Cindy Adams: The Sussexes ‘might get shipped to Africa as their semi-permanent home’

Trooping the Colour Ceremony, London, UK - 8 Jun 2019

As I continue to say, the plan for the Duchess of Sussex is already in place. It’s been in place for almost a year, and many people have already begun to initiate the plan. The plan is Send Meghan Away. The plan is Get Her Out Of The Country. The press, the royal family, the aristocracy and the royal courtiers are all trying to bully, demean and denigrate Meghan into leaving the UK. They would prefer if she divorces Harry and goes back to America – that would suit their narrative quite well. But if that doesn’t work, they’re hoping to make her presence in England so toxic that the only other option is “sending her off” somewhere in an official capacity, to live for several years.

I’m not saying that is what Meghan and Harry want or see for themselves. I’m saying that this is the plan that appeared months and months ago, when Meghan was pregnant and suddenly Prince William and his courtiers were hatching a scheme to exile the Sussexes in Africa. William didn’t want to send them to Canada or Australia because they would still overshadow him there. So William – with a lot of help from the courtiers – thinks it would be better to send the Windsors’ first biracial duchess to Africa. Why are we still discussing this mess? Because it’s still in the air, and obviously, the Bully Meghan Out Of The Country plan is still in effect. Page Six’s gossip columnist Cindy Adams had this curious and awful piece:

Harry and Meghan are not liked. But treated like rock stars. The following’s from one with ears to Europe’s royalty, who has poured such juice before and not proven wrong. Lacking independent connection to London’s kings, queens or those who make aces of themselves, and minus Her Majesty’s personal cell number, I now report what’s reported to me.

Prince Harry and Mrs. Harry might get shipped to Africa as their semi-permanent home. Not because he mumbles he feels most happy and comfortable there and it’s his favorite place — as if the bush beats Bond Street. But recall history. The ’30s. The abdicated Duke of Windsor’s divorced American duchess who was a pain in the realm? They got bounced to the far-away Bahamas because they shook Buckingham. Too much stress. Press. Distress. Same here. Now. Is what I’m hearing.

There is the Harry and brother William problem. ‘Tis mumbled it’s all become a bit heavy for not-so-swift Harry. His onetime drama queen missus creates drama. Wanted to give birth at home, not in the as-always assigned hospital. No immediate photos of baby Archie as is palace routine. Not cutesy cozy with others of Buckingham’s high-class upper class, thus shoving far off to Frogmore. Used to spotlight, the wife’s not doing great playing a main attraction at the palace.

Members of Princess Diana’s former household staff see everything, know everything — tell everything. The Africa assignment, they say, could be “interesting.” Stories keep coming. Like disliked is the new wife. Like Harry’s not thrilled with her lavish spending on designer clothes. Like his old-time, longtime buds do not adore Meghan. Like, forgetting all the p.r. hoo-ha, the whisper is banishment to Africa — where she becomes an extra, not a leading lady — could do them in.

[From Page Six]

While Cindy Adams is an a–hole with all kinds of agendas, I don’t doubt that her “sources” are saying all of this. An American Twitter friend traveling in England a few months back said something similar, that there was a buzz among the upper crust and well-connected that Meghan is not well-liked and that they think she’ll divorce Harry at some point very soon. That’s how they justify bullying her and smearing her, so it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy – they believe she’ll get bored and get tired of the smears, so they continue to smear her until she’s tired of it. So, yeah, I believe that there is a plan to exile Meghan and Harry. Whether they’ll agree to it… who knows.

Ha! I’m popping some popcorn when that happens because the backlash from H and M supporters will be HUGE. Trump HUGE!

But the BRF is not only time deaf but completely clueless of the optics in regards to all their actions. Which to me really boils down to not caring. They know they have money and power so eff everyone.

    • Rae says:

      Africa…

The xenophobes couldn’t even muster any originality.

I wish I could disown my own country at the moment.

      • StarGreek says:

Feeling the same, not very original eh? A bit like saying 4 PoC Congresswomen should go back to where they are from.

The racism is so blatant and so flung into our faces in UK that I am becoming more and more against the monarchy. When QEII dies I hope that’s it.

      • Nahema says:

I hope for the end of the monarchy too but I can’t see it coming for a while Maybe once William is King.

      • De says:

I am..baffled… The comments here are that the people of England are racist, of course they are, their whole country is built on it. Remember when Harry wore a Nazi uniform to a fancy dress party??? If anyone he should know how wrong that was! But somehow that’s forgotten by all of u. The mere fact that Megan has married into this racist, genocidal, disgusting royal family shows just how much she doesn’t give a crap about her own race. How on earth could someone bow down to the Queen as a proud black wkman knowing what that family has done to millions of her race? U choose who u marry. She made the choice to slap millions of people of African race in the face.

    • M. says:

How insulting! What they are insinuating is that countries in Africa don’t have modern technology so Harry and Meghan will become obsolete. Do they not realize African countries have news stations and the internet? Too much xenophobia and racism.

      • mk says:

do they (whoever “they” are) not realize that Rupert Murdoch (and other tabloid owners) will send their hacks wherever the Sussex Royals are to continue their vile and racist posts for clicks?

