Us Weekly: The Sussexes are ready to ‘expand their family,’ ‘it’s baby time’

Sussex Morocco reception

The Duchess of Sussex was barely seen below the waist for months after she left the UK in March. She appeared on Zoom calls, which we saw often enough, and it was always from the waist up, usually from the chest up. I believed the theory that she had quietly gotten pregnant again and she and Harry just weren’t telling people because… the British press harassed her to a crazy degree during her first pregnancy. But in the end, she wasn’t pregnant this summer. According to Us Weekly, she and Harry want to try for another kid soon though:

Baby watch! Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are ready to expand their family, a source exclusively reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly.

“Now that they’re comfortable in their new home and everything else in their lives is locked in and going well, Meghan’s told Harry it’s baby time,” the source reveals. “She’s ready to be a mom again and can’t wait to start the process!”

Meghan, 39, and Harry, 36, who wed in May 2018, are parents of son Archie, 15 months.

“Meghan loves being a mom, and seeing how happy and complete Harry is with Archie by his side is richly rewarding for her,” the source adds. “Meghan’s confident a second child will be perfectly manageable on a practical level and will bring them even more love and joy. She and Harry are both really excited for the next phase of their family journey.”

“Meghan wanted them to find their footing with Archie first, and also get the big move out of the way and know where they were going career-wise,” the source explains. “Once all that was in place, she gave Harry the go-ahead.”

[From Us Weekly]

It was my belief that Meghan got pregnant easily and naturally with Archie, and I hope that will be the same for her second pregnancy. I think it also makes sense that they were waiting until they got everything settled with their permanent home in Montecito, and the Netflix deal and all of that. Um… what are the chances that Meghan arrives in London in January for her court case against the Mail and she has a little bump? Whew, I can already imagine the meltdowns.

The royal baby countdown is officially on! The Duchess of Sussex looked radiant and beamed with happiness as she left The Mark hotel

It’s my hope she is pregnant and the next news we have is the birth of the baby. Can we hear it now. 🙂 How dare she have a baby in America so far away from Chuckie, Betty and Uncle Andy. 🙂

    • BayTampaBay says:

I hope the Sussexes have a second baby but let’s not forget that Us Weekly is basically poorly written fanfiction sold in the supermarket checkout lines and found most often in Nail and Hair Salons or lining bird cages.

      • KellyRyan says:

I don’t read the tabloids. Harry has said they both want two children. Timing would be good from my experience. Children approximately two years apart in age.

      • Mumbles says:

Yeah I think it was US who told us years ago what great pals Meghan and Kate were, and how Meghan would swing by Apt 1A for a cuppa and a chat all the time when she was still at KP.

And lol, giving Harry the “go ahead”? “Go ahead and impregnate me”? Who comes up with this?

    • Bibi says:

I hope she is pregnant again! Will she or will she NOT give birth in the UK? Will the baby have black or light hair? Court case – will the british press smear her while she is pregnant??? I hope they have someone follow them and film their lives in the US because it would be great a netflix documentary to watch their true lives filmed as the british headlines twists the truth.

    • HeyJude says:

Yes! Without telling anyone she was pregnant, that would be amazing.

There’d be a total meltdown in Britain from the press and the royal vipers who need distracting stories to disguise their own shortcomings.

      • fluffy_bunny says:

We’d probably end up seeing a lot of surrogacy or adoption nonsense stories is they went that route.

  2. Tessa says:

Us is a Cambridge magazine. There was a little dig at Harry on the cover that he would be a “stay at home dad” echoing the talk of the bots who say she will “leave Harry” to take care of the baby while she “Goes for stardom”.

    • minx says:

Really, US just needed a story, they have no insight into the Sussex family planning.

      • kelleybelle says:

Exactly, they needed a story and Harry and Meghan sell. Pure speculation. US is no better than the other tabloids. No one close to them would be “a source” for a lowly tabloid.

  3. Sofia says:

This is just weird. Not only do I not like “bump watching” in general but this article is acting like it’s some new “news” when it would be obvious to anyone that they may have wanted to be settled down before thinking about another baby. But maybe they don’t want one. Maybe she’s already pregnant and wants to enjoy it. Maybe she’s struggling.

This just doesn’t sit right with me. I feel like it also fuels conspiracy theories when they don’t have a kid based on a tabloid’s made up timeline.

    • BayTampaBay says:

@Sofia – I think it is all due to Meghan’s age that tabloids are “safely” predicting a second baby sooner rather than later.

These prediction would not be given a second thought if Meghan was 29 instead of 39.

      • Sofia says:

I don’t think it’s age. That might have a lot to it but the tabloids also kept and keep predicting that William and Kate were going to have a kid soon after another was born and there were in their early/mid 30s for most of it

      • BayTampaBay says:

The USA & British tabloids are STILL predicting Kain & Kant Keen will have a fourth child.

