Prince William said words about resolving obstacles & dealing with challenges

Commission Mcc0093447RoyAL ROTA BRADFORD

(Charles Foster Kane and Rosebud, seen above.)

Earlier this week, I gamed out what life would be like for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge now that they’ve successfully bullied the Sussexes out of the country. I said that Kate in particular would enjoy an entirely new chapter to the Embiggening, and the royal reporters would breathlessly hype anything and everything about her. William might look bad – because he was absolutely behind so much of what happened to the Sussexes – but I think he will also enjoy a special honeymoon with the press. We’ll call it the You’re Stuck With Us, Kiss Our Feet Tour. Wouldn’t you know, all of the media outlets covering the Cambridges’ events in Bradford yesterday were all sycophantic and cloying. What’s interesting – I suppose – is that William did say some words and those words are being interpreted to mean something in regards to Sussexit.

William, 37, and Kate, 38, visited Bradford Hall in West Yorkshire on Wednesday, January 15, to meet with today’s youth and local businesses. During their appearance, William stated that it’s normal for people to encounter bumps along the way in life. He also stressed the importance of resolving and moving on from said obstacles.

“It’s sometimes trying to get people to understand that it’s OK to have these challenges,” William said on Wednesday. “We just need to deal with them and we need to move forward rather than just be stuck in paralysis and pretend they don’t happen.”

The future king noted that it’s “really crucial” for everyone to work together to overcome problems in one’s community. “If we can replicate that more in this country, then that can only be for good, bringing everyone together,” he said on Wednesday. “Which is slightly part of the reason why we want to get around the U.K. now, and see as many places in the U.K. we may not have been to very much to try and understand some of the more complex challenges, some of the slightly more tucked away challenges that people find hard to talk about.”

[From Us Weekly]

At first I was like, okay, that’s not that bad and I honestly sort of agree with the principle of “it’s better to go through a difficult, uncomfortable period and come through it than just stagnate.” But I thought about it more and… IF this is an oblique reference to Sussexit, it could also be interpreted as William talking about how Harry and Meghan were the obstacles/challenges and Ol’ Workshy had to deal with them, poor sausage. I don’t know. It’s vague enough that you can’t really criticize him.

Here are some shots of Kate’s Zara dress. I actually like the fabric a lot, but the design is so ‘80s Diana. Ugh on the pussybow.

We k’ow The kind of solutions William uses.
Bullying, threats, collusion with the press.

Somebody keeps him away from Harry Meghan and Archie.

  2. Alexandria says:

That’s funny because when I see these two I think of stagnation.

  3. Becks1 says:

Lordy she needs to stop with the pussybows. she’s clearly decided at some point over the past 6 months that they are her new thing, and its such a dated look when you wear it constantly.

The Bradford visit was SO hyped up. It cracked me up. KP made 3 posts about it, the royal family posted about it, the reporters were all over it – but something about it seemed awkward to me. “Hey, we have successfully bullied the first black member of the royal family bad enough that she is in Canada, let’s go to this really diverse area!”

    • Nahema says:

I don’t see this sugary coverage lasting for them. Once things settle down with the Sussex’s, the press will start tearing into William & Kate again.

      • Mac says:

The coverage of Harry and Meghan will never settle down. They are click bait for racists.

      • L84Tea says:

I agree with this. I think they are going to ooze sugar all over W&K for a little while because they are salty. But give it time. That will end for them.

      • Lady D says:

Yesterday someone said that the sugary coverage would last approximately one month and then the press claws would be back. I think they’re right, and it won’t be long before the attacks start again on them.

      • BellaBella says:

I really hope they start tearing into Kate’s “fashion” choices. Her style is fugly.

      • Lucy De Blois says:

Sorry my poor taste but I love the dress. It’s the kind I would buy tomorrow if until there I could loose few, several many pounds. But seriously, is it something left on Kate except for the bones?