    • Carole Hansen says:

The British have their reasons and it is not getting out to the US public. So that is why Harry and Meghan are more popular in the US . I also doubt that William is the source as nothing is done without the Queen’s say. She is all powerful. It is sad that William and Harry are no longer close. Diana would be disappointed!

      • Lorelei says:

@Carole what are the other reasons that we haven’t heard about in the US?

      • kerwood says:

Is one of the secret British ‘reasons’ that they’re racist as hell?

      • noway says:

I don’t believe this story at all. Sure it may be a floating story, but even now if the Sussexes wanted to move to Africa the optics would be so bad. They are definitely in the UK for a few years now. Also rumors like this grow legs of their own. I mean the upper crust of Washington DC had Trump resigning and working out a deal so his kids wouldn’t go to jail in NYC last year. I heard that story so many times it almost gave me hope. He’s unfortunately still here along with his motley mentally deranged crew.

I have a few questions why is Page 6 American based gossip columnist so into this story? Plus, do the Brits really not like the Sussexes or especially Meghan? Not the tabloid or RR, but the people of Britain? Just curious cause that could be a bit disconcerting, cause the people who really hate Trump are his New York city neighbors, who know him well. Now with Meghan it would be a bit different cause she’s had all this bad publicity and you can’t diminish the racist crap, but still it would be bad for the Sussexes. Also, if “they” think she’s going to divorce him then why do they care where the Sussexes are?

      • Tina says:

Meghan had 49% popularity in the latest yougov poll. That’s down from last year, but still ahead of Charles, Camilla, Anne, Edward, Sophie and of course Andrew. Top are Queen, Harry, William and Kate.

      • himmiefan says:

This is ridiculous. What exactly has Meghan done? She’s done her engagements, bought expensive clothes (which all of the other royals have done), and…..and? Seriously, H&M just need to keep on with their engagements and the truth will come out. People are already pushing back on the RRRs (Racist Royal Reporters). As for moving, no one can force them to move, frankly not even the Queen.

      • Elisa says:

ITA that the queen AND prince charles are OK with all of this as otherwise they would have intervened at some point. This mess has been going on for years now!

      • MrsBanjo says:

Please, Carole, enlighten us to these “reasons.” Explain to folks in the US what exactly it is that we’re missing. What evil is Meghan plotting that we’re not privy to that they would want to “ship her off” to Africa.

      • Megan says:

Damn, maybe Pedo Andy is going to have to talk to the police. This story was ridiculous on the first go round, and even more ridiculous now. BP is scrambling to get the focus off of Andrew.

    • Yami says:

What I don’t understand if this is supposed to make the public default to liking Katrina and Bill more? Oh well, H&M are gone now so we might as well think that these folks that do practically nothing are the epitome of working royals. The damage has been done, there’s a new way ahead. If Harry and Meghan choose to base themselves in an African country, a developing country, they might do even more good, gain even more popularity, cement their legacy. The people who truly care about maintaining the status quo are the racists and the old guard. They can’t, won’t see the way the wind blows.

      • noway says:

I think initially when Harry and Meghan were dating the monarchy did try to stop it with the statement that was released by Harry. It didn’t work. Then the White Markles took up a lot of air with their special brand of negativity. At least they seem to be gone from the media now. I think the Queen and the monarchy which rarely ever directly address these concerns, may not know how to stop this. Sure they addressed it with Andrew, but it was a prepared statement then the ride to church with the Queen, which pretty much backfired. The Queen has done the photo ops with Meghan too. It just doesn’t seem to work. People still see a feud with Kate and Meghan, even though they’ve done everything but sing kumbaya together. I mean even the most trivial story seems to blow up to gargantuan proportions with them. It’s sad really.

  2. Who ARE these people? says:

What a horrible piece of writing, from its insensitive use of the word “shipped” to its ignorance of the real problem with the Nazi-sympathizing Duke of Windsor. And that’s just from skimming the piece.

    • mia girl says:

She carefully and purposely chose all those words. Intent is crystal clear. It’s appalling.

    • Still_Sarah says:

She got the history all wrong. The Duke of Windsor gave up the throne to marry Wallis Simpson and AGREED to leave Britain as a condition for this. None of this applies to Harry.

      • Who ARE these people? says:

Yup. (Though he was still a Nazi sympathizer)

      • Tina says:

The DoW agreed to leave the UK, but then WWII intervened and he and Wallis couldn’t stay in France (we will leave aside Wallis sending an employee into occupied France to collect a swimming costume). They then returned to England, but both of them (especially Wallis) passed information on to the Germans. Therefore they had to be exiled to the Bahamas, to keep them from committing more treason.

It is beyond an insult to compare Meghan to Wallis. Meghan has never done anything at all wrong as far as I can tell, let alone commit treason to her country.

    • Seraphina says:

Oh wow. I completely lost the awful verb that was used. Oh wow. And then they throw temper tantrums that it’s not racist based. Yeah ok.

    • Bettyrose says:

It’s also literally a horrible piece of writing, as in horribly written…unless it’s supposed to sound like the rantings of a Batman villian?

      • Lorelei says:

She’s always had a ridiculous style of writing, but this is over the top. I honestly didn’t even know she was still alive. She’s been a dinosaur for as long as I can remember.

