’t want children or permanace but now he’s having a baby with someone he’s known for 5 minutes.

    • DS9 says:

I think the most obvious answer is that the other ones didn’t get pregnant.

This one seems like an oopsie that they’re making the best of.

    • Anne Call says:

He has a teenage daughter by Kate Beckinsale. I just can’t ever see this guy the same way after the hideous and annoying character he played on the Good Fight. And I’m looking forward to the tv show with his ex girlfriend. I love Sharon Horgan from Catastrophe.

Twenty years ago my husband and I had only been dating a month when I got pregnant with our oldest. We knew each other and had been in the same social circles for a couple years, but not at all well. Like saw each other once in a blue moon with that group. We weren’t that different than Sheen other than the fact that I was 18 not 25 and my now husband was 20 not 50.

We got the same shit. We got all kinds of rude comments and assumptions about us because of it. Are we fucking lucky that it worked out and we’re happily married 20 years later? Yeah. But the point is we’re happy. We were scared shitless back then, barely knew each other, and were too young to know if we even wanted kids. But we made that choice and we’re happy with it.

Sheen was adamant about not wanting more kids because he already has an adult daughter with Kate Beckinsale. That position didn’t change with any other of his relationships – except this one. He could easily have ditched her. She could have had an abortion. There are so many scenarios in which he could be still relatively child- free, except he’s not. They’re still together and choosing to do this together. Who knows if the relationship will last. But they’re both grown-ass adults, know what they’re doing, and both of them (even she at 25) have enough life experience to do this. Not like my 18 year-old stupid ass. Some of these comments are gross.

    • DS9 says:

      I agree wholeheartedly.

    • Original T.C. says:

There are always exceptions to every rule. Antidotal examples don’t affect the reality.

    • Savannah says:

      @MRSBANJO
You’re just defending it cause you feel attacked. However, being 18 and 20 is not the same as 25 and 50.
And obviously it wasn’t as easy to just “get rid of her” or her “having an abortion”.
He had an ooopsie and falls into every cliché a 50 year old manchild would fall into, and now he’s trying to save his ass.
It’s weird that a man that age with that stance wouldn’t have gotten a vesectomy, but I guess he – like soooo many men – feel like birth control is the womans responsibility.

  5. Suzieq359 says:

I’m sure he is saying this because the pregnant woman wants it addressed. Most women don’t want to be known as the other woman.

Obviously he wasn’t too serious about not wanting more kids. If that were the case he would have gotten a vasectomy by now. At minimum he would be using condoms. But who knows. And just because we don’t see kids with Rachel or Sarah doesn’t mean the relationships didn’t produce pregnancies.

  6. SJR says:

That beard is truly nasty looking. Shave would be good, it ages him terribly.
As for his personal life? Do not care much. He can provide financially so the baby should be well cared for, etc.
Btw, MS, if you really do not want children..the vasectomy is your answer. Make an appointment.

  7. Oh-Dear says:

I don’t understand how so many celebrities/wealthy people (especially those who say they don’t want kids) can have such poor pregnancy prevention.

    • DS9 says:

And I don’t understand this line of thinking.

No birth control method is 100% foolproof. The most commonly used methods aren’t as effective as we tend to believe. You have a 20% chance of pregnancy without birth control. It’s only reduced to 13% by condoms, the only method a man has control over short of abstinence or a vasectomy.

As far as we know dude has gone over 20 years without a pregnancy. I’d like to know how anyone would look at that and call it poor pregnancy prevention.

      • Oh-Dear says:

such as vasectomies for men who are sure they don’t want more kids, as Michael Sheen has been consistently saying for a long time. But if he was sure, there are multiple methods to be used at once. The bigger curiosity for me is that he is willing to take a chance of pregnancy with someone he knew for a month. That is the aspect of these stories that I find intriguing on many levels.

I had originally written a post that included a caveat for the failure rates of various methods, because they do happen, but I thought it was too long so I took that out. I should have kept it in.

      • Kk2 says:

Ok these numbers are being misrepresented.. You have 20 percent chance of pregnancy per month without birth control (per year something like 90 percent). Condoms have a failure rate of something like 13 percent per year (when used as exclusive birth control method), not per month. So it’s 13 percent vs 90 percent, not 13 percent vs 20 percent.

  8. Cinnamon says:

He’s an actor so he is is probably pretty self-obsessed. I think he is bothered by being such a cliché and thus wants the world to know that at least he did not cheat on anybody.

  9. MeganBot2000 says:

He’s currently playing Chris Tarrant (yes, *that* Chris Tarrant, Brit quiz show fans) in a TV miniseries. Intriguing casting.

  10. India Rose says:

His interview on David Tennant’s podcast was fascinating. I kept wanting to say, “Pause. Take three slow, deep breaths, Michael.”

Side note: David Tennant’s podcast episode with Olivia Coleman was a delight. He’s charming and she comes across as genuine and down-to-earth. (They starred together in Broadchurch.) His real-life nickname is DT and hers is Collie. They were such a joy to listen to! He seems genuinely interested in his guests and is a great interviewer.

    • Ally says:

Agree, that was a fun listen. Was that the episode where he mentioned his high-fibre breakfast? Prunes were involved, I recall!

  11. Betsy says:

That double breasted coat makes him look like a broad hobbit.

  12. Mustlovedogs says:

    I get major Hobbit vibes

  13. Caitlin Bruce says:

Well aisling was dating Andrew Garfield by early March. She posted a photo of her and Michael in January of this year? Maybe they stayed good friends or maybe they stayed friends with benefits. I guess it depends how long he’s been with this new girl. But I mean he did draw way more attention to it. People were more mad at the age difference than his relationship status.