      • Emma33 says:

Yep…that’s how it rolls. I remember all the Diana/Fergie stuff. When Fergie came on the scene, the press were saying, “She’s so refreshing! She’s a breath of fresh air!” Then after a few months they tore her down with “Frumpy Fergie doesn’t know how to dress and is a ditz!”. Then when she divorced Andrew it was back to attacking Diana. It is just an endless merry go round of attacks and it is sad to see it play out again with Meghan.

    • Liz version 700 says:

Becks1 I commented below, but YES she looks soooo dated those pussybows are not always part of the dress…. she adds them to take her look back 6 decades omg 🤦🏻‍♀️

      • Rapunzel says:

The sugary coverage will definitely not last.
The DM (I know, I know- I don’t give them clicks, just see their headlines on Teitter) had an article about Will handing Kate a white rose, with the headline:”William’s tell-tale rose for Kate: Body language expert says ‘unusually romantic PDA’ signals ‘confidence’ and pair’s ‘genuine pleasure’ at meeting crowds”

That headline is some sneaky undercover snark re: the Cambridges’ work ethic and Rose Who?

      • Noodle says:

@Rapunzel, from what I could tell in the video, he literally took one white rose out of a beautiful arrangement, and handed it to her, thus messing up the arrangement. So cheesy and needless.

    • Chaine says:

That dress is the most fug thing I have seen in a long time. There is nothing redeeming about it. Looks like it was dug out of someone’s granny’s closet after she died, and didn’t sell at the estate sale, so was stuffed in the charity box and is now hanging in a thrift shop on a wire hanger on the 5 for a dollar rack smelling musty.

    • Amy Too says:

The combo of pattern, pussy bow, being completely covered up, and shoulder pads is horrible.

And people keep saying “well she’s really on trend. The 80s are back.” I doubt she’s doing this because she’s so fashion forward. If anything she has lucked into a trend, but still isn’t executing it properly. I highly doubt the 80s trend means you completely style yourself head to toe out of your mother’s closet. There have to be updated accessories and cool shoes and modern pieces thrown in, too.

      • Becks1 says:

@amyToo – Yes! she’s not executing it properly. The dress itself may be in style (I personally hate pussybows, but I’m not super trendy either, lol) – but she styles it in such a way that she looks dowdy.

I remember a few years ago – when Kate first started with these kinds of 80s dresses – there was a side by side of her and Drew Barrymore in the same dress. Drew looked fresh and fun, Kate looked….the opposite. Its all in the styling.

    • lingli says:

My Google news feed gave me a link to a Daily Fail article on this, which I clicked on because I thought it *might* possibly be shade: it was something about how William presented Kate with a rose on the visit. (So you can see why I was intrigued.)

It was actually an extraordinarily saccharine article featuring a body language “expert” who claimed that both the Cambridges were more confident than ever, that they thrilled the crowd and engaged with them at length, and that William giving Kate this rose was both flirtatious and a PDA. Eurgh.

ETA: I should’ve scrolled down to see Rapunzel’s comment on the same thing! But we clearly read the article the same way 😛

      • Lucy De Blois says:

What I said before: so staged. And as the RF troubles grow bigger, the acting gets worse and worse.

    • PrincessK says:

The Cambridges are being set up for a fall. One headline said that it was their first joint engagement as a couple for a while. This Bradford trip was awkward. Visiting a community were people know first hand about racism. When questioned people were polite and respectful but I got a strong sense that they were not happy that the first diverse member of the royal family has been forced out.

This was an Asian community, and it will be a long long time before the Cambridges enter a British community where there are more people of African heritage, or an African or Caribbean country for that matter.

  4. Digital Unicorn says:

They both looked so stiff in their office attire – Kate in her office Zara dress and William with his tie, shirt and jumper. They looked liked PwC accountants going to a client meeting – no offence to PwC accountants who do a great job, its just they reminded me of when I worked for financial institutions.

Then again its not what you wear but HOW you wear it.

As for the comments – of course he’s going to say vague things like this, he can’t really come out and say what he really thinks.