      • Mira says:

To me it looks like she wrote her piece and then randomly changed the place of at least a couple of words in each sentence. I found it quite hard to keep up with what she was trying to say but maybe that’s just because English isn’t my native language.

      • swirlmamad says:

I can’t even fully process what she is trying to say. Horrific writing style.

      • Jaded says:

She must be 100 years old. She’s always been a vicious bitch but her writing style seems to have disintegrated into self-parody. It’s like Kate McKinnon doing a take-off of her on SNL.

      • Frida_K says:

She is a latter-day Rita Skeeter.

    • Nic919 says:

Did Stephen Miller write this for her? The level of racist vitriol in this piece is astounding.

  3. Cidy says:

I think this is a bit… silly. I really, really doubt that William wants to send Harry and Meg to Africa. I also dont think TQ would allow that to happen or Charles for that matter.

While I think William likes control, and power – i dont think he likes attention. I think he wants to quietly control things from inside, and he can continue to do that with both Harry and Meg around.

I really think most of the smear campaign isnt coming from the Cambridges, I think it’s coming from the palace but not from them. I also think its just that racism is alive and well and Meg is unfortunately, despite all the good she is doing, a prime target.

I hope they dont divorce. I really hope they dont, but also – I wouldnt fault Meg one bit if she did separate from him, that wouldnt stop the smear campaign against her but it would allow her some freedoms back. But I see that they are very much in love, and hopefully they are strong enough to get through this together because let’s be real, Harry isnt leaving the royal family.

    • Beli says:

I don’t know… The Cambridges’ new and conveniently papped “budget flight” to Scotland suggests that they’re happy enough to add more fuel to the smears when it benefits them.

      • Toot says:

        Yep.

      • Mignionette says:

EXACTLY – I would say that William is right at the heart of this smear.

      • Cidy says:

I definitely agree that they have some shady times getting papped, times that do benefit them but I don’t think they are the ones running to the press. I think that they are doing just as much harm by staying quiet though, and letting M and H get thrown under the bus without defending them

I would like to see Meg and Kate are more events together and Will and Harry together more to present a United front.

      • Vania says:

        @Cidy
Sorry but I don’t want to see Harry and Meghan near the Cambridges never again. Better alone that with those two snakes.

      • Erinn says:

Or they’re afraid of getting hit in the same way. I mean, I think self-preservation is probably their goal here. I think a lot of the time they don’t care or read into the criticism, but SOME things do stick, at least temporarily with them. They want better press, just like anyone else.

I also don’t believe W&K would want them gone. If the argument is that W&K hate how popular H&M are whenever they tour, why would they want them to go to another country and help bring attention to initiatives there? Why would they want them to have that kind of attention if they hate the attention they get? Getting them out of the UK would only be temporarily beneficial.

      • Mego says:

I’ll give Kate a pass on the budget flight. 1. It’s better than a private jet or helicopter whatever the motivation and 2. She likely doesn’t want to get dragged like Harry and Meghan did. Also a brief flight to Scotland on a budget flight is no great hardship.

      • Nic919 says:

Taking the budget flight isn’t the problem but granting permission to be filmed is the issue here. The paparazzi could not have filmed them without their permission and the airport’s permission to even be on the property. I can’t give them a pass for that behaviour. And perhaps it’s just William and Kate couldn’t stop him, but Carole is the one with the direct line to the DM, so they are all a part of this DM exclusive.

      • Megan says:

I highly doubt Meghan and Harry gave the paps and the airport permission to photograph Meghan and a woman who may be their nanny in Nice. It seems more likely the paps knew W+K wold be leaving from his airport and staked it out because a photo of them getting on a commercial flight or a private flight would be equally valuable and keep this non-story gong for another day.

  4. Darla says:

Wow. So Cindy Adams is still alive. Now that is news.

  5. lanne says:

This is just, once again, the racist courtiers showing their racist asses. Cindy Adams is a fossil of an old bat. Her connections, she says, are Diana staff. Ahem, Diana staff have been out of the loop for more than 20 years! They know nothing. Shut up and go back to the 1980s, Cindy. You got nothing.

    • Iknow says:

I said that too! Diana’s been dead for over 20 years. What staff?

      • Chaine says:

I bet it’s her sketchy butler that hoarded scads of her belongings and pops up every so often in the press to give unsolicited advice to William or Harry about what Diana would have thought.

    • himmiefan says:

Exactly, they know nothing, except how the press treated Diana, so do we think they’d really talk to Cindy Adams?

  6. Citresse says:

I like that navy blue outfit MM is wearing in the carriage.

  7. Toot says:

If they do go to Africa to live, I don’t see how this will stop the global interest in what they’re doing. I hope they can settle somewhere away from those UK vipers.

Whoever hatched this plan is stupid. Africa has the same world access as the UK.

Meghan is stronger than they think.

    • Spicecake38 says:

I think they would receive even more attention if they went to live in Africa.I think it would backfire, and that M&H would do great work there.

Obviously the article is written to sound demeaning to them, and I think it’s a racist bunch of garbage to suggest that they have no control and just be …Sent away? Not good, point taken.
Still,if I were them I’d go just about anywhere to be away from the mess that is the not so royal family.

