Kate Gosselin in second weepy TV appearance; Jon & Hailey shop for a Porsche

Kate Gosselin appears on “Regis & Kelly” this Thursday in a segment that was taped yesterday. The NY Daily News has the details, and Kate gets sort-of blubbery at one point. The way the News explains it, Kate was typically harsh when Regis caught her off guard with the question of whether she’ll reconcile with Jon, and she shot Regis down. Her voice started breaking a little bit later and she said “I didn’t expect my life to be like this.” Kate also started crying in an interview on “The Today Show” that aired on Monday. She began to cry when she explained she was still wearing her wedding ring for her kids. It sounds like she’s still having trouble in interviews, but didn’t lose it this time. But Regis must have struck a cord when he mentioned a reunion. He sounds like such an old guy with that “you’ll get back together and live happily ever after” line.

Insiders say that the interview, which airs Thursday on “Live with Regis and Kelly,” was meant to be light and fluffy in the wake of Kate’s “Today” show breakdown this week. But it turned serious when Philbin went off-script and bluntly asked whether Kate could see herself reconnecting with hubby Jon.

“I can’t and won’t answer that,” the uncomfortable octomom said, stating firmly, “I keep certain things private, and that’s one.” Perhaps the 77-year-old host should have kept his opinions similarly discreet, but he didn’t. “I think you [and your husband] will get back together and live happily ever after,” Philbin said. “I think everything is going to work itself out — he’ll say he’s sorry, that he loves you and everything will be good.”

A shocked Kate had no response as the show cut to a commercial break.

Later in the interview, Kate confessed her hope that she and Jon can get past their animosity, despite his recent extracurricular activities. The 32-year-old has squired wild child Hailey Glassman and former tabloid reporter Kate Major — and last weekend, reports surfaced that he’d spent the night with a 23-year-old baby-sitter who’d been caring for his kids. Regardless, Kate said her goal is to enjoy holidays and family time together again — unmarried.

“I didn’t expect my life to be like this,” Gosselin said, her voice cracking.

Says one audience member: “The only thing that seemed to be holding Kate together was Kelly [Ripa]. They really clicked — you could tell Kelly was completely sympathetic. Kate seemed so down. Even during the break, she appeared to be on the verge of tears.”

[From The NY Daily News]

I still don’t feel much sympathy for this woman, but I get that she’s going through a hard time and is trying to cope with the demise of her marriage. I believe her that she didn’t cheat, but I do think she came down hard on her husband, kicked him out of the house, and is now unwilling to admit that she broke it off before he went off with all those coeds. She was totally hedging when Meredith Viera asked her when the marriage ended and it was obvious she didn’t want to admit it was over months ago. Maybe she thought that by making Jon live over the garage he’d shape up and treat her and the kids better. Instead he decided that meant that he had no responsibilities and that he could sleep with whoever he wanted and be a dad when it was convenient.

Meanwhile Jon continues to pull asinine stunts that are starting to convince me that he really needs to get bossed around in order to move his lazy ass at all. He’s back together with former drug dealer Hailey Glassman after stringing along that Star reporter who quit her job and did a tell-all interview with E! when he dumped her. Jon, who relies on his wife to bring in the money by dealing with TLC for their reality show, was looking at Porsches with Hailey. This guy has eight kids and virtually no independent income and he’s looking at Porsches. Just yesterday we heard that Kate is trying to make sure their reality show continues in order to support the lifestyle she’s accustomed to. Jon is going to get creamed in the divorce due to all the evidence of his affairs and won’t be able to keep blowing money like that. He also already has a new car that he just bought this spring, a white Nissan Nismo Z, which retails at $37,000 and up, and was recently spotted buying $1,000 shoes.

Many of you say you’re hoping these two will go away. My money is on Kate for continuing on in the spotlight. Jon is just too stupid and slow to work the media in any capacity. He’s been used for publicity by various skanks, including Christian Audiger and Michael Lohan, and gave a terrible interview to In Touch. He needs someone to kick his ass in order to get anything done. He’s going to waste all his money and end up a sad mess if he keeps going the way he is.