  5. Zapp Brannigan says:

“Charles Foster Kane and Rosebud, seen above”

Dead! RIP me. It is even funnier if that old Hollywood story that Orsen Welles used the name Rosebud as a sly insult to film’s real subject, William Randolph Hearst, Rosebud was Hearst’s name for his mistress Marion Davies’s “tender button”

  6. Becks1 says:

ALSO, apparently Kate told someone that William didn’t want a fourth child and Cambridge stans on twitter are devastated, lol. Maybe she’ll get her fourth to ensure “stability” after Sussexit.

  7. Eyfalia says:

“”You’re Stuck With Us, Kiss Our Feet Tour””

    So funny!!! I love it!

    • Me too. Love that working tour title. And of course they are going to go on about how they now want to get around the country and get with all their people. Almost everything that came out of his mouth was a double entendres yesterday. He is such a nasty piece of work. By the way, I love the picture you chose for the heading: I just love that clinch jawed, resting bitch face they are both showing. As to Kate’s dress, I like the fabric but I hate those 1970 bows. Maybe if she had added bigger buttons?! 😎

      • L4Frimaire says:

Thee is nothing flattering about that dress at all and they both have such pissy expressions on their face in the first pic.

  8. Trish-a says:

What’s going on with him- look wise? He looks so strange. Really thin and his head is just huge! Bad angle?

    • Alexandria says:

I was actually taken aback too. He’s lucky his body is still not bad (I think).

    • emmy says:

Those Windsor genes have rolled over him like a tank since he turned 30.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Thats the Windsor in him – he’s looking more and more like Prince Edward every day.

      • Alexandria says:

Uh Price Edward doesn’t look so for lack of a better word ghoulish? To be kind maybe it’s just the angle. Also I heard Prince Edward has a sense of humour.

      • Tiffany says:

If you would have told me that was Prince Edward in those photos, I would believe you.

  9. Cee says:

They will definitely have a honeymoon phase with the press but they’re now the sole youngest Senior Members of the BRF. Their lack of work will soon enough land them on the press’ bad side, AGAIN.

    • A says:

They have a long, LONG career in the public eye ahead of them. There’s plenty of time for them to screw up, and this time, they’ll have no one to throw under the bus and nowhere to go.

  10. Seraphina says:

Seeing him in that picture just makes me ill. I am so glad M&H have made the choices they made. I would not want to be in their shoes when Wills comes into more power. They have seen the monster and how he growing. The arrogance is so apparent. Ugh. As far as Kate, I hope the lifestyle is worth it because I get why so many women said no to him. No money and power can polish him.

  11. sue denim says:

“Which is slightly part of the reason…” hedge much? I think it’s just a word salad and an attempt to appear caring without the heart or soul or actions of actually caring. That’s the diff between Meghan and Harry and these two, a lack of depth and genuine compassion…

  12. Livvers says:

It strikes me as something Harry might have said to William, Wm thought was super deep, and decided to repeat in public as his own. So if we are speculating that secret messages are being sent, for my own benefit of adopting more positivity, I’m going to say the message is, “Harry, I heard you, what you said struck home to me.”

Now someone’s going to tell me I’m out of my tree, aren’t they.

  13. Guest2.0 says:

Honest question here. Why do their faces always look so forced when they’re talking to someone? It’s as if they were taught to look a certain way in order to convey interest or concern. And they go on about Meghan being an actress…I’d say W&K are always acting their way through their engagements.

    • Beach Dreams says:

Because they’re extremely superficial and lazy people who’ve demonstrated how much they don’t care to do the “work” that comes with their positions (especially when it involves people they likely look down on and wouldn’t interact with if they had a choice). They’re always ecstatic to be at fancy red carpet events and interacting with celebrities, though I never hear accusations of them being too Hollywood or obsessed with celebrity 🙃

    • Alexandria says:

      It’s not their passion.

  14. Liz version 700 says:

Ugh this is a petty comment but Kate and Will are petty people… WHY is Kate obsessed with those pussybows. She looks like a school marm from the 1950s

As for the word salad, I will give him a break. He is tired, terrorizing his brother and SIL took a toll and he needs a nap.