    • himmiefan says:

I just wonder if they’re creating their own profile, shall we say, working on their popularity so if when Will becomes king and tries to shove them aside or cut them off, they can leave and keep doing the work they love, but live on their own terms. If they’re popular enough, they can.

  8. Beli says:

The BRF once again showing that they’re living in the past and in some alternate colonialists world (shocker).

They have the internet in Africa, people! Exiling H&M won’t make them disappear!

  9. Abby says:

This is hideous. It makes me sick to my stomach. I would not want to be Meghan for all the tiaras and money in the world. 🙁

    • mercury says:

This is just a guess, but are you white by any chance? Black people deal with this on a daily basis. What should we do: end our lives? We live with adversity and make the best of it because that is the card we were dealt with.

  10. Mia4s says:

Wow, racists gotta racist I guess?

First thing; Africa is a continent. Care to narrow it down a bit Cindy or are your sources to ignorant? And a large percentage of Africa is thriving and modern. Dismissing it as the “bush” is gross.

Second? If they want to blather on about a “Wallis Simpson” connection? They were married for 35 years until the Duke died. So fit that into your narrative.

    • Spicecake38 says:

Yeah Edward and Wallis seemed to have quite a lovely lifestyle and happy marriage,so being compared to them as a couple isn’t the worst thing really.

      • Tina says:

They were also Nazi-supporting traitors, so it really is a bad thing to compare Meghan and Harry to them. Meghan and Harry haven’t done anything at all wrong (since they became a couple).

      • Spicecake38 says:

Yes,my bad I was thinking about their homes, their dogs ,not trying to compare M and H to them in the nazi traitor kind of way.

      • ex-Mel says:

Edward and Wallis’s lifestyle has been compared to a “permanent vacation” – and it is well known that David/Edward HATED it. Who wouldn’t? (Well, Wallis didn’t.) They remind me of two castaways clinging to each other for dear life. Which, in a way, they were.

    • Betsy says:

Isn’t that there a faction of Wallis supporters who say she didn’t really want to be married to him, that he fell too in love with her and she then felt responsible to stick with it? I swear I’ve seen letter evidence – Meghan and Harry seem actually to be in love.

Though your point about them sticking it out stands.

      • Spicecake38 says:

Heard that it was more of a parent (Wallis) child (Ed) relationship but who knows,I do recall letters but don’t remember when or where they are now

      • ex-Mel says:

You don’t have to be a “supporter” of Wallis to acknowledge it. We will never know what was in her heart, of course, but there are letters that seem to provide solid evidence that she was thinking of going back to Simpson, her ex-husband, whom she allegedly still loved (or wanted to be married to, anyway). But if a man publicly – and preemptively, precisely to secure her, say some – relinquishes the throne of Great Britain to marry you, you really are cornered, certainly in 1936. She would have been destroyed socially – and she lived for “society”.

  11. IlsaLund says:

🤦🏽‍♀️Disgraceful how Meghan is treated. They are all so threatened by a self confident woman of color that it’s broke all their minds. It’s always the same trope used to denigrate and put black women down. And Harry is always portrayed as “dim witted” and being taken advantage of by the exotic hussy. Disgusting. My prayer is that H&M are strong enough to weather this and hopefully have a long and happy marriage.

  12. Rae says:

There is so much wrong with this, I don’t know where to begin.

Fucking Africa. Don’t bullshit about Harry feeling at home there, they’re saying that because it’s narrow-minded-xenophobe’s idea as to where all black people belong.

    Fuck ye right off!

I keep saying this, but I feel I have to keep reiterating: I am so fucking embarrassed to be British.

I have been accused today of being a #Bot by a Meghan hater on Twitter. I feel like it’s a badge of pride.

I really feel that at least Prince Charles is on her side, though I’m losing hope as more “sources” come out of the woodwork.

  13. Snowslow says:

So we’re paying attention to Cindy Adam’s 1930’s ethnic segregation fantasy piece?

    • Mumbles says:

Yeah, I have no doubt a decrepit old creep like Cindy Adams believes this, but just who are her sources? She’s gotta be close to 90, probably lives in some creaky, overfurnished old Upper East Side apartment, ventures out to a weekly expensive lunch on Madison Ave with whatever of her friends are still alive. Then she writes her crap up and some messenger from the Post picks it up because she doesn’t know how to use email, my guess.

This is just her synthesizing what she reads in the Fail.

  14. M. says:

How utterly ridiculous and tone deaf. These people actually believe that what they are saying is something to be proud of.

  15. lillibet says:

I’m not sure the royal family and their people could be worse at optics if they were trying very hard to be the worst ever at optics. They cannot get out of their own way, and it’s sort of amazing how truly horrible they are at managing this (which could have been a PR boon for a staid old institution). I enjoy following it for entertainment value but the more I see of this, the more I think the whole thing just needs to fold. They need to evolve or go extinct. This is just beyond silly.

    • Rae says:

It would mean a lot for one of them to do what the Queen just did for Andy; physical show that you’re on her side. We know they never comment, they do it their way.

Their distance says volumes and it has genuinely smashed down a lot of respect I had for some of the senior royals.