I’ve never watched their show. I’ve heard about the way Kate treated Jon, but after seeing all the press about them lately, I have to say that I’m sympathizing with Kate at this point. I always thought “douche” was a ridiculous insult, but I think the insult was created for Jon Gosselin. He personifies it!

  2. Ramona says:

Kate has selectively chosen to alienate everybody around her with her brash prickly holier than thou attitude including her husband of ten years. Even her own biological family can’t stand her because she has driven them away with snide comments and rudeness…You can only get away with that so long, I have never seen her with a friend nor anyone close to her that was willing to give her a shoulder to cry on…I have known people like that and it seems as though in order to bring attention to themselves weather it be negative or positive they have to act in a domineering way to get the reaction they need to sustain their self worth…If that includes degrading someone or robbing them of their dignity as well as disrespecting them with no thought of how it affects their feelings it doesn’t matter…the goal and its affectiveness has still been achieved…People like Kate live in their own little world and they never lay blame on themselves for chaos that their actions have created in their lives…That’s why all the weepy tears because she really can’t understand why everybody feels the way they do about her including her husband….Unknowingly, she has created herself a monstrous personality….What she is really becoming is a ‘Pariah’

  3. Anastasia says:

You’re giving her too much credit. She didn’t care about her marriage or Jon, just what it and he could do for her. That’s how narcissists are. It’s all about them. Just listen to her language, even when she tries to make it sound like it’s about the kids, it’s still all me-centered.

I guess what I’m saying is you are assuming she’s an emotionally healthy, well-balanced person and she’s not.

I do still hope they both go away, but they will both make as much money off their kid’s backs as they can and they better hurry because those kids aren’t getting any younger or cuter.

  4. Anastasia says:

Oh and I had to laugh–I read somewhere else that these interviews of hers are being called “Victim Tour ’09.” Pretty apt. Seems to be working with some people.

  5. bros says:

I agree with Ramona. she has no friends or family. she alienates everyone. she didnt want to go to counseling, and even though it was jon who said it, I totally believe Kate was the type who didnt want to work on herself, compromise, or admit any of her behavior and the effect it has on people. none of her interviews have her showing the slightest ability to have any insight into her behavior or what contributed to the divorce. she keeps playing the victim card, the why me, the i didnt expect my life to turn out this way.

her words show she has totally exonerated herself in this whole mess, and she CANNOT own any of her behavior or acknowledge anything, besides the offhandish ‘it takes two to tango’ line. these people both suck so hard.

  6. tinlizzy says:

I think it’s too much to hope that they’ll “go away” any time soon, as much as I wish it would happen. It is sad to see how greedy these two have become – lord, have their tastes in “things” just went through the roof or what? They’re both like little kids being let loose in a candy shop – and they will never, ever, be satisfied with the simple things in life again. I just can’t help but wonder when their balloon is going to pop and they’ll be back in poverty-land? Those poor kids are the ones being shoved to the side while these two idiots live their private lives out in public with their bickering and pointing fingers – they have BOTH totally forgotten their responsibility, which is the 8 kids. All these two are worried about is making sure the money machine keeps rolling down the track – please let their be a derailment soon.

  7. Cinderella says:

The fact that she doesn’t have any visible friends says a lot about her.

I agree, she’s not upset over losing Jon, she’s upset that their machine is about to die.

The show won’t last another season. Once TLC is done with them, where is her backup plan? I don’t see any big endorsements or talk shows being created for her. They only get press because of the drama. Aside from that, they have nothing to offer.

Being tabloid fodder won’t pay the bills for long.

  8. Ramona says:

    Right on bros!!…

  9. princess pea says:

Ramona, that’s a really apt description I think. I’ve known people like that too.

What’s bugging me right now is the report that TLC put the kibosh on Jon doing interviews while Kate is allowed to going swanning around on her Victim Tour (brilliant!). It’s disgusting that they would take sides in this, but they very clearly have.

  10. Kerri says:

I think Jon is trying to get all that he can while he can cause he will be creamed in the divorce especially because of his parading around with every female he comes into contact with.