  15. JustMe says:

“Which is slightly part of the reason why we want to get around the U.K. now, and see as many places in the U.K. we may not have been to very much to try and understand some of the more complex challenges, some of the slightly more tucked away challenges that people find hard to talk about.”
Meaning ~ WE HAVE BEEN TOLD (FORCED?) to DO MORE by visiting the many places and people we have until now ignored in order to look like we really are ready to work as Senior Royals now that the spotlight will be on us as the Future Future King and Kween of Keenness!

    • Becks1 says:

RIGHT? That reads like “we’ve been told we cant just hang around London and Norfolk all the time.”

    • Elle says:

      Yes! Lesser-known-England must be thrilled!

I thought this was so funny, too, like, “Don’t worry, peasants, we’ll get to you all SOON!”

    • notasugarhere says:

After nine years, they’re finally going to start looking at the UK.

I remember someone suggesting years ago that local communities in the UK needed to be setting up Holiday/tour type events for W&K. Maybe that way they’d be willing to visit places in the UK, instead of having 1/3 to 1/2 of their engagements each year being fun-heavy (not work-heavy) tours overseas.

  16. girl_ninja says:

I don’t like anything that Kate wears. I just don’t. She doesn’t even look comfortable in her own clothes and her posture is terrible.

  17. Charfromdarock says:

“ Charles Foster Kane and Rosebud, seen above.“

Oh Kaiser, that and the photo selection are priceless!

  18. Kyle says:

Is Kate suffering from an eating disorder? Compare the picture of her in the white bikini to the way she looks now, which by the way she looked fabulous. In that top picture posted today she looks like a bobble head.

    • Beach Dreams says:

No one knows, but people have pointed out the disconcerting difference, and most have done it respectfully (despite being attacked by others for doing so). I don’t get why some are so upset at discussion on Kate’s drastic and alarming weight loss when many commenters have had no problems talking about Meghan’s body in not so nice ways. The facts are the facts: this is NOT Kate’s natural body weight by a long shot and she’s only gotten more frail in appearance in the past year.

      • lingli says:

I may get shouted down on this, but I do wonder sometimes if the clothes she’s been wearing more recently have been chosen to try to disguise how thin she’s gotten. For example, yesterday’s coat with the boob pocket-flaps, the dresses with the pussy-bows and flowing sleeves and skirts, and the other embellishments that often appear unnecessary (buttons, flaps, etc).

      • Amy Too says:

If it was just her weight that people were noticing and she looked super healthy besides that, then I can see how people might think we were “concern trolling” out of jealousy. But it’s the combination of her new weight, and her frailness, and how she always looks so drawn/pinched/ill, and the fact that she literally cannot hold her own body up. Her posture is getting worse every year and she gets thinner ever year. She does not look well. She looks ill and the most obvious symptom that people are noticing is how incredibly tiny she is.

      • Becks1 says:

@lingli – that could be. Her coat looked weirdly bulky on her yesterday.

And in general, its not just that she’s skinny. It’s that I see her now and am taken aback by how skinny she is. I remember having similar reactions around her wedding, which I kind of understood – but I feel like she is skinnier now than she was then. That, coupled with how she looks drawn/pinched like AmyToo said – and I do actually worry about her. I’m not her biggest fan, but I don’t want her to be sick/unhealthy, you know?

      • Lady D says:

The above picture is kind of startling showing how skinny she has gotten. For some reason all the patterns on the dress just emphasize the bones poking out.

      • Silas says:

@Lingli. That’s what I think as well. All that fabric and pattern is meant to hide her.

The picture of her outside must have been photoshopped. It was a stark contrast to the pictures I saw of her inside the venues. Pictures of the sharpness in her face in profile are not good.

      • BarbN says:

She really does look painfully thin. The pleats in the skirt, and the print itself, would make an average-sized woman with curves look very bulky, especially on camera. Even considering that the “camera adds ten pounds”, Kate appears frail and bony.