    • Harla says:

The BRF has always been horrible with optics, sticking to that old “don’t complain, don’t explain” nonsense. If anything will bring down the monarchy it will be their continued adherence to methods and practices that worked fine 50+ years ago but don’t work in this digital age.

Personally, I have long admired the Queen and Prince Charles but the fact that neither of them have said or done anything publicly to try and stop this flow of hurtful, hateful and cruel treatment of the newest member of their family has caused me to take a second look at them and frankly I don’t like what I see. Meghan has given up so much out of love of their grandson and son, she has chosen because of that love, to dedicate her life to that family and that family can’t be bothered to say publicly enough is enough. I think they’re blowing it here just like the Queen did when Diana died.

  16. Abby says:

We will be more than happy for Meghan and Harry to PERMANENTLY settle on the African continent. What I detest is Cindy whatever denegrating a whole freaking continent as a bush

  17. Eliza says:

She’s not a citizen yet, so she can’t stay anywhere but UK for more than half the year. I mean can you imagine the biggest outrage if Meghan got to skip the immigration laws because the royal family didn’t want her around but tax payers still paying for her? It’s insulting to immigrants, to tax payers. It’s insulting to Meghan and Harry. I mean the list goes on.

    • IlsaLund says:

Maybe the goal is to prevent Meghan from ever attaining British citizenship. Run her off before that happens.

      • StarGreek says:

Ilsalund, you are spot-on in my opinion. It is not easy at all to naturalise (I know it first hand) and they usually look for tiny excuses not to grant it.

    • StarGreek says:

It is 93 days out of UK in the last year before applying and I think a total of 270 days in last 5 yrs. UK naturalization by marriage doesn’t exist anymore, thanks to T. May at the Home Office as Home Secretary. There is a reduction in time before applying but that is a trick as the spouse visas are 2.5 years, I.e. you are forced to have 2 before naturalising, no exceptions.

  18. Christina says:

    Speechless!

  19. Iknow says:

I love how these fossil courtiers believe that if Harry and Meghan moved to a country in Africa, suddenly, the world will forget about them. Excuse me idiots, the Sussex’s are a staple on the internet. This isn’t the days of print. Are all these people so old that they don’t know how the world is interconnected.

  20. Roserose says:

Cindy Adams’ article is racist and incredibly offensive. I hope the backlash well be swift and devastating.

  21. OriginalLala says:

What’s with this “banish the black Duchess to Africa” nonsense? It’s so obviously blatantly racist. I don’t know what Meghan is actually like in person, but damn, she is too good for this awful family. They would rather publicly defend a rapist pedo than say anything in defense of her….with family like that, who needs enemies.

  22. Loretta says:

That article is disgusting and the Royal Family is disgusting.

    • Mika says:

The Royal family IS disgusting, and HAS BEEN disgusting for a long time. Why have we forgotten that over the past 20 years?

  23. Dotti says:

William does not have the power to do that help or no help from the courtiers. The Queen has gone out of her way to bring Megs in to the fold. You can not compare David and Wallis he gave up being King for her. Harry isn’t king or going to be king AND he married Meghan. The Queen and Prince Charles both seem to like Meghan and this whole going to Africa to get her out of the way is just stupid. The press tormented the hell out of Sarah and Diana,. You should go back and look at what they did to Sarah who like Meghan did make some mistakes.

    • Mika says:

Sorry, what mistakes did Megan make?

    • Jaded says:

Meghan has not put a foot wrong. Sarah Ferguson, however, was a loud, vulgar, bumbling, embarrassing loose cannon. To compare them is an insult to Meghan. This isn’t just tormenting her because she makes mistakes, this is out-and-out, blatant racist bullshit and bullying.

  24. megs283 says:

What poison. Wherever Meghan goes, I hope her mom stays alongside her. She needs all the loved ones by her side to protect her from these daggers.

(Also, I feel like Doria is like “JUST TRY TO MESS WITH MY GIRLS!” in that baptism photo. Love her.)

  25. Myra says:

There’s nothing more racist than to say ship a WOC to the entire continent of Africa. She should own up to her personal feelings on the matter and stop with the “sources”

  26. Boxy Lady says:

These royalists think that they’re playing the long game and have TQ’s best interests at heart. However, from what I understand, she really wants to keep the Commonwealth intact as much as possible. If I were a brown or black person living in one of these Commonwealth nations, observing how the one POC who married into the BRF is being treated, or allowed to be treated without comment, I don’t think I would support staying in the Commonwealth. I hope there’s some kind of reckoning on that front but I doubt anything will shift within the Commonwealth until TQ dies.

    • IlsaLund says:

Agree. The majority of the Commonwealth countries have people of color. After Brexit, Britain will need the Commonwealth. I guess the colonialist mindset never disappears cause how stupid do you have to be to not even consider the lens Meghan’s treatment is being viewed by those in the Commonwealth.

    • Linda says:

      @Boxy Lady
I am from a Common Wealth country (Nigeria) and quite frankly we do not pay attention to the royal family unless maybe when they deign to visit. Nigeria will only leave the common wealth when it is no longer beneficial to us. Meanwhile it’s as clear as day that Meghan is treated horribly by the UK press for no reason at all but this will not factor into whether we will leave the Common Wealth or not.

