Olivia Wilde’s daughter poured ice water on her pillow at 3am

Here’s one to file away in your “Do I Want Kids?” folder. Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis have two children, Daisy, who is three, and Otis, who is five. Both kids are adorable (as are all kids, IMO) and Olivia posts them on her social media but not constantly. It’s also not always the Sunshine and Roses approach some parents take publicly, like her admission the other day that her daughter had paid her an early morning call:

I haven’t seen Abominable yet, is there an ice water wake-up call in it? Because my daughter wants to see it very much and this may prevent me from taking her. But this, right there, is why I follow Olivia on both Twitter and Instagram. I can picture the scene and, once dried off, would find it equally funny. But her frat comment made me laugh out loud. I have always loved Olivia’s humor, it’s sarcastic without being cruel, at least where her kids and Jason are concerned. Like this post from her Instagram:

On which she wrote the caption:

She looks like she just realized she crawled in bed with the wrong woman.

Ha! Not only is it a departure from most actress’ “#blessed to spend any time with this one” kind of comment, that is exactly what Daisy looks like in the photo. I’ve read through some of the comments on both Olivia’s Twitter and IG posts and there are some very silly ones admonishing her for not teaching her kids manners or other such nonsense. Olivia never seems to engage or react, which I get. Most of the stuff she says is a joke anyway and it’s not really worth it to explain to someone who’s already formed a judgement. I hope she never gets chased off by the Angries on social, I enjoy her too much.

Olivia’s has been bit by the directing bug. She did a few shorts and videos but her first feature, Booksmart, impressed a lot of people. She is currently directing something that is only listed as “secret project” on her IG. All we know is Margaret Qually is in it and it involves Times Square. I’ll be intrigued to see what it is.

Lastly, Olivia and Jason just bought a new home in Silver Lake over the summer. You can see some photos here, if you need some house pr0n for the day.

OMG does Otis look like Jason

If she’s a mom to young children she’s barely sleeping anyways.
Shout-out to fellow moms this morning!!! Hiiiiiii!!!!

I’m an Olivia fan, and I really like them as a couple. They have some really cute kids. That story is hilarious – I could see my niece doing that 100%.

People are instructing her how to raise her kids based on photo? Seriously, before you are allowed to hit send on a comment lecturing others, everyone should look on a mirror. Someone should invent an app or a filter on instagram for that

Love her. Her sense of humor is right up my alley. She & Jason are so cute together, and I think both kids are Jason mimi-me’s (at least based on these photos). Adorable.

I watched Booksmart last week. It’s very good. If you haven’t seen it, you should check it out. I seek out as many films directed by women as I can find. If you google “films by women” there’s a treasure trove.

Totally agree. There’s also a great thing called CherryPicks that sends out an email once a week or so, with movies rated by WOMEN CRITICS. Hard to find. And there is a focus on movies by women.

i follow her on instagram. she strikes a nice balance of being funny about parenting but not seeming like a rotten egg. sometimes insta mom’s think they’re being “self deprecating” about parenting but really they’re just bitching about their kids. the biggest thing in self depreciating humor is the self part…not those around you.

    • Veruca_Salty says:

YES ^^^^ I know exactly what you mean. There is fine line between sarcasm/self deprecation to just sounding bitter AF but trying to mask it as “humor”.

I love this. And I get it – I have a dryer sense of humor and not everyone is always on board (like when I called my son TD for Tiny Dictator, said baby shark should be classified under torture tactics, and made a comment to another parent that kids are basically adorable emotional terrorists….the list goes on). I felt so reassured the first time I heard another mom talk like this, and she was truly an incredible mother. It’s like hearing a Dr drop the f bomb – ok, you ARE human, I CAN relate to you on a human level….some of us just need to call it like it is. Then we laugh and go raise these gross little weirdos because we love them more than life itself.

    • Kate says:

lol my husband and I call our kids terrorists every time they are tantrum’ing and we are debating whether to hold our ground or give in.

      • Desdemina says:

This! Just last night we were like, “when she does that, we can’t negotiate in front of her – it makes us look weak!”

I think Daisy looks more like Jason than Otis. They are both cutie pies. I like Olivia. She is beautiful enough to just skate through life on looks alone but she chooses to use her brain. I loved her on House.

  9. FHMom says:

She is naturally pretty. I wish she’d go a k to being a brunette.

I totally relate to how awesome it is to have tiny hands pry eyelids open. Captain Insano is turning 14 next month so I’m on memory and nostalgia roads at this point, but he was definitely the most insaniest of the three. I’m now having constant social media conversations and overcoming puberty mania. A prerequisite of mine is him watching ‘Tea Consent’ on YouTube about a hundred times before first dates lol. Gotta love all the stages.

Never did I awake to ice water thrown on my pillow, but when my daughter was about 3,she was in the bathtub ,toys and all(oh the days of bath toys)I was directly in front of her at my sink/mirror area drying and then flat ironing my hair-about 5 seconds before I was done I felt a shock of cold water…She had filled a plastic glass full of cold water and threw it on my hair 😂
    Those were the days…