      • A says:

It’s not just the weight loss. I think the weight loss can even be explained away and excused in some sense. It’s the fact that she just looks exhausted, all of the time, whenever we see her in public. She has dark circles under her eyes, and she just looks tired. I know people will say it’s the fact that she has three kids to look after, and I don’t doubt that they’re a lot of work for even the cushiest, richest housewife with a battery of nannies to do the work, but I know women who have 3 kids and a busy career who don’t get much sleep, and they don’t look like this. She looks ill, and I don’t think it’s from an eating disorder.

      • Lucy De Blois says:

I had an eating disorder on my teens and it lasted a long, long time. I could heal when I got out of a toxic environment. I just said that because on this line it seems the people is open to talk about the subject without slamming the commentator.

Let me tell you, and forgive me if I’m wrong, I recognize on her all the signals of what I had. If the person succeds in gaining three or four miserable pounds, it’s enough one little detail of the daily life and you loose from day to night those hard earned pounds. The clothes might be an asset for her dressmaker to disguise it.

She was a little better several months ago but near the end of last year, boy! She certainly got back. Now she looks all bones. It can be the angle of the pictures, I don’t know.
Eating disorder is closed linked with toxic or emotionally cold households. It’s very serious and nobody should be ashamed of talking about or ignoring like if it didn’t exist.

    • ChillyWilly says:

She looks really sickly in these pics. Her face is so gaunt. She looks like she’s been through the wringer.

    • The Recluse says:

She is beginning to look alarmingly thin.

    • Jaded says:

I think Kate is a stranger in a strange land. She has neither the intelligence nor the chutzpah to create a visible and independent role other than wife of and mother of. She’s palpably uncomfortable doing any public speaking, exacerbated by a philandering husband where news of his indiscretions is just a news article away from breaking. The stress is clearly getting to her and the only thing she can control is her weight. She clearly is struggling with some stress-related eating phobias. Well all I can say is be careful what you wish for….

      • Silas says:

I think she has untreated ADHD. It would explain so much including the anxiety and avoidance issues, and lateness, and general inconsistency and hyperfocus on some subjects. But don’t get me wrong. She’s also clearly apathetic about work and seems very self-absorbed.

It runs in families and James has it. Maybe her recent confidence was in part because she received treatment herself because of James’ diagnosis.

      • A says:

Also, let’s be honest–I don’t think she really cares to do any actual work. That’s not why she married into the royal family. She didn’t get her wagon hitched to William so that she can do her job as a public figure, she did it for the title, for her mummy’s ambitions, so that she can lord it over the rest of the aristocratic folks (all of whom are incredibly class and title conscious) that Middleclass Middleton is the HRH and going to be Queen and they’re not. Rose Hanbury might have the money and the idyllic country life, but she still has to curtsy to Kate whenever she sees her, and you can bet your bottom dollar that that pisses Rose off like nothing else.

      • Lucy De Blois says:

A: please, don’t get me wrong, but I think it’s a very poor reward for Kate to have Rose curtsying to her. She looks worn out. And I don’t know if you agree, but everyday her eyes, her face look more distant; like if she was not all there. When she’s talking to someone, she interacts like if she was trying to lift up a BMW. Maybe just my imagination.

    • Elisa says:

she does look strung-out, but that’s surprising considering what was going on over the last few months.

  19. Goldengirlslover34 says:

Love the print but the style is just… Ugh! I wish it was a cleaner wrap style dress. The pussy bow with the puffy sleeves and the wrists. It looks so old in many ways and she is so young and tall. I don’t shop Zara but I thought it was more youthful and trendy? Is this a trend that I am missing?

  20. Vava says:

That dress is 100% polyester. Makes my skin crawl just looking at it. The pussy bow ruins it. I don’t mind the pattern on the fabric, but the fiber content is a huge NO for me. At least she did manage to take her coat off and stay awhile this time, though. 😉

    • BeanieBean says:

Me, too. I could feel that dress just looking at it, all the way down to the wrists. I wore dresses like that in the ’80s, which is why I just can’t tolerate polyester anymore. I’m not going back to the hot, red, itchy skin.

  21. Chrissy says:

They look so uncomfortable and obviously forced to visit a place with visible minorities to smooth over their BS with H&M. I laughed out loud when someone presented Kate with roses. I choose to believe that someone is majorly trolling her/ them.