      • BayTampaBay says:

@Linda, Maybe the Commonwealth will get smart and kick the UK with Windsors out of the club! LOL! LOL!

  27. Liz says:

I don’t believe this – its all too cartoonish. It might be good to have Harry liaison to strengthen business/development interests over there. He and Meghan are still part of the team.

  28. Carey says:

I’m not a H&M fan but ship the black duchess to Africa and keep the pedophile buddy home and nestled in mummy’s bosom is breathtakingly racist and immoral. I’m not British but if I were I’d be screaming for the abolition of the monarchy.

    • Eliza says:

Cindy is a New Yorker. As this column is just old gossip that circulated months ago she is just rehashing. The royal family is trash but this “article” is not from the UK no matter who she says she knows.

If the royals were ever subject to the freedom of information act they ruled be instantly abolished. Which is why they never will.

    • Elisa says:

      +1 Carey.
I’m side-eying the ongoing positive comments on the Queen when she has done nothing to stop the racist attacks on Meghan and is protecting a pedo. 🙁

  29. Maria says:

I am starting to really hate the BRF. It is absolutely unconscionable that the Queen would protect her son and do nothing to show support for Meghan, it is unconscionable that William and Kate would be trying to benefit from the whole “private jet” fiasco with their commercial flight to Scotland. They are disgusting. I hope more Andrew stories come out, and shame them all.

  30. line says:

These rumors of an exile in Africa are an insult to all African countries and those who in part of the Commonwealth. I really hope once the brexit start there is an bursting of the Commonwealth. The British press, the royal courtiers and some British people show how racist and xenophobic they are.

  31. Eyfalia says:

I am so angry right now I feel like vomiting. Harry and Meghan have many friends, powerful friends. They will not go to Africa, but the US is an option. Maybe working together with the Obamas. They will not live in Africa.
At the heart of this is William and Andrew. Andrew fearing to be shoved out by Charles, but if Harry is not there anymore, he stands a chance. William and Andrew definitely work together on this.
The Monarchy will not survice without Harry.

    • Mego says:

This piece of trash written by a piece of trash isn’t worth getting angry over.

      • Eyfalia says:

Oh, you are right. I just got up from my midday nap and my blood pressure had problems when I read this.

    • Who ARE These People? says:

Canada would make a more likely alternative – should they even consider an alternative – than the USA.

  32. Mika says:

I just want to pop in and add — as I regularly do — that I know a lot of people who knew Megan in Toronto. People who lived in her neighborhood and worked on Suits and I personally had a professional relationship with her main co-star on the show. Not one person said she was a diva, or an asshole. She was always warm and kind. She tipped her servers, shoveled her driveway, cleaned up her dog’s poo and she was, by all accounts, a hardworking and generous actor. It hurts me to see her painted this way. She is a kind person.

Also, not a pedophile or a Nazi, which is what she is being compared to – and found wanting against – in the BRF.

    • Maria says:

Thank you, Mika. It’s so bizarre to see someone so sweet painted with such a brush.

    • Mego says:

She clearly isn’t a diva. I think the only divas in the Royal Family are Andrew the terrible and Princess Michael of Kent.

    • OriginalLala says:

I have some friends in the Toronto film scene who always said the same about her, it’s one of the reasons i was disappointed that she married into the BRF, she was/is too good for that disgusting bunch of elitist leeches.

    • kerwood says:

Toronto would welcome the Sussex family with open arms. Meghan and Harry were able to conduct their romance and courtship safely and privately here. LOTS of people knew what was going on, especially people in her neighbourhood but they kept the secret because WE LIKE MEGHAN. They could do their charitable work here and there are lots of great schools for wee Archie to attend.

Come back, the welcome mat is out!!!

      • Jaded says:

Toronto, and Canada by and large, does not have the gutter press and paparazzi problems that the UK and US have. That’s why many super-groups (Rolling Stones e.g.) and big stars like recording and filming here because we leave them alone. I’ve seen Ron Wood, Renee Zelwiger and others walking around Toronto like regular people, so yes, I agree it would be an ideal place for them.

  33. Mego says:

Cindy Adams is an 89 year old American so I doubt very much she has any connections in the know. This doesn’t merit any attention whatsoever. What a mean spirited, racist cow. Just wow.

    • Robem07 says:

Exactly! @Mego She was born in 1930 and trying to stay current (for the 1950’s, anyway)

  34. Jane says:

No access to The Sussexes means that the media is just speculating and now rehashing old discredited stories.

  35. duchess of hazard says:

Africa is a continent of fifty four countries, and not all of them are ex colonies, so which one? Prince Harry was looking to leg it from the BRF a while ago, I wonder if he’ll do it soon. Supposedly the Firm knows Harry’s stardust to the role (he is relatively well liked, and Will and Harry still have their mother’s untimely death to call upon when the criticism gets too harsh).

But still… Africa? Which country? And how is that not racist?

  36. Elizabeth says:

It’s probably been said before, but I just haven’t read it…. But seriously – how f’ing transparent with your racism can you get? “Exiling” an African American woman who married into the royal family to Africa. Good grief with these people….

  37. Lisa says:

    What a racist horrible article.

