It’s perfectly normal to poop, too, but that doesn’t mean everyone wants to watch someone else do it.

Just because something is “natural” or “normal” doesn’t mean that it’s for everyone. You are being very judgemental here. This is a personal decision that each person/couple should make for themselves.

What’s right for one person is not necessarily right for someone else. That doesn’t make either person superior to the other. It just makes them different, which is also “normal” and “natural.”

let’s be honest. Breast feeding is not comparable to watching a live birth. There is no blood, fluids and grossness when breastfeeding is involved. If people have a hard time with it, who are you to condemn or judge them for it?

It has nothing to do with vanity and everything to do with dealing with something that is not pretty. You can say it’s amazing all you want, i’m sure it is, but it’s still gory.

What a bunch of wimps…. I understand IF someone doesn’t want to watch, but come on –scarring for life?? SERIOUSLY? Have we become so vain in our lives, that we can’t appreciate something amazing like the creation of life?

I watched my first child born C Section, watched my 2nd born vaginally (and cut the cord). All I saw were my beautiful daughters being born. The rest is just nature. I never looked at my wife any differently. I never cared that she didn’t have the same figure. I always saw her as the mother of my children!!

I am so blessed that I was able to witness my daughters’ births!!

veganmama– Some people just don’t want to see all the blood and gore that happens.
Personally, I can watch a vaginal birth but it does gross me out a little.
As for c-sections, I can’t watch those.
And breastfeeding has been making a comeback. Although most moms don’t breastfeed for very long it’s still an improvement.
I think it’s natural, but I still used a blanket. I didn’t want everyone seeing my boob. And I didn’t want to make anyone uncomfortable.

Love the part about studying and watching the twins at the same time. As somebody who went to law school, let me tell you they expect a lot more time than old Jerry realizes. The first time a professor on monday morning hands him 500 pages to read by wednesday, he’s going to have a wake-up call.

I think these comments are so sad but not surprising. Birth has been totally removed from our culture, just like breastfeeding. Like breastfeeding, people have a ‘I don’t want to see that” attitude even though it’s perfectly normal. I’ve had the honor of witnessing 2 births other than my own and most people I know are envious!! I couldn’t have paid my husband not to watch his sons being born – he wouldn’t have missed it for the world.

I’m more impressed that he went grocery shopping with his twins with no nanny, assistant or friend in sight. I’ve never seen any of the female celebrities who like promote themselves as “normal moms” do that. Rebecca is one lucky woman.