  22. sue denim says:

Aside from the ugly cheapness of her look, I think of Zara as fast fashion and a major problem for the environment, so…personally, I wish she’d set a better example that way too…

    • Silas says:

I guess Zara won’t receive one of William’s special environmental prizes.

    • Elisa says:

meh, I love Zara because it’s affordable and OK quality. I buy most of my clothes second-hand, however.

    • A says:

Oh but she doesn’t have to set a better example on that front, you see. Her husband has a fancy environmental award thing that’s gonna solve all of that any day now, so she can shop all her fast fashion looks to her heart’s content. Also, haven’t you heard, she flies on budget airlines now, empty planes that have to be flown across the country just for her so that she can do better for the environment by reducing her carbon footprint. All of that warrants at least 3 ugly polyester dresses from Zara that won’t break down in a landfill, right? Give her some credit, she’s more than earned her right to pollute the environment with her ugly ass clothes after all of this work she’s done.

  23. MellyMel says:

That dress is horrid and so dated! Zara makes really cute clothes (though they are fast fashion, so not great for the environment) and that’s what she picks?

  24. Mego says:

I suppose the era of trouser wearing Kate, however brief, is over. She really loves wearing dresses.

    • Alexandria says:

To be fair she and any woman can wear what they like as long as it fits the setting.

    • Silas says:

No Meghan to compete with anymore.

      • Mego says:

That’s what I am thinking. I think she is more comfortable in dresses and don’t intend it as a criticism. In the same way I think Meghan struggled wearing dresses and hats at some of her appearances because she is a very modern woman.

  25. fatladysinging says:

What I read in between the lines was some low-key nagging about “bootstrapping” and “personal responsibility.”

    • A says:

Exactly this. I didn’t talk about it in my own comment, but I’m getting a huge whiff of the whole, “The government doesn’t have a responsibility to alleviate poverty, that’s on the people in these communities!!!!” attitude from William here.

  26. Lilly (with the double-L) says:

I’ve worked with many people (men) who’ve blanded their way through years on the job, no waves, no progress, little work, which is what I thought of seeing their coverage the other day. They pop-up on accounts I’ve forgotten to unfollow, then I do. I don’t wish them unhappiness, they’ll keep appealing to the ones who appreciate their bland predictability. But, I do think William has been intentionally unkind to his brother and sister-in-law, hence the unfollowing although I hope they find a content life. Kind of like I wish for the world in general, as taught, and learned, from my grandma.

  27. kerwood says:

Like William and the rest of his family worked to help Harry and Meghan? William is such an asshole. He’s trying to make this ALL ABOUT HIM and how hard things have been for HIM. Here’s you future king, England.

That dress is DIABOLICAL in its ugliness. I hope Kate is going to have to wear more high street clothing now, to make her the ‘people’s princess’. Put away the Alexander McQueen’s, Keen Katie. Zara and budget travel is good enough for you.

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

I know. It irks me when people say that William and Kate don’t complain like Harry and Meghan do. Um, complain about WHAT, exactly? I keep asking for someone to tell me what William and Kate have to complain about, such that their stoic refrain is deserving of admiration. But I never get any answers. The only things I can remember are William’s affair rumors and criticism of Kate’s laziness and appearance (skirts flying up, her hair extensions). And for those, they complained LOUDLY and threatened to sue. They can complain about pointing out Kate’s hair extension, and yet they are praised for “not complaining.” Harry and Megan complain about racist attacks, and they are criticized for “complaining.” The double standard (i.e., racism) is so obvious.