  38. kerwood says:

IF this is true, and I have serious doubts, what does the Royal Family think the OPTICS are going to be? They harass the first Black woman to join the family into divorce or exile while they stand firmly behind a pedophile? Is the Queen so out of touch or so out of control of her family that she thinks that’s a good idea.

I have a feeling that there are a lot of evildoers whispering in the Queen’s ear, telling her that THEY know what the people want. They might show her the DM’s message boards and tell her it’s proof that the British people don’t want the duchess. Prince Phillip is out of the picture now. He might be a racist old bastard but he’s no fool. I’ll bet he likes Meghan’s spirit and devotion to work. But if he isn’t there to guide the Queen, who knows what could happen.

Let’s not forget that Diana’s people have a beef against the monarchy. Diana never wanted Charles to be King. Maybe they think tearing the whole thing down is the best way to do it. But Harry is Diana’s son and I find it very hard to believe that her former courtiers would do anything to hurt him.

This STINKS of Normal Bill and the Middletons. They’re terrified of the Sussex’s popularity and are in panic mode. Bill and Keen Katie are looking at YEARS of work if Meghan and Harry stick around and they don’t want that. None of them are very smart or very good and they would sink to this disgusting level.

God Save the Queen because her family is going to drag her reign into the gutter.

    • Linda says:

      @Kerwood
Where is Charles in all these? He is the next King not William. Does he have no spine? His silence to me speaks volumes. If you put all the blame on William and the Middleton’s then you are basically saying that they are running the show and are more powerful than the Queen and Charles.

      • kerwood says:

I think Charles is caught between two sons. Charles probably feels a lot of guilt over what happened when his sons were children. I dont doubt that if he came out in support of the Sussexes, William would be furious and accuse him of taking sides. That’s what Carol Middleton would tell him, anyway. It IS spineless of Charles and he’s going to have to sac up with a quickness because the OPTICS are getting worse and worse for the royal family.

      • Linda says:

I think you are making excuses for Charles. Just a word of support for Meghan will make all the difference and doing this does not mean he loves William any less. It appears Charles is willing to throw Harry and Meghan under the bus just to satisfy William and that is extremely unfair. Besides what is the Queen’s excuse? If she can protect Andrew why not extend this to Meghan and Harry?

      • Elisa says:

hahahaha, so we are back to evil mastermind Carol running the show and aiming at word domination. 🙂
Seriously, the Cambridge’s obvious PR game has always been obvious, but IMO it’s wrong to put all the blame on them. Both the Queen and Charles have done nothing to stop the ongoing campaign against Meghan, so the focus should be much more on them.

    • Your Cousin Vinny says:

Since when does the Queen need Prince Phillip to “guide” her??

  39. MellyMel says:

“Shipped off to Africa”…so racists and xenophobic! But also insulting to Africa which is NOT A COUNTRY, even though racists act like it is. And saying they are being sent there or exiled, as if to be punished like Africa is some horrible place that only horrible Duchesses deserve to be sent to. The BRF are so tone deaf. And again the only person who should be exiled (preferably behind bars) is ANDREW!

  40. pinkberry says:

I thought Cindy’s article was just poking fun at the BRF. At the end of the article, it said, “joked only in New York, kids, only in New York”. The article was obnoxious to read.

  41. FredsMother says:

Not today Satan. Not today. I just….I can’t tell you.. Just… Mi vex!!!

  42. Tanya says:

The aristocracy is uncomfortable with Megan for the same reasons they’re pro-Brexit (even the Queen). They want England to “look like England.” Basically, racism.

  43. Case says:

It stuns me (but not really, because racism) how much hatred is thrown her way for merely existing. I believe and have always believed Meghan is a good person. She and Harry don’t deserve this. If I were her, the LAST thing I’d do is divorce the man I love because of these bullies – I’d hold on even tighter to my little family. They won’t let these people ruin their lives.

  44. MeganBot2000 says:

Okay there’s at least five things that scream “this person knows zero about Britain.”

Buckingham’s upper classes?? Does she mean Buckingham Palace?? No one shortens BP to just “Buckingham,” ever. This is because Buckingham is a place in its own right. A lovely place but not upper class. And BP is one single building. It appears that she’s using “Buckingham” as some kind of weird shorthand for upper class English society/London society/royals in general/who the F knows, but it’s incomprehensible to actual Brits, and screams that she doesn’t know what she’s talking about.

    • Some chick says:

I’m not even a Brit and that stuck out to me too. She’s worse than the Daily Fail.

  45. Sof says:

As English is not my first tounge I’m always disgusted that it’s acceptable to refer to a woman as “Mrs. Harry”.
I’m not going to comment on the article, it’s atrocious and I don’t believe any of it.

  46. My3cents says:

Meghan is the best thing to happen to the British monarchy in quite a while. Too bad these narrow minded pear clutchers can’t see that. They could have really benefited from working with her not constantly against her.

    • Syd says:

Right!?! They could have worked with her and everything she’s bringing to the table to help ease the transition to Charles’ reign, with the Commonwealth and all.
Instead, they’re shooting themselves in the foot: attacking her on the daily AND siding with a pedophile narcissist.

  47. Lila says:

Cindy Adams writes like she’s having a stroke.

