Joe Biden raised $383 million in September & he old-school flipped his Blizzard

A few months back, we started hearing that Donald Trump’s campaign had lost hundreds of millions of dollars through grift and terrible decision making, and that they would likely be broke for the final month of the election cycle. Whatever happened there? Who knows. What I do know is that the Biden-Harris campaign raised a record $383 million just in the month of September. That’s a new record! It beats the previous record for monthly campaign hauls set… by the Biden-Harris campaign in August, when they raised $364.5 million. The campaign released this video of Biden surprising a donor with a phone call:

The Biden-Harris campaign now has hundreds of millions in the bank to effectively make their closing arguments, and more importantly, they will have the cash on hand to launch a massive legal defense in case sh-t goes to hell on Election Night and beyond. So how are they making their closing arguments? With wonderful ads like this:

And finally, Biden is getting attention because of this wonderful tweet for National Dessert Day, which was yesterday:

This is the day where I learned that the kids don’t know that Dairy Queen used to have a whole-ass advertising campaign based on the thiccness of the Blizzard, and DQ employees used to turn the Blizzard upside down to show customers how thicc it was. Yes, Biden looks “old” by doing this, but the kids have got to know! And it was really cute. (And yes, I love that he got a soft-serve cone AND a Blizzard. Maybe the cone was for Dr. Jill?)

I’m so ready to vote and end this national nightmare.

I think at our local Dairy Queen there’s a sign that states if they don’t turn the blizzard upside down to show you how thick it is, it’s free.

    • paranormalgirl says:

Yup, same here. They always turn the Blizzard upside down. Not that I have firsthand knowledge of their brownie dough blizzard or anything…

    • MissMarierose says:

Yeah, there’s a sign like that at my local DQ. The employees still turn it upside down after making it.

    • bluemoonhorse says:

I know nothing about the Turtle Blizzard. Nothing.

    • paranormalgirl says:

We all apparently know so little about Blizzards. Does anyone not have any information about the caramel apple pie blizzard? I might have to make myself unfamiliar with that one, too.

    • whatever says:

They still do this at ours, too, even at the drive thru. They bring each one over to the window, flip it in front of us, then bring it back into the restaurant to put a lid on it and put it in the cup carrier. My kids think it’s so bizarre.

  2. manda says:

We used to get blizzards when I was a kid!! But I will always love a DQ dipped cone. Yummm. This is really cute. Also, I wonder if they somehow let people know Joe would call them before hand? Otherwise, if it were me, I totally wouldn’t have answered the phone!

  3. nicegirl says:

    Go Joe!

    • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

Yes! I am already wearing my “Ridin’ With Biden “ tee in anticipation of tonight’s Town Hall.

Can you imagine the Orange Sh!tstain bending down to talk to that sweet child? I sure as hell can’t!

      • fluffy_bunny says:

Children can’t vote and don’t worship him because they are generally good judges of character so no.

  4. Badgerette86 says:

Can I just say- DQ is back to flipping blizzards again! At least here is Wisco, they’ve been flipping em for the past year.

    • Also Ali says:

I just took my son there yesterday and they flipped his blizzard! Loved seeing Biden’s tweet this morning.

      • minx says:

Biden wasn’t among my first choices in the primaries but I’ve really come to love him.

      • cassandra says:

        @minx

Same! But now I’m excited for Grandpa!President.

      • Anne Call says:

Minx, he was very far down the list for me also, but now I think he’s the perfect nominee and the opposite of Trump in every way. Really glad that he picked Kamala because she was my number one choice before she dropped out. A winning ticket that will defeat the moronic grifter and get rid of this stain on our country.

  5. MaryContrary says:

I voted yesterday-dropped off my ballot at our local library. Let’s go Blue Wave! Flip these a-holes and take our country back.

  6. Becks1 says:

I LOVE BLIZZARDS lol. And I love how much Joe loves ice cream.

I’m hoping there is a huge ad blitz in the next few weeks, and that Joe and Kamala visit as many battleground states as possible. (I should be on the campaign team for my groundbreaking strategy, I know.) I don’t want there to be any “she should have gone to Wisconsin more” discussions post election night.

  7. Tiffany says:

The still do. Whenever I order one, the server does the flip before they hand it to me.

  8. heygingersnaps says:

I love an oreo blizzard, I used to live near a hospital which had a DQ branch unfortunately, there are no DQ’s in the UK.

  9. Rebekah says:

That little boy is so perfectly adorable!!!! I’d love to share a Blizzard with that sweetheart. Oh yeah, vote and stuff.

  10. fluffy_bunny says:

Now I want DQ. There aren’t any in my city. I have to go a couple of towns over to find one. I always see ads for things we don’t have.

  11. Bambilee says:

    Two things:
1 – The amount of money in American politics is disgusting (and the Republican Supremes ensured it, though ACB would insist SC Justices aren’t policy-makers… BS.)
2 – I voted for Biden/Harris TODAY. I know my vote won’t matter in Utah, but I’m so happy to show up for them. I hope everyone else will, too, no matter how pointless it feels right now. Let’s surprise each other. PLEASE VOTE.

    • escondista says:

      1. I completely agree. It is grotesque during a pandemic when we have this many people out of work.
      2. the down ballot matters so much for them as well! Nice job! Going today to vote!

    • lucy2 says:

Agree on the money – it’s insane. I try to justify it to myself that it’s important to get them elected into power to make things better for everyone again, and hopefully it helps Senate and down ballot races too, where real change can happen.
Even if your state goes for Trump, your vote still matters, especially for those down ballot races!