      • A says:

It’s especially funny because William especially HAS complained, numerous times in the past, about the press. He’s been open about how much he hates the press. In one of the very few positive things I saw about Meghan, one of the photographers in the royal rota talked about how she always makes sure to schedule her events such that the press can actually get to them on time, and that she always does her best to make sure that the photographers can get their shots, and that she went out of her way to make sure they were comfortable and looked after. This was in direct contrast to the Cambridges, who would purposefully attempt to screw over the rota and make it harder for them to do their jobs by messing up shots of the Cambridges entering/exiting their engagements, etc. William has ALWAYS had an adverserial relationship with the press! He just recently threatened to sue the pants off of them if they came clean about the Rose Hanbury story, and the tabloids basically censored themselves. Why does no one talk about that? Why is it always the Sussexes who hate the press? The press is going to find out soon enough that William isn’t gonna play ball with them now that they can’t serve his own interests, and he’s gonna find out that the press doesn’t like being yanked around like this and told to shut up through threats of legal action. Harry is doing the Cambridges a big favour by taking on the tabloid media. Holding them accountable is a good thing. It protects not just Meghan and Harry, but William and Kate and their kids too.

Man can his jaw be anymore clenched in that pic? I saw the press building them up yesterday. Lol, it’s going to be really entertaining when the honeymoon is over. Because eventually money is going to become more important to the media. Harry was smart to get his family away from the toxicity of the uk.

  29. Guest says:

Lmao right under the first picture I got an ad for the Adam’s family movie. It kind of fits. 😂

Okay, I’m gonna be shallow for a minute.

    Kate’s Wardrobe. Good. Lord.

Honestly, her dresses always look like they came from the 1974 Simplicity Pattern catalog. Seriously. I defy you to google “Simplicity Patterns 1974” and see for yourself. Long sleeves, bat wings, bow-tied necks. It’s all right there. It’s like Bea Arthur’s ghost has taken over as Kate’s closet manager.

To clarify: none of us knows that Kate contributed in any way to Sussexit, or that she is happy about it. She may have wanted to support them more publicly, but been dissuaded by William, who is the one with the major problem and terrible attitude toward the Sussexes. There’s no proof whatsoever that Kate is behind all the “embiggening”, or that she is gloating. For all we know, she liked having another young royal bride to take some of the spotlight off her, and is sorry to see the Sussex’s leave. Your entire take on this is hypothetical, and the vitriol expended against anything Kate says or does is pretty depressing to me. I love Meghan more than Kate and find Meghan much more impressive, but I still don’t think Kate is Maleficent.

    • Nic919 says:

There is no direct evidence of Kate gloating, but there is direct evidence that she did not publicly support her sister in law in any way. She made sure to release statements to deny the use of botox and extensions, but did nothing to shut down the crying story or really anything else. Harry publicly defended Kate and he was often the one to be friendly to her at engagements when William was being his usual dour self. What does she do in return for his wife? Absolutely nothing. Kate is a fully formed adult and if she is going to blame her husband for her complete silence, then it says a lot about her and it’s not positive at all.

    • Beach Dreams says:

Her mother has shaded Meghan publicly. She made a dig about how “being royal isn’t all about making speeches” in an interview done shortly after a tour where Meghan made 4 well-received speeches.

After her habit of doing a once in a blue moon rewear, Kate was suddenly rewearing outfits multiple times in one month when the press was hyper focused on “spendthrift” Meghan’s wardrobe. The Middletons in general are known to have connections to outlets like the Daily Mail and Tatler. There have been countless stories focusing exclusively on propping up Kate at the expense of Meghan. At first these stories were framed as Kate being a benevolent guide to “wayward” Meghan, then there was outright vitriol after the tour.

Let’s not forget the subtle yet telling moments in the months after the Sussex wedding. At family events and engagements, Kate seemed to suddenly forget to make space for other royals on the balconies and walkways, and William would have to tell her to move at all of these events. We’re all free to believe what we want on Kate’s involvement in the smear campaign, and I personally believe she’s a happily active participant. As for the question of gloating, I think she’s probably less happy than her husband would be.

    • Silas says:

Kate participated in the budget plane stunt. There’s no getting around that unless you believe in that marriage she isn’t allowed to say no to her husband.

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

When Meghan was being attached by racists, the royal family couldn’t even put out a statement about the racism without ALSO including Kate as an equal victim of bullying. She couldn’t allow a discussion on racism without covering it up with a blanket of “But Kate is a victim too!” Not allowing a black woman to address racism without interjecting yourself (a white woman) as an equal victim, is racism. And if Kate didn’t have anything to do with that, I will point out that she ALSO did not try to retract, distance herself, or apologize for it either. She is totally complicit in how Meghan was treated.