  48. Flying Fish says:

None of the race filled racism is surprising to me. It is not going stop and it will probably get worse.

  49. New_Kay says:

This narrative is such a dogwhistle way of saying ‘go back to where you came from Black woman.’

  50. Cee says:

I hope the BRF gets shipped to Narnia.

  51. MsIam says:

Isn’t Page Six (NY Post) owned by Rupert Murdoch? Part of the conservative cabal? And I find it very telling that the “upper crust” don’t like Meghan but are fine with Pedo Andy. I would want to get away from that bunch with the quickness if that is true. And all the shade with the “Harry is stupid” narrative is so tiresome. I think it’s no coincidence that this comes out after H&M get all that celebrity support on Twitter. Just want to let everyone know that “the people who really count” don’t like H&M at all. Whoever they may be.

    • BayTampaBay says:

Correct, Rupert Murdoch owns the New York Post. Rupert Murdock is a small “r” republican and does not care for Constitutional Monarchy as an institutional form of government.

  52. Nicegirl says:

Yes. If these upper crust racist criminal idiotic mofos accept and enjoy parasitic pedos then obviously they cannot like our Meghan. I’m sure she does not want to be liked by the likes of these characters. And this old hag omg. Cindy is older is than Yoda.

  53. RoyalBlue says:

What in tarnations! Did I die and wake up in the 1800s when it was common practice to ship people off to the colonies? Did I die and wake up in a white supremist’s Dream? Damn is it 1619 all over again? Nah. Not today satan!

  54. Rachel says:

It is really annoying when people refer to Africa as a country. For goodness sake, it is a continent! And do the British press think living in one of the diverse countries in Africa a punishment? We would welcome them gladly and with open arms! The whole world is so crazy!!

  55. Lowrider says:

    LMAO!

This reads like someone from Diana’s old court rang up Page Six to spread some gossip.

    – Harry is dim and unhappy
    – Meghan spends to much
    – Harry’s friends hate Meghan
    – Banishment to a entire continent
    – Divorce incoming

    • MsIam says:

Yes, Harry is so unhappy with Meghan, his “amazing wife who is joining him on this crazy ride”. I think that is what is so hilarious ; every time the haters in the media want to push the “Harry is miserable” theme, we see them stepping out hand in hand united and looking happy. Wasn’t it Harry who told Beyonce “Thank you for being so kind to my wife!”? Doesn’t sound like a miserable man who can’t wait to get away.

  56. intheknow says:

(the environment stuff aside)The Meghan/Harry saga is proving to be a trigger for me especially these days. I know what it is like to marry and want acceptance into a new family only to have people on both sides hoping AND doing things to ensure the marriage fails. I can’t imagine it being on such a global scale.

I wish I had some pearls of wisdom/guidance, fk, I wish I was Harry Potter or maybe Hermione so I could turn some of these human voldemorts into dust.

  57. Liz version 700 says:

Wow, these stories are going from blatant racism to a main course of racism, wrapped in a think coating of misogyny, and sprinkled with a heaping topping of colonialism. I would say the queen needs to shut this down for her own appearance sake, but she is probably driving around looking for the creepy son so she can grin like a loon some more…

  58. Lainey says:

Cindy Adams is still alive? That hack was old when I was a kid. Now I’m oldish. Is she a vampire?

  59. blunt talker says:

I think the Commonwealth countries should send a letter to the Queen and Charles expressing their feelings about a member of the royal family who is of mixed blood being treated so horribly by the UK press. If Harry and Meghan are the Commonwealth Pres./Vice-Pres., why would the UK press stir up these hateful things- If I was in the Commonwealth countries it would make me think that deep down the UK really is racist and don’t respect the people of the Commonwealth-attacking one person of color in the royal family is very obvious to millions of people on this planet.

  60. Rogue says:

She’s literally just rehashing the Times (also owned by Murdoch) piece by Tim Shipman and other talking points from the British press and adding extra racist&misogynistic spin. “Ship” them to Africa, the “bush”?! She’s pure trash.

Hard to believe that idea of “sending the Sussexes to Africa” was a serious idea. With the wrong deportation of the Windrush generation, the idea the only POC royal could be forced out would be a terrible look for the UK.

The whole Meghan loves attention/drama thing is funny. Whilst she’s clearly comfortable in the limelight, since she’s married in we rarely see her outside engagements and large reason for the press negativity is that she isn’t playing press game. BTS meet up requests with press have been rejected by reporters/photographers own words, didn’t do Lindo Wing and all aspects of Archie’s christening was behind closed doors. Even with the baby shower the US security report obtained by the Fail showed that her location was leaked, she changed lunch venues to avoid paparazzi, and she wanted to leave Mark hotel from service exit but that door was no less visible.

The royal reporters told the NYT the price for not playing the press game was mockery so that’s one of the reasons we see them being hyper critical of her every move.

  61. lucylee says:

Who is Cindy Adams, does she write fiction books?

Please believe that the British public are not the Cindy Adams of this world. They actually think about the RF from one week to the next unless something like Andy happens,

    • lucylee says:

That should of course say “They actually don’t think about the RF from one week to the next….”

  62. Ref7 says:

I’m sorry but this is nothing new. The “ship them to Africa” story has been floating around since before Archie was born.
