Taylor Swift & Kendall Jenner did IG Live events to encourage their fans to vote

Taylor Swift’s political work has really impressed me ever since 2018. That was when she came out of the political closet, declared herself a Democrat who believes in LGBTQ rights and women’s rights, endorsed a Democrat for Tennessee’s Senate seat, and got her Snake Fam to register to vote. Throughout 2020, Taylor has been using social media to call out Donald Trump, slam white supremacy and advocate for Black Lives Matter. But what has she done for us lately?!? LOL, I’m joking! Taylor used her IG Stories on Tuesday to once again encourage her fans to register to vote (Tuesday was National Voter Registration Day) and she gave them some links and resources to get started:

I know people love IG Stories and all of that, but this could have been a stand-alone permanent Instagram post. I’m nitpicking, but still. I really and honestly hope Taylor does more work in the next six weeks to get people to vote. (Also: HER BANGS OMG.)

Meanwhile, Kendall Jenner did an IG Live event with political operative Jon Favreau yesterday too. I love that all of these younger women are using their platforms this way. Y’all know that Kendall is far from my favorite person, but this is GREAT.

Not a cheerleader for Taylor (though I think she’s harmless), and frankly, can’t stand anyone in the Koven, but GOOD ON THEM BOTH for this!! They DO have millions that follow them, and if they get ANYONE out to vote, then YAY!

EVERY VOTE WILL COUNT THIS TIME. Tangerine Traitor MUST be defeated with a landslide big enough to not be able to be disputed, even in a bought and paid for packed SC.

      And please also follow/retweet/share/reblog Biden/Harris.

Follow count and seeing them on time lines matters nowadays.

I like that her curls are coming back. I miss Tay’s curls.

I give them both a round of applause for this. They both have a huge platform, and are using it in a good and important way. I think it’s great Kendall basically gave that platform to Jon, who is very experienced and has tons of good info.

I love that she used her platform in this way, but Kendall was sooooo unengaged while talking to Jon. I think it would have been more effective if she had acted a little excited about people getting out to vote.

It’s great that they’re using their huge platforms like this. And while I cannot stand the Pod Save America guys, but I think it’s great that Kendall Jenner had Jon Favreau on, while I may not like him, he’s obviously a great resource.

I can’t stand the Pod guys either, but I definitely agree. All hands on deck. I can put aside my petty likes and dislikes for sure.

I wish they had more women on, but I find them really knowledgeable and insightful and articulate about the election and the whole trump apocalypse. I also listen to hacks on tap and those guys, who are a lot older, can be pretty annoying, but I’m a political junkie. Love when Alex Wagner is on (the Circus on showtime is another good inside politics show). Jon F’s wife was freaking out in a very cute way while he was talking to Kendall. Don’t care about Kendall, but love all those followers!

I applaud everyone with a platform who uses it to inform and encourage their followers to be politically and socially active. Well done!

Most of us have a platform too.

Even if you only have 10 friends/followers, it matters if they see Biden/Harris tweets etc on their tl. Plus register to vote posts.

Celebitchy, Kaiser etc are already doing a good job, but we can do more online.

Lizzo also did one yesterday with Kamala.

Also, check out “Kal Penn Approves This Message” on Freeform (Tuesdays at 10:30 pm) and Hulu (available on Wednesdays). First episode was on younger voters.

Jon Favreau was Obama’s chief speechwriter, the one they called Obama’s Mindreader. After Obama, it would be such a step down to work for anyone else so some of the Obama communication team started a media company. VoteSaveAmerica’s videos have helped me stay sane, they are more informative than the news and a lot more fun.
