Jessica Simpson’s pre-split Glamour interview “I loved everything about marriage”

glamourjessicasimpson
Jessica Simpson is the September cover girl for Glamour Magazine. Even though Glamour is a tad down-market for Jessica, considering one of her last monthly magazine appearances was Vanity Fair, it’s still an honor for any actress/celebrity to be chosen for the September issue. Historically, September issues are one of the biggest of the years, so magazines like to have a huge “get” interview and cover girl.

The interview was done before Jessica and Tony Romo broke up, but as the interview excerpts US Weekly has, you can kind of tell that Jessica might have known what was coming. She even tells Glamour, “If this article comes out and we’re not together, I’d still love him, and he’d still be a huge part of who I am today.” Yeah… not only was the interview before Tony dumped her, it was before he spent three weeks acting like the Douche Supreme. I’d imagine Jess might be singing a different tune if she was interviewed today. Jessica also talks about body image – and she almost sounds thoughtful and intelligent. Of course, she doesn’t remind us that she’s Indian.

In September’s Glamour, Jessica Simpson admits for the first time that her weight “fluctuates” and that she has struggled with body image issues her entire life.

“When I was young, I would look at magazines and feel a lot of pressure,” says the singer, 29. “As a child of 12, I would write things in my journal like, ‘I’m lying here and all I can think about is that my stomach is hanging over my underwear.’ That disturbs me even today! I was always disconnected from myself; there was this idea of perfection I couldn’t ever get to. But all women struggle with insecurity, and we all have something we don’t like about ourselves.”

Simpson – who underwent criticism this year after looking fuller-figured at a Florida concert – says she is psyched at the idea of hosting her own VH1 reality show, The Price of Beauty. The show tracks her journey around the world in search of what people find beautiful and why.

“No matter how much money you spend to make yourself beautiful — with all the products, the diets, the plastic surgery — in the end, women need to fall in love with themselves and realize they’re beautifully and wonderfully made. There is no ‘perfect’ you,” says Simpson, who has admitted to getting Restylane to make her lips plumper.

“It will be interesting for women to see how self-obsessed we’ve become,” she says.

She credits ex Tony Romo with helping her become more comfortable in her own skin. “Tony never ever places judgment,” she says. “You can just relax and feel beautiful. He’s just that type of person.”

Although she did the interview before her split with Romo, she says, “If this article comes out and we’re not together, I’d still love [Tony], and he’d still be a huge part of who I am today.”

Simpson also addresses her 2006 divorce from Nick Lachey.

“It was hard to imagine I would ever walk down the aisle again,” she says. “It was like a death in the family: You go through the mourning stage, then the rebellion, and then all of a sudden you have to find life by yourself. Once you do that, you feel complete — and that’s the only time you can truly fall in love again, and give yourself over completely to another person.”

Although her first marriage failed, says she will “definitely” wed again.

“I loved everything about marriage,” she tells Glamour. “I loved having a companion to wake up with and have barbecues with. But things happen and people grow apart. I don’t really ever talk about the divorce because it was a heart-wrenching thing to go through. It’s a very, very personal thing.”

[From US Weekly]

Sigh. Maybe she would find an easier time accepting her body if she fired her stylist. Clothes that work on a curvy body make a huge difference, I’ve found. That way Jess won’t be wandering around random chili cook-offs in mom jeans, two leopard-print belts and no bra. You know what’s weird though? People actually like Jessica’s fashion sense! Well, they like her “Jessica Simpson Collection”, which, according to People Magazine, is set to make $450 million this year. That’s no small feat in a recession. And VH1 gave her that new reality show, The Price of Beauty. Things are looking up for Jessica! Now, let’s get her a new stylist.

Thanks to Cover Awards for the Glamour cover

That is not a flattering picture of her face for the cover of the magazine. She’s a pretty girl, they could have done better than that.

Her stuff actually IS really cute! When I’m in the stores I always go over and see what label is on the item I’m looking at and often it’s Jessica’s…. It’s kind of expensive though – for being Jessica Simpson…are her bags REALLY worth 100 dollars? You decide… And her shoes are like 60-70 dollars as well. Again, do I really want to give my money to Jessica?

I agree, that cover is NOT attractive at all.

She really does need better people, better girlfriends. Someone to point out an unfortunate wardrobe choice, suggest something more flattering. Also, she needs to back away from Ken Paves and his terrible porn star hairstyling. I think Jess looks so pretty when she’s wearing almost no makeup…

I love her shoes and think that the line is actually quite reasonably priced compared to some of the other celebrity lines out there. I don’t know why I love this girl so much but I do.

What is that writing with the arrow pointing to her hand? My eyes are too bad to read that.

That is a strange pic of her, it almost doesn’t even look like her.

Taylor, I think it says “Her gift to herself!” I think. My eyes hurt from squinting at it, though.

I always find most of her styles to be very…..white-trash chic. But occasionally she gets things right.

Either way, you can’t help but feel bad for the girl. Maybe she should just get out of the spotlight, relax and enjoy her life. Quit trying to find Mr. Right and let Mr. Right find her. And really, just be happy as she is.

And yea, find a better stylist, or get some fashion sense. There are just some obvious no-no’s she keeps missing. Maybe I can make it simple for her and tell her “If Peg Bundy would wear it, maybe you shouldn’t..”

I think that is sage advice for anyone, except drag queens.

Her line IS really cute (with the occasional flop of course) and if anyone cares, it’s often available at Marshalls and TJ Maxx for significantly less than department stores. Just thought I’d share! I’m cheap:)

Do you believe she actually designs the stuff? I’m sure there is a whole team that creates the new styles.
I saw a picture of her wearing her clothing line and she looked beautiful.
That lighting is all kinds of horrible. She looks like she is seriouslly ill.
