Sherri Shepherd, one of the hostesses on The View, has lost weight through a three month regimen of diet and exercise, chronicled on the show. Shepherd, who suffers from diabetes, dropped 10 inches on the program but what’s better is that she was able to stabilize her blood sugar naturally and go off all medication for her condition. Last week she underwent her first bikini wax, a painful experience which she taped for the show and called “worse than having a baby.” Yesterday Sherri premiered her bathing suit body and she looked great. Sherri says her goal was to show people that “you don’t have to do anything crazy” to get to a size where you feel comfortable in a bathing suit.

After months of dieting and exercising, she fulfilled her promise to walk out on stage in a bathing suit on Thursday’s The View.
Walking on stage to “I’m Every Woman,” Shepherd, 42, proclaimed, “I feel really great. I just wanted to show people that you don’t have to do anything crazy. You just have to make some choices and exercise and the weight will drop off. I hope some folks were inspired.”
Since May, she has lost 5 inches from her waist and 10 inches overall. (She didn’t reveal how many pounds she shed.)
Barbara Walters said her colleagues “were very proud” of Shepherd, who celebrated by indulging in ribs and M&Ms that exec producer Bill Geddes brought her as a treat.
Dieting hadn’t been easy, Shepherd told Usmagazine.com in June.
She had been eating “a lot of grilled chicken, a lot of salad, a lot of water,” she said. “I’m miserable!”
In terms of exercise, she told Us, “I do a lot of stairs, a lot of planks, a lot of squats, a lot of treadmill, a lot of screaming — and I do it four times a week.”
Though the work-outs were intense, she told Us, “I have a lot of energy.”

Sherri is also featured in People Magazine this week in an article titled “I like the size I am!” Sherri looks incredible and she probably feels so much better about herself. I don’t watch this show, but I heard her say during her bikini wax segment that she was married for 12 years and either got divorced, or was going through a divorce. (Wikipedia has her marriage ending in 2007.) It’s got to be a great boost to her self esteem to lose weight. Checking out pictures of Sherri, she did have a date to the BET Awards in late June so I bet there’s already a special man in her life. Good for her!

Good for her. I know a lot of people think she’s an airhead… but she seems like a NICE airhead, at least.
More than the shape of her, I am so pleased that her blood sugar is self-regulating. That takes work and dedication, but will mean a longer life for sure.

Watched the show briefly, the comedic talent is good. The hosts are uninformed and rather boobish on any topic. Sherri’s schtick was the JW, which wasn’t a pleasant listening experience. (I’m not into being recruited = )
What is cool about what she did is the change in her diabetic condition … she’s dropped all meds = )

As someone who has several diabetics in my extended family, I am very happy that she has been able to get off medication, and that she feels comfortable in her own skin. Her body is really unusual in that she seems to carry her weight from the waist up. She is shaped like an upside-down triangle.

Wow her legs look great. Good for you Sherri! It is an inspiration, and a good deed on her part to show that American women can address their health issues in this way, instead of living a lifetime on meds and just accepting bad health. I would hate to be that busty, though. It always just makes a person look bigger. Maybe in the future she will consider a breast reduction to go with her reduced figure – that has gotta be hard on her back having a bust like that.

I read on another site that she is shaped like the tazmanian devil, and i couldn’t agree more, sometimes a breast reduction wouldn’t hurt, but anyways congrats on the weight loss, it’s not easy and she should at least be commended for that

she looks good, but that is an unflattering bathing suit for someone who is topheavy like she is. however, i still think she is annoying. also, i’ve had bikini waxes and i don’t think they are that painful…ladies? what do we think?

I like Sherri. She is still top-heavy so her shape in this bathing suit looks out of porportion. But she is on a great path and I am happy for her.

i’ve got course hair down there (yes, lovely i know :/) so it’s extra painful… so it does depend a lot on how much and what type of forest you’ve got growin… evergreen, tropical, coniferous, that sort of thing :-p

I wonder, whatever happened to going Au natural down there? I mean, its not nasty and if your worried about flashing hair, why not a cute boy short ensemble?
When I was doing my hospital hours in the E.R., ( you know if you’ve been to the e.r. on the receiving end- you’re stripped and loosely covered with a sheet for easier treatment) I was surprised with how many women and teen girls waxed or shaved them selves- bald. I think its completely unsexy and what man would want to bang a woman who looks like a prepubescent girl down there?

Im diabetic insulin-dependent(Type I) so sadly I have to remain so till there is a cure but she’s a perfect example of how for those where wieght-loss IS the cure(Type II), you should and CAN totally do it…bangin body lady;)

She should get a breast reduction. She’ll look more balanced and it will be easier for her maintain a workout regimen. It will no doubt be easier on her back, too!

hatsumomo, i also agree with you. none of my boyfriends have ever really cared… i think a real man just wants to get it on… if he’s gonna nitpick about every little hair on your body or the ten extra pounds you gained or something, then he’s either gay, or way too superficial… either way, i ain’t interested.
I have to admit though, this new trend of men shaving/waxing their chests is HIGHLY disturbing… PLEASE STOP!
in any case, i don’t do it much these days anyway. a little trimmy trim usually suffices. once in a while i’ll get a wax with girlfriends or something… i dunno why… maybe i’m a masochist? :/

Okay, so she lost some weight. Good for her. She says she’s miserable doing it, which means she won’t maintain it. Losing weight isn’t the hard part…keeping it off is the hard part. And she has to keep the boobs. Without them, she looks like a man. Is there any difference between her hips and waist? What an awful bathing suit for her body type.

I just think it’s funny she is dating “MVP” a WWE Wrestler. And he’s got a hell of a history himself. Was a bad kid who got into a gang, spent 9 1/2 years in prison for kidnapping and robbery, and then ended up in the WWE!! Now, he has become a very popular wrestler, and kids everywhere love him. Matter-of-fact, they had a storyline on Friday Night Smackdown(the show MVP wrestles on) about him and Sherri getting together.

I say good on her. Yes shes top heavy, what alot of people may not know, is that having breast reduction surgery is major surgery. If shes happy with them good on her.
Yes she may have had a staff of 4 to help her, but why not? She ultimately stuck to the diet and did it herself, they didnt lose the weight for her.
In regards to her history, thats not the issue here, its about her weight loss.
Hopefully she will keep the weight loss off as this will also help with her diabetes.

While on vacation last week, I happened to turn on the View and they had a chef who turned out at least 7 classical dishes of Julia Child (they were also reviewing the movie). This lady, whatever her name, was scarfing down on all the dishes that she forgot she was supposed to be taking part in the interview. If she lost any weight she more than likely has put it back on. What an over-eating pig. She even tried to talk with the food stuffed in her mouth. No class.