Kate’s uni friend is the editor of Tatler and named Meghan no 1 social climber. If my friend was going to publically call my sister in law a social climber I would call them up and ask them not to do that. Camilla Tominey Called Meghan a ‘terrorist’ for the grenfell cook book and she was invited to Pippa middletons wedding and publically bragged about having Kate’s mobile number. If she wanted to end the feud rumours all it would have taken is a couple of pap shots of them hanging out and it would have put a lot to rest. But she couldn’t even do that.

Lol. Stagnant like your wife doing 1980’s cosplay of your dead mother’s fashion??

  33. Mads says:

I know Kate loves having children but I wonder if she considers the toxic emotional environment they will grow up in. Charles and Diana throwing each other under the bus; Charles using William and Harry in the rehabilitation campaign for Camilla; Charles and William briefing their favourite royal reporter sycophants. Uncle Andy being protected by the palace and the press for years. Does she have the insight to look at what has happened with William’s jealousy and how it has destroyed his relationship with Harry; do her or William ever consider George acting the same way if Charlotte and Louis get better press? No wonder Harry and Meghan want out.

    • Silas says:

She probably thinks she can raise her kids to be like the more close-knit Middleton siblings. William will be more like Philip in laying down the law than a permissive Charles or the Queen playing favorites.

    • A says:

I think that Kate and William are both sincere when they say they want to give their children a different upbringing than the one William had. William especially, until quite recently, was fully invested in protecting them from the press and, I imagine, the rest of the family at large. It was only after Harry got married to Meghan that he flipped his everloving sh-t. Suddenly, the grey suits (who William didn’t like all that much either!) were suddenly looking like really good allies if it meant tearing down his sister-in-law and the brother that, until his marriage, William got to periodically throw under the bus for his own benefit, whose popularity and notoriety he could use to deflect from his own life and foibles as he desired.

I don’t think William ever intended for Harry to step back as a senior royal. I think he fully expected to be able to leverage his brother’s loyalty and sense of duty to his family to guilt trip him into staying. I don’t think William has fully thought about what comes next, but whatever it is, it’ll never be quite like it was before, and I don’t think he knows that, really.

  34. Ginger says:

Kate and Wills handled challenges and overcame obstacles by throwing Meg and Harry to the wolves in order to distract from his affair with Rose Hanbury.

  35. yinyang says:

What the heck is he rambling on about.

  36. A says:

God that dress is just horrifying.

These just seem like a lot of empty words from William. He wants to get around the UK more *now*? You’ve had your whole adult life to do that. What the f-ck was ever stopping you from doing anything?

I think there will always been a sense of discomfort with the Cambridges and the press, even after everything that’s happened. I never got the impression that the embiggening was all that sincere. It seemed like the media wanted to craft a narrative foil to the picture they had painted of Meghan, which required a pure innocent English rose figure who’s just so put upon and trying her hardest to keep the family together. Now the Sussexes are gone. The media might very well choose to gloat for the time being, but then what? Who will they focus their ire on after? Who’s left?

I predict that at some point, maybe a few years from now, there’s gonna be a pendulum swing over to spotlighting the Middletons, and not in a good way. The trouble with cozying up to the trashy tabloid media types is that they’re never going to be loyal to you as a whole. You can give them all the photo ops of your children they ask for, all the insider access they desperately need, and make friends with them and their editors left right and center. But when the chips are down, and there’s a livelihood at stake, the ultimate loyalty of a group of people who have never been invested in telling the whole truth will be to money. I don’t think they ever really liked William all that much. I think between him and Harry, they preferred him, but that’s a whole lot different from liking him as a person, and I think the Cambridges are gonna have a sh-tty relationship with the press for the rest of their lives from now on.

Why do all the people who sympathise with Harry following his mother’s coffin seem to forget there were two sons following the coffin?