    • lucy2 says:

I agree with all of this, I don’t like pregnancy speculation. It’s really no one’s business, and when it’s super public like that, it’s a lot of pressure and scrutiny on a woman who, frankly, deserves a little privacy and relief.
Their son is just over a year old. The rumors started before he even reached a year. They just moved and started a huge new part of their career.

    • SomeChick says:

Yeah, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: this sort of thing is distasteful and I’d really rather not see it amplified/given attention here. It’s in the realm of body judging, and it icks me out. Glad to see I’m not the only one who feels this way.

Also, being mistaken for pregnant IRL is horrible, even as a Nobody! People need to have some boundaries.

Fun fact: Us Weekly was started by Jann Wenner (same dude who started Rolling Stone). Now it is owned by the NATIONAL ENQUIRER! 100% Pure Trash.

  4. bluemoonhorse says:

“Um… what are the chances that Meghan arrives in London in January for her court case against the Mail and she has a little bump? Whew, I can already imagine the meltdowns.”

And she TOUCHES HER STOMACH!! ROFLMAO!

    • bettyrose says:

Yeah, if she’s pregnant in January, I super friggin’ hope she’s not traveling internationally.

  5. Shirley Gail says:

If she does, and when she does, I hope she hugs her baby belly with both arms and has white candles and many incantations for protection said around her and her husband and son. And lawyers. I hope she can stay safe and the Cartel back the f*ck off.
If the UK ever expect her to grace their lands again, they’d better or her entire public will be the ones incandescent with rage

  6. Becks1 says:

LMAO at this story. Like someone on Team Sussex is telling Us Weekly what Meghan and Harry are planning, family-wise. And OF COURSE it makes sense (if they want a second child) that they would wait to be somewhat settled in California, in their own house, etc. What breaking news lol.

  7. TheOriginalMia says:

Waiting to have a baby until they have a home and stability makes a lot of sense. It really did appear she was hiding a baby, but alas…no. Looking forward to them having another kid. Archie is going to need a companion for exploring their backyard with the dogs.

    • JT says:

Meghan carried very small in the beginning of her pregnancy. In the first trimester you barely tell that she was pregnant. With the right outfit and the right pose, she could be hiding a bump. Everything that she’s been wearing has been very loose. Anything is possible.

  8. Mtec says:

At this point I hope that if Meghan is ever pregnant again that no one finds out until she’s in her 3rd trimester or has already given birth lol. The speculation is tired, irresponsible, and rude at this point. How many times do we talk about not asking people if they’re pregnant or if they plan to be? It’s insensitive and none of our business. Hope if she ever is again, that she and Harry can be as private as possible about it and only announce it when/if they want to.

  9. RoyalBlue says:

and ‘she can’t wait to start the process’ is such a strange thing to say. she can’t wait to have sex???

    • HeatherC says:

Or is the next claim that a second child will arrive only if
      1. Fertility drugs are used
      2. IVF
      3. The above failed so surrogate it is
      4. Adoption (but of course with these tabloids, the shocking headline will be that Harry doesn’t know the second kid is adopted, or they went IVF but Meghan chose not to use his sperm and instead used…I don’t know….Omid’s lol)

    • bettyrose says:

This is why commenting on pregnancies is soooo weird.

  10. S808 says:

I still think (from the outside looking in) they seem too busy for another child right now but that’s all up to them. I hope if they have another child no one knows until it’s well into her pregnancy. They both deserve peace during such a vulnerable time, something they were robbed of during her pregnancy with Archie.

    • L4frimaire says:

Agree. They were so awful to her, especially those last few weeks before the birth. I think how they tried to stress her pregnancy, the ridiculous demands ( you can’t do Lindo, show us the baby, broadcast the christening, touching your bump is showing off) was definitely a deciding factor in them leaving and stepping away from royal life.

  11. Tired and Messy says:

She is almost 40 and I would imagine if they want 2 they are probably already trying. It can take years to get pregnant when you are that age. This isn’t news, just common sense .

    • Mirage says:

I want to reassure all the 39 year old women trying for a baby out there. I was 38 and 10 months when I tried for my second child.
Got pregnant on the first cycle just like I did for my first 3 year prior.
Just like my sisters at the same age.
I believe that a woman with no fertility issues will be able to conceive way past 40

      • HeyJude says:

My mom had me, her first, at 42 naturally with no struggle conceiving.

My step-sister had 2 kids into her 40s naturally.

I think all this “countdown to age 40” worry is very much a modern pressure thing. We hear so much more about fertility issues today than before simply because of how connected we all are and the whole fertility preservation industry exists now which gives people a bit of complex that they’ll need it. When in reality they usual serve women who have trouble conceiving from younger ages due to health issues, rather than age-related issues.

      • Tired and Messy says:

My sister had her third healthy child at 42 after just one sexual encounter. But that is not the norm. I work in genetics and our eggs get old and issues happen as early as our 30’s. So it is preferable not to wait. Why should she? She has a partner and wants more so why risk it?

