For months now, we’ve barely had any fashion posts because… no red carpets, no awards shows (besides virtual awards shows) and very little Instagram fashion-flaunting. But maybe the Instagram flaunting is coming back, and God knows, I think we could all use some dumb, fun fashion talk. So here we go. If you had the money – and that’s a big IF – would you spend $5,350 on a ROBE? A fancy Ralph and Russo silk robe? Olivia Culpo spent that on a robe and she posted it on the ‘gram.
Olivia Culpo is upgrading her stay-at-home wardrobe. The model, 28, shared a mirror selfie on Monday while wrapped in a cozy robe — but it wasn’t your typical waffle-weave style. Culpo’s belted tie-dye look hails from haute label Ralph & Russo, and costs a whopping $5,350. It’s made from 100 percent silk and features kimono-style sleeves, a flowing train and a high-low hem.
“This robe is the most extra thing I’ve put my hands on but I’m here for it!,” the star captioned her Instagram shot.
Culpo is no stranger to “extra” loungewear; she previously sported Ralph & Russo’s tie-dye sweatpants ($475) and matching hoodie ($850) for a high-fashion take on the quarantine staple. And the model’s certainly been staying busy while stuck at home; she’s been spending time with her Carolina Panthers boyfriend Christian McCaffrey and designing face masks in partnership with Express, with proceeds going toward Feeding America.
As I looked through Olivia’s IG, I noticed that half of her posts are sponcon (in THIS economy?!) so it’s possible that Ralph and Russo is paying her for this, or that she got the robe for free so she could feature it on her Insta. Like, if I was rich as hell, I would absolutely spend big money on lingerie, loungewear, robes, all of that. But I still wouldn’t drop $5350 on this particular robe because it just seems too impractical! It’s a mullet-robe – short in the front and too long in the back. Why does anyone need a train on a robe? If I wore that robe, my cat would be obsessed with it and he would probably climb on for a ride.
Here’s the mask thing she did for charity:

Yeah bet she got it for free, even if I was crazy rich I don’t know if I’d pay so much for clothes, don’t you worry about like staining it with food or ruining something so expensive while wearing it? Or you just don’t care because you have so much money? Also, in the header pic she looks so much like Rose Byrne!
Love the colors! Just chop off the train. I was happy to see a photo of her without sideboob tbh.
If it looked like a fifty-five hundred dollar robe, maybe? Whoever purchases that is doing so ONLY for the price tag lol.
Yeah, good point, it doesn’t LOOK expensive, if I’m spending that much on it, it better look it but I’m tacky like that.
It’s totally impractical, but it is so beautiful. I love the way it spills on the floor. As a piece of art, I think it’s great. I’d trip over the train, though.
My cat would totally be on that train, claws in, riding all over the house as I walked. It’s so impractical. Even if I had the money I’d pass on this one.
If we were not in the middle of a pandemic, she would have worn that to the opening of a envelope.
I would wager money on it.
I agree. There is no one who would wear a robe with a train. She would have worn it out for sure.
I prefer the the animal-print mask.
I wouldn’t do it, but I feel like an expensive robe is more practical than an expensive outfit, because you may wear it daily.
It’s tacky-looking, though.
I hate this kind of pastel colors lol sorry
And her bedroom looks empty?
I’ll stick with my practical, won’t trip me going down the stairs, terrycloth robe, thanks,
Also, I find it a little gross to be flaunting that kind of price tag right now, and at the same time asking people to buy your masks to raise money for Feeding America.
There are some stunning silk dressing gowns (think downtown abbey) I would buy if I had $ in a heartbeat. But even though are still about $2k. For that much money, it had better come with free coffee as well.
This is going to look dated so fast with the pastel tie dye, and the train is ridiculous.
If the front was longer and there was no train, and the pattern was different, maybe.
Even in just a white or cream or mmm deep red this would be so much better.
This kind of thing just seems like a waste of resources at the moment. I wonder if silk makes good mask material?
I think it is beautiful, but I think it is just an ad and goes right back to the designers.
It’s pretty I like the pattern and arms, but chop the train. I would pay 30 bucks for a knock off on Zulily.
And I hope she doesn’t return it, her tittie germs are on it.
I mean, it’s a robe that sweeps your floors. What more do you want?