    • bluemoonhorse says:

My vote in Oklahoma won’t matter BUT will still vote. AND if they get rid of the Electoral College in the near future, my vote will FINALLY COUNT.

  12. Gina says:

Going to Dairy Queen and getting a blizzard was the summers of my youth! Big butterfinger fan back then.

  13. MF1 says:

Between gerrymandering, Russian interference, and just refusing to give up power, I’m still very worried that 45 will steal this election. But this is very good news–the big donation dollars that Biden is racking up is a good sign that there’s a lot of voters in his corner.

    • Oh-Dear says:

I have 2 things to add – regarding gerrymandering and representation, I watched a show on Netflix that explained the American election system and it demonstrated that Democrats actually need to win something like 60% of the vote to gain power in some regions. In some states it is higher because of the electoral college and representation. They also noted that both parties do it, although there are some states that have used nonpartisan organizations to create voting districts to combat that.
And second, in Canada DQ still flips the blizzard.

      • Isa says:

Can we not “both sides” gerrymandering? Republicans do it in the majority of cases and they do it specifically to disenfranchise Black people and people of color.

  14. Noodle says:

I watched the commercial and I’m tearing up a bit. It’s heartbreaking to think how far away we’ve moved from those core principles. I wish it weren’t 7:45am or I’d soothe my emotions with a Butterfinger Blizzard.

  15. Kersplasha says:

That commercial just made me seriously cry. It reminds me of the vision of the USA that we used to have (I live in Canada). It always seemed like such a hopeful place and I am so sad for all of you living through this hell now. And sad for the whole world because if this doesn’t work and trump gets in again then the future is lost for all of us.

Oh and they still flip blizzards up here. My kids love them 🙂

  16. Agirlandherdog says:

That video with the little boy is hitting me hard today. Just seeing a kind, decent human being kind and decent starts the waterworks.

    • AMA1977 says:

I know, bless both of their hearts!! It gave me all the feels this morning. He is focused on that little boy, and kind and gentle and dignified. It just reminds me of what we deserve in a leader. Joe is just fundamentally a good, decent, caring human being and we should NEVER allow our country to be co-opted by someone who is not again. Can you imagine the Orange Menace taking that much time with a child and giving him that kind of attention and respect? Never in a million years. Thank you for sharing that.

  17. E says:

There was a Dairy Queen just outside my subdivision when I was growing up. The neighborhood kids were allowed to ride our bikes, walk or rollerblade there without supervision. Such different times!
These days people drink wine after having a hard day. I go for Dairy Queen. If you’ve never tried it, get a oreo and Reese’s peanut butter cup blizzard. It’s heavenly!! 😊

  18. Miranda says:

Obviously NYC went through absolute hell with COVID-19, but I think the absolute worst tragedy of the whole pandemic was the loss of Manhattan’s only Dairy Queen. And it happened right before my birthday, so I didn’t even get to have my customary (only since 2014, but still!) ice cream cake! Clearly a human rights violation, and NY needs to add this to the long list of charges against Trump. 200,000+ people and the Manhattan Dairy Queen died on his watch, and he must answer for this!

  19. Hollah says:

I took my kids to DQ for Blizzards for the first time a few weeks ago and they were so confused when the blizzards were tipped before handing them over. It’s so normal that it took me a beat to understand why they were confused.

As for how Trump will fund these last few weeks of his campaign, he is stealing from taxpayers in full view. Events at the White House and jetting around to airports around the country on AF1 for pop-up superspreader events. We all know he isn’t paying a dime to any of those cities.

  20. lovesitinnm says:

2020 WAS SO BAD. 2016 – 2020 have been so bad, I’m here full crying at these ads/posts. Please let this all be over soon. Please let us start saying AFTER Donald Trump.

  21. Betsy says:

Dairy Queen has got to be shtting themselves that they got that much free publicity.

Because all I know is that 1) I VOTED and it was accepted 2) I’m probably going to go get a Blizzard this weekend, which I haven’t done in years.

Hey DQ! Bring back Snickers and German Chocolate Blizzards!

  22. Jay says:

God, I am looking forward to a time when someone says “Did you see what the American president just posted?” and it’s just another photo of Joe Biden eating yet another ice cream 🤣. I’m willing to personally eat ice cream every day from now until the end of the year to make that happen.

  23. TheOriginalMia says:

My DQ always flips my Blizzard. Joe & Kamala should be hauling in massive amounts. They text you all the time. I give every 10 or so texts. They are effective and also in answer to something vile the Republicans & Trump have done.

  24. Regina Falangie says:

Oh my goodness, Shamar is so cute!!!!! What a sweetheart he is!!! That was so sweet.

  25. Ann says:

    1) The video and little boy and Joe Biden giving him the pin brought tears to my eyes
    2) I’m assuming the woman is Shamar’s grandmother. I love her and what she said to Shamar!
    3) I love Blizzards but I love Peanut Buster Parfaits more. I go to DQ about 6 times a year and can never break away from my true love, PBP.

This nightmare will soon be over. How did we get through the last four years, let alone the last one?

  26. NeoCleo says:

Husband and I already voted, Dem of course!!

  27. Stephanie says:

I’m under 40 and I totally got this reference – thought it was very well done by his media people! Also thrilled to say that my ballot was already accepted in California as well as my three family members – we all voted Biden-Harris of course. I’m trying to pick people every day to check if they’ve voted or what’s their voting plan if not.

  28. emu says:

haha man he can buy a LOT of ice cream with that money

  29. Skyblue121 says:

DQ’s in Montana are flipping the blizzards too. 💕