      • Abena Asantewaa says:

I had my third child at the age of 41, a healthy baby boy, now 19yrs old.

  12. Lucylee says:

What is or is not incubating in Meghan’s uterus is nobody’s business. Us can move on and speculate about what’s going on in the uteri of Beatrice and Eugenie. But to be honest pregnancy is a very personal experience and should not be chronicled for clicks.

  13. L4frimaire says:

This may be possible but not specific to her. It’s not like anyone’s asked Meghan. They’re not traveling and still staying close to home, so would be a good time.I think when you’re 39, you feel that clock, and Archie will be two, so sure, makes sense to plan for number 2. I had my 2nd just after turning 40, and while didn’t need any medical help to get pregnant, still remember using ovulation apps and making that baby became a job, not romance. Anyway, the decision is just theirs and theirs alone

  14. candy says:

Married couple with one child tries for a second one. STOP THE PRESSES!

  15. Snuffles says:

What if they decide to adopt? I could see them adopting a girl from Africa. Wouldn’t that just drive Shutter Island over the edge!

    • Ginger says:

Same here. I can really see them adopting.

    • Becks1 says:

      LMAO at Shutter Island

    • BnLurkN4eva says:

Someone suggested this once and someone else said that a little girl adopted from a country in Africa would become the target of brutal abuse by the British press and given what I’ve seen of said press, I don’t disagree. I hope they do whatever makes them happy, they are going to be criticized regardless.

    • Itsme says:

Adopting a child in need is absolutely them and a wonderful gift of love for both Harry and Meghan and the child. Gosh I would love this for all involved, not that they are asking me😉

  16. TeamMeg says:

This story sounds like a fabrication but I agree they are probably ready for baby #2 – exciting! I hope it’s a girl, but brothers would be sweet, too!! Healthy and whole is all that matters.

  17. Starkille says:

    Who cares???

  18. aquarius64 says:

If there is another baby and born in the US would s/he be a successor to the British throne?

    • Becks1 says:

I don’t see why not. People in the Swedish royal family (or Norwegian? or both?) are in line to the british throne.

      • TheOriginalMia says:

Madeleine’s eldest was born in New York, and until Victoria had Oscar and their brother had his boys, she was Estelle’s spare.

  19. Ang says:

I think she is beautiful and I hope they have another baby as soon as possible. They seem genuine and I believe truly love one another and I hope the best for them.

  20. NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

This US Weekly story is as if it was copy and pasted from a romance novel epilogue with Harry and Meghan’s names pasted in.

In no way do I believe that Harry and Meghan will announce their pregnancy. They will announce the birth. I believe that they will drop off the face of the planet when Meghan is pregnant.

I was pregnant with my daughter around the same time as Meghan. I felt so bad for her. I remember in my 6 month hormone brain seriously considering taking a ferry so I could give Meghan a hug. Between the birth of my daughter and watching Meghan go through her situation, it made me realise how unethical it is for the media to inquire about family planning. No one is owed a baby so you can sell magazines nor is someone else’s pregnancy fodder for entertainment. I don’t care how many tax dollars are used to fund your life, you deserve the pregnancy you want, you deserve to be supported by your loved ones and not judged for the decisions that are best for your individual family.

Now after everything I’ve said…I could have told you Meghan isn’t pregnant. Her face becomes fuller, puffy, and rounder when she’s pregnant. Her cheeks stand out, not her cheekbones. Even at Eugenie’s wedding her face was rounder.

  21. Liz version 700 says:

Bump watch magazine articles are weird. I guess they have gotten all of the mileage they can from the gazillion bathrooms. If she gets pregnant I hope she says nothing. She should wait 6 months and get photographed at a charity (a preschool maybe). She should be wearing the most obvious maternity outfit possible and a smile as she waives at the camera. No announcement. No money made off of her uterus. Have that baby on American soil and let’s watch. Will the sexist press talk about Harry’s anchor baby. I’m guessing not.

  22. Mariane says:

I really want her to be pregnant (with twins) and that she delivers without anyone knowing. I found her posture for yesterday’s time100 event is intresting. Its similar to how she’s leaning forward during her chat with Gloria. I wish them all the best especially after how they were emotionally abused during her first pregnancy with Archie. US weekly is acting like the fail and hatie nickols with this over the top “prediction” as if they have a live feed in the sussex bedroom

    • Snuffles says:

If/when she gets pregnant, I think it is guaranteed they won’t say a word until she gives birth. And I don’t blame them one bit.

I too have my suspicions. The loose clothes, the careful angles. 🤔

  23. jferber says:

I don’t care. I just want this to be true. America is hurting now (dying, too) and we need good, happy news so desperately. Please, Meghan and Harry, announce your pregnancy soon. Archie is adorable and we’d love to see the two babies together. PLEASE!!!