It does seem strange to me though that both Jon and Kate are quite adamant that there is not going to be a reunion. After ten years and eight children one would think they would try to patch things up at some point. Maybe that’s the part they kept out of the media.

  11. MSat says:

Hmm, I wonder how many kids you can fit in a Porsche? When my ex husband left me and our children in a house that was in foreclosure (which I didn’t find out about until he was gone), he went out and bought himself a Mercedes and a new motorcycle. The selfishness of Jon comes a pretty close second.

  12. Linda says:

Cinderella – you are right – Kate isn’t crying over the loss of Jon – she is crying over the loss of future income that will continue to pay for nannies, housekeepers, cooks, etc. She’s crying because now she has to pump her own gas at the gas station. She is self-centered and she has made it clear over the years that the only person she cares about is herself. Heaven forbid that TLC doesn’t turn around the public’s hatred of her and allow her to continue exploiting her own children – because if TLC doesn’t turn it around – it means she’ll have to go back to cooking, cleaning and taking care of her children. This is a woman who would let the laundry pile up in baskets waiting for some other woman to come in and fold it and yet another woman put it away because she’s a freaking princess!

The pity party is so transparent and I cannot believe the sympathy that anyone would give to this bitch.

  13. Magsy says:

Stop giving this weepy woman so much media coverage. So they’re getting divorced, BFD, so are over half of the couples in the country. Deal with it.

  14. Ramona says:

Responding to Princess pea….I know right??? Her condescending asinine attitude just astounds me….But, I do think that is one of the reasons that viewers are tuning in by the thousands including myself….yes I admit it, I do watch with salivating anticipation every time she is on because she is fascinating in a bizarre way I guess, You just never know what is going to come out of her mouth….Believe me, I do not watch the show for the kids…I watch it because of the high drama…So, here’s the thing, I think TLC is crazy like a fox…they would be insane to let go of this train wreck of gravy…..Because clearly just by looking at the ratings people are watching…its kinda like the channel you say you want to change because you know its just wrong…but we watch anyway even if its with just one eye open….lol…

  15. amy says:

I feel the same about the Jon and Kate and their brood as I do Nadya Suleman and Paris Hilton ….GO AWAY ALREADY.! God, when are thier 15 minutes going to be up?

  16. Leticia says:

I’ve never seen their show. My opinions are based on what I have read.

In the past I have disapproved of bossy wives who publicly humiliate their husbands. But based on his recent actions I have reached the conclusion that he needs a woman in his life to boss him around! This guy was made for a woman like Kate, otherwise he will be homeless soon. He should crawl back to her across broken glass and they should televise it.

Come to think of it, they were a match made in heaven. She needs a man to dominate and he needs to be dominated!

  17. tamikla says:

I thought Regis and Kelly was a live show. Why is it called “Regis and Kelly Live”?

Concerning, the Gosslin’s. They seem to be blowing through the kid’s money

  18. tamikla says:

Good Point MSat, when I think of family car Porsche doesn’t come to mind.

  19. Ramona says:

Amy, Wake up…Have you been living under a rock….I think all these people you just mentioned have had just a little more than fifteen minutes and I think they will have a lot more….I among many many thousands of others find them all fascinating and enjoy the drama emincely…that’s the point …If you “want them to go away already,” then why are you even here commenting in this forum….You should just ‘Go Away Already’…

  20. tamikla says:

I miss the days when people were celebrities for their talent. You know acting, singing, writing, their actual art.

  21. Amy says:

I get the impression that not only is Ramona a true fan of the show and the people in it she is in fact obsessed with them. Ramona dear, turn off the TV, stand up, open the door, walk out, see the world around you. Now…Live you life. See how easy that was. Now, repeat everyday until you feel that you have broken away from that square box that the rest of us call a TV.

  22. Zanna says:

    Ramona…what is this word? emincely?

It’s immensely. You probably should do more than watching television.

  23. Ramona says:

Thank you for the correction Zanna…I tried to google that word and still couldn’t get it right….But thanks for pointing out my obvious illiteracy…(did I spell that right?) You must be so much smarter than me….wow!!!

Oh…and Amy….If making a couple of comments about a celebrity makes you obsessed well then I guess you got me….Oh and I live on a tropical island and I see more of the world than you do I think…Amy Dear!!!

  24. Amy says:

    LOL……

  25. Amy says:

What island do you live on?

  26. Ramona says:

Dauphin Island…Amy, Thank You for being so interested….

  27. Amy says:

So cool. We were just there a couple of weeks ago. Seriously. On vacation. Used Dauphin Island Realty on Beinville to rent our house. It really is a nice island. However, you really need to go to the Bahamas or Caymans. Those are great too. Dauphin Island is great though. Just wish there was somewhere else to shop for Groc. than the little grab and get it near the bridge.Greers is great , but to far away. Also, love the Lighthouse Bakery! When we were there the “jellies” were starting to come in.

  28. Amy says:

Ramona, it’s a small world isn’t it? Very cool.

  29. Ramona says:

Ramona ….laughing at Amy…I guess you are right girl…we could have passed each other on the beach…But this is paradise enough for me….

  30. JayBird says:

I agree with every single word of this – especially about Jon needing to get bossed around. I’ve seen that in other marriages, where one partner is so lazy that everything falls on the other parent. They end up having to be bossy and disciple for 2 parents instead of one, and that makes them look a lot worse than they actually are. They’re just doing two jobs. And the lazy one gets to keep being lazy, making himself look like the victim in the marriage and just showing up to parent when it’s easy and fun.

I have a lot of sympathy for her until I watch the show and actually hear her tone though. But when I’m simply reading about Jon’s behavior, I can’t help but feel for Kate. She has taken on 8 huge responsibilities – which they signed up for together.

  31. Jacq says:

I can see Jon smoking weed in his Porchse and crashing off a bridge and landing on Kate while she’s fishing. Just like Old School.

  32. DD says:

what possesses people to air their dirty laundry on national tv? I never understood what drives them. I’d be so embarassed.

  33. valupack says:

1st of all- She totally had a boob job! What didn’t she put that episode on TV. Second, anybody that boohoos on tv is a total fake. If you truly are that broken up about something, who wants publicity? I know when I am sad, I just want to be left alone

  34. CeeJay says:

Uh, yeah, “not too many kids fit in a Porsche” indeed. I don’t think Kate has to worry about Jon much longer.” Pretty sure he’s on his way out.

  35. rop says:

These people are not trained celebrities, just reality show stars. So, if they seem like they are making the wrong decisions, they are. When some non-celebrity people split up, shit happens and your emotions are out of control. They were together since they were in there early twenties. SIck of hearing about them, yes. Wanting to beat them up for the decision making-or lack thereof, no.

  36. Amanda says:

I missed the interviews with Kate on both the Today Show and Live with Regis & Kelly. I do sympathize with Kate on a level. It is just pathetic that she won’t admit to the fact that she made this bed and now its time to lay in it. Jon could only take so much of her verbal abuse before he’d had enough. Now that he’s gone (which he is gone off the deep end) she dosen’t know what to do but create a pity party with all the interviews. I know your sad Kate, but suck it up. My husband use to tell me I was exactly like Kate and I use to laugh about it, but now I’m trying to fix it! Kate honey, WAKE UP! No one likes the way you treat them….you are NOT a princess. Go back to being a MOM…you are not a true celebrity.

  37. The Domestic Goddess says:

lol … if no one tuned in, then the show would die. But people being people, people do tune in to watch this misery unfold. As for Kate, well, in one respect I don’t blame her for being upset. If she has worked hard, and done little to bring about all these tabloid stories (and frankly she hasn’t – despite what the rag mags try to create), then having a husband/ex husband who is slutting it up around the country and giving these stupid women fodder for crap entertainment shows to interview them, and the myriad of other unacceptable behaviors from her ex … well … I think she has handled herself well in all. A few tears … so what!
Until people stop buying the rag mags, watching the show and stop tuning into the interviews, this unfortunate state of affairs (no pun intended) will continue.
In the end, I think they will end up back together as in he will run home, with his tail between his legs, because he’s gonna be broke/bankrupt and will need a bed to sleep in – to the attic you go!
